* TheLeader: She may be harsh and, at times, rude, but there's no denying that she knows how to lead a team. Chef Ramsay sees this in her early on and encourages her to take on the role of leader; in the next service she leads the Red Team to a much needed victory (they'd had three consecutive losses before that).
** For this very reason, Ramsay later transfers her to the Blue Team, telling her to whip them into shape.

* TookALevelInBadass: Despite not really getting much attention early on, she ultimately proved herself to be MUCH stronger than anyone gave her credit for. The fact that she managed to reach the final three despite being constantly looked down upon by everyone else speaks volumes to this.

* {{Badass}}: With the exception of the dumplings challenge, he has gotten praise in all challenges, and he has yet to be called out during dinner service. !!La Tasha
->''"Mama didn't raise no fool!"''

* {{Badass}}: She hasn't had any major screw-ups -- aside from the signature dish and serving raw salmon in the third service, and even that was due to the knock-on effects of Kalen and Denine's screw-ups on the meat station -- and is usually Chef Ramsay's go-to girl for taking over other stations.
** Continues thoughout the season. In episode 9 the red team scored some ''horrible'' ingredients in the craps challenge, such as pine nuts and three acidic ingredients (limes, lemons and tomatoes) out of a total of six, and she turned it into a beautiful dish that won the challenge. Even Ramsay expressed amazement at her ability to make something so wonderful out of so many mismatched ingredients.
** Ultimately it continues all the way, making her the winner of Season 13.
* BaldWoman
** BaldOfAwesome
* {{Bifauxnen}}: When the red team goes out to dinner for rewards, she's always dressed in a pantsuit.
* BookDumb: "I don't know what 'lacks-a-daisical' is, but when I find out, I'm gonna make sure to ''never'' be it again." [[note]]means "lacking enthusiasm and determination."[[/note]]
* DeadpanSnarker
* FlawlessVictory: On the way to victory she was never nominated for elimination, and only had two services that could even vaguely be described as sub-standard. In all, there was rarely any point this season where it looked like anyone else would win (Jennifer was the only one in a similar league in terms of consistency, but flopped when it came to running the pass).
* TheLeader: Takes up this mantle for the red team in episode 8, and is probably the reason they did as well as they did in that episode.
* [[NiceGuy Nice Girl]]: She's the only one who doesn't mind getting [[TheScrappy Sterling]], and treats everyone with friendliness and politeness.
* {{Ninja}}: Sade calls her one in episode 14, when she spends the entire service jumping from station to station [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome and doing everything perfectly.]]
-->'''Sade:''' Tash is on fire tonight. She's like a kitchen ninja.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Worked for season 5's Paula for some time, reported outside the show.
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]: Fulfils this role on her team, being a level-headed voice of reason surrounded by wacky characters.
* ThePollyanna: Not to the extent of Sterling, but she always focuses on keeping a positive attitude and has never really lost her temper or cussed.

!!Bryant
* {{Badass}}: He was pretty weak in the beginning, but from about the 4th service onwards, [[TookALevelInBadass he became]] one of the more consistent chefs on the blue team.
** Also shown when he is the only person to do well in that season's EpicFail of a blind taste test, getting a 3 out of 4 (with Sterling being the only other reasonably decent performer).
* DeadpanSnarker
* GracefulLoser: Sort of, in the finale; he's absolutely crushed that he didn't win, but he eventually admits that he's happy for La Tasha.
* HairTriggerTemper
* HotBlooded: Santos said in a confessional that he's like a volcano, because "you never know when he's gonna go off".
** Even refers to himself as "the volcano" in a ConfessionCam.
* InformedFlaw: Like Sterling, he was referred to as being "dead weight" in episode 4 and was targeted by other members of his team, but he really was nowhere near one of the worst members of the Blue Team and he managed to outplace all 3 of the people who targeted him, [[{{Hypocrite}} who, in reality, had struggled with consistency themselves.]]
* InsufferableGenius: He's one of the best chefs on the blue team, and he makes sure everyone knows it.
* ManChild: Showcases the emotional maturity of an eight-year-old in episode 10 when he has a breakdown consisting of stroking his own ego, out-cussing Jennifer and Chef Ramsay ''combined'', blatantly making stuff up to insult the other chefs, and basically ranting and raving about how he doesn't deserve to be nominated.
* SoreLoser: Does not like losing challenges. He is seen quite often in the confession cams complaining about other contestants' dishes. (A few times in particular with La Tasha in the final.)
** His dish loses the reward challenge of episode 9 against La Tasha's dish, and he refuses to acknowledge his defeat even while Chef Ramsay explains why he lost, and when Ramsay has everyone taste Sade's dish (which they refused to in the challenge) and saying it was better than Bryant's, Bryant insisted it was "salty".
* TheOneGuy: Ended up becoming this after Santos's elimination in the first black jacket episode. Interestingly enough, the men had outnumbered the women for most of the season and it wasn't until the two episodes before black jackets there started to be less men than women.
* ThePerfectionist: Expresses the opinion that ''everything'' about a dish has to be perfect.
* TookALevelInJerkass: He seemed to get meaner as the series progressed.
** By episode 10, it got to the point that he blew up at his team in the dorms and nearly came to blows with Aaron, Fernando, and Sade.
** TookALevelInKindness: However, in episode 12, he admitted that he'd had fun hanging out with Sade and Santos, and was reluctant to nominate anyone at all. He took another level in the second-to-last episode; he's a completely different person around his wife and adorable baby daughter. It carried through into the final episode, when he treated his team well; even when he threw Frank out of the kitchen mid-service, he remained relatively nice when he did so.
* WorthyOpponent: After butting heads the entire season, he and Sade came to regard the other as this, with a bit of VitriolicBestBuds thrown in.

