!The Admirabilis
[[folder:In General]]
* DealWithTheDevil: They chose to become mindless slaves on the moon to avoid starving to death.
* GenderRarityValue: According to the 11th volume's special booklet, female Admirabilis outnumber the males by a ratio of 1000 to 1. They're explosive breeders like many fish species, so they don't necessarily need many males as long as they take care of the rare few well.
* MadeASlave: Currently, the majority of the Admirabilis are held captive on the Moon eating Moon dust most of the time. In addition, they've (mostly) been [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashed]] to be compliant. [[spoiler: Perhaps averted, since the Lunarians claim they came to the moon willingly during a famine but passed on the story poorly to their descendants.]]
* NoPartyLikeADonnerParty: In particularly horrible times of famine, the Lunarians noted that the Admirabilis resorted to eating their own young in order to satiate themselves.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: They're humanoid sea creatures in the water with a very human torso and face but a more fishy tail, but on the surface they're depicted as giant slugs.
* OutOfFocus: Of the three races, they are the least focused on and generally have the least amount of important representatives in the story overall. Much of what we learn about them is from second-hand sources like the Lunarians or species guides. The last time they were seen in a major way was during the post-Winter arc.
* UndyingLoyalty: Thanks to Phos freeing Aculeatus and helping Ventricosus, and due to carrying the scent of the Ruler, the entire race adores Phos and sees the Gem as a legendary hero. They are ready and willing to help the Gem with any plan, including getting rid of their own shells [[spoiler:even if the newer descendants have them decidedly attached to their flesh]].
* VoluntaryShapeshifter: Can take on more human-like forms when in the ocean.
* WeAreAsMayflies: They may not be humans, but they're the closest of the three races to being Humanity. They have genders, reproduce, and have an extraordinarily short lifespan compared to the nigh immortal Lustrous and Lunarians. Phos has to learn this the hard way when they discover [[spoiler: Variegatus in Ventricosus' place as King]].

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChiwaSaito (Japanese), Creator/LuciChristian (English)

The King of the Admirabilis, who manages to strike a deal to free herself and her brother from the Moon People.
----
* AllWomenAreLustful: She openly lusts over Master Kongo by calling him a "hunk."
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Her giant slug form.
* BalefulPolymorph: Converted into a giant mindless slug to work for the Moon People.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: At the beginning, when used by the Moon People. Subverted when we later find out that she was the only one they could not brainwash.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Implied, given Variegatus reigns over a small colony of Admirabilis after the time skip and she and Aculaetus were the last Admirabilis left on Earth.
* BuxomIsBetter: Clearly seems to believe so, though Phos finds her breasts vulgar.
* ClothingAppendage: Her dress is part of her body.
* DoomedHometown: The Moon People wiped out all the Admirabilis.
* HealingFactor: Her head gets split open during her initial fight with the Gems, but she quickly heals from the damage.
* HeelFaceTurn: By the beginning of the story she betrays Phos while striking a deal and trying to recover her brother from the Moon People, but eventually regrets her actions and saves him.
* HeelRealization: Which prompts her to stop her brother against Phos, since she knows they would be the same as the Moon People.
* IncestIsRelative: [[spoiler:It's implied that she and Aculeatus reproduced together, given the lack of any other male Admirabilis.]]
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler: Not ''killed'', but is long dead by the time Phos wakes up and eventually meets her descendant.]]
* LastOfHisKind: The last of the Rulers. [[spoiler:That is, until she has children and descendants.]]
* MadeASlave: Like all her species, by the Moon People.
* MrExposition: Explains the story about the three species, the world and the humans to Phos.
* MyGreatestFailure: According to Variegatus, she regretted tricking Phos during her whole life and until her death.
* RedBaron: The Ruler Of Shells.
* PimpedOutDress: In her more human-like form.
* RemovableShell: She is a slug that grows a shell.
* RequisiteRoyalRegalia: While they aren't clothes but more like part of her body, they resemble a fancy queen dress.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Her dehydrated slug form is this, even for most of the gems.
* SheIsTheKing: Despite looking obviously female, she's still considered the King of the Admirabilis.
* SoleSurvivor: Along with her brother.
* TheGoodKing: If Variegatus words about her are true.

