* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: She only ever thinks fondly
of hurting anyone.her mother and misses her dearly.

* OnlyFriend: Her sole friend was a girl named Janine, the one person in Tilburg who didn't think she was a witch. Naturally, Janine gets killed and Margaret is blamed for the crime.

* TheScapegoat: The Tilburg villagers are quick to blame her for Janine's disappearance, simply because she's a Fier. [[spoiler:Janine's future husband tried to pin the crime on her until Peter Sturdevant got everyone to let go of their witch hunting paranoia to connect the dots.]]
* WhiteSheep: One of the few Fier relatives to not be a murderous monster.

!!The Fear Family
The family that started it all. The Fears were wealthy benefactors of Shadyside when it was first founded and as such had great influence over the town during the 19th Century. But that was also because the Fears were practitioners of witchcraft and black magic, responsible for tormenting anyone who caught their annoyance and ultimately cursing the town forever.

[[folder:Angelica Fear]]
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/houseofwhispers.jpg]]

Angelica Fear, nee Pierce, was a SouthernBelle who came from a family of witches, and captured the heart of Simon Fear when she revealed just how ruthless she truly was after murdering her other suitors. Angelica was the family's matriarch up until the early 20th Century, when she died in the inferno that destroyed the Fear Street Mansion.

----
* TheCorrupter: She tried to force her cousin Amy Pierce towards learning the dark magic inherent in their family's blood, but was unsuccessful.
* DespairEventHorizon: She crossed it when [[spoiler: she watched Simon murder Hannah by mistake.]]
* DotingParent: To Hannah over Julia, to the degree she'll even brainwash men into loving Hannah as long as Hannah wants them.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Her two daughters and three sons.
* EvilAllAlong: Simon was shocked to learn that Angelica was not only a witch in her own right, but quite frankly more evil than he was at that point.
* EvilMatriarch: Of the Fear Family. She'll go as far as to murder other children if it means she can bring back her own daughters.
* InTheBlood: The women of the Pierce Family apparently know a thing or two about magic themselves, with Angelica demonstrating powers independent of Simon Fear's magic. This just proved to Angelica and Simon they belonged together.
* MamaBear: She's as fucked up as her husband, but they both loved their kids and didn't exactly rush them into learning the family's darker secrets. However, this didn't mean she was above ParentalFavoritism which led to [[spoiler:Julia trying to kill Hannah and Hannah killing Julia in self defense]].
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Together with Simon, by the time of their deaths in ''The Burning'' the two had successfully outlived their two daughters and three sons.
* ParentalFavoritism: Towards Hannah over Julia.
* RapeByProxy: She's considered brainwashing young men into loving Hannah for as long as Hannah's interested in them.
* SouthernBelle: A rather dark example.
* YouKilledMyFather: Inverted. When Angelica learns Simon killed her father so they could be together, she's ecstatic.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Edward Fier]]
A member of the original Fier family who lived in Wickham Village in the late 1600s, featured in ''The Betrayal''. He fell in love with Susannah Goode, much to his father's disapproval, which kickstarted the plot.

----
* ArrangedMarriage: His father arranges for him to marry a merchant's daughter far away, and rebels, being in love with Susannah at the time.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He has a moment of this when the Goode's curse rears its ugly head, realizing that he should have stood up for Susannah when his father accused her of witchcraft.
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler:He dies during a time skip, having worked himself to death while living in the wilderness to escape the curse.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: When his father tells him he's in an arranged marriage, Edward rebels against him and tells him of his love for Susannah. His father promptly sentences her to death and the Fier family is cursed by Susannah's father.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Emma Fier Reade]]
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/circleoffire.jpg]]

An elderly Fier featured in the prologue of ''Circle of Fire''. Emma kept a powerful book of spells which she was unable to pass on as she did not have any children, but she hid it in her house before she died so that others might find it.

----
* BlackAndWhiteMagic: Her book of spells doesn't appear to fall under simply "good" or "evil" but depends on how the power is used.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Comes across as one of the more innocent Fear Family members in that not much is revealed about her before she dies, but she is given the opportunity to die peacefully of old age. At the very least she avoids making any grand proclamations about all that evil may bring.
* TheDeterminator: It's said she refused to show any kind of weakness and made sure to carefully hide her spell book before dying.
* MysteriousPast: All that's said about Emma is that she was married and had no children of her own. The headmistress of Mia's school seems frightened when Mia asks her about Emma's past but doesn't elaborate, brushing it off as just stories. Of course, considering the Fear Family, even the good relatives, are ConvictedByPublicOpinion, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ezra Fier]]
Edward's son, and the father of Jonathan, featured in ''The Betrayal'' as a child, and later in ''The Secret.'' A great deal of his close family fell victim to the Goode's curse, and he grew up bitter and revenge-seeking as a result.

