Oddly, though, each truck purchased gives you control of a different satellite, [[FridgeLogic leading some players to wonder why, if they have all these satellites up there, they can't just use them]] ''[[FridgeLogic all at once]]''. However, given that the Allies are clearly obsessed with data security ("clearance" must be purchased in order to deploy more advanced weapons), [[FridgeBrilliance it does make a kind of sense]] for them not to give you too many at once.

* CoolPlane: RedAlert3 gives Allied the Vindicator. It's stubby, not terribly fast, carries just two little bombs, and can't even kill other aircraft. What it can and will do is consistantly and ''constantly'' knock out enemy resource collectors, vehicles, buildings and just about anything else. It's like a little sniper rifle you point at whatever you want dead and let fly. ''Entire strategies'' were built around the reliable little guy, and it pretty much entirely defined Allied strategy throughout the patch cycle.

* MacrossMissileMassacre: In ''Red Alert 3'', Dreadnoughts can utterly spam targets with missiles--''really, really huge missiles'' (these are full battleships after all), but at the expense of the unit's health. Allied [=IFVs=] and missile turrets can spam nearly as bad as a Rocket Angel, however, if you put a Javelin soldier in there, and the Soviet Twinblade attacks targets simply by unloading a ton of rockets onto it.
*** Oh, not ''simply'' -- the Twinblade also uses [[MoreDakka tons of machine guns]].
*** In the final Rising Sun mission, the Soviets use increasingly improbable uses of this trope, spamming first [[DeathFromAbove their satellite-drop power]] and then [[NukeEm their superweapons]] at certain [[CutscenePowerToTheMax predefined points]]. It doesn't save them.

* MacrossMissileMassacre: Their Aegis Missile Cruiser starts off as a powerful anti-air unit that fires damaging missiles at targets. However, as it begins to rack up kills and gain promotions (which isn't too hard as it's pretty good at its job) it gets becomes even ''more'' powerful and fires missiles nonstop.
*** To elaborate: An elite (fully promoted) Aegis Cruiser can destroy a [[MightyGlacier Kirov Airship]] in ''three seconds''.
** ''Red Alert 2'''s Rocket IFV is quite capable of triple-M'ing when it's fully promoted. Rack up as many elite Rocket IFVs and you can guarantee that you'll have a ''real'' triple-M show.

--> ''FOR MOTHER RUSSIA!''

The original CommieLand. The Soviet Union's expansion was facilitated by Albert Einstein's mistake whilst trying to prevent the horrors of World War 2. Without Nazi Germany to keep him in check Joseph Stalin takes the Soviet Union to unprecedented heights, allowing him to launch an invasion of Western Europe. The Soviet Military Doctrine revolves around the concept of superior firepower, ground superiority and reliance on highly advanced but conventionally based techonlogies, relying primarily on heavy armor divisions, but the Soviets are known for employing cheap infantry in the role of armor support. Generally Soviet forces are either equal in speed or slower compared to the Allies. The slow-moving nature of the juggernaut that is the Soviet military war machine is compensated by their raw strength and durability.