[[folder:Aculeatus]]
!!Aculeatus

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukoSanpei (Japanese), Creator/MaggieFlecknoe (English)

The younger brother of Ventricosus, and a warrior. Also captured and brainwashed by the Moon People.
----
* AloofBigBrother: For Ventricosus.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: As the giant mindless slug, he is even bigger than his sister.
* BalefulPolymorph: Converted into a giant mindless slug to work for the Moon People.
* BigEater: According to Ventricosus. The smell of food is enough to make him recover his sanity for a while.
* BloodKnight: Again, according to Ventricosus. He shows to be an incredible fighter himself.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Turned into a giant mindless slug, although he gets better and attacks his captors in return.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Implied, given Variegatus reigns over a small colony of Admirabilis after the time skip and he and Ventricosus were the last Admirabilis left on Earth.
* CombatTentacles: In both forms he fights like this, and the tentacles themselves pack quite the punching power.
* CurbStompBattle: His battle against the Moon People is this. It probably helps that he was angered by years of enslavement.
* DoomedHometown: The Moon People wiped out all the Admirabilis.
* FantasticRacism: Against the Moon People, with good reason.
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler: Not ''killed'', but is long dead by the time Phos wakes up and eventually meets his descendant.]]
* LastOfHisKind: The last of the Rulers.
* MadeASlave: Like most of his species.
* RemovableShell: He is an octupus that grows a shell.
* TheSociopath: Doesn't seem to have the same moral compass that his sister has and if not for her he could have hurt Phos too.
* SoleSurvivor: Along with Ventricosus.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Verily so.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Variegatus]]
!!Variegatus

Ventricosus' descendant, and the fifth Ruler of the Admirabilis.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Refers to Phos as Pozpopilizliz, as that is how their name passed over when the legend got told and retold.
* AllWomenAreLustful: Calls all the Lustrous beautiful, similar to how Ventricosus lusted over Sensei.
* AndAnotherThing: Used when saying goodbye to Phos, she stops two times and comes back: first to tell them about the Humans--the legend Phos was seeking to hear--and then to tell them that she wishes to go to the Moon, which makes Phos realize that's what Lapis Lazuli wanted them to do.
* MotorMouth: She is really talkative.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Like Ventricosus, except she is a nudibranch.
* RequisiteRoyalRegalia: Her body looks like a pimped out dress and has an overall princess-like appearance.
* SketchySuccessor: She was told she lacked the wits the older elders had, so it's possible her people saw her like this.

[[folder:In General]]
!!Lunarians In General

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moon_people_anime3.jpg]]

A species bent on capturing the gems. They come in two models, old models that disappear after being cut down and new models that try to capture gems using weapons crafted from their fragments after it. They are the main source of concern during the story.
----