----
* ImDyingPleaseTakeMyMacGuffin: As he lays dying, he gives the Fier family amulet to Jonathan, pressing him to continue seeking revenge for him with it. [[spoiler:Jonathan buried the amulet and ignored his father's wishes.]]
* ParentalFavoritism: He clearly prefers Abigail over Rachel or Jonathan.
* ParentalMarriageVeto: When Jonathan is in the process of marrying Delilah, he barges into the church waving a gun around [[spoiler:as he was duped into thinking she was a Goode.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: He pursues revenge against the Goodes over the health and safety of his family.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jake Fear]]
From ''Door of Death''. Jake was an older man who fell in love with the beautiful Cassandra Ryan, a girl young enough to be his granddaughter. Cassandra stole everything that Jake owned and murdered him via poison. After death, he became a vengeful spirit that rises from the grave every Halloween to merit vengeance on those considered to be "Cheaters."

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Amy Burke. After she performs a "Backwards Supper" with her friend, Amy has a vision of Jake as her future husband. [[spoiler: The ending implicitly reveals that Jake kills Amy, and she becomes his bride in the afterlife.]]
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: As a result of Amy Burke performing the Backwards Supper, [[spoiler: and because the practical joke she pulled made ''her'' a cheater as well.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: It doesn't matter if it's someone pulling a practical joke or someone who cheats others out of their hard earned money, Jake bestows gory, sadistic death on ''anyone'' who could be called a cheater.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Jake never had any kind of romantic relationship before he met Cassie, which made it all the more easier for her to trick him into signing over his entire estate.
* ImplacableMan: Absolutely nothing can stop him from meeting out cruel "justice" on those he's marked for death.
* LonersAreFreaks: When he was alive, the people of Shadyside feared him just because he was a Fear even though he hadn't actually done anything to anyone. He didn't become evil until ''after'' he died.
* MayDecemberRomance: His doomed relationship with Cassie Ryan. [[spoiler: And later with Amy.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Cassandra stealing and destroying everything he owned for the money, manipulating his need for love, and his agonizingly slow death turned him into a sadistic monster.
* TragicMonster: Really, how could anyone ''not'' have become a monster after all the shit that was dumped on him in life?
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jamie Fier]]
From ''Heart of the Hunter''. Jamie was traveling with his family through the Cumberland Gap when they were abandoned by the superstitious pioneers and left to die. Jamie was found by the Shawnee Nation and given the power to transform into a wolf, which he has decided to use to avenge the deaths of his parents against Lucien Goode and his daughters.

----
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: Being seen by Amanda Goode, whom truly loves him, traps Jamie for all eternity in the body of a wolf.]]
* BalefulPolymorph: His first transformation was very painful.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: His quest for revenge ultimately turns him into a brutal killer.
* HoneyTrap: He tells Lucien Goode he'll rid him of his wolf problem in exchange for marrying his daughter.
* ManipulativeBastard: He terrorizes Lucien Goode's farm in his wolf form, then shows up as a hunter promising to get rid of said wolf for him in exchange for his daughter's hand in marriage. All so he can firmly destroy all three Goodes. [[spoiler: He kills Lucien, but Amanda kills Laura before he has a chance to do so, and Amanda traps him in a cage and makes him shift permanently into a wolf.]]
* MommasBoy: Subverted, in that he deeply cared for his mother Dora Mae before she died.
* NoAccountingForTaste: He used to have a crush on PrettyFreeloader Laura Goode before ultimately realizing just how spoiled and self-centered she actually is.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: He's not so much a werewolf as he can turn into an actual wolf every night.
* TheTease: A rare male version. He plays along with Amanda Goode's infatuation with him just to humiliate her when he announces his plan to marry Laura.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Becomes a VillainProtagonist and just as bad, if not worse, as Lucien Goode.
* YouKilledMyFather: He blames the deaths of his mother and father on Lucien Goode, who was the primary instigator for the hate aimed at the Fiers.

