* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In early chapters, Ohma comes off as a very different character, being violent, aggressive, arrogant, and incredibly rude to those around him. Sometime around the fight with Sekibayashi, these traits vanish, and Ohma becomes an aloof, even-tempered, and generally respectful guy who saves his anger for when his BerserkButton gets pushed. Though later moments of growth come off as CharacterDevelopment, the early take on Ohma doesn't have an obvious cause for the change in him aside from the writers perhaps deciding he needed to be more likeable.

* AwesomeButImpractical: His Kengan is this even after the TimeSkip. Koga's kinetic vision reaches the point that not even Agito nor Rolón can match up to it, but the concentration it requires is a massive drain on his stamina and ability to focus. It also unconsciously restricts him to relying on visual input, leaving him open to attacks in the time it takes for his body to catch up with his eyes.

* DecoyProtagonist: To the franchise as a whole. At the start of ''Ashura'', the story is tightly focused on him and Kazuo, before gradually expanding into the Annihilation Tournament, where it becomes something of an ensemble piece. Nonetheless, he and Kazuo still get the most focus and remain the protagonists, and Ohma is involved in many plotlines, but he's not the center of them. In the end, after concluding his character arc and doing his best to save Kiryu from his madness, he dies, and the plot continues without him in ''Omega''. However, in chapter 50 of ''Omega'' he returns to save Kazuo along with Raian Kure.

Added DiffLines:

* IdenticalStranger: He and Ryuji Gaoh look so alike that people initially assumed Ryuji ''was'' him BackFromTheDead (before Ohma himself revealed this was indeed the case to Kazuo). The cause of this is apparently revealed to be because both are clones of The Connector, Shen Wulong, created using his genetic template to create bodies that could house Shen's Ego as a form of immortality. However, when Wulong fatally confronts Mukaku Gaoh, he reveals that Ohma actually ''isn't'' one of his clones, though Ryuji is, baffling Mukaku over their uncanny resemblance in light of that.

** Still a problem during the Berserker Bowl, where he almost loses in the pool for it. The Gaoh Style only really works for quick kills, so the longer a fight drags on, the worse Ryuki gets since he has no follow up if killing is not an option. He works around it by trying to kill his opponent, and too bad if they don't survive.
* FlawedPrototype: As its progenitor, the Gaoh Style has many superficial similarities to the Niko Style, but it lacks equivalents for the Redirection and Water Katas, making it a "hard" style that relies on bursts of speed, durability, and power to land hits rather than the more cohesive and flexible techniques available to Ohma. Although Ryuki has been shown to use Weeping Willow, which shows that he's able to use flowing movements. it is stated multiple time that the Gaoh Style is for ambush and quick kill than underground fights.

* PoorPredictableRock: Ryuki's Gaoh Style is not made for head-on fight, because even with a mix up of attacks they are rather predictable patterns. * ThisIsUnforgivable: Downplayed, but present with his relationship with [[spoiler:Ohma]]. After [[spoiler:Ohma]] declared he’d take Koga’s place in the showdown with Purgatory, Ryuki cannot bring himself to forgive him for stealing his friend's chance (despite Koga himself admitting that he's not good enough to make it into the roster). * FamedInStory: Started out as one of many nobody pawn corporations in the Annihilation Tournament that over the course of ''Ashura'' became more and more famous across the entire Kegan Association. With this status being achieved due to a combination of dumb luck and genuine bursts of honorable character at the right by Kazuo, and the incredible fighting ability courtesy of Ohma that allowed for the corporation to [[spoiler:reach the finals]]. Come ''Omega,'' the corporation is a famous entity within the Kengan Association circles that blazed a trail for the new regime of the association that is admired and respected by many far more experienced and well established groups.
* ImpartialPurposeDrivenFaction: What they ended up becoming come ''Omega,'' as they don’t technically hold any membership in the association by this time and instead are a universal agent of it as a whole and don’t participate in the Kengan Matches directly anymore. With the corporation existing to register, evaluate, regulate and sometimes even train fighters for use in Kengan Matches one one-time, multi-part, and/or Corporate Affiliation level contracts. With this system existing so that other fighters can be called upon to replace fighters who may be too injured to fight for their employer without the risk of death, which was a real possibility when the politics of the association often interfered with their safety and mortality. Overall they act as a major support system for fighters, contrasting heavily to what once a incredibly unregulated fighter safety care culture in the Association as a whole.

* CantCatchUp: Compared to Koga Ryuki appears to stall and have less than stellar record after everyone figured his Gaoh Style. ** His other trait, aside from having NoSocialSkills, is that he is an airhead. Before his first match against Kokuro Utsubuki, he was more concerned about the strength of the air conditioning of the arena than the fact that he was about to fight. This is later shown to be a problem, with him lacking a conscience about killing people.

** This rears its ugly head up when fighting [[spoiler:Naidan]], who is easily able to counter every technique Ryuki throws at him, even ones not seen by the reader before. [[spoiler:Naidan]] states that the attacks are too direct and the setup has become sloppy.
** Still a problem during the Berserker Bowl where he almost loses in the pool for it. He works around it by trying to kill his opponent, and too bad if they don't survive.

His initial reaction is to happily tell him that what he did was fine because he [[spoiler:doesn't see the people he kills as humans, but insects]]. He then chalks up Koga's horrified reaction to this his actions as stress over his exam.

Added DiffLines:

* AchievementsInIgnorance: Yamashita has a tendency to do things that make him look like a badass without even meaning to. To name just one example, Nikaido tries to throw a needle at him to take him out of the competition, but Yamashita casually bows down ''inches'' away from being hit, making it look like he sensed the needle and dodged it with little effort.

Added DiffLines:

* DumbassNoMore: Yamashita was never really ''dumb'', but he was a NaiveNewcomer during the start of the original manga, and was frequently out of his depth in the actual field, with most of his accomplishments coming across thanks to many coincidences and a bunch of dumb luck. By ''Omega'', he's become a bit more aware of the tournament as a whole, [[spoiler:to the point he feigns ignorance in order to hide this trait from his fellow competitors.]]

Added DiffLines:

* TheFool: He's not dumb, and he's more neurotic than the usual example, but Kazuo still tries to hold a positive mind and goes through his job as Ohma's handler as best as he can be. He also happens to have Lady Luck smiling on his side, as there's been multiple times that Kazuo has either dodged attacks or made himself look like a badass without meaning to.

Added DiffLines:

* NonActionGuy: Kazuo's the brains to Ohma's brawn, and generally stays in a position where most of his fights are either mental or business-related. This doesn't mean he's in any less danger than if he was in the ring, however.
* NonchalantDodge: Nikaido tries to throw a needle at him to take him out of commission, but Kazuo ends up bowing in respect mere moments ''before'' the needle hits, making it seem like he dodged the needle without so much as thinking about it.

* PintSizedPowerhouse: As a child he was capable of injuring several Yakuza members and damn near killing all of them until he was beaten down by Ando and even then he was strong enough to force the bodyguard out the window. However this is subverted when he becomes an adult where he is fairly tall at 182cm and incredible muscular, though he still often ends up being the smaller man due to being a 82kg Middleweight capable of taking on people up to double his own size.

Afterwards, Ohma spends his time extensively training with one of Metsudo's bodyguards for his next match and unlocking more techniques of the Niko Style he had once forgotten. He has further improved his control of Advance to the point of rapidly switching it on or off and at max strength use it with the Niko Style techniques still although it's still capable of greatly straining himself.