-----

* ActionBomb:
** Their M.A.D. Tanks in Aftermath that self-destructs in a large shock waves damaging vehicles and structures in a large area.
** Red Alert 2 also sees the return of the Demolition Truck for the Soviets (for Libya at least), now driven by a human and the Terrorist for Cuba who is a suicide bomber. Crazy Ivans can plant bombs on friendly units to make the suicide bombers. It is a popular tactic online to use these on Attack Dogs.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Nuke trucks were introduced in ''Command and Conquer: Red Alert'' and reinstated in ''Red Alert 2''. It's ''ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin'', a truck with a suicide bombing capability on the in-game nuke proportions. Only problem was it was made out of dry wood; one or two bullets was enough to set it off prematurely.
** They're useful in [=RA2=] if you build the [[DeflectorShield Iron Curtain]] superweapon. Hit a few trucks with it and send them into the enemy base. Then wait for the invulnerability effect to wear off and watch the fireworks. Don't do it in [=RA1=], though, as the invulnerability fades after only a second.
* BlandNameProduct: Their MiG aircraft in the third game is called "Mikevich-Guroyan", instead of the real life "Mikoyan-Gurevich".
* BondOneLiner: The Desolator from Red Alert 2 and the Shock Trooper from Red Alert: The Aftermath.
* ButtMonkey: The Soviet Hammer Tank instructor in ''Red Alert 3'', during the tutorial. He is the one who is shot at the most by the other instructors (Allied Guardian Tank and Rising Sun Tsunami Tank) in annoyance for dumb questions, getting on their nerves, etc. Also, it's usually the Soviet army that the Tsunami Tank's "training robots" are modeled after. In the last tutorial mission, however, [[spoiler: he causes a FunnyBackgroundEvent where he slinks away and comes back as an ''Apocalypse Tank'', causing the Tsunami Tank, his main bully, to do a DoubleTake.]]
* CarFu: The Apocalypse Tank in Red Alert 3 takes this to new levels, being able to crush smaller tanks. Its secondary weapon is a Magnetic Harpoon that pulls helpless tanks towards it.
** If you didn't think that was enough, the Soviet [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Grinder]] that was introduced in the expansion takes this UpToEleven being able to crush any surface units and is even amphibious.
** While the Sickles mainly use their machine guns to take out infantry, they can also use their Flea Leap ability to land on and crush them.
* CastFromHitPoints: In Red Alert 3, Dreadnought's special ability allows it to fire twice as fast, but this damages it in the process. The Kirov can temporarily [[NitroBoost boost their speed significantly]], but this also burns its health up.
* CripplingOverspecialization:
** Additionally, in ''Red Alert 3'', the Apocalypse Tank (a Mammoth Tank {{Expy}}) has lost its anti-aircraft missiles in favor of a big magnet that pulls enemy vehicles towards its circular saw. Basically, the tank has been redesigned to be more effective against vehicles, something it was already good at, while leaving it vulnerable against airstrikes.
** Hammer Tank also played with it, since its special ability is an absorption beam which in addition of draining the HP of the enemy while repairing itself, but is also able to steal the weapon of enemy vehicles destroyed while it is targetting them, effectively giving the Hammer Tank a second primary weapon, and possibly an ability to engage air targets.
* CivilWarcraft: The Soviet campaigns in Red Alert 2 and 3 necessitates the elimination of another Soviet general whom the Soviet leader has declared inconvenient to keep around. Of course it's only a matter of time before [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness they try to do the same to you]].
* ColonyDrop: In Red Alert 3, Soviets drop [[DeathFromAbove old satellites from orbit]] as a form of attack. Lowest level drops Sputniks, the highest level drops the MIR space station. It's [[SlapOnTheWristNuke surprisingly impotent for an object that size, though]].
** An ability also allows the same Soviet satellite to magnetically pick up vehicles and add them to the satellite barrage the next time one chooses to use it. Hilariously fun if you picked up aircraft carriers and battleships beforehand and chucked them at something.
** Even more hilarious once you find out the magnetic beam works on ''Tesla Troopers''. Supplementing the space station with [[CherryTapping powered armored soldiers]] is CrowningMomentOfFunny.
* ColorCodedArmies: The Soviets are red
* CoolAirship: Kirovs.
* DayOfTheJackboot: When the Soviets invade the United States in ''Red Alert 2'' and ''3''. In [=RA2=] alone, they destroy the Pentagon, bombard the Statue of Liberty into rubble, mind-control the US president, [[RuleOfCool turn the Eiffel Tower into a giant tesla coil]], shut down Wall Street (complete with infantry march), and start expanding into space.
* DeathFromAbove: The Soviets in Red Alert 3 have a satellite that can pull enemy vehicles into orbit, and drop them back down later. Then they can dump a satellite right on your head. There's also Kirov Airships.
* DirtyCommunists: To the extent that even when you're ''playing as them'' they still come across as [[{{Jerkass}} jerks]]:
--->'''[[TimCurry Premier Cherdenko]]:''' We will sign this treaty, we will come together as brothers, and then... we will crush them!
* EmpathyDollShot: Right at the start of the original Soviet campaign, as the Soviet air force strafes fleeing villagers.
** To make this one worse, it's a '''Victory''' cutscene from a Soviet mission. [[CrueltyIsTheOnlyOption The player was the one directing the air raid]]. And since it was the first mission, it was an easy mission, with not much fighting back. Gives the player a warning though: If you wanted to play the good guys, put the Allied Disk in your CD drive ''right now''!
** Not at all helped by the fact that the Briefing, where you are given the order by none other than JosefStalin himself, there is a slideshow of the aftermath of a chemical gas (possibly ''SARIN'') attack.
* EverythingsWorseWithBears:
** The Soviets in Red Alert 3 have Attack Bears. They go down in a few hits, but can instantly kill any infantry in close combat and disable them with roars.
** One of the Allied Spy's unit responses is "I don't like bears...", which is justified by the War Bear's ability to sniff out and maul spies.
*** On the DVD extras the actors cannot believe it. Watch as George Takei tries to get his head around it ("Battle Bears? B E A R S?") or Autumn Reeser laughing as she asks for an explanation.
** In Challenge mode there's the Ursa Major. A bear the size of an Apocalypse Tank that can maul buildings to death, and is best taken out by bomber planes.
* EvilLaugh: Their [[MadBomber Crazy Ivan]] from Red Alert 2.
* EvilIsHammy
* FactionCalculus: Powerhouse, and just to drive that point home they completely lack an infiltrator unit like the spy or the Shinobi.
* FakeNationality: The Soviet Union is led by an Englishman and their top scientist is a Swede.
* FastballSpecial: The "Bullfrog" in Red Alert 3 doesn't deploy troops normally. Instead, it ''lauches'' them out of a "man-cannon."
** This includes the aforementioned War Bears, as well as the creepy tank eating Terror Drones.
* FrickinLaserBeams: One Soviet mission in Yuri's Revenge puts you on the moon of all places. As the lack of a breathable atmosphere poses a problem for your infantry, you instead get jetpack-cosmonauts with laser guns.
* GatlingGood: Their Sentry Gun in Red Alert 2.
* GloriousMotherRussia
* {{Lzherusskie}}: Most of the Soviet cast in Red Alert 3, except Oleg.
* HistoricalVillainDowngrade: After the first game. The first game gives what many accounts would consider an accurate depiction of Stalin's regime, but in the next two games they're just a joke.
* HurricaneOfPuns:
** Tesla Troopers with electricity puns such as "Here is your electric bill", " No Resistance" , "Like a Christmas tree", "Why so negative?".
** This started with the Shock Troopers from the first game's add-on pack, ''The Aftermath''. "Extra crispy!" "Fully charged!" "''Shocking!''"
** The ''[=RA2=]'' Desolators spout nuclear and environmental puns, such as "[[TheBeatles Here Comes The Sun!]]" and "It will be a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Spring Silent Spring]]." Given the nature of the Desolator and the timeframe of the game, this could even be a HistoricalInJoke.
* ILoveNuclearPower: The Soviets want to marry it. Of particular note are the Desolators. In ''Red Alert 2'', they come with a radiation beam that skeletonizes infantry, and have a secondary ability that can deny a sizeable tract of land to your enemies. In ''Uprising'' they have a [[DisSimile chemical sprayer]] and an acid shotgun/cannon reducing enemy amour. Heavily so.
* JustAStupidAccent
* KillItWithFire: Their flame infantry and flame towers in the first game.
* LightningGun: All those Soviet ''Tesla'' weapons.

* MolotovCocktail: Used/Consumed (though you may argue it is Vodka) by Conscripts and Mortar Cycles.