!!Sade
->''"I hate losing. This is my sixth loss in a row, maybe even my seventh, I've lost count!"''
* AchillesHeel: As strong of a competitor as she was overall, her inexperience became glaringly obvious in the second-last service, as she came across like a whiny, angsty teenager while trying to get Jennifer to cook the meat correctly. Aside from that she ran the kitchen as well as La Tasha and Bryant did, but it was enough to keep her from reaching the finale.
* {{Adorkable}}: She breaks out dancing in the confession cam after ''finally'' getting to go on a reward in episode 12.
* {{Badass}}: She's made very few mistakes throughout her entire run, usually delivered in challenges (aside from [[EpicFail the dog food incident]]) and often takes on the role of team leader, usually getting good results when she does so.
* EpicFail: In episode 8, the teams were tasked with preparing dishes for a dog show the following night in HK, and Sade decided to make small, diced cubes of New York Strip steak, evidently under the impression that they were cooking food ''for the dogs''. Her reaction when she presented her dish alongside her teammates' human-portioned dishes said it all:
--> "[[OhCrap Fuck my life...]]"
* GracefulLoser: She takes being eliminated pretty well, stating that she's proud to have made it so far in the competition.
* NoIndoorVoice: Has a ''very'' loud voice when she tries to lead the women in episode 6, to the extent it was distracting her other teammates.
* SassyBlackWoman: Does not hesitate to call Denine out on her crap in a wonderfully snarky way.
** She even admitted this herself in episode 5.
* SoreLoser: She ''hates'' losing challenges, and in episode 10 she is unnecessarily bossy to her team. When her teammates call her out on it, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere she walks away]].
** Averted upon her elimination, however. See GracefulLoser above.
* TakeThat: In episode 9, the other members of the blue team refuse to even taste her dish for the reward challenge, putting up Bryant's dish, which loses the challenge. Ramsay considers Sade's dish better and has everyone taste it, to which Bryant instantly comments that it's "salty", to which Sade responds, "Well, it was better than yours, apparently".
* TookALevelInJerkass: After Steve leaves the competition for a leg injury, Ramsay breaks the news to the contestants, and while the men of the blue team seem disappointed at the news, Sade's [[ConfessionCam confessional]] is FAR less sympathetic:
--> "Y'know what, that's fine with me, since that's just one less person standing in my way. [[SarcasmMode Get well though]]."
** Worse yet, earlier in the episode during punishment, when Sade was angry at her teammates for just glancing over her dish (which was deemed superior to Bryant's, whose dish was chosen as the "best"), Steve was heard admitting that she was right. Basically, she told the only person sympathetic to her situation to go F himself.
** TookALevelInKindness: That said, it seems to have been stress brought on by never winning, as she is much nicer after going on a reward in episode 12. She was also calm and amicable in during punishment in episode 11, visibly shocked when Fernando was eliminated, and visibly teared up when Sterling was eliminated.
* WorthyOpponent: After butting heads the entire season, she and Bryant have come to regard the other as this, with a bit of VitriolicBestBuds thrown in.

!!Jennifer
->''"I'm not going to change who I am and fucking sugarcoat everything for everybody to make them feel warm and fuzzy inside."''

* {{Badass}}: Her teammates may not like her, but she made very few mistakes throughout the entire competition.
* BoyishShortHair
* BrutalHonesty
* CutenessProximity: The cussing, icy, {{Jerkass}} chef disappears as soon as she sees the dogs in episode 8.
* DeadpanSnarker: As seen here:
-->'''Denine:''' What's that?
-->'''Jennifer:''' The garnish station.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Started out overly hostile, but she's slowly become friendlier and more relaxed to her fellow chefs on the red team (with the exception of Roe).
* {{Determinator}}: Sent to the hospital for dehydration? She bounces back at the beginning of the next episode. Sent to the hospital again for an allergic reaction? She shows up the next day and owns the meat station.
* EpicFail: Got a 0 out of 4 on the blind taste test.
* IllGirl: Collapses at the end of the third episode after becoming dehydrated. Fortunately, she quickly returns and gets through the next challenge and service without issue.
** Happens again in Episode 12, apparently due to being allergic to coconuts. Fortunately, she bounces back again.
* [[SirSwearsALot Lady Swears-a-Lot]]: In the kitchen she's no worse than most of the other chefs, but in the ConfessionCam segments... let's just say that she probably dropped more {{Cluster F Bomb}}s in the second episode alone than Chef Ramsay himself did in the entire first season.
** By episode 7, it has gotten to the point where she can barely say a single sentence without being bleeped out at least once.
* TheRival: To Roe; Jennifer can't stand her inconsistence and lack of cooking skill.
-->'''Jennifer:''' Really, I just want to punch her in the face.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Unlike most cases on this show, where it happens rather abruptly, Jennifer has gradually gotten angrier and more belligerent with each episode...
** JerkassHasAPoint: ...But rightfully got pissed at her teammates for attempting to nominate her in episode 6, even though she was one of only three (out of six) chefs on her team to complete service.

!!Roe
* AmbiguouslyBrown
* EpicFail: Got a 4 out of 15 in episode 6's challenge, which singlehandedly cost the women the challenge. To contrast, the next worst dish was a nine out of fifteen.
* [[EveryYearTheyFizzleOut Every Service She Fizzles Out]]: As the only head chef out of this year's women (the others being line cooks or sous chefs at most), her team-mates have often looked to her for leadership. Aside from the first service and the occasional good challenge performance however, she generally didn't deliver, which Jennifer called her out on when Roe tried to nominate her during episode 6. Roe did improve somewhat in the latter stages of the red/blue team phase of the season, but promptly tanked again when the teams were merged into the black team, leading to her elimination. However, she was one of the strongest members of La Tasha's team in the finale, proving that her problem was more her inconsistency than a major lack of skill.
* TheGenericGirl
* TheRival: To Jennifer; Roe hates her for her blunt, rude attitude.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Perhaps the most notable thing about her is how often she boasts about her own talents, despite rarely showing them.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: During her last service, she tries to help out Jennifer on the fish station. Needless to say, it doesn't go too well.

