* SourOutsideSadInside: She's aloof, cold, and prone to anger at her classmate, [[UsedToBeASweetKid but it appears that she wasn't always like this]]. [[spoiler:Somewhere down the line, her personality took a turn for the worse following the death of her mother, and it turns out that she really misses her.]]

* KnightOfCerebus: Subverted, At first, he's built up as the main threat that this series has to offer, causing more trouble than Jabao or Harako could even dream of. Despite all this, he's easily defeated by Taru's magic at the end of his introduction. It's not until the tournament arc, where his battle with Honmaru happens, that the series temporarily goes through a major GenreShift from a cute FantasticComedy series to your average ''[[Magazine/ShonenJump Jump]]'' series. The Famicom game, ''Mahou Daibouken'' even reflects this, as he's part of the reason why the game is a lot DarkerAndEdgier compared to its predecessor.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: His twin sister Neyo is the only person he's shown to care about at his current age. She's the only person he'll listen to and will come to her rescue in a heartbeat. [[spoiler:It helps that the two are still suffering from the death of their mother and their father's negligence]].

* ClassPrincess: Iyona is regarded as the perfect girl. She has an excellent academic performance level, and she's also good at sports, being the spiker of the girl's volleyball club. She's also very pretty and has captured the hearts of many of the other boys in her class, Honmaru and Harako specifically ([[DependingOnTheWriter and sometimes Jabao and Korekiyo]]), helped by her "developed" figure, despite being around the same height as Honmaru and Ijigawa. Her status as this trope is so obvious that Shogunnosuke based a character from one of his books, Mayoi, around her and made her into a literal princess.

She's also very pretty and has captured the hearts of many of the other boys in her class, Honmaru and Harako specifically ([[DependingOnTheWriter and sometimes Jabao and Korekiyo]]), helped by her "developed" figure, figure and her choice of clothing (sometimes influenced by her mother), despite being around the same height as Honmaru and Ijigawa. Her status as this trope is so obvious that Shogunnosuke based a character from one of his books, Mayoi, around her and made her into a literal princess.

* LoveInterest: Honmaru's world is centered around Iyona and doing everything he can have her view him favorably, through honorable means or otherwise.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Ijigawa often pulls pranks on Honmaru and often gives him trouble just out of spite. She appears to bear such as massive grudge against him exclusively that she's arguably more of a threat to him than Jabao. Her treatment of the other boys is only marginally better, yet she's pretty friendly toward Iyona and many other girls.
** When Mimora starts to live with Ijigawa's family, she starts to act as the BigSisterBully to the BrattyHalfPint Mimora.

girls aside from Neyo. That said, she does have a soft spot toward all of her friends and is secretly in love with Ijigawa's family, she Honmaru.
** In contrast to Honmaru and Taru's friendly sibling dynamic, Ijigawa
starts to act as the BigSisterBully to the BrattyHalfPint Mimora.Mimora, when the latter starts to live with the former and her family.
* LovingBully: Her relationship to Honmaru can be easily summed up as this trope.

* CharacterDevelopment: Throughout the series, Honmaru will often have no problem exploiting Taru's magic for any personal gain, whether it be to win over Iyona, deal payback on or even spite his enemies, or to win at a competition he knows he has no chance in winning. Later on, for personal growth, he starts wanting to rely less on magic and frequently has to stop Taru from getting involved, especially once he realizes how pathetic and powerless he is [[spoiler: after he was unable to protect Iyona and Ijigawa from being attacked by a bunch of delinquents. This culminates with him going through intensive physical training with his father and being put through the fight of his life with Neizo Zakenja.]]

* TheBully: Neizo is basically Harako with any charm, narcissism, pettiness, and redeeming qualities traded for intimidation, tyranny, and sadism. He demands to be treated like a king by his peers and will brutally assault those who defy him. It really says something that he's able to make Jabao and Harako look like wimps.
* BullyBrutality: Jabao attempts to take on Neizo, who in turn brutally gives him a massive beatdown that leaves him a swollen and near-unconscious wreck.

* BigJerkOnCampus: Upon transferring to his current school, his strength, wealth, and perpetual DeathGlare all allow him to strike fear in most of the other students. He immediately forces his classmates to become his servants, and anyone who even speaks out of line is instantly demoted to slavery. And given that he won't stand for opposition from even girls or babies, he has no problem whatsoever threatening and showing no mercy on Iyona or Taru.