* AffablyEvil: Even if they appear nice and outright polite in being cooperative with any potential allies, make no mistake, with only a few exceptions, they are all spoiled to a fault, bored out of their minds, and only in it for themselves and perfectly fine with backstabbing their allies if they don't get what they want from a deal.
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: They have been trapped in limbo for millennia and being completely immortal, incapable of escaping it on their own. Much to their dismay and desperation.]]
* TheArcher: Their normal equipment.
* AssimilationPlot: Unknown, but according to the legends the Admirabilis and Sensei tell this is their reason for being. They are the spirit of humanity, willing to regain their flesh and bone. [[spoiler: In reality, that's not the case. All they want to do is pass on. Even if it would entail the complete annihilation of the human race to do so.]]
* TheBard: Many of them do not carry weapons, but music instruments to cheer for the ones who do.
* BarredFromTheAfterlife: They are the last souls of humanity, who need prayers to achieve Nirvana.
* TheBeastmaster: Towards the captured Admirabilis.
* BigBad: The main concern for the Gems during the story.
* BizarreAlienBiology: Phos later discovers they communicate by whistling on Earth. The sound itself doesn't come from their mouths, which are always closed, but from an almost invisible hole located on their necks. They also seem to be made of clouds and dissolve only to regenerate on the Moon, which makes sense given that they are really disembodied souls.
* BladeOnAStick: Some of their weapons.
* ButWhatAboutTheAstronauts: They die, but leave behind facilities that the souls of humanity can use.
* DeathSeeker: Ultimately revealed to be their motive. They are the souls of humanity that just want to pass to the other side, and Kongou is not allowing them to.
* DissonantSerenity: They have two modes: blankly smiling (on Earth) and disturbingly upbeat (on the Moon).
* FlyingOnACloud: They all travel like that.
* {{Greed}}: They are described and shown to be greedy. Sensei even makes mention of them sometimes stealing Gems because they like their color, as he warns Phos.
* TheHedonist: Being the lowest scum of humanity, they live and breathe for their own desires, but with the punishment of eternity grinding them down, all they got left desiring is a release from it all. [[spoiler: Even when the most promising opportunity to finally pass on presents itself, they would rather spend it ''still'' clinging to their shallow forms of amusement and entertainments until the end comes for them]].
* HeroKiller: During the story they capture Antarcticite, Ghost Quartz and most of Phos. Before the start of it, they at least have captured nine other gems.
* HolyHalo: The main figure always has one.
* {{Immortality}}: Is it revealed that none of the Moon People struck down by the gems ever died; instead, they take some time and respawn in the Moon. When killed on the Moon they just respawn instantly.
* ICannotSelfTerminate: Their main deal. Aechmea explains that they cannot pass onto the afterlife if Sensei doesn't pray for them, but something is keeping him from doing it.
* IShallTauntYou: In capturing the Gems and decorating the Moon with their pieces, the Prince at least is hoping it spurs Sensei into finally doing the job they're supposed to be doing; helping the mutated dregs of humanity pass on.
* ItIsDehumanizing: None of them see Sensei as an actual sentient being, but rather [[JustAMachine the tool that he's allegedly built to be]]. He's always referred to as a "tool" or a "machine" by them, particularly by the Prince, even if they acknowledge that the Gems hold sentimental significance to him.
* LazyBum: They do little to nothing on the Moon, preferring to have fun and complain about their problems rather than really working towards their goals. Since they don't have high aspirations and take siestas almost all day, they aren't likely to take harder or longer work--which is the real reason why they don't just do night raids on the Gems.
* LettingHerHairDown: Subverted. The sundries (the basic unit) let their hair down after every capturing mission, when it's time to relax.
* LostTechnology: What they posses is this to the gems, in a way, but subverted with the sole exception of the ability to make the hexagonal diamonds that Sensei is made of.
* {{Lunacy}}: Averted. They live on the Moon, but only attack by day. [[spoiler: They are apparently part of a union that demanded they be given time off at night.]]
* MonochromaticEyes: All blank, at least when on Earth.
* MoonRabbit: While not noticeable when they have their hair tied down, all the Moon People have rabbit ears, referencing this idea. [[spoiler:Aechmea's outburst in Chapter 71 implies they're probably more like horns, or are wisps that can be whatever fits their mood.]]
* NecessarilyEvil: Thousands and thousands of years waiting for your torturing human desires to disappear don't do wonders on your morality.
* NeutralEvil: Being the "absolute scum of humanity", they will only act in accordance to their own self-interests. Regardless of how much suffering they inflict on other species, they're too bored to actually find any amusement from it, [[spoiler:to the point that they're willing to kill ''everything'' related to humanity, but not out of spite or malice, but to end that boredom.]]
* OhCrap: Once Phos appears alive and well after being captured they all get a massive reaction of this.
* OurSoulsAreDifferent: Revealed to be a conglomeration of mutated human souls seeking release and paradise (Nirvana).
* PerpetualSmiler: All of them. Always. Averted when they are actually on the moon, where they can show a greater range of emotion.
* ProphetEyes: They have those while in the land, probably as part of the technology that allows them to battle in the hostile environment.
* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: [[spoiler:In chapter 80, Aechmea reveals that Sensei's prayers will affect everything descended from humanity, whether they want to pass on or not. The Lunarians are effectively making the choice for species by trying to force Sensei to pray.]]
* PuzzleBoss: The new types, who always come with a new trick to surprise and catch the gems.
* SolidClouds: As both them and the Gems can stand in them.
* TechnologicallyAdvancedFoe: Their capabilities -- the sunspots they appear from, the clouds they ride on, and the weaponry they use -- are all the product of advanced technology and industry, of which the Lustrous have only seen the barest tip of.
* ThemeNaming: All their names end with an "a" (Aechmea, Cicada, Quieta, Barbata).
* TheStoic: The buff Lunarians are like this. Cicada is an exception.
* SuperPersistentPredator: They just wont stop coming for the gems. [[spoiler:Justified, since they are immortal and any injury delivered to them is just a temporary setback. Eventually, they do stop for 220 years in a makeshift "truce" due to having a bunch of live gems keeping them occupied and amusement on the moon instead.]]
* ValleyGirl: Hilariously, they seem to talk like this once they are able to. [[spoiler: The Prince describes it as them forcing themselves to remain happy despite their inability to pass on to the afterlife.]]
* TheVoiceless: None of them ever talk. When Phos finally manages to strangle one and ask it enough questions, their pupils come back and they only manage to make a "fu" sound before getting slaughtered by the Amethyst twins. It is eventually revealed that is not that they can't talk, they just don't do it on the Earth since the air on the planet is poisonous/uncomfortable for them.
* WarForFunAndProfit: According to Ventriculous, this is the case with them as per they retain the humanity lust for battle and anxiety for having more. [[spoiler: Proven false as their reason for the warfare is nothing but a halfhearted effort to kill their boredom and find a way to die for real, through forcing Sensei's hand with their warfare]].
* WeirdTradeUnion: They have one that demanded that their work hours be limited to daytime.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: The only one of the three species that really adheres to this rule. They've been going through the motions over and over so many times that it's starting to become tiresome for them.
* WretchedHive: [[spoiler:The Luanrians we see were originally the lowest community of the six Moons, made up of the souls of humans that had once been criminals, deviants, and undesirables. They spent their days tearing each other apart and melding together until Aechmea came into their lives.]]
* ZergRush: They're individually very weak and not hard to disperse. Generally, the only thing going for them is lots and lots of long-distance weaponry.