** If FridgeLogic comes into play, this is averted in the ''Command & Conquer Red Alert'' series, in that Soviet Conscripts are twice portrayed as inferior to Allied soldiers (GI's and Peacekeepers). The [[TankGoodness Apocalypse Tanks]], however...
*** This was only true from the second game on. In the first, the Soviet infantry was vastly superior to the Allied forces in terms of sheer strength, with only the Allies' [[WeHaveReserves ability to field more units at a cheaper rate]] allowing them to keep up. They also had much stronger tanks, could defend their bases with [[ShockAndAwe Tesla Coils]], and had a number of advantages in the air as well. Their only weak spot was in the navy, as their only ship (Submarines) is useful only against ships and sinks after only a few hits.
* NamesTheSame: Nikolai (Krukov and Moskvin)
** Players unfamiliar with the game may get a bit of nostalgia when they first hear of the name "General Krukov", which is one letter away from the famous traitor "Kukov" from [=RA1=]. [[spoiler: Turns it out may have been intentional, as guess who betrays you about halfway through the Soviet Campaign?]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: From [=RA2=] and [=RA3=], many of the Soviet units. The [[EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt Apocalypse]] [[TankGoodness Tank]], Desolators, Reapers, Harbingers, Terror Drones...
* NationalWeapon: Their [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Apocalypse]] [[TankGoodness Tank]] and the Iron Curtain.
** The [[CoolAirship Kirov]] has similarly been immortalized by the Soviets.
* NighInvulnerability: Their Iron Curtain in the second and third games temporarily makes a few buildings or vehicles immune to all damage. It kills infantry, though.
* NukeEm: Employed by the Soviets in the Allied campaign of Red Alert. As the Allies turn the tide of the war and are steadily advancing across Europe into the Soviet Union, Stalin decides to destroy the primary capitals and cities of the European Allies with the nuclear weapons his scientists have recently developed, while using his own forces as a sacrificial lamb to draw attention away from the missile sites. The player has to capture and then infiltrate the facility to safely dismantle the weapons.
** In ''Red Alert 2'' Chicago is destroyed by a nuclear bomb after the player destroys the psychic amplifier and the USSR has no further use for the city. A technical FissionMailed too.
** In ''Red Alert 3,'' Soviet General Krukov and Premier Cherdenko go back in time and kill Einstein to prevent him from granting the Allies technological superiority. On their return, they find that Japan has become the Empire of the Rising Sun and is invading Leningrad. Krukov orders the entire Soviet nuclear arsenal to be used in defense of Leningrad. Nuclear what now? [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Oops.]]
* PowerCreepPowerSeep: The Soviets have become progressively sillier, cartoonier villains as the series ran its course, going from fear-inspiring Nazi counterparts in Red Alert 1 to near laughable villains by RedAlert3 - along with the rest of the universe, though. Uprising undoes it a bit, having a bit of seriousness (particularly the Soviet campaign). In-Game, Mammoth Tanks and their counterparts have become progressively less threatening over the series - while they were always vulnerable to good micro, by RA3 they were utterly helpless against aircraft and could be disabled by (none-too) tactful application of a freeze ray.
* RecursiveAmmo: The optional firing mode of V4 rockets.
** [=MiGs=]... with Matryoshka missiles! [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll Why the name though?]]
* RedScare: Their are the main villains of the series.
* RedsWithRockets: And they do have rockets...a ''lot'' of them.
* SelectiveMagnetism: In Red Alert 3 they are using various magnetic weapons: from magnetic harpoons to magnetic weapons that strip armor and weapons off enemy vehicles to magnets that suck units into SPACE.
* SovietSuperscience:
** Mind-controlled squids, cloning vats, Weaponized Tesla Coils, six-legged amphibious boats with double Tesla coils, armored [[EverythingIsWorseWithBears war bears]], huge zeppelins with megaton bombs, nuclear [[NegativeSpaceWedgie vacuum]] [=ICBMs=], weapon-stealing tanks, magnetic satellites [[SerialEscalation AND MORE]], the Iron Curtain, and Vacuum Imploder, among others..
** Don't forget the mancannon-equipped amphibious transports, which also function as AA support. They are quite capable of shooting the aforementioned armoured war bears. Talk about abnormal ammo...
** A mention should also be made of the mind-control radio towers that drive the plot of ''[[VideoGame/CommandAndConquerRedAlert2 Red Alert 2]]''.
** This is far less noticeable in the first Red Alert, without expansions, partially because it has ''far'' less superscience overall, and partly because the Allies aren't far behind in superscience, their teleporter balancing out a Soviet invincibility generator, leaving only the weaponized Tesla coil to shift the balance in the Soviets' favour (and even then, the Allied GPS system is arguably far enough into the future of the period for it to count as a sort of super-tech). The expansions added a lot more super-science, but on both sides, setting the trend for the future games: the Soviets have Superscience, but only ''slightly'' more than the Allies[[hottip:*:Yes, that does mean Red Alert technically fails the "far beyond their Western counterparts" part of this trope's description.]].
*** One could argue that the Soviets are actually ''lagging behind'' technologically - a large amount of the "super-science" is more or less a redux of the prior game's technology - compared to the Allies, who between Red Alert 1 and 2, developed lasers, cloaking devices, and weather control. Red Alert 1 might play it straight, but essentially every game from 2 onwards might just count as a subversion.
* {{Steampunk}}: The Soviets in ''Red Alert'', especially ''2'' and ''3''. More specifically, Tesla Punk, since they don't use steam power, though they certainly do use the steampunk style.
* SpiderTank:
** The "Sickle," the standard anti-infantry vehicle for the Soviets, and also the electricity-spewing amphibious Stingray. Though, weirdly enough, it must be built at naval docks. Apparently land-mode "movers" are just a bonus.
** The Reaper is a failed prototype of the Sickle that was hastily put into mass-production.
** ''[[CommandandConquer Red Alert 2]]'' has the Terror Drone, which is a small machine that kills infantry in one hit, and takes down tanks in seconds. And is very bloody fast. It returns in [=RA3=]. But now it ''swims''.
* SuperPrototype: The Reapers from ''Uprising'' are a heavier prototype of the Sickle. So heavy, in fact, that their [[RealityEnsues legs break beneath]] them if they jump.
* SuperSoldier:
** The Desolators of ''Red Alert 2'' and ''3: Uprising'', bonus points since they are uncrushable, in ''Red Alert 2'' they are heavy armoured elite soldiers armed with radioactive cannons which meltdown infantry and light vehicles with ease, their secondary is the ability to contaminate an entire area with nucler radiation powerful enough to keep killing units even after the desolators have moved out, in Uprising they are portrayed as [[EqualOpportunityEvil terminal ill]] [[SociopathicSoldier sadists]] in [[WetwareCPU life support armored suits]] capable to [[MadeOfIron withstand insane amounts of damage and pain]], they use as weapons sprayers [[Narm/VideoGames which look like gas dispensers]], that release vile jets of chemical waste capable to [[NightmareFuel meltdown any kind of infantry, including the female heroes]], in the most horrific way, their secondary attack launches an corrosive core which slowdown units and make vehicles and structures highly vulnerable to their primary weapons, [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential sounds cool eh?]]
** The expansions to ''Red Alert'' featured Volkov, a 1950s Soviet Cyborg and his dog, Chitzkoi. Volkov had enough firepower and durability to take on a ''battleship'' (this being one of his missions!).
* TakeOverTheWorld: Their want this in all three games.
* TankGoodness: The most tank-heavy army in the series.
** Mammoth Tanks it's a Soviet tank from Great World War II (''Red Alert 1'', taking place between 1946~1953). In ''Red Alert 2'' onward, this became the Apocalypse tank, and by ''Red Alert 3'', the tank traded its Mammoth Tusk missiles for a [[YouWillNotEvadeMe magnetic harpoon and armor-eating grinder]].
** Their also have had a Tesla Tank in each of the three major wars (not necessarily in every ''game'', though). Much like their base defenses, they're all about ShockAndAwe.
* UselessUsefulSpell In ''Red Alert'', Iron Curtain is somewhat useless, as it can only make a single tank or building invincible for a short period of time. Also corrected in Red Alert 2, the Iron Curtain then has the ability to protect up to 9 tanks, flak tracks, or terror drones.
** The Iron Curtain can protect a valuable building that is in imminent danger of being destroyed, such as a Construction Yard, which can buy you time to kill off the invading force or repair it. Another (more fun) strategy is to send a M.A.D. tank towards an enemy base or attack force, and just as it reaches firing range, use the Iron Curtain to keep it from being prematurely destroyed since it's too slow to reach a target on its own armor. Place it in the prime center of devastation and deploy it - if it's still under the Curtain, it won't actually explode and damage everything until right after the effect fades, giving the enemy no chance to actually counter it.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Stalin in ''Red Alert'' and his cronies try to pass themselves off as well-intentioned, particularly in his cronies' [[TheStarscream Starscream-esque]] moments (as they did in RealLife). Likewise to Premier Cherdenko
* ZeppelinsFromAnotherWorld: Their mighty Kirov, the slow-moving but devastating bomber zeppelin of the Soviets. As those weren't scary enough, they now come with NitroBoost in Red Alert 3.

