* ShippingTorpedo: While she hides it well, Claudia does not approve of Cloud and Tifa being together and suggests that he get a girlfriend considerably different from her to take care of him when he visits her in ''Rebirth''. During their short meeting in ''Traces of Two Pasts'', the air between them is frosty, like Claudia wants to say something to Tifa but won't, it's heavily implied that when Tifa told her that Cloud wanted to join Soldier it was an InternalReveal. It is implied that [[spoiler:Claudia still bares a grudge when Tifa fell off the mountain with Cloud and she allowed him to take the blame for it]].

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: In the original game, she [[PrecociousCrush fell in love with Cloud]] [[RescueRomance after he saved her life]]. In ''Rebirth'', since she never needs saving, she only thinks of Cloud as a cool adult. Also, she becomes fast friends with Yuffie when they did not really interact in the original game.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: A tragic subversion. In ''Rebirth'', Biggs decides to try bombing another reactor with a shoddily made explosive that proves to be pathetically inefficient when it goes off and leaves no significant damage. Biggs then admits that he did consider the all-likelihood of failure, but couldn't help but try anyway because he felt compelled to continue his fallen comrades' work, however futile it seems. It's obvious that despite his normally cautious personality, Biggs' SurvivorGuilt and desperation to continue Avalanche's mission are clouding his better judgments.

* {{Foil}}: To Zack in ''Rebirth''. The two are able to bond and strike a friendship pretty fast due to their similar friendly and kind-hearted dispositions, especially upon learning that both cheated death under mysterious and unknown circumstances. While Zack remains a staunch optimist and sees his situation as a new chance to start over and make better choices, Biggs becomes riddled with SurvivorGuilt and struggles to hold on to hope, often finding himself on the brink of despair and only pushed forward through Zack's encouragement. Zack decides to follow a different path and refuses to be held down by his past ties to Shinra, while Biggs finds himself unable to let go of Avalanche and feels compelled to continue their work, no matter what.

* BeYourself: That's the whole point of her journey in ''Rebirth''. Tired of being pressured by Mirielle to follow in her footsteps to become the next Guardian Angel of the Slums and being criticized for her (admittedly bad) scams, Kyrie decides to venture outside of Midgar to get away from her grandmother's criticism and expectations. After being saved from her own scam thanks to Cloud one last time and receiving encouragement from Yuffie, she finally decides to be honest with her grandmother, who admit her MyBelovedSmother tendencies. They then decide to become partners as the First and Third Guardian Angels of the Slums and return to Midgar, but not before making [[AssholeVictim Mayor Kapono]] their first victim.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Her "merc" scams in ''Rebirth'' only works because she expects Cloud to eventually arrive and do the heavily lifting for her. As Mireille point out, the moment Cloud is unable to show up on time, Kyrie would be in big trouble as she clearly hasn't thought up of a back-up plan to compensate for his absences.

* AdaptationalVillainy: The visit to Cosmo Canyon implies that the Cetra were not as benevolent as in the original game. At the very least, [[spoiler:they used the Lifestream to spy on the Gi Tribe, and when they found out about the Gi creating the Black Materia to end their suffering in undeath, they seized the Materia and cruelly left the Gi to rot instead of trying to find another way to bring them peace, but since the Gi Tribe's plan was basically a SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum and they still intend to follow through even as vengeful spirits, it's not hard to understand why the Cetra did this]].

* FlingALightIntoTheFuture: She's implied to be the means of flinging the light. ''Rebirth'' reveals that [[spoiler:whilst the Whispers stripped both Aerith and Red XIII of the future knowledge they possessed, Aerith apparently predicted this outcome, and passed her knowledge onto Marlene during their brief meeting in Sector 7. Marlene not being an active member of the party means that the Whispers overlooked her, and she's able to pass on a warning to Zack of Aerith's upcoming demise at Sepiroth's hands. It's further implied this is part of Aerith's long-term gambit regarding the future outcome of their adventure, with the role Marlene plays being yet unclear]].