[[folder:Prince Aechmea]]
!!Prince Aechmea / [[spoiler:Enma Kubera]]
[[quoteright:335:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2017_11_6_batoto_read_your_favorite_comics_online.png]]
[[caption-width-right:335:The Prince]]

A person who is considered to be the Lunarians' leader. So far not much about him is known.
----
* HundredPercentAdorationRating: The Lunarians outright ''love'' Aechmea and the effort he takes to free them all from their eternal torment, making him their unquestioned leader by approval.
* AffablyEvil: Gives vibes of this. He doesn't seem to have a real problem with Phos, he even greets them and is willing to answer their questions. On the other hand, he also grinds gems into powder for decorative purposes.
* AngerBornOfWorry: When Cairngorm returns to the Moon after disrupting the failed Earth mission Aechmea screams at them, transforming into something greatly resembling an Oni. He then hugs them, claiming he was worried for Cairngorm's safety.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Manages to easily handle and defeat the already very strong Phos when he tries.
* BeautyMark: Under his eye.
* {{BFS}}: Wields one in battle.
* BigBad: Being the leader of the Moon People, he should be the main antagonist for the story. However by the time Phos gets to talk with him it's clear (from his perspective) it's actually Kongou-Sensei the one who is causing most concern in the story. That said, it's entirely possible Prince didn't tell Phos the entire truth regarding that matter.
* {{Bishonen}}: If he even has a gender, although he decisively looks manlier than the other Moon People.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: The other Moon People comment on how easily he gets drunk.
* TheChessmaster: His specialty is directing his people and his allies into whatever situation he deems the most necessary for them to pass on. His partnership with Phos [[spoiler:and some of the Lustrous]] has barely any benefits for the Gems, especially with all of the secrets he deliberately withholds from them. [[spoiler:Chapter 88 reveals he planned a good chunk of Phos' life, observing them since as early as the first chapter, to make a human to activate Sensei.]]
* CoatCape: Wears his suit like this when receiving the Gems that willingly go to the Moon.
* DissonantSerenity: Replies to Phos rampage with a deadpan "Wow.", and doesn't seem impressed at all even when he is being cut in half.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: He doesn't like being called by his name or even having one. [[spoiler: It turns out Aechmea isn't his real name, but rather a name that the remaining Lunarians call him. His real name is Enma.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** He refuses to [[spoiler: disguise Cairngorm as Antarcticite, refusing to compromise Cairngorm's identity in this way.]]
** He refused to pass on to the [[spoiler:afterlife despite qualifying because he wanted to care for the lowest of the low Lunarians, those who were imprisoned on the smallest moon and refused access to Adamant while he still functioned.]]
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: All of his subjects call him Prince, but he assures Phos that it's not his name, but a title.
* EvilCounterpart: To Sensei. He fulfills Sensei's role of the leader of their respective races, and prioritizes their well being over the rest of the humanity subspecies. However, while Sensei is usually unwilling to hurt anyone to keep the Lustrous safe, Aechmea regularly plays dirty in order to accomplish his goals.
* ExactWords: He says the captured Gems are "All around". In his defense, he is not wrong.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:His origins were as a humble office clerk. However, once all the "worthy" Lunarians had passed on to the afterlife, he remained behind to try to help those left imprisoned on the smallest moon, and as a result became the leader of the Lunarians.]]
* GambitRoulette: [[spoiler:He claims to be responsible for everything on Phos's path leading them to go to the moon. This involved a ''lot'' of chance when it came to things he couldn't control, such as Phos speaking to Padparadscha and Cairngorm being so DevotedToYou that they threatened to remove their own head if Lapis's was not given to Phos.]]
* GoKartingWithBowser: The first thing he does after defeating Phos and showing them the bodies of their entire species? Invite them for a tour and a fancy dinner. Played with in that he is actually trying to negotiate with the gems.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: To Cairngorm, as seen after the 220 year time skip.]]