!!Santos
->''"I don't hear any more yelling in the red kitchen, which means that they were kicked out and we need to complete service."''
* {{Badass}}: While he had a couple of weak services here and there, for the most part he delivers. He has so far been nominated twice, with the first nomination being pretty stupid.
** BadassDecay: His performance went downhill during his last two services.
* DeadpanSnarker: Has already gotten in a few of these.
* EpicFail: Despite being one of the blue team's stronger chefs, he got a zero on the blind taste test.
* FriendToAllChildren: As seen during family night. Slightly backfired, because letting the kids put cheese on their own pizzas in the dining room slowed the kitchen down for a little while in the beginning.
* MotorMouth: He tends to ramble whenever asked to explain something; for example, when explaining the course to the VIPS in episode 12, he talked about it for nearly a minute when the other chefs summed it up in ten seconds.
* NiceGuy: Aside from a brief slide into {{Jerkass}}-territory in episode 4, he's been pretty polite to most everyone.
* OneSteveLimit: His first name is Brian, but he is going by his surname to avoid confusion with Bryant.
* OnlySaneMan: In Episodes 9-11, he along with Fernando were the only members on the blue team that weren't complete jerks.

!!Sterling
->''"The ingredient I cooked this with is love!"''

* {{Adorkable}}: On numerous occasions.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: While he is generally quite easygoing, his speech when up for elimination was a rather vicious attack aimed at Steve, his tone of voice displaying more honest anger than pretty much anyone ever nominated showed.
* CatchPhrase: "I'm always 100!" (As in, 100 percent.)
** Also, "I love you, man!"
* CloudCuckooLander: Even from the PREVIEWS, he seems to be this.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Has become this by episode 4. To anyone, he would come across as a complete goofball, and his teammates don't take him seriously at all, but he has shown to be one of the better chefs of the blue team, and as shown in the brunch challenge of episode 4, he can definitely take charge in the kitchen with a loud and firm tone. He will sometimes stumble here and there, but overall, he has been consistently good in challenges and dinner services.
** BadassDecay: He fell apart in the fish station on his final night, screwing up scallops several times and eventually having his station taken over by La Tasha, leading to a disappointing elimination before black jackets.
* GenreSavvy: In the reward challenge in episode 5, where contestants had to correctly guess the proteins used in five dishes, Aaron was tasked to guess the protein in a chili dish. Sterling immediately figured out it was alligator, though Aaron ignored him at first, but decided to listen to Sterling on his third try and got it right.
* GracefulLoser: When he's eliminated, he takes it ''very'' well, and hugs Ramsay and the other chefs before leaving.
* InformedFlaw: In Episode 4, he and 3 other members of the Blue Team are targeted by Aaron, Santos, and Steve because he and the others were considered to be dead weight when he hadn't really screwed up once before that episode. Even after that episode, he only seriously hindered his team on 2 occasions, especially in Episode 13, when he destroyed the fish station before being switched out, which ultimately lead to his elimination.
* LargeHam: And how.
* LethalJokeCharacter: For most of his journey during Season 13, he was looked down on and looked at as being useless by almost every other chef, but ended up seriously proving his worth after he switched teams. In the Finale, he was probably one of the best, if not the best, chefs on Bryant's team.
* NiceGuy: He's a jovial, perky, energetic guy who treats everyone else kindly and is very supportive of his teammates.
* ThePollyanna: Despite how quickly they were tanking, he never lost hope that the blue team would pull through their first dinner service (spoiler alert: they didn't). This has continued on, no matter how badly either he or a teammate is doing during a challenge or dinner service, Sterling remains positive and supportive. He also tends to have fun during punishments, much to his team's chagrin.
* TheScrappy: InUniverse; everyone finds his carefree attitude and optimism grating. When he switches to the red team, the blue team actually ''celebrates'', and the red team is not particularly happy.
** RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Also InUniverse, as all the other chefs can be seen tearing up when he leaves.
* {{Tsundere}}: If he feels disrespected, he is able to go from literally being lovestruck, telling other contestants that he loves them to [[ScaryBlackMan biting their heads off harder]] [[BewareTheNiceOnes than even contestants like Jennifer could]], as shown in several of his conflicts with Steve.
* WhatTheHellHero: He didn't like being kicked out of the kitchen in episode 3 due to being Bryant's station partner when Bryant was sinking the fish station.

!!Fernando
* EpicFail: Like Jennifer and Santos, he got a 0/4 on the blind taste test.
* TheGenericGuy
* NiceGuy
* OlderThanTheyLook: He's 28, but looks like a teenager. Lampshaded by Chef Ramsay:
--> '''Ramsay:''' "Franchise/HarryPotter looks older than you!"
* OnlySaneMan: Shares this role with Santos as they are the only chefs left on their team that aren't {{Jerkass}}es.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Bryant in episode 10 after he blows up at his team and attempts to nominate Fernando despite the fact that not only did he have a perfect service, most of his recent ones were good as well. [[UpToEleven This makes Bryant madder.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Like Bryant, he started out weak but grew more consistent. When he was eliminated, Chef Ransay says he is a good chef but his leadership is questionable.
** BadassDecay: Unfortunately, he was by ''far'' the worst member of La Tasha's team in the finale, doing so bad that he was lucky not to get thrown out.

!!Aaron
->''"One word that describes Sterling's crab cakes is: FAST. FOOD."''

