Asuna is a girl Negi speaks to on the first day, informing her that her love is going to end unrequited. After this charming start, he's asked by the principal to move into her room and after a bit of initial friction ends up as his protective big sister figure [[{{Tsundere}} among hints of other kinds of affection.]] She is fairly dim, but she's also a hard worker with a strong sense of responsibility. Though intellectually weak, she's physically superhuman even more magic enters the equation, capable of running as fast as a bicycle and having both sight and hearing well above that of a normal human.

She becomes his first Ministra Magi and possesses incredibly rare antimagic abilities that confuse others due to Asuna being an apparently ordinary middle school student. Her artifact is a large metal fan with properties suited for exorcism, though as she gains more control over her abilities it gradually gets replaced by her actual artifact, a massive sword with antimagic properties. Both are known as either the ''Ensis Exorcizans'' or the ''Hama no Tsurugi'' depending on reading.

She also likes to tease Evangeline with a completely straight face. She has a crush on Negi, which causes issues for her since she's forced into conflict with him twice before she's able to act as an ally. During the second incident she makes friends with Chisame despite the latter's irritation with anything outside the ordinary, which definitely extends to humanoid robots going to middle school.

Chachamaru is designed to be quite tough and appears to know some form of martial arts. She also has many weapons hidden inside her body and as a robot has information warfare capabilities.

Chamo is a crafty, lecherous, [[TalkingAnimal talking ermine]] and something between a familiar and a mentor to Negi. He provides comic relief, devises battle plans, forms the pactio circles and enjoys teasing the girls about their feelings for Negi, which he is apparently able to uncover via some form of weird magic. Despite mages being turned into ermines for breaking the masquerade, there is no indication that Chamo is such a case. Rather, he appears to be some sort of fairy.

* ButtMonkey: Whenever he says something perverse, he gets beaten up. In the first anime series, he also gets smacked in the face with a flashlight that was still on, leaving a red mark over his face for the rest of the episode.

Anya is Negi's childhood friend and a fellow graduate from [[WizardingSchool Merdiana Magic Academy]]. Since she's known Negi longer than any of his students, he doesn't use {{Keigo}} when speaking to her. She's [[FieryRedhead extremely emotional]], [[{{Tsundere}} especially when it comes to Negi]] and is convinced that he is being led astray by all the pretty girls and their boobs. Though she shows up after Mahorafest intending to show him how much she has improved, she's stunned to see that he's way, way out of her league at this point. Further annoying her is the number of pactios he has at this point, which pisses her off until he manages to calm her down and invite her to the group officially.

She specializes in fire magic, of course, though her performance is less than stellar considering that the first time she tries to attack Negi she also sets her own clothing and hair on fire.

Meaning the White Wing, Ala Alba is an organization formed by class 3A to help Negi find his DisappearedDad. The group was named after the group Nagi was a part of, Ala Rubra, which is very famous among mages for their part in ending a massive war twenty years ago and saving the world.
