* AudienceSurrogate: Sometimes things had to explained to him, as well as the audience. Understandable, as among the main human cast, Tom is a newbie in Chaotic.

* InstantExpert: Downplayed, but Tom's a quick learner when it comes to Chaotic. In fact, within a few days under Kaz's teachings, he became a very notable Underworld player.
* NiceGuy: Tom's heroic, friendly, and cheerful.

* FrediuanSlip: He gives off a slightly sexist comment at one point in "Battledrome of the Sexes". That said, Tom learns his lesson soon enough, to the extent of using a female creature in his Codemaster match against Codemaster Crellan.

* KnowsWhenToFoldThem: Possibly, at least to an extent. During most of season 1, Klay tried to directly antagonize Tom and Kaz on several occasions. This has become more indirect by season 2 though, probably because he lost to them in every Chaotic match.

* IntergenerationalFriendship: He considers Kaz a friend, though he'll likely bite his own tongue off before admitting it. In fact, when preparing for the invasion of Kiru City, Chaor takes the opportunity to show Kaz his elite soldiers and newest battlegear, kind of like a dad for "bring your kid to school" day.

* PetTheDog: Despite the tribal alliance's dissolution after the M'arrillian Invasion, he at least somewhat toned down his dislike of the other tribes, even personally attending Tangath Toborn's funeral.

* WarHawk: He's shown fighting with the Overworlders on at least two occasions. That being said, he's still more willing to fight alongside them against the M'arrillians than some.

* NiceGuy: Tiaane believes strongly in offering hospitality to those who need it, and harbors no hard feelings against Tom for his [[FantasticRacism mistrust of Mipedians in general]]. He even lets Tom scan him with no strings attached, other than to let Tom see things from his perspective.

* InsectQueen: The Queen of the insectoid Danians, who is equivalent to human royalty and acts like an elderly matriarch.

The main protagonist. He is subsequently shocked and overwhelmed by his first transport to Chaotic. Tom is a bold risk taker and will help anyone who asks, he goes far to help the Creatures of Perim. Tom is honest, truthful and trustworthy and cares deeply for his friends.

* BadassNormal: Despite being an average teenaged human, Tom is able to use bravery and his wits to help creatures. As for specific examples:

* GuileHero: Not at first, but he's learned to outsmart creatures and fellow Chaotic players using cunning and trickery when brute force simply wont cut it.
* HeroicWillpower: When in the Battledrome, he has managed to tap into creature memories, fight off effects of the Phobia Mask with merely a little bit of thinking, and can easily overcome mental tricks his adversaries play on him.
* InnocentBlueEyes: He has blue eyes, showing his naïve side, and he is the main protagonist.

The ruler of the Overworld tribe, known in the card game as an Overworld Hero. He is known for his courage. He is the archenemy of Chaor. He is friends with Tom due to Tom's love of Overworlders and the particular way in which the human idolizes him, going so far as to trust him with some missions. \\

* CharacterDevelopment: Maxxor was very short-tempered when he first met Tom, but he grows to trust him, and by extension all chaotic players over time.

* HotBlooded: It caused him to be a huge jerk towards Tom and Kaz in their first encounter. That said, Maxxor tones it down somewhat over time.

* TookALevelinKindness: He was actually pretty harsh towards Tom at first, outright accusing him when Maxxor's powers were stolen by Van Bloot. This has changed over time, with Najarin not only coming to trust Tom with his scan, but referring to him and the gang as his friends.

* TheAce: He's one of Perim's best warriors and is a reasonable individual. In fact, Tangath's HeroicSacrifice was so grand that it actually causes all four tribes to honor him as a hero.

* IntergenerationalFriendship: He considers Kaz a friend, though he'll likely bite his own tongue off before admitting it.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite his GeneralRipper tendencies, Odu-Bathax at least has no problems working alongside Tangath Toborn to fight the M'arrillians.

* RedOniBlueOni: He was the blue one to Maxxor's red during their youths. He would play the role of blue oni again when paired with the hot headed Odu-Bathax.