[[folder:Justin Fear]]
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/danceofdeath.jpg]]

A wealthy and handsome doctor living in the town of Shadowbrook, Justin courts the recently orphaned Madeline Simms in ''Dance of Death''.

----
* BlackWidow: He's been married four times [[spoiler: over the span of a century.]]
* TheCasanova: Is utterly charming and possesses an almost supernatural ability to court women.
* CompellingVoice: [[spoiler: He actually has the power to seduce and control women with his voice. Madeline almost falls under his sway completely before Auntie's voice is able to snap her out of it.]]
* EvilerThanThou: [[spoiler: Auntie says when other members of the Fear Family wish to scare each other, they talk about Justin.]]
* EyeScream: [[spoiler: Madeline cuts his eyes open when she's able to get close enough to him.]]
* NoImmortalInertia: [[spoiler: All it takes is for someone to physically damage his good looks in order for the youth he's stolen to wear off. Madeline accomplishes this by slashing his eyes opening, causing him to rapidly age and decay.]]
* SmugSnake: [[spoiler: All Madeline had to do was pretend Justin had an effect on her and he completely believed she was still under his control.]]
* SomethingAboutARose: He cultivates different varieties of roses. [[spoiler: It's implied his four other wives were buried in the rose garden in his mansion, as their spirits cause the roses to go berserk and engulf the mansion with their roots once Justin is finally killed.]]
* VainSorcerer: [[spoiler: He's kept himself looking young and handsome since the 18th Century by feeding off the youth and beauty of young women.]]
* YourSoulIsMine: [[spoiler: He's referred to as the Soul Stealer by Tobias and Honoria.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lucy Fier]]
A cousin of Tyler Fier who has lived with him and his family ever since her parents died in a fire. Lucy looks like a child, but she's really 17 years old. An emotionally stunted, unstable 17 year old with a collection of creepy dolls and a love of fire.

----
* AllThereInTheManual: Lucy's relation to Tyler wasn't completely clear in ''Forbidden Secrets'', but the Fear Family Tree, for whatever it's worth, showed the two were cousins whose respective fathers were brothers.
* KissingCousins: Since the Fear Family Tree revealed they are indeed related by blood, this makes her infatuation with Tyler even more disturbed than it already was.
* LonelyDollGirl: Her room is filled with identical dolls that look just like her, and she names them all Lucy. One of the few dolls that doesn't look like her got smashed, and she claims the other dolls "Killed her" out of jealousy. [[spoiler: She has a breakdown after Savannah and Tyler officially marry and destroys her dolls, sick of how Tyler keeps giving them to her.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks and acts like a child but she's a teenager and almost a woman. As it stands, she's sick of being treated younger than she is and hates Tyler for not seeing her as a woman.
* PlayingWithFire: She vividly remembers the fire that killed her parents and describes in detail the way the colors shifted as they burned. [[spoiler: This allows Victoria to frame her for setting a fire in Savannah's room. Tyler then mentions Lucy is the one who set the fire which killed her parents, but whether or not this was true or Tyler trying to scare Savannah is still up for debate.]]
* PunnyName: Lucifer, anyone?

[[folder:Margaret Fier]]
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/handofpower.jpg]]

A citizen of the village of Tilburg from ''The Hand of Power''. Margaret was ostracized by the other villagers because of her psychic abilities, and they hunted her down believing she murdered her best friend. Margaret was saved by Peter Sturdevant, the handsome and reclusive village patroon, but Margaret soon fond herself immersed in the search for Peter's family legacy, a severed human hand capable of great power.

----
* BlessedWithSuck: She has the power of {{psychometry}}, and because of this she's afraid to handle anything that has belonged to someone else as she can't control the ghastly visions it will bring.
* BurnTheWitch: Surprisingly averted. The villagers planned to hang her when they finally caught her.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: She traveled to the new world with her mother, but she died shortly afterwards.
* DamselInDistress: Is saved from the mob by Peter, and he gets them off her back for good by exposing the actual killer they were after. Unfortunately, being with Peter puts her in more distress thanks to the hand's corruption.
* DarkIsNotEvil: The only thing "dark" about Margaret is her psychic power, which she has no control over and isn't exactly capable of hurting anyone.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: She helps Peter destroy the hand once and for all, saving him from the same insanity that plagued his grandmother and allowing the two to live in peace.
* LoveMartyr: To Peter Sturdevant. She loves him so much she's practically desperate to find his family's heirloom to repay his kindness, even after Peter begs her not to look for it without him.
* NiceGirl: Margaret is one of the nicest relatives of the Fear Family ever featured in the whole franchise. She's not evil, has no ulterior motives or hidden dark side, and doesn't suffer any horrible fate just because of her family tree. In fact, just about everyone ''else'' in ''The Hand of Power'' was evil or cruel.
* PsychicPowers: {{Psychometry}}, which allows her to experience the past of whoever owned the object. However, the only way Margaret can have visions is if the person had a very strong, emotional connection to the object, or they experienced something traumatic or emotionally charged while wearing or using said object.