[[folder: The Allied Forces]]
[[quoteright:302:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Allied_logo_4619.jpg]]

The Allies, otherwise known as the Allied Forces, are a military alliance between the nations of Europe (mainly England, Germany, United States, France, Greece, Spain, Korea and Turkey). The Allied Military Doctrine is centered on decisive action, mobility, subterfuge, aerial dominance and technological superiority. The Allied forces are exceptionally well-trained, guided by superior intelligence and has at their disposal some of the world's most advanced weaponry.

----

* AmericaSavesTheDay: ''Brutally'' averted. All Allied nations receive fair representation, with a disproportionately large number of units and characters actually being British.
** Also averted in ''RedAlert 2''; the Soviet Union, bearing a grudge against the United States, unleashes a full-out assault on the country. The President is quick to seek the help of America's allies in fighting off the Soviets (to which General Carville does ''not'' take kindly: "It just ain't right! We shouldn't have to beg for help from anyone!").
*** The ExpansionPack, ''Yuri's Revenge,'' also has campaign missions that showcase each of the special units given to each country in multplayer mode.
** Averted in ''RedAlert'' 3; the American president is an incompetent Bush parody [[spoiler:who you later have to kill to prevent a world war. Or is a robot spy for the Rising Sun.]].
*** The national diversity among Allied units is highlighted more in ''RedAlert 3'' than it was in the previous two games; ''each'' of your units come from around the world (including Hydrofoils coming from the Dominican Republic), your orders usually come from a British field marshal and a British intelligence officer and occasionally The Allied co-commanders are also from around the world. Giles is British, Lisette is French (despite lacking any accent), Warren is American (and played by Randy Couture). And the American Vice President is [[spoiler: David Hasselhoff]].
* AwesomePersonnelCarrier: The Battle Fortress and IFV are awesome in their own way. The IFV can change armaments depending on the troop type it is carrying; the Battle Fortress can crush other vehicles!
** Honourable mention to Red Alert 1's Phase Transport. It shows up in a single mission in the ''Aftermath'' expansion, and it can only carry one infantry unit... but on the other hand, the machine gun is replaced with high-powered ''missile launchers'', and it cloaks.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Their Mobile Gap Generator -- the stationary building version is useful enough, but the mobile ones' range is so contracted that they're practically worthless.
* {{Badass}}: The Hollywood actors that help the Allied commander during the Hollywood mission in ''Yuri's Revenge'' are fairly badass in their own right.
* BadAssBystander: Generic civilians in other RA2 missions will sometimes open fire on enemy troops (yours or the opposition, depending). They don't do very much damage. This is slightly more prevalent in Yuri's Revenge, if any mind-controlled civilians happen to be standing around Yuri's structures when the player disables the psychic dominators on the map.
** Present, in typical [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome awesome fashion]] in the second Allied mission in ''Yuri's Revenge'', where you defend Hollywood, and [[CaptainErsatz find a few curiously familiar names,]] such as [[ClintEastwood Flint Westwood,]] [[Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger Arnnie Frankenfurter ,]] and [[SylvesterStallone Sammy Stallion]]. 'Flint' [[QuickDraw can insta-kill]] [[ImprobableAimingSkills infantry with his revolver,]] 'Arnnie' [[MoreDakka totes a minigun]] and is NighInvulnerable, and 'Sammy' [[MST3kMantra somehow managed]] to put a GrenadeLauncher attachment on [[CoolGun his M-60]] that can blow up any structure instantly. As such, Flint can annihilate waves of infantry, Arnnie just [[ShootingSuperman laughs when]] [[TankGoodness anything up to a tank shoots him,]] and Sammy [[PersonOfMassDestruction can demolish entire bases in a few seconds]], if you can keep them away from [[TacticalRockPaperScissors their horrendous weakness to various things.]]
* BondOneLiner: Ironically, the Spy, who is a ShoutOut to JamesBond ''himself'', doesn't use them except in ''Red Alert 3'' when bribing enemy units
--> ''"Come on, fight for the winning team!"''.
* CivilWarcraft: Surprisingly (at least to the players), the Allies also got one against [[spoiler: President Ackerman]] in Red Alert 3.
* ColorCodedArmies: The Allies are blue
* CoolBoat: The Allied [[{{BFG}} Cruiser]] deserves special mention. And the boats get progressively more CrazyAwesome as time goes on. The Helicarrier of Red Alert 1 ''would'' be here, but for some reason it's just set to [[DummiedOut be available at tech level -1, thus preventing its construction,]] though the player is only [[GameMod one variable]] away from being able to use them.
* CreatorProvincialism: Strongly averted in the first game, where nearly all the Allied cast are Europeans--it's not clear whether the USA is even in the war, as opposed to sending volunteers--and the three Allied sub-factions for skirmish missions are Britain, France and Germany. In later games, the Allies are still a broad mix of volunteers from various nations; their units have a wide variety of accents.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Several country-unique units in ''Red Alert 2'', such as the Sniper and Tank Destroyer, the latter being most infamous in that it literally ''is only good against tanks''. Even against buildings, which you'd expect them to be competent against (given that all other units effective against tanks usually do well against buildings too), they will only do chicken scratches to.
** Lampshaded as of ''Red Alert 3'' with the background information on the Allied Hydrofoil unit, which has a weapon jammer device. The background states that Allied tank crewmen and fighter pilots asked why their units could not also be equipped with jammers, but engineers the world over have encountered unspecified technical difficulties designing vehicles with multiple weapons. ''Red Alert 3'' actually changed the whole model on this one, given that all units in that game have a special ability of some type, and for about half those units that ability is a [[DualModeUnit second weapon]]. The hydrofoil's primary is an anti-aircraft gun.
** Boris from the expansion pack of Red Alert 2 was allowed to call in an airstrike to whatever targets his AK-47 couldn't kill (namely, buildings and tanks) which made him alot more effective than Tanya, as he did not need to close the distance. Yuri Prime, however, averts this trope to hell as his psychic power was able to affect anything other than airborne targets (and only while they stay airborne).
* DeathFromAbove: One of the main strengths of the Allies is they have a large powerful air force (except for Red Alert 1).
** And then there's the Harrier from ''[[CommandAndConquer Red Alert 2]]'' who sometimes says "death from above" when ordering it to attack something.
* EnemyMine: One example is to be found in ''Red Alert 3'' during the Allied campaign when the Empire of the Rising Sun attacks-the Allies and Soviets call a ceasefire to destroy the Empire, and proceed to betray each other at about the same time.