* TheDitz: At times, as shown by the above quote.
* TheScapegoat: Takes the blame for some of Bryant's mistakes in episode 10, though he had certainly made many mistakes himself that night.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Withdraws from the competition in episode 10 because he feels that he isn't ready to be Ramsay's head chef. Whether this was true or simply to leave on his own terms (as he was likely going home that night ''anyway''), he left Ramsay and the others in shock.
* YesMan: Comes across as this when it comes to Steve, something which a couple of his teammates call him out on in episode 4, though he grows out of it once the alliance between him, Santos and Steve to sabotage other members of their team doesn't pan out.
** TrueCompanions: He genuinely thought of Steve as a friend; when Steve was forced out of the competition in episode 9 from a leg injury, Aaron said that the blue team was going to have a great service for Steve. [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome They gave their best service yet]].
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair

!!Frank
* EpicFail: His last night on service, where he crashed hard on the fish station, single-handedly making the red team lose (the other members of the team had a smooth and flawless service) and duly getting eliminated without Chef Ramsay even bothering with nominations.
** Continues in the finale. Despite Bryant making his recipes "Frank-proof," Frank still manages to single-handedly sink the Blue Team. Eventually Bryant throws him out of the kitchen, but by then the damage is already done.
* TheFashionista: Rare male example. In episode 7, the men depend on him to help them pick their fashions when they won a shopping trip.
* FunnyForeigner: He's Italian and certainly does have his moments.
* GenreSavvy: When he has to pick an opponent to face in episode 7, he picks Roe, who usually does badly in challenges. It nearly turns into WrongGenreSavvy, as Roe actually manages to do well for once, but fortunately for him Frank is able to do just that little bit better.
* GracefulLoser: He freely admits that he massively screwed-up after his EpicFail in episode 9 and takes his elimination calmly.
* JokeCharacter: During the Finale, the 2 remaining chefs make it a point to avoid him like the plague, Bryant (who ends up being stuck with him) even prepares a menu specifically designed to the point where Frank wouldn't be able to ruin everything. [[EpicFail He still manages to, of course.]]
* {{Narcissist}}: Spends the entire dinner service of episode 4 basically looking at himself in the mirror.
* PickedLast: Unsurprisingly, in the finale. La Tasha actually said before the challenge even started that she wanted the win SOLELY to ensure she didn't get Frank. When he does get picked last, he admits that he was expecting it.
* PrettyBoy: Ramsay even calls him such in one episode.

!!Steve
* BadassDecay: He was comparatively good in the first few services, but went downhill soon after.
** TookALevelInBadass: However, in his final service, he had a perfect service on meat and was the team's MVP. Which makes his NonGameplayElimination even sadder.
* {{Determinator}}: [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]], he clearly wanted to go on despite his leg injury but Chef Ramsay said no, he couldn't sacrifice his health for the competition.
* MostAnnoyingSound: InUniverse, Santos considers Steve repeatedly yelling his name this.
-->'''Santos:''' "Santos! Santos! Santos! Santos!" AAAAAAAGH!
* NonGameplayElimination: After injuring his knee during punishment, he was deemed unfit to continue in the competition.
* TheRival: Often gets in disputes with Sterling.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Starting at episode 4, where he (backed up by Aaron and Santos) seems more concerned about screwing over a few certain teammates and making them look bad than actually cooking good food and sending it to diners in a timely manner.
** JerkassHasAPoint: In that episode, however, he was entirely correct when he said he shouldn't have been nominated when he wasn't kicked out (and 4 of his teammates were).
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He seems to have dropped his sabotage plans, and no matter how bad his disputes with Sterling are, they always forgive each other.

!!Ashley
->''"Once cheese is melted, it doesn't matter if it was hand-grated. You're just doing this to be MEAN!"''

* DeadpanSnarker
* EmotionlessGirl / TheStoic: She always has the same expression on her face and never puts any real emotion into her voice.
** NotSoStoic: ...except for her elimination. While she [[GracefulLoser bows out gracefully]], afterwards she's seen crying about her lost opportunity, sounding more emotional than she had all season.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Expresses sadness for "all the little scallops" they had to kill for "[[EpicFail this unfortunate dinner service]]".
* GracefulLoser
* PerpetualFrowner: Always seems to be scowling, even when she receives a compliment.
* TookALevelInBadass: She's actually one of the stronger chefs on La Tasha's team during the finale.

!!Katie
* ExtremeDoormat: Had a habit of keeping her mouth shut and letting the rest of the team walk all over her.
* NeverMyFault: A giant flaw with chefs this season. During the episode she was eliminated, she blamed everyone and everything she could--the pan, Sade, the scallops--to avoid admitting that she wasn't that great.
* SuicideByCop: She came within an inch of doing this accidentally in episode 5, after admitting she was one of the two overall weakest members of the red team (along with Kalen) even though Ramsay was clearly gunning for Roe. Ramsay told her that doing so was a fatal sign of weakness, and had it not been for literally the entire team naming Kalen as the weakest, Katie would likely have been toast.
** She confesses in the next episode that she didn't want to be involved in any drama with the person she REALLY believed was the weakest: [[WhatTheHellHero Sade, one of the early frontrunners]].
* TooDumbToLive: Very nearly in episode 5, saying that she deserved to be nominated. Fully so in the next episode, where she argued with Chef Ramsay over a plate of undercooked, botched-looking scallops, saying they were fine when she took them out of the oven.
* TookALevelInJerkass: In episode 6, she told Aaron after Kalen's elimination that she believed Sade should have been the second nominee, even though Sade has proven to be one of the more solid chefs, and only put herself forward to avoid a conflict. Then in service, she kept complaining that Sade was being annoying since Sade kept asking for times (which, you know, is something that has to be done in a professional kitchen), and later tried to tell Chef Ramsay that a plate of scallops that looked mangled were fine when she took them out of the oven, then she argued with him over it... her elimination that episode was unsurprising.