* TouchedByVorlons: She seems to gain some sort of [[spoiler:greater understanding of what is happening, like Red XIII, after touching Aerith when the Sector 7 plate is about to fall. Unlike Red XIII, what she knows or learns isn't explored in ''Remake'', only being touched on a few times afterward, such as when she is about to say something to Elmyra and possibly at the end of ''Remake'' when she knows that Barret is calling out to her]]. In ''Rebirth'', it's revealed that--unlike Red XIII and Aerith, she retains [[spoiler:knowledge of the future, which she passes on to Zack by warning him that Aerith is destined to be killed by Sephiroth]].

* CoDragons: [[spoiler:To Sephiroth, alongside Jenova in ''Rebirth'' as Glenn appears to be an uniquely intelligent Sephiroth Clone who acts as Sephiroth's covert agent and causes discord among his master's enemies by using the threat of another Wutai War to manipulate people]]. However, this is seemly [[spoiler:subverted with the reveal that "Glenn" is actually a glamoured clone whom Sephiroth himself is using as a disguise]].

* {{Jerkass}}: Her main trait. Kyrie can be extremely obnoxious when she wants to, and often for nothing but petty amusement at others' expense. For example, in the Terrier timeline, she sets up a bunch of fake Avalanche recruitment posters just to see if there are people gullible enough to show up. When Biggs does, Kyrie wastes no time rubbing in to his face how "stupid" he is for having taken those posters seriously.

* ArchEnemy: To Rufus, as Glenn is seemly one of the very few people who can truly get under Rufus's skin. While Rufus is [[BaddieFlattery surprisingly playful when it comes to his rivalry with Cloud]], the new president of Shinra has nothing but hatred for Glenn.
* AssInAmbassador: Despite being sent to meet with Rufus as an emissary of Wutai's interim government, he spends much of the meeting mocking and being rude to Shinra's new president, which turns out to be justified when he admits that he wants the war between the company and Wutai to be resumed, [[spoiler: as this is Sephiroth's plan]].

* CynicIdealistDuo: The Cynic to Wedge's Idealist. Compared to the rather optimistic Wedge, the reason he's CrazyPrepared is because he tends to overanalyze things and can spend all night worrying about what could possibly go wrong. Right before the Reactor 5 mission, even Cloud tells him to take it easy. In ''Rebirth'', he also becomes the Cynic to Zack's Idealist as they both try to find new purpose after having lost almost everything they stood for. Zack focuses on the positives and doesn't let the past weight him down, while Biggs struggles to move forward without his fallen comrades at Avalanche.

* AmbiguousSituation: By the end of [[spoiler:''Rebirth'', it's unclear whether Biggs survived in the "prime" Beagle world, or if his survival was only in an offshoot reality]]. Furthermore, there is the implication that [[spoiler:the Biggs in Zack's world is somehow the same Biggs from the Beagle world whose consciousness somehow got "teleported" to the alternate timeline]], which muddies the waters further.

Hilariously in ''Rebirth'', [[spoiler:Biggs outright lampshades that he is getting more focus from story than he is comfortable with during a conversation with Zack about how he would rather have a [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall "minor role" in the overall scheme of things]]]].

* {{Foil}}: Surprisingly, he takes on one to Cloud as the games go on. Johnny basically represents Cloud if he didn't have his prodigious skills, worldly expertise, and traumatic backstory. Both have feelings for Tifa and are forced to leave Midgar by an Ex-Soldier, both find someone who takes them in but uses them all the while, both find a love interest outside Tifa who loves them despite their feelings for her, and both [[spoiler:are forced to lose something very precious to themselves]]. The biggest difference is that Johnny's comical ineptness means he doesn't see that Tifa just sees him as a friend, all his attempts to be a big hero go nowhere and just end up getting himself hurt, and [[spoiler:Johnny is able to live a new life almost immediately after seeing the J-squad go away, Cloud's mental state leaves it ambiguous how much Aerith is or is not waiting for him to return]].

* AscendedExtra: In the original game, he was just a minor recurring [=NPC=] you could talk to in Sector 7, Wall Market, and Costa del Sol. Here, he's a lot more involved due to the AdaptationExpansion the game provides, especially during the Wall Market chapter which he accompanies Cloud for a good chunk of.