** Happens in the ''Yuri's Revenge'' expansion to ''RedAlert 2'' as well, when the Soviets and Allies team up to fight Yuri.
* FactionCalculus: Subversive originally, but changed to Balanced with the introduction of the Empire.
* FreezeRay: The appropriately named Cryocopters and later Cryo Legionnaires in ''CommandAndConquer: {{Red Alert 3}}''. There is also superweapon version Cryoshot/Cryoblast/Cryogeddon. These are [[HarmlessFreezing mostly harmless]], but frozen objects will [[LiterallyShatteredLives shatter]] if hit with the slightest damage, and for air units (done by cryo legionnaires garrissoned in a multigunner turret/IFV) the result is not something to laugh at since they will immediately come crashing down when frozen.
* FrickinLaserBeams: Their [[DisintegratorRay Prism]] and Spectrum laser technology in ''Red Alert 2'' and ''3'' respectively.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Their Peacekeepers (basic soldiers) form Red Alert 2 look more like riot police then front-line soldiers. Their primary weapon is a ShortRangeShotgun, but they also have a metal shield that they can deploy to protect against bullets, while they slowly walk towards the target in order to unleash their weapon. It evene prevent them from getting 1-hit killed by ninjas and Tesla troopers.
* HarmlessFreezing: What Cryocopters, the Cryoshot superweapons, and Cryo Legionnaires can do.
** The Cryocopters profile in the official website lampshades this:
-->Frozen targets are effectively thrust into a state of suspended animation. The effects of the freezing gradually wear off and the target snaps out of the effect all at once, with no recollection of the passage of time, as though waking from slumber. In fact, a majority of test subjects reported feeling unusually relaxed after this fugue state. Although research findings concerning the long-term effects of the freezing are inconclusive as of yet, the cryobeam has provisionally been deemed "perfectly safe" by manufacturer [=FutureTech=] Corporation.
** LiterallyShatteredLives: Frozen units will shatter when hit with the slightest damage, making freezing lethal. Frozen air units (as from Cryo Legionnaires loaded into Multigunner IFV or turrets) will immediately come crashing down.
* HeroicDolphin: Used by the Allies in the second and third games.
* HurricaneOfPuns: In ''[=RA3=] Uprising'', everything their Cryo Legionnaire says are cold-related puns of commonly used terms and {{Bond One Liner}}s such as "It's snow time!" and "Let's kick some ice!", this said imitating Schwarzenegger's voice, who acted as Mr. Freeze in the [[Film/BatmanAndRobin Worst Batman Movie Of All Time]]. The name of the unit itself is a pun of an Allied unit from ''[=RA2=]''.
* NationalWeapon: The Allies have [[ActionGirl Tanya]] and the Chronosphere.
** A few more seem to have popped up for the Allies between 2 and 3: IFVs, [[CoolBoat Aircraft Carriers]], Mirage Tanks, and [[HeroicDolphin dolphins.]]
* PowerNullifier: Their Hydrofoil's weapon jammer prevents enemies from attacking as long as it keeps targeting them.
* RetGone: Their Chrono Legionnaire from Red Alert 2 had a gun that would ''erase people from the space-time continuum''. Weaponized Retgone anyone?
** And, oddly enough, it has absolutely no noticeable side effects on the rest of the world.
** During the time-erasing process, the target can't take damage from anything else; removing your own buildings from spacetime temporarily allows them to easily survive direct hits from ''nukes'', though your poor Legionnaires still get melted.
* RoboSpeak: Future Tank X-1
* ShapedLikeItself
--> '''Peacekeeper''': "Peacekeeper, keeping the peace."
* ShoutOut:
** The Harbinger Gunship is based on the Spectre Gunship in ''Generals'' (and real life for that matter). It is also a clear reference to the nuclear aircraft proposed during the Cold War.
** The Pacifier FAV is a reference to the Siege Tank in ''{{Starcraft}}'', made even more obvious that the title of the mission to unlock it in challenge mode is called "Ready to Roll Out", which is the Siege Tank's creation line.
** The Cryo Legionnaire in ''Uprising'' is a reference to [[Film/BatmanAndRobin Mr]] [[Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger Freeze]] ''and'' the Chrono Legionnaire unit from ''Red Alert 2''.
** The Korean Black Eagle aircraft in ''[=RA2=]'' is probably named on the real Black Eagle air force aerobatic team of South Korea. Too bad the real Black Eagle planes are painted white, though. [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Eagles_aerobatic_team]]
** ''Red Alert 2'' had a shout out to the Orca Aircraft in the Tiberium series when Eva comments on the absurdity of the Attack Dolphins.
-->Intelligence informed me that effective countermeasures involves specially-trained dolphins which are now at your disposal. What's next, killer whales?
** A [[BritishStuffiness British commander]] called [[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Giles]] [[Series/{{Angel}} Price]]
** The Proton Collider superweapon is a [[StealthPun clever crack]] at the LHC. And just in case you didn't [[ViewersAreMorons get it the first time]], the Sigma Harmonizer from ''Uprising'' is a giant particle accelerator with a similar configuration to the LHC, complete with (justified, in this case) [[HollywoodScience public concerns]] over its actual function.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Played straight with Peacekeepers, not only they are the strongest of the basic rifleman unit, they can knockdown even ninjas and commandos who gets too close, and with proper micromanagement can lock them in a CycleOfHurting.
* StrangeBedfellows: The Allies and the Soviets join forces in Yuri's Revenge to take down Yuri, and again in Red Alert 3 to deal with the Empire.
* TakeOverTheWorld: [[spoiler:Depending on how you interpret what the Vice President says in the Allied ending of Red Alert 3, maybe the Allies too]].
* TankGoodness: Have an analogue in the Mirage Tank, which uses [[DeathRay Heat Cannons]] in ''[=RA2=]'' and [[FrickinLaserBeams Prism Cannons]] in ''[=RA3=]''--but in both games, it disguises itself as nearby objects (trees in ''[=RA2=]'') and can fire even when disguised!
* TheAlliance: It's right there in the name, although they become increasingly American-centric in the second game. Things go back to normal in the third.
** Which makes a great deal of sense considering the core plot of the second is America being invaded by the Soviets.
* TimeMaster: Thanks to the Chronosphere and assorted technology.
* UselessUsefulSpell: In ''CommandAndConquer: Red Alert'', a few missions from the end the allies acquire the ability to use the Chronosphere, a teleportation device. However, in game (more powerful in CutscenePowerToTheMax), you can only teleport a single tank at once, and cannot teleport air units or [=APCs=] with people, with the given reason that the people in the [=APCs=] will die, which really doesn't make sense because the tanks have to have people in them (and a known cheat can disable it). This is largely corrected in Red Alert 2, where the Chronosphere has the power to teleport up to 9 small tanks, including vehicles with people in them, as well as some air units. In fact, you're able to teleport land units into the sea and sea units onto the land, making it somewhat of an offensive weapon too. Unshielded infantry still die in Chronoshifting.
* WaveMotionGun: Spectrum cannons used by spectrum towers and mirage tanks.

