In this case he's the legend of Bluebeard exculsively, seperated from the historial Gilles. As such he has no memory of things the real Gilles did, like supporting Jeanne.

After his death his life influenced a heroic character like Charlamagne to Karl der Große, Dietrich von Bern. Here however he is summoned in another capacity as the leader of the Wild Hunt and he is now riding the feared Beast of Gevaudan.