!!Kalen
* {{Expy}}: She's blonde, fat, and makes tons of mistakes during service without admitting them or seeming to care. She's pretty much a somewhat toned-down version of Season 10's Tiffany.
* TheLoad: She was unspectacular at best in the first two services, flat-out awful in the three that followed, and carried herself with a generally apathetic, uncaring attitude. It was little surprise that all the other women voted that she should be eliminated when Ramsay asked them.
* NeverMyFault: She was a disaster on the meat station in episode 3, but then proceeded to put the blame on Denine for the station's failure, despite the fact that Denine didn't cook anything, and Kalen refused to accept Denine's help when she offered, a fact she later lies about to the whole team, saying Denine never offered to help.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Believed herself to be one of the best chefs on the Red Team, but when Ramsay asked them who their weakest link was, they unanimously voted for her.
* TooDumbToLive: In her closing plea, she claimed that she had only done badly in two of the prior services. Which, when you do the math, meant she was effectively admitting to having done badly 40% of the time.

!!JR
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He was once homeless. When he did end up getting a home, he soon was homeless ''again''. He later obtained a permanent home though. Now, some of his {{Jerkass}} behavior [[FreudianExcuse makes sense]].
* FunWithAcronyms:
--> '''Ramsay:''' "JR? Just RIDICULOUS!"
* {{Jerkass}}: Sat out the blue team's punishment in the first episode because he "came [to HK] to live the good life". Then, he deflected all blame to his teammates despite being kicked out of the kitchen, along with JP, for messing up the fish station.
* LazyBum: He refused to help out in the blue team's punishment.
* NeverMyFault: Despite being every bit as responsible as JP for the blue team losing the first service by a mile, he kept blaming others for his mistakes.
* OneSteveLimit: His first name is James, but he's likely going with the nickname JR to avoid confusion with Sous Chef James.

!!Denine
->''"At this point, my strategy will stick to me being about me."''

* ItsAllAboutMe: A la her character quote.
* LazyBum: Refused to help when the red team lost the reward challenge because "it's not my fault we lost", and basically did nothing during her last dinner service. Which, understandably, got her eliminated.
* NeverMyFault: Both played straight and averted in episode 3. She refuses to help out in the punishment because she says it's not her fault the team lost, as her dish had scored a point in the challenge. Later averted when she tries pointing out that the meat station was sunk by Kalen, who refused Denine's help except when taking things to the pass, but the rest of the team blamed both her and Kalen anyway.
* TookALevelInJerkass: She was relatively nice during the first two episodes, but flipped out after being put up for elimination and got a whole new attitude problem.
* WhatTheHellHero: When Denine is eliminated, she's more upset that the red team used her lack of experience against her instead of her lack of cooking skills.

!!Janai
* {{Adorkable}}: Everybody enjoyed seeing the clip of her basically geeking out when she received the letter telling her she'd been chosen to compete on Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately, she did not come off as such during her brief stay on the show.
* EpicFail: Overcooked a risotto in the second episode ''by ten minutes''.
** Her signature dish was a few pieces of uncooked, badly-seasoned fruit. As expected, that did not go over well.
* TooDumbToLive: Janai nominated herself, which is something Chef Ramsay does appreciate, but when it came to elimination statements, she pretty much just said that she overcooked the risotto and "that's all it was". Ramsay's reaction made it clear that Janai had just sunk herself.

!!JP
->''"Fuck it, I'll bring it up, whatever."''

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Mentioned that he wasn't sure if he could take being apart from his wife and daughter for so long. Well, how does going home after the first dinner service sound?
* FunWithAcronyms:
--> '''Ramsay:''' "JP? Just PATHETIC!"
* TheGenericGuy: Besides his failures on fish and blame-shifting, he didn't really stand out.
* NeverMyFault: He was nominated alongside Aaron after the men lost the first service by a landslide, and while Aaron owned up to his mistakes, JP tried to deflect all of his errors to Aaron and his teammates. He kept doing so in his farewell statement.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Kept going on about how good a chef he was, when he had to cook his signature dish twice, screwed it up anyway, and then [[JustForPun flopped]] on the fish station all night in his first and only dinner service.
* TooDumbToLive: Finished his signature dish with 15 minutes to spare (which would make it cold when he served it to Ramsay), then his re-fired dish is overcooked, prompting Ramsay to threaten to throw him out. And worst of all, in the first service, he was completely nonchalant about bringing Ramsay food that he KNEW was raw! Getting the boot in the first episode was not surprising to anyone.

[[folder: Season 14]]

!!Meghan
->''"I'm NOT here to fucking babysit!"''

* {{Badass}}: Quickly emerged as one of the frontrunners, getting a perfect 5 out of 5 on her signature dish, and hardly putting a foot wrong in the early services or challenges. The first time she did ''anything'' wrong didn't come until the final Red/Blue Team service, when she sent up some raw steaks, causing her team-mates to comment that she really was human after all. She eventually won without ever being even remotely considered for nomination.
* BrutalHonesty: Pulls no verbal punches when criticizing others during service.
* DeadpanSnarker: After the first service, in which she replaced Chrissa on her station:
-->'''Chrissa:''' "I handled my station."
-->'''Meghan:''' "Is that why I was over there with you?"
* DistaffCounterpart: Appears to be this to Danny from Season 5, in that while she seems a little cocky and constantly talks as if she's a cut above the other contestants, she was able to back that up at every juncture.
* TheDreaded: The opposing team members never like to go up against her in team challenges, as she always performs so well in them. Unfortunately for her however, she received more than her share of punishments due to the ''rest'' of her team failing to deliver.
* FlawlessVictory: Other than a disproportionate amount of punishments, nothing went even slightly wrong for her during the season. Note that it would also have been a Flawless Victory for T had she won, making them a strong contender for the show's strongest-ever final two.
* {{Jerkass}}: For all her skill, she's demonstrated her share of jerkish behavior. One example that stood out was in episode 10, where she threw Michelle off the meat station despite her not having put a foot wrong, then when Michelle tried to protest dismissively told her "Stay on the garnishes, little girl."
** JerkassHasAPoint: While the way she seemed to accuse the other women of not being worthy of working with a chef of her calibre in episode 6 seemed pretty arrogant, she was almost single-handedly responsible for steering them to victory in the next service.
** TookALevelInKindness: Michelle was actually her first pick when choosing brigades during the finale.
* WorthyOpponent: Milly considers her one, calling her the best chef on the red team and constantly facing her in challenges.
-->'''Milly:''' "If you want to be the best, you have to face the best."