[[folder:Priscilla Fier]]
A wealthy cousin of Trevor Fier and the richest woman in the village of Shadow Glen. Priscilla appears in ''One Last Kiss'', where she offers her home to Eleanor Rawlins after the death of her father. But Priscilla has two secrets: [[spoiler: she's not only the queen of the vampire colony that resides in Shadow Glen, she's also Eleanor's long believed to be dead birth mother.]]

----
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: [[spoiler: She loved being a vampire so much she acquired enough power to become the queen of her colony.]]
* EvilMatriarch: [[spoiler: Both as the queen of her vampire colony ''and'' as Eleanor's long-assumed dead mom. She proved to be more vindictive than the rest of her vampire brethren and is determined to convert Eleanor or even kill her if Eleanor fights back.]]
* InNameOnly: [[spoiler: She's not related to Trevor in any way. She only took the name "Fier" and pretended to be his cousin to get closer to Eleanor.]]
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler: She's Mrs. Rawlins.]]
* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:She presents herself as a wealthy and generous woman, offering her home to Eleanor in her time of need and doting on her because Eleanor's fond of Trevor. It eventually turns out Priscilla's really Eleanor's mom and was grooming her to become a vampire, having waited for Eleanor to grow up before attempting to convert her. She also played multiple mind games with Trevor with Eleanor as the prize.]]
* NiceGirl: She offers Eleanor a place to stay in her lavish mansion after Mr. Rawlins is killed, and acts nothing but hospitable to Eleanor. [[spoiler: It's mostly an act, as Priscilla is indeed a very vicious and power hungry vampire.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Becomes one to Eleanor after losing her father, but this gets subverted. [[spoiler: She actually ''is'' Eleanor's mom.]]
* RichBitch: Is considered the richest and most affluent woman in Shadow Glen.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Eleanor and Trevor.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sarah Fear]]
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/awakeningevil.jpg]]

The Fear who was deeply connected to the plight of the cheer squad in ''Fear Street Cheerleaders'', as the Evil Spirit festered in Sarah's grave before the bus crash awoke it. She's the focus of ''The Awakening Evil'', which not only explains her origins but the Evil Spirit's as well.

----
* ArrangedMarriage: Her wedding to Thomas Fear was set up by Sarah's grandmother Althea.
* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler: The woman called Sarah Fear should've been called Jane Fear. Jane Hardy switched places with her best friend, Sarah Burns, when Sarah was engaged to wed Thomas Fear. Jane took on Sarah's name and relied on the fact that no one in Shadyside ever met Sarah Burns before. After Sarah, in Jane's place, died in a boat accident, Jane no longer had the option of revealing her true name. Unfortunately, because of this Sarah Burns returned to haunt Jane, claiming Jane was the one who should've died and vowed to destroy her life. So while Sarah ''Fear'' wasn't the Evil Spirit, Sarah ''Burns'' was.]]
* ConvictedByPublicOpinion: No one ever learned the real truth about the Evil Spirit, so people assumed Sarah herself was evil and responsible for the myriad of deaths that occurred around her. Technically, they were right in one regard. [[spoiler: It was ''a'' Sarah responsible for the deaths, but not the Sarah they were thinking of.]]
* DemonicPossession: As the first host for the Evil Spirit.
* GoodAllAlong: ''Fear Street Cheerleaders'' implies she was evil or at least complicit in creating the Evil Spirit. [[spoiler: She wasn't. Jane was possessed the whole time and fought to trap the Spirit inside her body so it wouldn't kill anyone else.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: After Sarah Burns tries possessing her one last time, Jane realizes her only option to stop Sarah is to kill herself, thereby trapping Sarah's vengeful soul inside her dead body. And it worked... until Sarah possessed Jennifer's body in ''The First Evil''.]]
* MamaBear: Becomes one to her niece and nephew. [[spoiler: Jane tried to pull off her sacrifice to save Margaret and Michael from being killed, but unfortunately their boat on Fear Lake capsized and they drowned anyway.]]
* SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan: Sarah was the can.