* [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Huge Guy, Tiny Gem]]: Has this dynamic with most Gems he comes into contact with, but especially [[spoiler:Cairngorm]], with him being a good two or three heads taller than them.
* InterspeciesRomance: With [[spoiler: Cairngorm, a gem.]]
* TheLeader: For his kind, the others seem to look up to him.
* LeanAndMean: He is lean compared to Sensei, although not if compared with the rest of the gems. As for the mean part, one of the first things he did upon meeting Phos was to grind a piece of fake Antarc into dust right in front of their eyes.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Once it's night, he changes his Buddhist attire for a white suit. He also dines on lotus petals and seems to have impeccable manners.
* MeaningfulName: [[spoiler:His true name, Enma, is a reference to the Japanese version of the Buddhist King of the dead Yama. Like Yama, the Prince is in charge of what's basically Lunarian Hell, Kubera.]]
* MrExposition: Regarding the Moon People, Kongou, the Humans, and other things he tells Phos when they meet. He's also the primary reader authority on the backstory of the Admirabilis and what is affecting the Gems.
* NotSoDifferent: Just like Phos before their transformation being the useless "scrap" of the Gems, the Prince thinks that he and his people are the "scrap/dregs/trash" of humanity, due to all of their efforts to spur Sensei into action failing.
* NotSoStoic: He's furious when he talks to Cairngorm after the night raid on Sensei's school; he looked more like an Oni than a human. Phos also mentioned he once blew out a wall when he was mad.
* SickeninglySweethearts: With [[spoiler:Cairngorm]].
* VillainInAWhiteSuit: Is the BigBad and wears entirely white suits. He also has the impeccable manners and affable front associated with the trope.
* VillainsNeverLie: For all of the atrocities Aechmea has committed over millennia, he has never once lied about his people's intentions nor the overall situation. Now hiding and manipulating that information is a different story.
* VoluntaryShapeshifter: Can take on different looks at will.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He wants [[spoiler:''every'']] Lunarian to be able to pass on to the afterlife. Unfortunately, the only way to do so is for [[spoiler:Adamant to pray for them, which will result in the destruction of all life regardless of whether they want to enter the afterlife.]]
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Ichikawa's colored artbook depicts him with ''pink'' hair. This is unusual even for Lunarians; Barbata is shown to have normal brown hair.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Cicada]]
!!Cicada
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Initially fails to pronounce Phos's name, though he later gets it right.
* BadassAdorable: He's a friendly dizty man out of combat, but within it he's vicious, tossing aside attacking gems like they're minor inconveniences.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: He is a muscular, tall Lunarian who is great at fighting. Besides that he seems to be pretty incompetent and warms up to Phos almost instantly.
* CoolMask: Wears a terrifying oni-like mask when in combat.
* TheDitz: An airhead.
* DubNameChange: The English translation of the manga refers to him as Cicada (his initial name was Semi).
* DumbBlonde: He's been portrayed as a blond in full color Ichikawa art and as noted, he's pretty dumb.
* FourStarBadass: Apparently a General, although the Prince notes Lunarians tend to use words whose meaning they don't really know. As for the badass part, he is capable of keeping five gems at bay with no effort, Bort being one of them.
* FreudianSlip: His very first appearance has him having a case of this, revealing that Prince sent him to observe the Gem. Given the situation, Phos doesn't mind.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: When hanging out with Phos.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Wields a Vajra for combat.
** Later uses a spear that has a rebreather-like construction on the end so he can talk to Phos in Earth's atmosphere and stab Phos at the same time.
* LetsGetDangerous: He is surprisingly competent as a warrior, even managing to give Bort trouble.
* LimaSyndrome: He obviously got way more attached to Phos than the other gems, to the point he returns to the land solely to be sure that Phos is doing fine out of worry.
** When other gems go to the moon and then want to go on a mission back on Earth, he's adamant about going to protect them even if they are traveling at night, a time when Lunarians never mount attacks.
* SuperStrength: Enough to send four gems flying in one swing. And even then it's clear he wasn't fighting seriously.