!!T
->''"It's like a ship on the ocean, and the pirates came and fucking capsized that bitch!"''

* {{Badass}}: One of the strongest and most consistent performers early on, demonstrated when she got a perfect 5 out of 5 in the signature dish challenge, and then almost single-handedly steered the red team to victory in the second episode's team challenge and service. Like Meghan, not only did she reach the final without ever being nominated, no-one ever seriously considered nominating her, aside from Alison once off-handedly thinking about it due to how much she tended to argue with Michelle.
* ButchLesbian: Nick off-handedly comments that she's this at the start of the ninth episode.
* GenreBlind: In the fourth episode she pushed for the team to nominate Monique and Sarah, worried that if they nominated the obvious choice of Monique and Mieka, the latter would be eliminated for certain. As just about any longtime viewer of the show could have predicted, Mieka was eliminated anyway.
** In Hell's Kitchen, it's not enough to cook well; you also have to work well with your teammates. But whenever Michelle opens her mouth, T ''flips out'' on her, no matter what she says. Asking how long? T flips out. Checking to see if T heard her when T doesn't acknowledge her? T flips out. T has gradually lost a lot of fans for this.
* GracefulLoser: Like most of the previous losers she was bummed out, but not the least bit sore about her defeat.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Averted for the most part -- she was one of the first people to realize just how much dead weight both Monique and Chrissa were -- but she showed some questionable judgement ahead of the final service, when she seemed convinced that Christine was going to be her most valuable team member.
* {{Jerkass}}: Anytime Michelle says ANYTHING in her vicinity, T gets pissed at her and has a very condescending attitude towards her.
* OneLetterName
* SassyBlackWoman: As Monique, Chrissa, and Christine found out, she won't hesitate to call anyone out for causing the team to lose.
* WhatWereYouThinking: Seemed really annoyed when Monique [[InnocentlyInsensitive inadvertently insulted]] Jamaican-born Alison on the bus ride to Hell's Kitchen.

!!Michelle
* ButtMonkey: Constantly belittled, ignored, and disrepected by her teammates just because she's the youngest (22).
* ExtremeDoormat: So much that she's gotten some supporters solely because they feel bad for her. The ultimate example has to be in episode 10 when Meghan pushes her off the meat station for no reason other than she feels like it.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: To some extent. She was the shortest competitor from this year, and proved a generally very strong competitor, reaching the final three.

!!Milly
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Meghan was often this to him early on, as they frequently faced off in challenges and she won every single time. More significantly however, she made it to the final over him.
* BadassBeard: SOOOO much.
* GenderBlenderName: Milly is much more often heard as a girls' name, short for Millicent, and often spelled "Millie."
* TookALevelInJerkass: After the 5th service. Granted that Brendan completely failed to live up to his executive chef title, but whilst the other men are calmly deciding who they'll be nominating, Milly flies into a rage and goes on a completely unnecessary rant about how Brendan doesn't deserve his career and that he should read some books about cooking on the line.
** Takes an even bigger one in episode 11, when he ''sabotages'' Randy by putting sixteen plates on the pass during Randy's turn running the five-course meal for the guests and continuously acting like it's Randy's fault.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: In episode 7, Ramsay brought him into the storeroom for a pep talk, and Milly tearfully admitted to Ramsay that he's not experienced enough. Ramsay reminded him that he's done well so far, and has made pretty good dishes, and he just needs to be more confident. Apart from improperly slicing one Wellington, he did fairly well in the next service.

!!Nick
* CampGay: Confirmed himself as such during a drinking game at the start of the fourth episode.
* ExperimentedInCollege: Inverted; he tried dating women when he was younger, before fully realizing that he preferred men. This led to a hilarious moment in episode 6 when his [=ex-GIRLfriend=] turned out to be their waitress during their reward trip.
* LackOfEmpathy: His response to Milly's and Bret's breakdowns in episode 4 is basically "wow, why are you crying? Get over it."
* TookALevelInJerkass: Gradually over the course of the season, he's become bitchier and bitchier. In episode 9, after Bret's unfortunate withdrawal from the competition, he's mocking him and basically saying "good riddance", and during the challenge, he condescendingly remarks in the confessional that Randy is a one-trick pony for making an ostrich burger ([[LaserGuidedKarma Randy scores the winning dish while Nick's is given a mediocre reception]]).
** In episode 11, when Milly sabotages Randy by putting up four more plates than necessary, his response to Randy is "You should've counted them." Because trusting Milly to ''count to twelve'' was unrealistic...

!!Josh
->"This is the greatest day of my life."
* BadassBoast: After Cameron took over from Josh trying to fix the oven (Josh seemed to have trouble, but Cameron didn't fare any better), Josh told Cameron off:
-->"When I'm doing something, don't step on my toes, because I got big feet and you DON'T wanna find them in your ass!"
* TheCharmer: He's see flirting with the girls and making them laugh early in episode 2.
* DistaffCounterpart: Arguably, to Rochelle from season 12; both are among the younger chefs on their team, both have a [[SignatureLaugh nervous laugh]], and both are constantly in a cheerful and upbeat mood.
* EpicFail: In episode 10, he served a risotto with white wine in it, and a capallini that was so raw the noodles were stiff. He was lucky to survive that night.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]: He's so ecstatic to be in Hell's Kitchen that he hasn't stopped smiling since he arrived.
* GracefulLoser: Took being eliminated extremely well.
* NiceGuy: For much of the season he seemed to be an affable, poilte, and very fun guy...
** TookALevelInJerkass: ...until episode 10, where the four remaining men had to put two contestants up for elimination, and Josh started railing on Nick's background as a private chef. Then he gets transferred to the red team and becomes a grade-S asshole.
* SignatureLaugh: He's usually laughing about something. In service, it's definitely a nervous laugh.