[[folder: The Empire of the Rising Sun]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-RisingSunFlag_2809.jpg]]

The Empire of the Rising Sun is the Imperial regime of Japan, led by the Emperor and the Shogunate, that seek its "divine destiny" to subjugate mankind to serve the Emperor and create a world under their rule - a world minus capitalism and communism. Influenced by nationalism, militarism and imperialism, the Empire has adopted aggressive policies, viewing the Allies and Soviets nothing more than "barbaric oppressors". The Imperial military is a unique blend of Japanese tradition and technology.The Empire maintains it's well known discipline and loyalty through the philosophy of bushido and reverence for the ancient warriors known as Samurai. The Imperial order of battle includes high tech, highly versatile transforming units, more traditional ones and a living weapon - namely a young female commando with psychic powers, Yuriko Omega.

Pretty much, the entire faction is a ShoutOut to what nerds love about Japan.

----

* ActionBomb: Yari Minisubs in ''3''
* AmazonBrigade: Rocket Angels, Archer Maidens, and [[DarkActionGirl Yuriko.]]
-->'''Rocket Angel''': Nothing a girl can't handle!
* AndIMustScream: The Steel Ronin from the expansion pack. Their details say that criminals are locked inside them as punishment, then forced to man them when necessary. No word on how they're kept alive, which is just as well.
* {{Animeland}}
* AsianAndNerdy: Imperial engineers. Just watch them do their little power strut.
* BaseOnWheels: The Empire's base building is completely based on this - each building comes as a "nanocore" vehicle and unpacks at a designated position into a building.
* BeehiveBarrier: Their [[DeflectorShield Nanoswarm]] Superweapon.
* BottomlessMagazines:
--> '''Rocket Angel''': "Unlimited ammo!"
* BreathWeapon: Their Giga Fortress uses this in air mode.
* CloningBlues: Yuriko is being cloned several times, powering the Empire's ultimate ultimate weapon with many of her doubles. In ''Uprising'' she heads out to destroy a facility which has the sole role of mass cloning her.
* CivilWarcraft: Red Alert 3: [[ExpansionPack Uprising]] will have former Crown Prince of Japan Tatsu, now cooperating with the victorious Allies, going against the Japanese generals. [[spoiler:And once you've got rid of the rogue Japanese generals, he then goes and betrays you and uses all the stuff stolen from those generals to attack you!]]
* ColorCodedArmies: The Empire of The Rising Sun (Japan) is orange (red and white were already handed out).
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: In ''3'', the [[HumongousMecha King Oni]] is shown to be {{Kaiju}}-sized in the cutscenes, although it is much smaller in game. Also, in one scene, it is shown [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome leaping up and punching a Kirov out of the sky]], but in game, King Onis have no anti-air capabilities except the [[AceCustom special ones]] piloted by [[AuthorityEqualsAsskicking Emperor Yoshiro and Kenji]].
* DoNotAdjustYourSet: The Empire did this in the Allies and Soviet campaigns.
* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: Their Imperial Warrior uniforms resembles Samurai outfits, which also carry [[LaserBlade Beam]] [[KatanasAreJustBetter Katanas]] as secondary weapons that can score a OneHitKill on enemy infantry but can't hurt vehicles.
* FakeNationality: Everyone in the Empire of the Rising Sun appears to be Chinese, save for the Emperor himself.
** Kelly Hu is of Hawaiian descent as well as Chinese, and the Empire of the Rising Sun holds Hawaii in the modified space-time continuum of Red Alert 3.
* FrickinLaserBeams: While many people believe the Empire loves them too, [[DidNotDoTheResearch this is wrong]]. The Empire uses Particle Accelerators and Superheated Slugs.
* KatanasOfTheRisingSun: Again, isn't it obvious?
* {{Kiai}}: UIIIYAAAAAAAAAH!
* HistoricalVillainDowngrade: Their are clearly modeled after [[ImperialJapan Imperialist Japan]], which in real life was infamous for its war crimes, which include pointless mass murders by the hundreds of thousands, enslavement of tens of thousands of women as sex slaves, and performing medical experiments on prisoners from their colonies that killed thousands of people. Even the whole honor aspect that's presented as a joke in the game was a scary thing in real life; they considered surrender dishonorable and would execute or use enemies who surrendered as slave labor, and fed their civilians propaganda about the Allies that drove them to commit suicide by the tens of thousands when America invaded the Japanese home islands. All of these thing are of course never brought up in the game and the Empire is simply presented as an over-the-top comedic organization, though interestingly it is brought up in an in-progress mod called ''RedAlert3Paradox'' where in the mod's version of [=RA=] 3 events, [[MoralEventHorizon the Empire butchered a major Soviet city]].
