* ButtMonkey: Like in canon, it’s stated that if Ai, Mai and Mii get involved with her... this is bound to happen. Unlike in canon however, this has only been stated by WordOfGod since Chinami has been the only DEM wizard to be shown to have been physically affected by this.

* MoralityPet: According to WordOfGod, she represents the little bit of good that exists in Westcott. As a result, her death guarantees he becomes irredeemable.

* PutOnABus: After the end of the Sephira Fury arc, the DEM's gone quiet. In the Mayuri Judgment adaption, its revealed that Shinigami's sealed off the Inverse Void, leaving Westcott unable to bother anyone for a while.

** During the crossover, he seems to do this to one of his own wizards as he starts to fully inherit the Devil's powers.

* OlderThanTheyLook: He's at least 50 years old by now, but like most who were in the First Spacequake's vacinity, it made him uanble to die of old age.

** When he sees Shinigami kill off a force of 500 wizards sent to capture her without even trying, he actually makes the DEM erase her existence. This is partially justified by him knowing Ellen would try to fight it, and knowing despite her strength, he didn't want to risk her getting killed.

* RunningBothSides: Had Marina gain the Dark Reiryoku of the Spirits during the Choronon arc by shooting everyone with somthing that gave them a sample after an inversion happened, or gathering it from the Inverse clones that Choronzon created.
* WasOnceAMan: As of the crossover's ending, he's starting to truly reincarnate into the Devil, with the first signs being horns, and black sclera.
* TheWorfEffect: Shinigami seals the Inverse Void, leaving Westcott unable to escape or do anything for a while, just to showcase how dangerous the abnormal Spirit really is.

** Another reason Westcott erased all traces of Shinigami, because he knew she'd tried to fight her, even though she'd likely lose and be killed in the process.

* AdaptionalVillainy: In canon, he was just part of the DEM's board of directors, here his schemes are said to be second only to Westcott in how nasty they can be. He's also fairly willing to let the other board members get their hands amputated just to create blackmail to use against Westcott.

* BritishNazis: Most of the cruelest and worst characters are part of the DEM, and the main HQ is stationed in England. [[spoiler:The base is destroyed when Europe, and by extension all of England, is destroyed by Choronzon]].
* HopeSpot: The DEM turned what was meant to be a Class-2 ApocalypseHow into a Class-1 type through the Realizer technology, but Westcott and his more loyal members in the DEM have darker plans, and will eventually pull this on the world while they're ignorant of their true nature. Ratatoskr's main purpose is to stop this. [[spoiler:By the Choronzon arc, the world is now aware of this intent]].

* TheConspiracy: He caused the entire series simply by trying to open a portal to the Spirit Dimension, and then covered up he was responsible and repaired the damage for the 2 billion survivors. [[spoiler:Despite being exposed at the end of Season 2, he's still going and Season 3 seems to imply he know something that leaves another conspiracy that hasn't been revealed yet]].

Seigo fell in love with the Spirits and wanted to support co-existence... Westcott saw the spirits as tool and [[spoiler:killed all but a single Spirit]].
* GrandTheftMe: He took control of [[spoiler:Kurumi's body during the end of the Kurumi arc]].

However, when she appeared in the Miku arc [[spoiler:to just kidnap Shido? She succeeds]].
** [[spoiler:This is what ends up causes her death. During the Mukuro arc, when she and Artemisia charge at each other to deal the final blow in their battle... some of the Arbitel's debris flies towards her, leaving her defenseless just long enough for Artemisia to deal the finishing blow]].

* EvilCounterpart: To a few characters. Her younger sister Karen for the reasons listed in CainAndAbel, [[spoiler:Ratatoskr’s strongest wizard Artemisia since she mentions she's the one wizard who could give her trouble]], and Tohka who is the love interest of their respective side's main male and fight using swords with slight light range capabilities.

* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:As shown by mentions and flashbacks, she has killed many past possessors of the Sephira Crystals. In fact, she's the one responsible for killing every named former host, flashbacks showing she was Saya and Souji’s murderer]].
* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:She's killed by the only person that didn't die when she destroyed Ratatoskr's England branch, Artemisia. As a bonus, she never discovered Artemisia survived because she left without checking, Artemisia makes sure to verify she truly defeated Ellen in case she survived her final attack]].

* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:She's ultimately done in by Artemisia, the strongest wizard in Ratatoskr, who kills her by using her territory to unleash a super powered explosion of Maryoku. Ellen survives a few moments, still declaring she's the strongest before her dead body drops towards the Earth]].
* MoralityPet: [[spoiler:According to WordOfGod, she represents the little bit of good that exists in Westcott. As a result, her death guarantees he becomes irredeemable]].