!!Alison
* {{Badass}}: Not quite in the same league as Meghan or T for overall consistency, but she's definitely been one of the strongest contestants from this season. It wasn't until about the halfway point where she started making any noticeable mistakes, and even then she was able to bounce back quite quickly.
** BadassDecay: Sadly, she had a complete meltdown in her last service, which ultimately resulted in her elimination.
* BrutalHonesty: After Monique escaped elimination in the first episode, Alison flat-out told her that she thought Monique should've gone home.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Has a habit of occasionally lapsing back into her native Jamaican accent.

!!Randy
->''"This is worse than combat I think."''
* {{Badass}}: He's emerged as the calmest, most levelheaded, and most consistent member of the blue team. In episode 6, after Josh was kicked out for repeated mistakes on meat, Randy took over and led the blue team to a complete service; Ramsay and James even remarked to each other how well Randy is doing.
** BadassDecay: Unfortunately, he ended up this way, with three poor services in a row. The miscommunication between him and Adam in episode 8 actually contributed to the blue team bombing the service, and he became the 4th person in Hell's Kitchen history to be eliminated despite being on the winning team in episode 11.
* BeginnersLuck: In episode 7, he was worried about his chances in the Greek dish challenge, as he claimed to have never even eaten Greek food; he was extremely relieved to have not received squid as his protein (he got chicken). The guest judge was a highly renowned Greek chef who flew in all the way from New York, and his verdict? "I don't think you can get much more Greek than that." He got a perfect 10 out of 10 from Ramsay and the guest judge.
* CoolOldGuy: The oldest contestant this season (45) and he's arguably the most likeable contestant of the group, as well as one of the most talented (at least as of episode 6).
* DudeWheresMyRespect / WhatTheHellHero: He's very irritated by being named the "weakest" chef by his teammates (specifically, Nick and Milly) in episode 9. Since he goes up against the ACTUAL weakest chef on the red team, [[TheLoad Christine]], he wins pretty easily.
** What really twists the knife further is that earlier in that challenge, [[UngratefulBastard he singlehandedly gave them the win]].
* NiceGuy: He's always in a positive mood, he's never been in any arguments with his teammates, and in episode 4 he wants to ensure that family night goes well since he has a family and wants those in the dining room to have as good an experience as he'd want for his own.

!!Christine
* EpicFail: Messed up horrifically on the garnish station in episode 7, contributing to Ramsay kicking out the whole red team. Lucky for her, Sarah screwed up even worse.
* TheLoad: Often has to be supervised by others, and frequently tanks whatever station she's on when left to her own devices. It continued when she was on T's brigade in the finale, resulting in T constantly having to shuffle the team around to cover up her (and Adam's) mistakes.
* OneHitWonder: In the eighth service, where she put in a virtually flawless performance on the appetizers, the only problem she had being getting confused over an order and needing T to tell her it. Unfortunately, the next episode featured the "Cook For Your Life" challenge, which she was forced to take part in for being the red team's overall weakest member, and she was eliminated.[[invoked]]

!!Adam
* CripplingOverspecialization: He generally did well in challenges, and even scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in episode 7's Greek food challenge. However, he was generally unspectacular at best during service, and in the following episode, tanked the blue kitchen's meat station and got sent home.
* EpicFail:
** Just like Sarah in the previous episode, his performance in episode 8 on the meat station completely sank the team, and resulted in his elimination.
** Tanked big-time when he was part of T's team in the final service, and was probably the most at fault for her failure to win (though to be fair, Christine wasn't much better).
* GracefulLoser: After his elimination in episode 8, he did what the last several eliminated chefs ''didn't'' do, and that was admit that he was at fault for his elimination.

* {{Squee}}: In episode 6, when Chef Ramsay sits next to him during the reward lunch.
--> (ConfessionCam) He's, like, RIGHT HERE [a pic of Ramsay from the lunch appears next to him], like, "HIIIIII! HOW ARE YOUUUUUUUU?!"

!!Bret
->"Them bitches are going home tonight!"
* IdenticalStranger: Looks and sounds a lot like Steve from the previous season. Ironically, he ended up leaving the competition in much the same way as him, too.
* NonGameplayElimination: Slipped a disc in Episode 8 and ended up leaving the show.
* SoreLoser: He did not take losing the fourth episode's team challenge well ''at all'', dropping a ClusterFBomb or thirty and openly accusing the rest of his team of not taking the competition as seriously as him.
* TookALevelInJerkass: VERY much in episode 4, where he turns into a very angry SoreLoser and lashes out at his teammates for allegedly being okay with losing.

!!Sarah
->''"It's not fun working with people who hate you."''

* CripplingOverspecialization: Generally a very solid performer in the challenges, but was never that impressive in the actual services.
* TheDitz: To an extent; while she's done well in most of the challenges and even one or two services, she has a tendency to get lost and frazzled. It's rare during service that she DOESN'T have a deer-in-headlights look on her face.
** In episode 7's punishment, she was clumsily wandering around trying to find an outlet for the vacuum cleaner, irritating her teammates to no end by repeatedly asking where it was.
** BrainlessBeauty: She was a model pre-HK.
* EpicFail: Her performance on meat in episode 7, which resulted in Ramsay kicking the entire red team out and having the blue team finish it for them.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: In episode 7, the entire red team was perpetually annoyed at her due to her increasingly glaring mistakes. You could see the wave of relief wash over the red team's heads when she was cut.
* NeverMyFault: Zigzagged when she was eliminated; like Brendan the previous week, she tried to blame everyone else on the team for not helping her in the service that saw her eliminated. Unlike him however, she admitted that based on her overall history in the competition, she deserved to go home.