* OneWingedAngel: While his usual guise is fairly standard as far as M'arrillians go, Aa'une's true form is a monstrous aquatic ''thing'' that dwarfs nearly every Creature in Perim with the power to match. [[spoiler:The only one that can fight him on even footing is Iparu [[VoluntaryShapeshifting by virtue of turning into Aa'une.]]]]

* CannotKeepASecret: He talks loudly about how Chaotic is real on Earth, which makes him widely known as a weirdo, and is responsible for everybody finding out about Dranakis Threshold by refusing to not play too many ancient cards at once.

* UngratefulBitch: In the episode "Trading Cards" she puts the guys through a long and complex series of trades, scan quests, and battles so they can all obtain the necessary scans required to make various trades so she can get a scan of the Song of Mandiblor mugic. At the end of the episode, when the guys have acquired everything they need to make the trades, Sarah shows up and says [[ShaggyDogStory she doesn't need them anymore]] since Wamma caught the thief that stole the mugic and she ported to Perim and scanned it there, without even thanking the guys for their efforts. The three are left bitter at being used by her and their efforts being rendered AllForNothing and all agree they hope Sarah loses her next match.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: When he's in Drome battles he's one of the best players in the series, he's almost never had an on screen loss. [[spoiler: Ironically one of the few times he does lose is when he versus [=Lu2=] in "An East Win" although he did lose most of his creatures on purpose, [=Lu2=] did win the last match legitimately.]]
* DitzyGenius: He's a master at the game, but ditzy about everything else.

* {{Flanderization}}: He started as a CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass whose silliness masks a surprising amount of good sense, especially when it comes to the game, but late in season 2 he TookALevelInDumbass and his silliness took over.
* InvincibleHero: Peyton almost never loses, and in "Allmageddon" he is the one who pulls DefeatingTheUndefeatable. Among the few times he's lost include mentioning a defeat in Code Master Match, [[spoiler: and a match was trying to lose against [=Lu2=], though she did legimately win the last match.]]

* NiceGuy: Aside from when he's dealing with Krystella and Klay (who generally have it coming), Peyton doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Even when Tom explodes on him after their first match for [[ArrogantKungFuGuy seemingly bragging about his skills]], Peyton doesn't take it personally and explains that he was just telling Tom a few of his tricks in the drome, capping it off by telling Tom that "as a player, you rock!"

* RedIsHeroic: He is one of the greatest heroes of the [=OverWorld=], and in particular is one of the {{Big Good}}s in the M'arrillian invasion, and usually dresses in red. While he's not without his flaws, he's overall a rather noble character.

* TookALevelInKindness: Maxxor initially had quite a fierce temper and did not trust humans, believing that they saw Perim as merely part of a game, but after seeing Tom go through with his plan to get the map to the Cothica, and especially after Tom risked his own life to get his powers back, Maxxor clearly trusts the main quartet on instinct, and while not above calling them out if they do something foolish or reckless, he evidently sees them as friends.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Not ''nearly'' as hot-headed as Maxxor and Intress.

* FieryRedhead: She's got a real short fuse, when it comes to protecting those she cares about.

* WolfMan: He has the appearance of a canine humanoid.

Takinom is one of the Underworld's best female fighters. She is second only to Chaor in her fierce, fanatic dedication to the protection of the Underworld.

A gremlin-like Underworlder who assists Kaz on scan-quests. His most notable features are his big ears and his taste for gross and disgusting food, like Dractyl's old dead scales.

* Wamma, Hive Ordinance also has a Mugic Ability of 0 and the Fire elemental Type. He gains a Mugic Counter every time a Mandiblor comes into play from the discard pile and makes it so infected creatures don't reveal their Battlegear at the beginning of combat.

A lazy Danian Mandiblor that assists Sarah in navigating the inner workings of Mount Pillar.

* Tangath Toborn, Overworld General has a Mugic Ability of 0, Fire and Water elemental types and has the ability Defender as well as various abilities on your Opponent's turn depending on what non-Overworld Creature you control.[[note]]Fire 5 if you control an Underworlder, Disarm if you control a Mipedian and Elementproof all Elemental Types 5 if you control a Danian[[/note]]