[[folder:Quieta]]
!!Quieta
The Prince's personal fashion designer.
----
* EasilyImpressed: Loves the gems at first sight and immediately starts making them outfits.
* FashionDesigner: Designs the Prince's clothes and begins to design for the gems as well.
* {{Meganekko}}: A bespectacled and sweet fashion designer.
* NiceGuy: The sweetest of the Lunarians so far, rivaling Cicada.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Unlike most of the tall, elegant Lunarians she is noticeably short and squat with nearly cartoonish proportions.
* TheShortGuyWithGlasses: Visibly much shorter and pudgier than the rest of the elegant and tall Lunarians and a genius in fashion design.
* UnlimitedWardrobe: Discussed in relation to the Prince. Since the Moon People are immortal, she says she's designed the Prince plenty of clothes and has had nothing more to do for thousands of years, so she fell into a creative rut before the gems come along.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Barbata]]
A researcher that works with data on [[spoiler:dusted gems]].
----
* TheEveryman: The most "human" of the Lunarians, commenting on what gender the Gems are supposed to be, the meandering nature of Phos' plans, and the creepy undertones of his leader's wedding.
* HiddenDepths: He likes to cook way more than he does researching, as we see during [[spoiler:Prince's wedding reception]].
* MeaningfulName: In some languages, Barbata means "the bearded one". He sports a small goatee.
* TheMentor: Serves as one for the Moon Gems, particularly Amethyst 84, as they become accustomed to Lunarian technology. [[spoiler:He essentially replaces Kongou's role in their lives, with them even calling him Sensei.]]
* NiceGuy: Apologizes to Phos when he must give them a SadisticChoice, showing sympathy for their situation, and is the only Lunarian to show concern about Phos's welfare when [[spoiler: Phos is shattered by the Earth gems.]]