!!Brendan
->''"Everyone just let me sink."''

* {{Adorkable}}: Had a total nerdgasm when he met WilliamShatner in the first episode's reward.
* DeathGlare: Gave one to Cameron in the second episode, when the latter got them both benched for badly cooked fish.
* NeverMyFault: In the episode where he was eliminated, while Nick owned up to his mistakes, he ''literally'' blamed everyone on the team except himself for the way he crashed and burned on the fish station.
** {{Expy}}: He can be seen as a parallel to Season 13's JP in that regard.

!!Monique
->''"I'm not gonna change who I am to make these bitches happy."''

* EpicFail:
** During the team challenge in what would prove to be her final episode, her idea of a "gourmet" grilled cheese sandwich was to just make the sort of simple sandwich you'd see at a particularly cheap roadside diner, and then add a few sliced tomatoes on top.
** It's fairly rare that someone gets thrown out for doing poorly on the garnishes, and even rarer for someone to bring Ramsay poorly-cooked garnishes three times ''in a row''.
* GenreBlind: Serving canned marinara sauce to Ramsay, then complaining that he wasn't specific enough that he wanted it fresh, more than counts. Hell, it may count as being PROFESSION blind.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Toward Alison, who was born in Jamaica:
-->"So do you have your own language, or is it just Rasta?"
* {{Jerkass}}: Crossed the line into straight-up jerkassery, if not outright ''racism'', when she ridiculed Alison's accent during a ConfessionCam segment in the third episode.
* LaserGuidedKarma: At the start of the fifth episode, the other women made a last-ditch attempt to understand Monique's problems, but she accused them of trying to exploit her weaknesses to get her kicked out faster and told them to fuck off. In the next dinner service she crashed and burned, finally resulting in her elimination.
* NeverMyFault: Even by the usual standards of the show she was a particularly bad example of this. Not only did she blame Ramsay for not telling her that canned sauce is a no-no, she screwed up in pretty much every service and refused to admit ever being at fault. It eventually got to the point where she claimed to have been nominated for no reason despite screwing up nearly every garnish and not even being aware of what she'd done wrong, which proved the final straw for Ramsay.
* TheLoad: She did poorly in all five of the services and challenges she was around for.
* TooDumbToLive / WhatWereYouThinking: The signature dish challenge went better than it ever had in HK history, with 15 of the first 17 dishes earning at least some praise. Then Monique presented her dish last, where she admitted to using canned sauce without a care in the world. She then had the nerve to talk back to Chef Ramsay when he called her out on it, where she said she [[GenreBlind didn't know he wanted fresh sauce]]. She then said in the [[ConfessionCam confessional]] that [[InsaneTrollLogic only Italians bother to make their own sauce]].

!!Mieka
* LipstickLesbian: Offhandedly mentioned her girlfriend in the second episode, before admitting in a later episode that she wasn't romantically interested in men.
* OneHitWonder: Presented what Ramsay felt was perhaps the best dish in the third episode's team challenge, but other than that she was one of the worst contestants in this season.[[invoked]]

!!Michael
* AmbiguouslyJewish: He said during the signature dish challenge that he worked in a Jewish retirement community, though didn't actually confirm to being Jewish himself.
* ButtMonkey: No-one on the team thought particularly highly of him, which was exemplified in the episode after his elimination, where the remaining men outright told the women the team was better off without him.
* CloudCuckooLander: In every service, he had at least one moment of this.
* TheDitz: During the blue team's punishment in episode 3, when Sous Chef James told the men that it was lunchtime, Michael ran upstairs and ''started cooking his lunch''. If he'd watched the show before, he would have known that he was about to be SERVED lunch (and probably not good lunch either).
* LethalChef: He nearly gave Bret or Josh a third-degree burn by putting down a red-hot pan right next to the fish station's cold pans. This eventually resulted in his elimination, with Ramsay deeming it one of the most dangerous things he'd ever seen on the show.
* WhatWereYouThinking: Brought a recipe for risotto to prep. Chef Ramsay called him out for not knowing the recipe by heart.
** Got an even worse one in episode 3, after putting a burning hot pan under the fish station, which could've potentially given either of the chefs on the station (Bret and Josh) a burn so severe that they would've had to leave the show. Ramsay eliminated him for this, on top of numerous other [[EpicFail screwups]].

!!Cameron
->''"I'm not as smart as I think I am, I guess."''

* CloudCuckooLander: At times, he spaced out so much that seemed to be on another planet.
* GracefulLoser: Despite being pretty full of himself in the second episode, especially during prep, he admitted during his elimination that he had no-one but himself to blame for what had happened.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Kept trying to use his "knowledge" to dictate things to the blue team in the second episode's punishment; it was apparent that he was talking out of his ass.
* SmallNameBigEgo: During the punishment of episode 2, he talked himself up and bragged about stuff [[KnowNothingKnowItAll he allegedly knew]], and proclaimed that he was the clearly the best on the blue team...he went home later that episode.

* CloudCuckooLander: In general, was totally oblivious to everything that was going on around her.
* CordonBleughChef: Served Ramsay chicken wrapped in a ''ginger cookie''; he spat it out almost immediately.
* TheDitz: In addition to her gross signature dish, she was completely inept and clueless in the kitchen; she needed Sarah's help on her station, ultimately getting her kicked out to the dining room, she completely avoided any sort of responsibility by literally standing in the corner, and just stood around doing dishes while her teammates deliberated on who to nominate. And the kicker: she told Ramsay she needed to go to the bathroom during the pre-service debriefing.
