* HeartDrive: The devil they make a contract with becomes embedded in their body, which is also the part any severed limbs reform around or regenerate from. A small piece sticks out and is used to activate their transformation. Pochita became Denji's heart. The other locations are unspecified, though Bomb and Crossbow both regenerate from a head, implying that's their location. Curiously, Katana states (with some uncertainty) that his heart is a core like Denji's, but his trigger is removing his hand and he recovered from an attack that should have sliced his heart in half.

* SuperStrength: Even excluding their weapons, hybrids are supernaturally strong in Devil form. Denji is able to throw a car and physically overpower [[{{Kaiju}} the Cockroach Devil]], Bomb Girl can block a kick with enough force behind it to crush solid concrete, and Spear Man can (with help from [[TheDreaded the Control Devil]]) throw his spears with enough force to launch [[spoiler: Pochita's true form]] into ''space''. Crossbow Woman displays similar levels of strength even in human form, [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower but that doesn't seem to involve any devil power]].

Nothing implied Quanxi was incapable of using ranged weapons in her normal form. "Can't fight up close and personal anymore?" The FIRST thing she attacked where a bunch of dolls at point-blank range.

* FightsLikeANormal: Quanxi uses her devil form far less than the other Weapons Humans, even specializing in melee combat despite turning into a giant range weapon. She's not worse off for doing so, as she's so uniquely superhuman even in human form that she [[spoiler:easily defeats Miri ''after'' he transforms into Sword Man]].

* MultiformBalance: In her human form she is a proficient melee fighter and extremely skilled in both hand-to-hand and bladed combat. However, missing an eye likely messes with her depth perception, thus meaning she can't use any ranged weaponry. That being said, when she switches into her Hybrid form, she excels at ranged combat but can't fight up close and personal anymore due to her hands morphing into crossbows.

* MonsterProgenitor: Santa Claus refers to Quanxi as "the first Hunter", possibly making her the first human to merge with a Devil.

* NoNameGiven: In spite of having a personal connection to Denji, his name is not revealed. Kishibe once calls him "Samurai Sword", which is used in all official sources, but fans tend to call him "Katana Man" in keeping with Chainsaw Man's SomethingPerson naming convention and the naming convention of the other hybrids in Part 2. [[spoiler:He is referred to as "Katana" by Public Safety when he returns in Part 2, implicitly confirming that "Katana Man" exists for him as an in-universe name.]]

* MultiformBalance: In her human form she is a proficient melee fighter and extremely skilled in both hand-to-hand and bladed combat. However, missing eye likely messes with her depth perception, thus meaning she can't use any ranged weaponry. That being said, when she switches into her Hybrid form, she excels at ranged combat but can't fight up close and personal anymore due to her hands morphing into crossbows.

Being a darker and edgier version of the trope doesn't make it a deconstruction

* NinetiesAntiHero: He clearly ''[[WrongGenreSavvy thinks]]'' he's one, but he's actually a DeconstructiveParody. He has the [[BadassLongcoat attire]], the [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge motivation]], the [[SkullForAHead sinister appearance]], and the [[KatanasAreJustBetter weaponry]], but he's presented as not only an outright villain, but a unlikeable, moronic loser with no redeeming qualities.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Deconstructed. His entire beef with Denji is due to Denji killing his grandfather. However his love for his grandpa blinds him to the fact his grandfather was a murderous gangster who exploited an orphaned child for years, and even sold a number of that child's organs. To say nothing of the fact the Zombie Devil had already killed the man, with Denji simply chopping up his zombified corpse. This further leads Katana Man to flimsily justify his crimes, understate the severity of them, and generally just become even more evil out of "love".

* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: If Katana Man is a deconstruction of the NinetiesAntiHero, then Sawatari can be read as a play on the MysteriousWaif character that shows up in the stories where someone like Katana Man is the main "hero", a character who regularly sticks around as the deuteragonist, provides support to the protagonist via advice on their powers or even be the reason why they have the powers to begin with (as implied with Sawatari possibly being responsible for Katana Man merging with the Katana Devil). However [[spoiler:Sawatari is implied to actually be under orders from Makima to manipulate Katana Man into a FalseFlagOperation to purge Division 4 of its members, making the premise of a FriendlyNeighborhoodGangster gaining superpowers from a mysterious aloof girl to get revenge for his "kindly" grandfather all just a means to an end rather than the beginning of an epic action manga]]. This in turn makes her something of a {{Foil}} to Makima, who plays this role (mostly) straight for the story of ''Chainsaw Man''.