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: How badly did her loss to Tohka [[spoiler:in the Yamai arc]] affect her? She ''uses Tohka's name'' instead of any of her codenames, that's how badly she wants to make the Energy Spirit pay.
* {{Pride}}: While she actually admits her loses, this is still her FatalFlaw that occasionally causes her defeat. [[spoiler:Ultimately... it also causes her death when she fights Artemisia]].
** The worst case of this is when Tohka defeats her in the Yamai arc by... dropping her into [[MundaneMadeAwesome a pitfall]].

* SmugSuper: She has the habit of looking down on Spirits, particularly Tohka who she was able to eventually overpower in her Inverse Form. [[spoiler:It's taken to [[UnderestimatingBadassery its logical conclusion]] when she confronts Tohka in the Yamai arc, only to discover Tohka’s never been using her full power and then loses. She still intends to make Tohka pay for this defeat]].

* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:She's the entire reason that Artemisia ever became a wizard under Ratatoskr]].

* UnderestimatingBadassery: [[spoiler:In the Yamai arc, she thinks her new Arthur CR-Unit will make her cream Tohka... and then she and Tohka both realize she hasn’t been using her full power all this time. Needless to say, Ellen loses again, though due to Tohka making her fall into a hole she gets stuck in for a bit]].
* VillainBall: [[spoiler:She destroyed Ratatoskr's England branch 12 years ago, where Artemisia and her parents were, but she leaves without seeing if anyone survived. Needless to say, Artemisia would grow up to become the one who would ultimately surpass her and end her threat for good]].

* WorldsBestWarrior: She thinks she’s this, but certain Spirit powers put this into question, [[spoiler:especially after losing to Tohka]]. There’s also the fact she considers Artemisia is the one wizard who could challenge her.

The Adeptus 3 of DEM, and a very dangerous wizard. Jessica was once a torturer, and had ties to the DEM through her mother, eventually becoming a wizard in the organization and one of the few people Westcott trusts. [[spoiler:She later gets promoted to Adeptus 2 after the death of Minerva and Artemisia's return to Ratatoskr]].

* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler:In her final moments, she asks Mana if she'll finally see her mother again when she dies, and Mana is kind enough to tell her that she will see her when she dies, allowing her to at least go with a smile. Despite how cruel she was, Jessica was simply a girl who missed her dead mother]].

* AttackAttackAttack: [[spoiler:When she transforms her Scarlet Licorice into the Black Licorice, it becomes incompatible with her, causing the straing to kill her slowly. Even Mana doesn't believe she deserves this, and she gives her a MercyKill]].

* TheBerserker: When outfitted with the Scarlet Licorice, Jessica's battle strategy basically becomes "spamming the enemy to death." [[spoiler:Unfortunately for her, this becomes fatal when she turns it into the Black Licorice, which she's incompatible with]].

* LegacyCharacter: [[spoiler:While not initially due to her starting as Adeptus 3, her mother, Victoria, once held the position of Adeptus 2 until her death]].
* LetThemDieHappy: [[spoiler:Just before she dies, Mana confirms she will see her mother again when she dies, hearing that lets Jessica die in peace]].
* MercyKill: [[spoiler:When the Black Licorice ultimate begins killing her, Mana decides to end her suffering]].

[[spoiler:Eventually, she's revealed to be Origami's cousin, her parents were planning to adopt her, but the day she arrived was the day the Tenguu Fire started... and where she saw Origami kill her parents. The sight made a deep hate and rage grow in her heart, and she decided the Spirits must be purged, enough that even after Origami explained the truth, she refuses to see the Spirits as anything but monsters to put down. She holds some secret, one she wants to stay as such]].

* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler:The real Chinami was killed when she was very young, the robot her was made using her stolen soul as both Murdock’s assurance against Westcott if he went crazy (though it backfired as she’d join his most loyal ranks), and to kill Origami’s parents]].
* DefeatEqualsExplosion: [[spoiler:A self-inflicted example, she makes herself explode in order to try and summon Westcott, allowing him to kill everyone with the Diabolos, it would have worked if Mio hadn't shown up]].

* LongLostRelative: [[spoiler:She’s Origami’s cousin, and would have become her adoptive sister if her parents hadn’t died]].

* RedHerring: [[spoiler:When it seems like she might spare Origami upon hearing what happened to her parents, Chinami just shrugs it off, and still tries to kill her]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Her hatred against Origami is this, due to seeing her [[spoiler:murder her parents who intended to adopt her]].
* RoboticReveal: [[spoiler:After Mukuro is sealed, she tries to attack the group, but Tohka ends up stopping it while cutting off her arm, revealing its mechanical]].
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:She's the cause behind the Inverse Form's discovery, having caused Origami to enter it when she believed that she had killed her parents due to manipulating Metatron]].

