Shyvana is a fighter-tank champion that excels at rapidly assaulting and taking out single targets, and can also morph into a dragon to deal strong area of effect damage. Instead of mana she uses Fury as a resource, gaining a small amount of Fury passively, as well as everytime she attacks. However, she only spends Fury to use her ultimate ability; the rest of her abilities have no cost attached to them and are only constrained by cooldowns. Her passive, ''Dragonborn'', grants her a small bonus to her armor and magic resistance that is doubled when she's in ''Dragon Form''. Her first ability, ''Twin Bite'', makes her next basic attack strike twice for bonus damage. The cooldown of the ability is reduced everytime she attacks an enemy. Her second ability, ''Burnout'', engulfs Shyvana in flames for a brief duration, increasing her movement speed and continuously damaging all surrounding foes. If she attacks an enemy while engulfed in flames, the duration of the ability is increased. Her third ability, ''Flame Breath'', sends out a fireball that damages all enemies in a line and marks them for few seconds. If Shyvana attacks a marked target, she will deal bonus damage equal to their maximum health. Her ultimate ability, ''Dragon's Descent'', can only be activated when Shyvana reaches 100% Fury, and transforms her into a dragon that dashes to a nearby location in a fiery wave, damaging all enemies in her path and carrying them towards her landing location. She then will remain transformed for as long as she has Fury left, which will rapidly deplete when she's in ''Dragon Form''. Additionally, when she's in ''Dragon Form'' her abilities are empowered: her ''Twin Bite'' cleaves all opponents in front of her, her ''Burnout'' leaves behinds a burning trail in the ground that damages all enemies that pass through it, and her ''Flame Breath'' hits all enemies in a cone in front of Shyvana.

Many years later, when Jericho Swain rose to power as Grand General, he discovered the dark history around the fallen hero Sion and called upon the Black Rose once more, procuring the blood of Jarvan IV, the descendant of the Demacian king Sion had slain so long ago. Swain could not leash Sion's bloodlust, but he could direct it; and so he released the abomination from its tomb, to kill for Noxus once again. Sion himself is now a soul in search for a forgotten identity and purpose, at least in the brief moments of clarity in which he's not consumed by bloodlust.

When he reactivates the ability he smashes the ground with his axe, damaging and knocking up all enemies in a cone in front of him, with the ability's power increasing based on how long Sion charged up. His second ability, ''Soul Furnace'', passively increases Sion's maximum health with every unit he kills, and can be activated to protect Sion with a temporary damage-absorbing shield equal to a percentage of his maximum health. After a few seconds the ability can be activated to detonate the shield in an explosion that damages all nearby enemies, but consuming the shield. His third ability, ''Roar of the Slayer'', makes Sion bellow, sending out a shockwave forward in a line that will damage, slow and reduce the armor of the first enemy hit. If the enemy unit hit is not a champion it will be knocked back, damaging and slowing all enemies it passes through. With his ultimate ability, ''Unstoppable Onslaught'', Sion starts charging forward for a few seconds, gradually gaining movement speed and becoming immune to slowing or disabling effects. When the charging Sion collides with an enemy champion or impassable terrain or the ability ends or is reactivated, he will damage, knock-up and stun all surrounding enemies, with the damage and duration of the stun increasing the more distance he charges.

* TheAhnold: Half his old lines were Arnold Schwarzenegger shout-outs. While his new voiceover scrapped that part of his character, a few lines still pay homage to the famous Ahnold accent. And really, nothing beats Recalling to the classic [[Franchise/{{Terminator}} "I'll be back."]]

** He actually has two lines for each of those lines, one of them speaking in normal tone, the other one deliberately with Ahnold accent.
* AndIMustScream: Played with. While he normally doesn't mind Swain and Noxus having risen him as an undead thrall as long as he can keep killing, he has brief moments of clarity in which it's very obvious he despises what he has become.

* BadassBoast: Most (if not nearly all) of his lines now tend to be this.

* TheJuggernaut: A fully-built Sion can just wade into an enemy team and utterly decimate them. His ultimate makes this completely obvious.

* MyGreatestFailure: Riot has admitted that the original Sion was one of their worst designed champions, both gameplay and flavor-wise. Much like Evelynn and Karma, he was deemed to have no place in the game and thus targeted for a rework. After a long period of DevelopmentHell, the new Sion was released in October 2014.