[[folder:Simon Fear]]
The most well-known member of the Fear Family besides his wife, Angelica, Simon was the family's patriarch up until the start of the 20th Century. After losing most of his loved ones at the hands of the Goode Family, Simon believed that the only way to survive was through obtaining power, and tried to alter his family's destiny by changing the spelling of their last name to "F-E-A-R" from "F-I-E-R."

----
* BeingEvilSucks: His inability to recognize messing with his family's evil power would only cause misfortune doomed him and his entire family. Sure he married a woman he loved, got rich, and had five kids, but by the end of his life [[spoiler:he outlived all five of his children (one he killed by accident), his wife's insane, and they're both loathed recluses.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: Thought he could still take advantage of his family's dark legacy without succumbing to the curse. [[spoiler:He was wrong to the degree he got to watch all his kids die and eventually did himself and Angelica in thanks to his stubborn refusal to let go of his hatred for the Goodes.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: The ending of ''The Secret'' showed how he crossed into becoming a sadistic asshole.
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:He ''literally'' died before he was ever willing to make peace with the Goode Family, even though he had nothing to lose with Daniel marrying Nora.]]
* InsaneTrollLogic: He genuinely believed altering his last name was enough to protect him from a curse that's hounded his family for centuries.
* TheLoad: The events of ''The Burning'' showed Simon eventually became this for the Fear Family as a whole. [[spoiler: None of the Goodes were responsible for the harm done to his and Angelica's children or grandchildren. It was Simon's paranoia and favoritism of Hannah over Julia that led to the deaths of both daughters, which eventually alienated them from their sons who died later on. His refusal to ever make peace with the Goodes directly led to his, Angelica, and Daniel's death when he violently protested Daniel's marriage to Nora Goode.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: Had no qualms of using his power to threaten anyone who crossed him or to just get whatever he wanted.
* OffingTheOffspring: [[spoiler: In a moment of panic, he confused his daughter Hannah with the servant girl Lucy Goode and killed her. This drove Angelica insane and turned her and Simon into recluses.]]
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Together with Angelica, by the time of their deaths in ''The Burning'' the two had successfully outlived their two daughters and three sons.
* PapaWolf: Like Angelica, they may be messed up, but they'd do anything to protect their children. [[spoiler:And yet he ended up killing at least one of them.]]
* TooDumbToLive: His idea to spare his family from the curse, by changing the spelling of their last name from "F-I-E-R" to "F-E-A-R," wasn't short-sighted so much as it was completely stupid. Other than this, Simon does absolutely nothing to distance himself or his surviving relatives from their family's evil heritage and he refuses to make peace with the Goode Family. [[spoiler: He also accidentally started the fire that burned down the Fear Street Mansion and killed him, his wife Angelica, and their grandson Daniel when he learned Daniel married Nora Goode.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Until he lost his parents and one of his sisters.
* YouCantFightFate: He thought he could outsmart his family's curse by changing the spelling of their last name. [[spoiler: He couldn't.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tyler Fier]]
From ''Forbidden Secrets''. Tyler is a wealthy Northerner who courts SouthernBelle Savannah Gentry, but when the Civil War begins Savannah chooses her home over Tyler, and he swears she'll regret that decision.

----
* DarkIsEvil: Has jet black hair and dark eyes, and lives in a mansion literally devoid of color.
* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler: It turns out Tyler died at the Battle of Gettysburg, but has been keeping himself alive by feeding off of living people. His first victim was Savannah's brother, who was also the man who originally killed him.]]
* IfICantHaveYou: He's extremely bitter over Savannah choosing the South instead of him.
* KissingCousins: Subverted. Lucy's implied to be his cousin and is romantically obsessed with him, but Tyler sees her only as a child at best and a burden at worst and has no desire to fuel her delusions.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: [[spoiler: He's some kind of ghoul who kept himself alive by feeding on other people, but it's not clear if he feeds of blood or human energy.]]
* ShellShockedVeteran: He fought in the Civil War and claims to be haunted by his actions on the battlefield. After returning to Blackrose Manor, he starts slashing up his family portraits ranting they don't understand what he had to do to survive.
* SomethingAboutARose: He lives in Blackrose Manor, a mansion appropriately named after the multitude of black roses growing on the grounds.