!!Shiro
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moon_people5.jpg]]

The first Double Sunspot to appear, a giant six armed creature that fights Bort, Phos, Diamond and Alexandrite. He was also Kongou-Sensei's pet.
----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: His eventual demise. [[spoiler: And probably, being from the Moon, exactly what he wanted.]]
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Shiro, by all accounts, is one of the biggest Lunarians that the Lustrous ever laid eyes upon.
* BalefulPolymorph: [[spoiler: He is actually a dog from back when Humanity used to live, and one that Kongou loved at that. He ended up unable to reach the Other World and took on the Shiro form after landing on the Moon.]]
* BareHandedBladeBlock: Pulls this move on Diamond without even looking.
* CloudCuckoolander: As he acts like a dog. He gets struck on his own sunspot during his first onscreen fight and is put down just by Sensei telling him to sit.
* CoolPet: Apparently Sensei's.
* CurbStompBattle: One of his halves is in the receiving end of it against Red Alex.
* CutenessProximity: Bort, Diamond and Yellow Diamond all react like this when encountering his smaller forms. Rutile, not so much.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: Has six eyes on his face and his copies grow eyes in very different places.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: Does one in the most nonchalant manner possible on a blocking Dia, which sent the poor Gem flying into the ceiling like a marble.
* FluffyTheTerrible: Shiro is considered a very commonplace name for [[spoiler:dogs]], and is usually the equivalent to a name like "Fluffy" or "Snowy" in Japanese. This guy is a monster in size and in skill, by contrast. [[spoiler:Not so much in his true form.]]
* GhostlyGoals: [[spoiler: To get permission from his owner to pass on.]]
* HandshakeSubstitute: When encountering Kongou, they both fist bump.
* {{Immortality}}: Splits when cut down.
* KnightOfCerebus: As far as fights in the series go, as he is one of the first enemies to have a lengthy fight, especially against Diamond, and overall gives the gems far more trouble than the average Moon People.
* LittleBitBeastly: One of his more divided forms looks humanoid, but with fur and several eyes.
* MesACrowd: Can split into different beings when cut. Eventually there are hundreds of him, though his power also divides and so they are inoffensive.
* MultiarmedAndDangerous: Has four to six arms depending on his shape.
* OldFriend: Was Sensei's pet back when he was a dog.
* PokemonSpeak: Played with. For the Gems, his "Woof" barking noise sounds like this, as none of them have ever seen a dog before. Because of this Phos just names him "the Woofwoof".
* PrehensileTail: Which he uses to fight.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: His smaller, three eyed dog form.
* SniffSniffNom: He is seen sniffing Sensei's robes in one scene. [[spoiler: Just like a dog would do with his owner's clothes after a long time separation.]]
* StealthyColossus: For something of his [[AttackOfThe50FootWhatever stature]], he displays shocking degrees of stealth, capable of vanishing as into thin air on occasion.

The second Double Sunspots to appear. They look like Shogi pieces.
----
* AnimateInanimateObject: They are board game pieces come to life. Their existence seems to follow the idea about objects held dear receiving a soul after 100 years or more (tsukumogami).
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Like Shiro, Kongou releases the pieces at the end and they disappear into nothingness. They look happy and teary eyed about it.
* GhostlyGoals: [[spoiler: To be played with one last time by their owner.]]
* GradualGrinder: Their method of fighting. They take small fragments and shoot them at the gems, then taking more fragments from the ruptures, and shooting themselves again, and so on. With this method they eventually set up a situation on which Phos, Caigorm, Peridot and Sphene are all incapacitated and near captured.
* HappyFunBall: They look like some inoffensive pieces of a Board Game but are quite adept at fighting the gems.
%% * GoOutWithASmile: If you look closely at the panel before they disappear, you can see a few of these little guys smiling at Sensei.
* PsychologicalCombat: As part of their strategy, they use specific fragments that are from the captured partners of the gems they face, in order to confuse and bait them.
* SchmuckBait: They attract the gems by showing them fragments of their lost partners and then shooting them at them
* WreckedWeapon: They break both Bort and Tourmaline's swords. In response, the latter shocks them with electricity while the former just cuts them up with their own hair.
* ZergRush: Basically how they manage to defeat the bigger and stronger gems.