She was recruited by Noxus to fight in their name, but she broke ties when they began the invasion of Ionia. However, their excursion went awry; Cassiopeia backstabbed Sivir, using her crossblade weapon to open the Tomb of the Emperors. Bleeding to death, Sivir collapsed within the temple and inadvertently resurrected the Shurima Emperor Azir, as she was his last direct blood descendant. Azir took her to the Oasis of the Dawn, bathing her in its life-granting waters. Sivir was resurrected and witnessed that the selfless act had completed Azir's Ascension, heralding the return of the Shurima Empire. Whether Sivir chooses to continue her mercenary life, or to help rebuild the empire of her ancestors, remains to be seen.

* MyGreatestFailure: Riot has admitted that with his pre-relaunch kit, together with Poppy, he's one of their worst designed champions, both gameplay and flavor-wise. He's a huge hulking zombie with an axe, but he isn't very encouraged to fight at melee and doesn't make any use of the axe in any of his abilities, and has some abilities that don't make sense flavor-wise (why is a warrior zombie able to emit stunning, glittering eyebeams and generate exploding energy shields?). Gameplay-wise, he has only two builds: an AP mage build, which completely ignores and doesn't make use of his E and R, or an AD-build, which also gets no use out of his W ability. The main problem thus is that his abilities and gameplay don't mesh well with his appearance, and that he's forced to forego several of his abilities if he wants to be viable. They have already announced that, if he gets reworked, he's going to undergo pretty hefty changes. Since his long-awaited rework, the AP ratios are still on his new shield and his roar ability, but the shield also scales with HP, meaning he is no required to build AP in order to utilize it in fights. And the roar itself has CC potential

* {{Retcon}}: In a way. Sion's old lore linked him more with Katarina and the Du Cocteau house, being the ones responsible of resurrecting him. In his new lore, it's all done by Swain and [=LeBlanc=], so he no longer has any ties with Katarina, but instead switches to the Black Rose.

* OurZombiesAreDifferent: He's less of a "mindless, shambling, brain-eating" zombie and more of a resurrected berserker who's also ridiculously hard to kill now that he's undead.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He's undead too, do you need anymore reason to keep away?

* Music/HeavyMetal: She's the rhythm guitarist in the Pentakill band, along with Mordekaiser, Karthus, Olaf, and Yorick.

His passive, ''Glory of Death'', makes it so that upon his death, he is restored to full health for a short time while losing a percent of his hp every second. During this special time, he cannot use any abilities, but gains extreme attack speed, attack damage, and life steal. He can use one ability exclusive to his passive during this time, ''Death Surge'', which increases his movement speed. His first ability, ''Decimating Smash'', winds up Sion's axe for up to 2 seconds. The longer the ability is wound up, the more damage it does. If it is wound up for more than 1 second, it also knocks the target in the air. His second ability, ''Soul Furnace'', has a passive and active effect. Passively, Sion gains 2 bonus health permanently upon killing a unit. This is increased to 8 health for champion kills/assists, and large minion/monster kills. When activated, Sion gains a shield equal to 10% of his maximum health. If the shield lasts for 2 seconds, the ability can be reactivated to detonate the shield, dealing damage to nearby enemies. If the shield lasts it's full duration without breaking, it detonates. His third ability, ''Roar of the Slayer'', causes him to roar, unleashing a shockwave in a line. The shockwave passes through units, dealing damage and slowing all enemies struck. If a minion or monster is the first enemy in the way, it will be knocked back by the roar, dealing bonus damage and applying a greater slow to the first enemy champion in it's way. After revolt among the Noxian ranks, Sion was sealed in his memorial, a mistake, to be buried and forgotten.

Many years later, when Jericho Swain became the Grand General, he discovered the dark history around the fallen hero Sion. Calling upon the Black Rose once more, he procured the blood of Jarvan IV, the descendant of the Demacian king Sion had slain so long ago. Swain could not leash Sion's bloodlust, but he could direct it; and so he released the abomination from its tomb, to kill for Noxus once again.

** During the Kalamanda incident (aka the introduction of the Dominion map event), Swain was on-site as a representative of the Noxian military, butting heads with Demacian forces led by his nemesis Jarvan IV. However, Jarvan IV was noted as acting out-of-character during the whole time, and it was he who attacked Swain first. In the high resolution version of the published image of the fight between Jarvan IV and Swain in raven form, one can clearly see it is [=LeBlanc=]'s face reflected in Swain's breastplate as he is facing 'Jarvan', adding to his uncharacteristic behavior up to that point, it is pretty much confirmed that it was [=LeBlanc=] masquerading as Jarvan the entire time, working in cahoots with Swain. The result is that Swain appears as being the innocent party because he did not instigate the fight; instead he appears to be defending Noxus' rights to Kalamanda against an aggressive Demacia. The Journal of Justice article on the incident also noted that effectively made Swain the only General on active duty on an actual battlefield. This elevates Swain's popularity within the military high command as well as with the Noxian public.
