->''"Peace means an end to evolution for humans, that's exactly what you all are. Species without evolution are eventually destroyed."''

The self-proclaimed Seven Ninja Swordsmen man Shin is working for, who Shin refers to as his "father". He was a former test subject of Orochimaru. After developing a fixation on the Mist were formed by Shizuma Hoshigaki, Uchiha clan, more specifically Itachi, he took the group's main objective was to start a coup d'état in Kirigakure to overthrow the Sixth Mizukage Uchiha name for himself and replace him severed ties with Kagura Karatachi, as well as return Orochimaru, taking his "sons" with him. Believing that peace was detrimental to human evolution, Shin began a plot to revive the village to Akatsuki so that the era of the "Bloody Mist". Ultimately, the rogue group was defeated and their rebellion stopped before it could actually begin, being written off as "just ensuing conflict would be a scuffle among kids". * ArcVillain: As the group that Shizuma is leading, they also count as the villains of the Field Trip Arc.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Like their predecessors, each of their names is derived from a type of produce.
* JapaneseDelinquents: They aren't too far removed from a band of incredibly powerful delinquents.
* SmugSnake: Pretty cocky bunch despite just being a group of kids with ridiculous goals.
* SuperWeaponAverageJoe: As for as skills go, the majority of them range from unremarkable to average and only put as much of a fight as they did was thanks to the unique properties of the swords they used. And even then they weren't that difficult to beat.

* AnArmAndALeg: His right arm became Danzo's right arm.
%%* AntiVillain
* BigBadWannabe: Despite all his tough talks, he accomplished none of his goals, didn't win any battles, and
was thanks ultimately killed off by his own clone sons.
* BlackCloak: He wears a hooded black cloak over an Akatsuki robe.
* CloningBlues: He himself is the original with a special DNA structure that Orochimaru picked up for his experiments and Shin and the others are clones of him.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Though many of the Akatsuki whom he is looking to succeed couldn't be contrasted to him, Shin seems to be a clear contrast to Nagato and Obito if his objective is to cause war rather than prevent it.
* DeathByIrony: After spending the entire miniseries telling everyone that [[SocialDarwinism true evolution can only be achieved by sacrificing the weak]] and [[AbusiveParents that children are no better than spare parts]], Shin gets killed when his own clones turn against him since his own weakening body and Sharingan make him obsolete as their father.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: He has Sharingan eyes all over his body.
* {{Fanboy}}:
** He's one
to the unique properties Akatsuki, wearing a black coat with the red cloud emblem under his cloak and seeking to create his own iteration of the swords they used. And group.
** He's also an Itachi fanboy according to Orochimaru, who noted that Shin's fascination bordered on obsession.
* FlyingWeapon: Like his son, his Mangekyo Sharingan grants remote control over any weapon he's marked. He uses this trick to stab Naruto by marking Sasuke's sword, catching them both off-guard.
* InTheHood: He wears one to hide his face and Sharingan eyes.
* {{Jerkass}}: Is a pretty massive dick to everyone, has no problem letting his clones (who are essentially his own children) die in order to save himself, and has said clones' organs harvested when he needs to stave off death. [[AssholeVictim As such, most people didn't particularly mourn him when the Shin Jr's executed him]].
* KnowWhenToFoldEm:
** He calls Shin Jr. off from attacking Naruto, knowing the boy is clearly outmatched.
** Later, after getting MamaBear Moded by Sakura, he retreats without delay.
* LaserGuidedKarma: He constantly treats his clones as disposable pawns, only for the clones to betray him for being weakened and injured, rationalizing their actions with his very own SocialDarwinism.
* MagicalEye: He has Sharingan with three tomoe not just in his eye sockets, but all over his body. His left eye has a discoloured sclerae and has ''stitches'' keeping it open. He can also use the Mangekyo Sharingan, which has the same design as Shin Jr's.
* MeaningfulName: In Japanese, a number of characters are pronounced as "Shin", among them being "new" (新) or "true" (真), contributing to the initial mystery of the characters' connection to the Uchiha clan.
%%* OffingTheOffspring: Played straight, then inverted.
* OrganTheft: He personally guts Shin Jr. to get them.
* SeeingThroughAnothersEyes: Via a weird looking creature resembling Deidara's creations or the mini Ten-Tails spawn.
* SocialDarwinist: In a weird twist of this trope, he believes that peace prevents evolution from happening, and this will mean the eventual end of mankind. With that, he manages to mix Social Darwinism with WarIsGlorious all in one sentence. His effort to resurrect Akatsuki can be seen as a way to restart the "evolution".
* SlasherSmile: He flashes an unsettling grin when Sasuke challenges him, made more unsettling due to the fact that ''he has no teeth!''
* StartMyOwn: He plans to start a new Akatsuki organization. [[spoiler:Not only does he fail, it doesn't
even then they weren't that difficult get off the ground!]]
%%* TakeUpMySword
* TeleportersAndTransporters: He can use an iteration of Kamui through his left eye and pet.
%%* WalkingSpoiler
* WarIsGlorious: Implied by his SocialDarwinism philosophy. His effort
to beat.resurrect Akatsuki could be seen as him trying to restart war.
* WouldHurtAChild:
** He targets Sarada with his flying daggers the moment Naruto's Tailed Beast Mode shielding her starts fading.
** He's completely unconcerned about putting Shin Jr. in harm's way, using the boy as a shield or as [[OrganTheft an organ donor]].
** Despite being injured and betrayed by his clones, he still tries to kidnap Sarada and Chocho with his teleporting creature. Thankfully Sarada saw an end to that.