* ThisCannotBe: [[spoiler:His final moments are wondering how the Fraxinus was able to beat the much more highly advanced Arbatel in their battle to rescue Mukuro]].

* CrazyPrepared: Along with the three Humpty Dumpty satellites, he prepares blackmail to Westcott, and [[spoiler:creates the robot version of Chinami]] as insurance against Westcott’s acts with capturing the Spirits seem as more of an obsession.

A dangerous wizard of the DEM, and the former Ace of the SSS, also known among Ratatoskr as their greatest traitor. She's an immoral woman who craves power, and isn't afraid to betray anyone to get it if someone offers her something more. [[spoiler:When Artemisia is abandoned by the DEM is put into a coma, Minerva briefly becomes the new Adeptus 2, using a CR-Unit with the former's memories in it]].

* TheAce: Started as this in the SSS back when it was just her and Ashley, but after Cecile joins, she eventually gets surpassed by [[spoiler:Artemisia]].
* AlwaysSecondBest: [[spoiler:Minerva was always this compared to Artemisia, as where she tried to be the best by force and domination, Artemisia was kind and supportive. It enraged her so much, she ended up joining the DEM]].
* ArchEnemy: With [[spoiler:Artemisia]], but its one-sided on her end. She also created this one with Mana [[spoiler:after she scarred her other eye]].
* BerserkButton: [[spoiler:Artemisia is a huge one for her, being the former Ace in the SSS until she slowly takes it away from her, but it isn't until Artemisia scars her while protecting her friends that its cemented into her mind]].

* TheBully: She made fun of Ashley, and purposely let Cecile's secret of being crippled be exposed to the others, all just because it was ''fun'' to her, and makes her feel above everyone else. [[spoiler:This is another reason she hates Artemisia, she never let her bullying affect her, and rendered the bullying she did to others moot]].
* DeathByIrony: [[spoiler:After having used a CR-Unit that gave her Artemisia's abilities for so long, and then becoming a giant machine monster to crush the SSS and Mana, she's killed by Artemisia's spirit lending her CR-Unit to Mana, giving the latter the strength to kill her]].

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: [[spoiler:Even in her final moments, she never understands why Artemisia was better than her.]].
* EvilCounterpart: To the AST wizards, as she's the only known wizard who was allied to Ratatoskr that [[spoiler:turned traitor to them ''willingly'']].
* GoodScarsEvilScars: She has a huge scar on her left eye, given to her courtesy of [[spoiler:Artemisia]] for trying to hurt her friends. [[spoiler:She later gets a matching scar from Mana on her other eye]].

* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:Subverted. While she thought she killed Kotori, she had undermined her own efforts by making her Inverse, allowing her to survive an otherwise fatal blow with her strengthened regeneration]].
* InstantArmor: Her original CR-Unit, the Manticore, which focused on stealing power to strengthen its territory. Then after [[spoiler:replacing Artemisia as Adeptus 2, the Basilisk, which has Artemisia’s skills implanted into her, and has many powers similar to the creature its named after]].

* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:When she discovers Cecile is paralyzed from the waist down, she knocks her off her wheelchair and makes sure the others come to see her, exposing her secret to them]].

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[spoiler:She could have actually killed Saya/Kotori if she hadn't caused her to enter her Inverse Form, which had cheat-level regeneration abilities]].
* PsychoticSmirk: The only reason she's not worse than Westcott, with how she acts, one has to wonder if she lost her sanity when [[spoiler:Artemisia scarred her left eye]].
* RankUp: [[spoiler:Becomes the new Adeptus 2 when Artemisia's outlived her usefullness]].
* RivalTurnedEvil: [[spoiler:She was once part of Ratatoskr via the SSS, but when Artemisia joined the group, she slowly lost her status as the group's ace and eventually betrayed Ratatoskr, becoming a member of the DEM]].
* ScarsAreForever: She has a huge scar on her left eye, [[spoiler:and then Mana gives her one on her right]].

* MusclesAreMeaningless: Though his Demon King provides a justification for this, as it enhances one's physical strength. He fought on-par with Elliot Woodman, who has proven strong enough to overpower even a Demon King with his strikes. He also has no real difficulty to deny a Spirit's attack.
* ANaziByAnyOtherName: Considering how the Deus.Ex.Machina Industries has several fascist parallels with Nazi Germany, Westcott is a stand-in for Adolf Hitler. However, as a businessman version.