** There are hints that they're just as bad, but it's mostly left up to FridgeHorror. Certain comments made during the invasion of Vorkuta make you wonder [[InferredHolocaust what's happening to the civilians]]. And then there's the research lab in ''Uprising'', which appears to have been inspired by ''ElfenLied'' and ''Manga/{{Akira}}'', and the [[AndIMustScream Steel Ronin]]...
** Yet another possibility is that the Empire never went downhill and thus stayed in its real-life pre-fascist state, when it was generally considered to be honourable and progressive (unless you were Chinese or Korean, of course). This is fairly likely due to the apparent lack of any fascist government or policy of genocide. They're certainly [[GreyandGrayMorality no less villainous or no more heroic than the Soviets or Allies]], who both have some nasty skeletons in their respective closets.
* HumongousMecha: Has many of these.
** MiniMecha: The Tengus, which can [[TransformingMecha transform into a jet.]]
** TransformingMecha: A vast number of the Empire's units are this. Anti-ground helicopters become anti-air missile walkers, Mecha-Tengu become Jet Tengu, submarine Sea-Wings become flying Sky Wings, not to mention their basic tanks are amphibious; "flexibility" is the main focus of their gameplay.
*** ''Uprising'' has the Giga-Fortress, a naval base that transforms into a giant floating head that's about as big as a skyscraper. And apparently its sentient, judging by the way it was asking where its body is.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddMecha: Pretty much the major backbone of the Empire of the Rising Sun in. And it throws in...
* InstantAwesomeJustAddNinja: The Shinobi, who can mow down infantry, swim, and shut down enemy structures.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Rocket Angels en masse can produce this. There is even an upgrade to make missile-firing units spam even more. The Naginata cruisers fires many torpedoes at once in their special attack.
* MesACrowd: Clones of Yuriko are used to fuel to Rising Sun's superweapon, the Psionic Decimator. Also, if you are facing multiple Rising Sun commanders in a mission, expect to see a handful of Yurikos.
* PsychicPowers: Their hero unit in ''Red Alert 3'' has powerful telekinetic powers.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: The [[CoolShip Shogun Battleship]] and [[HumongousMecha King Oni]] can do this, often result in an instant kill. The smaller Yari Minisubs are also capable, but they won't survive doing so. "[[TakingYouWithMe BANZAIII!]]"
* {{Roboteching}}: As seen in ''Red Alert 3'' with the Rocket Angels used by the Japanese. Who'd have guessed it?
** For added MacrossMissileMassacre, one of the Empire passive powers that can be unlocked even allows your rocket-spewing units to spew even ''more'' rockets!
* RoboSpeak: The Nanocores.
* ShoutOut: Got a popular Anime trope? Rest assured the Empire will make use of it.
** The aforementioned school girl (a disturbed psychokinetic PersonOfMassDestruction), as well as the Empire's superweapon (the Psionic Decimator), may well be a specific ShoutOut to ''Manga/{{Akira}}''.
** There's {{Wave Motion Gun}}s, {{Salaryman}} engineer units, HumongousMecha, and {{NINJA}}!
** The King Oni resembles a cross between Ironman and a Gundam. Further driving the point home, the Emperor has the original prototype, which is red with gold accents (which are normally white, but are gold colored due to the Empire's canonical faction color). You even see him in a Ironman-like interface as he [[TemptingFate declares your imminent doom]].
* SuperPrototype: The prototype King Oni is faster, stronger, nigh indestructible and equipped with a absolutely devastating anti-aircraft rocket battery. [[spoiler:And it's piloted by Emperor Yoshiro.]]
* SuperSoldier: ''Uprising'' give the Empire Steel Ronin, who are disgraced Imperial commanders in [[WetwareCPU life support armored suits]], although these guys are armed with [[BladeOnAStick energy-bladed naginatas]] that can cleave through tanks and entire ranks of infantry.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Archer Maidens in Uprising, making an Allied soldier wish there were more ladies in the infantry division.
* TheEmpire
* WaveMotionGun: Their artillery in ''Red Alert 3''. They're even flat-out simply [[ShoutOut called]] [[SpaceBattleshipYamato Wave Motion Guns]], and their floating fortresses use tri-barreled versions.
* WeaksauceWeakness: The Empire possess no adequate anti-air capabilities (Until the expansion). Requiring them to immediately go for Mecha-Tengus or be destroyed.

Yuri was the leader of a very versatile and efficient army. Yuri and his mad scientists conducted secret researches which resulted in great scientific advances, which Yuri exploited to the full. Yuri's army relied on mind-control, cloning, advanced magnetic weapons, and laser technology, as well as speed, maneuverability and flexibility to bring him victory on the battlefield.

