* IgnoredEpiphany: Tried to explain one to Reese and Malcolm in ''Buseys Run Away''. After finally being put in a normal classroom, Dewey lacks the drive to commit heinous pranks with his brothers like he used to. Therefore, he starts bonding with Lois while Malcolm and Reese keep getting punished. They don't understand what's going on, and Dewey tries to explain that the reason Lois is acting so nice to him, is that he hasn't done anything stupid or destructive, so she hasn't needed to punish him. "It's not her, it's us." His brothers didn't get what he was saying and automatically assumed Lois had somehow corrupted him.

Actually, I\'m not sure if he even had any remorse for how he treated his brothers. After all, I think from the wikipedia article that he implied that that was how big brothers act. Also, just because he acts responsible under someone doesn\'t change that they are sociopaths. Need I really remind you of how Ted Bundy acted like a model citizen despite committing atrocious acts (even volunteering for a suicide prevention watch)?

** However, in several episodes he goes out of his way to help people if they think they need it, or stands up to an abusive authority figure because of the injustice of their actions (though sometimes, as a substitute for his mother). His lack of remorse is implied to be an act to make his mother more miserable- for instance, he admits to Dewey that he treated Malcom and Reese terribly and he regrets it, and that Dewey should try and be a better big brother. When working with Otto he mostly acts as a responsible, hard working adult who gets on well with people.

* HeroicSociopath: Occasionally.{{Hypocrite}}: In the episode she gets Malcom a job at her store, in a variety of different way. Malcolm calls her out on it repeatedly given how strict and principled she is at home, but she is utterly remorseless about it, spinning it as him learning harsh lessons about life.

Added DiffLines:

** Of course, given how badly her kids treat her right back, she would probably contest this.