* CloningBlues: There are scores of him.
* TheDragon: He answers to a mysterious figure dressed in an Akatsuki robe and hooded black cloak who he refers to as his father.

* FlechetteStorm: His FumaShuriken can be broken into a rain of spikes to attack a group of opponents.
* FlyingWeapon: His Mangekyo Sharingan allows him to remotely control any weapon he's marked with a seal on his hand, to the point of being able to break them into shards and still control the pieces.
* GiantMook: He has a giant clone of himself.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Like Shin S., Shin Jr. believes in "the strongest survive" philosophy. Shin Jr. kills him because he was too weak to even walk.
* MagicalEye: He has two Sharingan with three tomoe, and he's able to use the Mangekyo Sharingan.
* MeaningfulName: Like their father's name. In Japanese, a number of characters are pronounced as "Shin", among them being "new" (新) or "true" (真), contributing to the initial mystery of the characters' connection to the Uchiha clan.
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Shin Sr. treated all his clone sons as expendable organ donors. They killed him for it.
* OhCrap: One of them has this reaction fighting Naruto. When he uses his Sharingan to look into Naruto's inner world and sees Kurama giving him a DeathGlare, he nearly wets himself and loses the will to fight.
* OrphanageOfLove: The clones are adopted into Konoha, with Kabuto running the orphanage.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: He wants to kill Sasuke to avenge Itachi's death and restore the Uchiha clan's honor.
* SelfMadeOrphan: He kills Shin Sr. for being too weak.
* SinisterScythe: He wields a [[EpicFlail chain]]-scythe when attacking Sasuke.
* SocialDarwinist: A firm believer in this like Shin Sr. He even kills him for being too weak to move.
* VillainTeleportation: The creature accompanying him has the same Mangekyo Sharingan design as him and can use Kamui to teleport.
* WalkingTransplant: His father freely uses him for organ donation, even if it will kill him. There's more where he came from.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Orochimaru casually says that Shin's clones are expendable beings once they've outlived their usefulness. Naruto disagrees and later makes it a point to [[spoiler:offer the kids a new home in the OrphanageOfLove Kabuto runs]], hoping that with time and proper training they will learn to fit in with others.
* WeHaveReserves: Since there are many of them, Shin Sr. doesn't mind sacrificing them for an advantage.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: He has white -- or at least light-colored -- hair, and serves as an antagonist in ''Naruto Gaiden''.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: They eventually decide that since they are newer than their "father", they are also stronger, and act accordingly.

While Mitsuki does give him pause a couple times, Sekiei is always reassured with relative ease. Come the moment of truth, and Sekiei does not take it well. Subverted slightly in that Mitsuki did actually like Sekiei, and the betrayal was no easier for him.

Likewise, their central dilemma of whether or not they truly have souls and wills of their own is also very much in this vein.

!Haze Quadruplets
[[folder:As A whole]]
A group of siblings from the Land of Haze operating in the anarchic Land of Silence, hoping to secure the stolen Hashirama Cell to safeguard their nation.
----
* BloodBrothers: They made a pact to serve the Land of Haze, who took them in when they were young, and to die in their service.
** They also promised to one another that when one of them died, the others would bury their earrings beneath the peach tree behind the orphanage where they grew up.

* OrphanageOfLove: They describe their old orphanage this way.
* RaisedByTheCommunity: Implied. They don't dwell much on the specifics, but from the sound of things, the Land of Haze collectively adopted them, hence their extreme loyalty.

* TheChessmaster: Don't be fooled: beneath that big, gluttonous veneer lies a dangerously good strategist, with ruthlessness to boot. The anime expands on this in the Hozuki Castle arc. First, he kills and eats his second-in-command, Tsukiyo, in order to weed out any traitors that are imprisoned at Hozuki while also concealing his true identity. He runs into Kokuri, a former member of his gang who could spill the beans at any moment, and attempts to kill him in Tsukiyo's form. When this fails, he makes a deal with the warden and tries to have Kokuri transferred to another prison where he would be killed by other Mujina prisoners. Team 7, who happened to be operating undercover as prisoners, help Kokuri break out with them, forcing Shojoji to kill the warden and pursue them, where he is able to once more try and kill Kokuri along with the genin. He loses the fight with the genin, but is able to drag Kokuri into the ocean below and consume him, which forced him to reveal the nature of his Corpse Clone jutsu to interrogators, but also enabled him to go back into hiding and enact his next plan: a power play to seize control of the Land of Fire through his impersonation of the Feudal Lord. That plan would have succeeded if not had Boruto not interfered.