!!Professor
[[quoteright:251:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2017_11_6_batoto_read_your_favorite_comics_online_1.png]]

The first and only Triple Sunspot to appear yet, a silent doctor-like figure that unnerves everyone.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: Has a leg missing and replaced with another flowery decoration.
* AntiClimax: She appears in such a way that it seems she is about to trash the gems. She stands up and... Does nothing. Her visage however is enough to temporarily break Sensei's calm demeanor.
* AmbiguousGender: Being a Lunarian, it probably has no gender whatsoever, but it's later revealed to have been a woman--specifically, an imitation of the human woman that created Kongou.
* BadassLabcoat: Signifying that she probably was an investigator, though much can't be said.
* TheFaceless: Her face is covered by a flower-like thing.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: How Phos puts her down.
* IdenticalStranger: Implied to be one to a person Kongou-Sensei knew, most likely a human professor. Later confirmed to be a copy of his creator.
* TheQuietOne: If she can even talk.
* KnightOfCerebus: Manages to be this while doing absolutely nothing as she entirely kicks Phos suspicions about Kongou-Sensei which in turn makes him go to the Moon.
* LightIsNotGood: Is entirely white and shines, but it comes from the Moon and it's definitively an enemy.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Has it.
* NothingIsScarier: She can move, as she stood up after falling from her sunspot, but prefers to just wait until being cut down. Her attitude unnerves Zircon and even Bort, whose hands are shaking when the gem prepares to strike her down. [[spoiler: The reveal that she is a copy of Kongou's creator makes it obvious that she works exactly like the Main Figures from the vessels that attack the gems, which just stand there until cut down.]]
* PeekABangs: Her hair covers half her face and would cover an eye, if she had one to.
[[/folder]]

!Others
[[folder:The First Machine]]
The machine made by humans before Kongou. Considered his "Brother" by the Lunarians.
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: According to Barbata, the machine purposefully miscalculated the trajectory of an incoming meteorite in an attempt to rid the world of humans, as it thought that Humanity was not fit to be the apex predators. The remaining humans at the time dismantled it once they realize what happened.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:The Ice Floes]]
Whispers heard under the ice during Winter, from human souls of dregs and sinners that inhabit the ice.
----
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: They have encouraged bad behaviour from the gems, such as tempting Phos into putting their arms in the ice (and breaking them off when Phos fell in) and tempting Cairngorm to suicide, but they also showed concern for Phos when Phos began to be overwhelmed by their whispers.
* BecomeARealBoy: They all remember what it was like to be human, and sometimes call upon the Lunarians in the hopes that they can be human again.
* WasOnceAMan: They're what's left of humanity after their genetic data got scattered into the waters.

[[Characters/LandOfTheLustrousTheLustrous The last time they were seen in a major way was during the post-Winter arc.
Lustrous]]
** [[Characters/LandOfTheLustrousPhosphophyllite Phosphophyllite]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukoSanpei (Japanese), Creator/MaggieFlecknoe (English)

The younger brother of Ventricosus, and a warrior. Also captured and brainwashed by the Moon People.
----
* AloofBigBrother: For Ventricosus.
* SoleSurvivor: Along with Ventricosus.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Verily so.

!The Lunarians

!!Single Sunspot Types

* TheArcher: Their normal equipment.

* BeautyMark: Under his eye.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
* SickeninglySweethearts: With [[spoiler:Cairngorm]].

* TheDitz: An airhead.

!!Double Sunspot Type

[[folder:Shiro]]

* CoolPet: Apparently Sensei's.

[[folder:The Pieces]]
!!The Pieces
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dajk5goxsai_ako.jpg]]

* MysticalWhiteHair: Has it.

Seems a better fit since the entry itself notes that they are not, in fact, a One Gender Race

* GenderRarityValue: According to the 11th volume's special booklet, female Admirabilis outnumber the males by a ratio of 1000 to 1. They're explosive breeders like many fish species, so they don't necessarily need many males as long as they take care of the rare few well.