----

* CartoonishSupervillainy: Pretty much the entire premise of Yuri and his faction, which ups the somewhat ridiculous RA arsenal UpToEleven with the addition of genetically mutated Hulk look-a-likes, psychically powered infantry, UFOs, and so on. Then there's the expansion campaign, which features such gems as weaponized Moai statues, an Arctic/Moon base, and a gothic Transylvanian mansion headquarters. Regardless of which campaign, all of Yuri's plans end up failing spectacularly and then Yuri himself eventually being submitted to some humiliating fate.
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: The Psychic Dominators shown in the opening cutscene are able to mind control entire sections of continents. To prevent it from being an ''enormous'' GameBreaker by giving Yuri's faction the ability to instantly control every unit and structure on the map if one is activated even once, in the game it can take over 9 units at most and cause a lot of base damage.[[invoked]]
* DirtyCoward: Yuri's gattling tanks and Magnatrons: they certainly like to dish out punishment at long range but flee at the first whiff of a counterattack.
* GeneticEngineeringIsTheNewNuke: Literally; Yuri's "Genetic Mutator" superweapon instantly converts a bunch of people into massive musclemen.
* HumanResources: Bio-Reactors. They don't generate much power on their own, but "garrison" infantry in them and they become some of the best power plants in the game.
* PlayingWithFire: Yuri's Initiates are psychics who attack by burning things with their powers.
* PsychicPowers: Yuri is capable of mind control. Yuri pulls a psychic possession ''over a telephone'' at the beginning of ''Red Alert 2'' With the aid of a special building, he can mind control an entire hemisphere!
* PsychicRadar: Thanks to Yuri, you too can employ psychics to monitor your battlefield and predict the movement of enemy troops!
* SpitefulAI: Their mind control tanks take damage if it mind controls too many units. It will happily push forward and MindRape as many units as it can regardless of this until it is destroyed.
* SupervillainLair:
** In ''Yuri's Revenge'', Yuri has a secret island, a family castle in Transylvania, and even a [[SpaceBase moonbase]].
** Lampshaded with Yuri's castle when Premier Romanov makes fun of it briefly ("He is like monster from movies") before he gave the Soviet commander the order to destroy it.
* TankGoodness: Mastermind, a giant [[BrainInAJar brain in a tank]] that {{Brainwashe|d}}s ''any'' enemy organic ground units that get too close. [[ExplosiveOverclocking Which can backfire]] [[CastFromHitPoints if it controls too many.]]
* UselessUsefulSpell: The Genetic Mutator (Yuri's secondary superweapon) sounds good on paper, turning all infantry on a large area into brutes at your command, but since it's rare your enemy will ever have a large collection of infantry in one spot, the only use it can ever be is to turn your own or other players' slaves into usable soldiers, since slaves are free.
*** When you figured out the secret, the Mutator was possibly the best superweapon in the game. Use it with the grinder and Yuri has potentially infinite cash, especially useful in a long game where the ore has run out.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: Yuri's faction has the Grinder machine, which you can send your obedient soldiers (or hypnotized enemies/civilians) into to be [[{{Squick}} shredded into valuable scrap bits]].
** One Allied mission sees you trying to destroy a network of such devices Yuri's built in Los Angeles. There's no time limit on the mission, though, so you're free to watch brainwashed civilians walk into them for as long as you like while you build up your forces.

-->''"Time will tell...sooner or later, time will tell."''

Shortly after the close of World War II, Professor Einstein began working on a way to change history so the terrible conflict would not occur. He began researching time travel and in 1946 completed a machine that allowed him to travel back to 1924 where he found Adolf Hitler and eliminated him. Returning to his own time, he reflected that the true ramifications of his actions would only be seen with time. T Hose ramifications were that, rather than preventing the war, he had merely changed the sides. Soviet Russia, now without Hitler to ally with the West against, became the belligerent. Realizing he had failed in his ultimate objective he offered his services to Allied Command to help produce new technologies for the war effort.

Sometime in the mid-to-late 1920s, Stalin came to power as the leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In the years that followed he began putting in motion plans for the expansion of Soviet Communism across the world. After Einstein removes Hitler, meaning Nazi Germany is not in his way, Stalin finds that Europe is ripe for the picking and begins a campaign to claim the continent for the Soviet Union. After the Soviet Union was defeated in the Second World War, the victorious Allies installed Romanov as the premier. They were fooled, however; Romanov held a deep bitterness over Russia’s defeat that was matched by his hatred for the Allies that had wrought it. Much of Yuri's past remains unknown. He is of Romanian ancestry and inherited a castle in Transylvania from his family. During the first Soviet-Allied war, he took part in Stalin's secret project, whose aim was to create an army of psychically-gifted soldiers to guarantee victory. However, the war ended with the Soviet Union's defeat and Stalin's death, although this likely did not stop Yuri, who single handedly continued it. It is possible that his implant is the original World War II model initially created by Soviet scientists. Following the war, Yuri joined Premier Romanov, whom he helped in rearming the USSR, developing psychic technology and forming the backbone of the Psychic Corps. Though he is one of Romanov’s top advisors, there are indications he is influencing things more than he should be.

She is a former officer of the French Intelligence. As such she often has unorthodox methods that are almost always successful. She is attractive and has a playful demeanour, which leads adversaries to underestimate her. The beautiful Lissette Hanley is funny, flirtatious and sly as a fox. When the opportunity presented himself, he accepted a desk job (one of the reasons was the amount of shiny chevrons ending up on his lapel) and a command post at [[ContinuityNod Von Esling]] Airforce Base in Iceland. Considered one of the most intelligent minds of the Soviet Union, Zelinsky created the USSR's Temporal Displacement Device in a year-long secret project. He was code named Z and was assistant to Dr. Nikola Tesla. It was Tesla who gave Dr. Zelinsky the secret of time travel, and was warned by Tesla about the consequences of time stream alterations.

Being forewarned, he protested when his superior Colonel Cherdenko wanted to use the time machine, warning him that they have no idea what the effects of changing the time line would be. He was forced to accompany Cherdenko and General Krukov on a trip into the past to eliminate Albert Einstein, and he tried in vain to stop Cherdenko from assassinating the famed scientist. Upon their return to the altered present, they discovered that Zelinsky's fears were well founded, as the previously unknown Empire of the Rising Sun had just launched a massive invasion on the Soviet Union.

A hotheaded and ruthless figure, Tatsu often clashes with his more stoic and conservative father, believing that victory against the Empire's enemies will not come from intimidating them into submission, but on the battlefield. Tatsu also places greater faith in the Empire's technology than his father does, and believes that destiny is not a blueprint to follow, but rather something that can be made through bold actions and force of will. Still, despite their disputes, Tatsu remains very loyal and dedicated to his father, and defers to his judgment in times of crisis.
