* ObnoxiousInLaws: He doesn't accept Romio because he is a Towan, which is very hypocritical from him since he fell in love with a Towan woman when he was a teenager.]] It even culminates in a swordfight between them because of Juliet.

* ChasteHero: His idea of how a romantic relationship works is very idealized and innocent. The few times he gets dirty thoughts of Percia, he immediately banishes them from his mind.

* {{Determinator}}: Unless there is a big change in the world he won't be able to be together with Percia without risking being expelled and possibly ending their social lives? He is still going forward full force and won't stop.

* TheFace: His greatest asset. Pretty much [[BenevolentConspiracy everyone]] who supports his and Percia's relationship does so because he convinced them it wasn't a bad idea. Usually with impassioned shonen-esque speeches and/or [[WarriorTherapist a swordfight]].

* LoveConfession: The plot starts when Inuzuka confesses his feelings for Percia. In the middle of a swordfight, no less.

* MistakenForGay: By Hasuki when she sees him giving weird looks to a boy, not knowing that the boy was a disguised Percia. This may be a MythologyGag to the {{Pilot}}, where Percia ended up catching sight of Inuzuka in a compromising position with a male student (in an attempt to stop him from seeing the two of them together).

** There is a gag in Chapter 8 where Inuzuka pretends to be a lolicon to scare some girls from the White Cat dormitory and get some time alone with Percia. Except Percia also falls for his incredibly obvious acting.

* NiceGuy: He always looks out for his friends, will go to great lengths to make Percia happy, and is a surprisingly understanding guy given the social scenario of the school.

* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Prior to his LoveConfession, he insists on being Percia's opponent every time the two factions clash. The real reason for this is because he's protecting her from the other Black Dogs.

* SecretKeeper: for Char's feelings for Percia, a secret so well-hidden that Inuzuka only discovered it literally by accident. Possibly for Sieber's obssesion with cute things as well.
* SecretRelationship: When he and Percia are together but not alone he has to act like a colossal jerk towards her so that no one will find out that they are going out.

* SuperStrength: He demonstrates this on several occasions, such as breaking a pillar by punching it, breaking off an entire statue and uprooting a tree. Later flashbacks reveal he's had this even when he was ''seven years old'' as he managed to toss a bench at Maru to stop him from harassing Percia. It might even run in the family considering what Shuna can do.

* ThemeTuneCameo: In the anime, when Char asks Romio if he took some of Percia's pictures from Char's StalkerShrine, he innocently whistles a few notes from "Love with You", the anime's theme song. He whistles those bars a few more times later.

* WouldntHitAGirl: The excuse he gives to not fight Percia seriously, before he gathered the courage to confess to her. Obviously [[SubvertedTrope it's a bluff]], he had no problems trying to hit Char when she showed up some days later.

* AlcoholInducedIdiocy: After having her heart broken, she gets drunk and challenges Percia to race her up a mountain the next morning. (She also bets her friendship with their shared crush on the outcome.) Because of the setting's unrealism and the intervention/near-death of Inuzuka, this doesn't end as badly as it could have, though it is still considered an incredibly dumb idea in-universe.him

* HopelessSuitor: Wants to have a ChildhoodFriendRomance with Inuzuka, who only has eyes for Percia.

* TroubledSympatheticBigot: She fears that Percia is just using Romio, and/or that he isn't 'a real Dog' anymore. Once she gets to know Percia better, this fear fades.

** In the first chapter/episode, Percia sends Inuzuka a letter via an arrow. By sheer bad luck the arrow hits Maru in the head, but both Inuzuka and the following chapters ignore how the guy was bleeding heavily because of it.

* CombatPragmatist: Ambushes Percia three-on-one after she finishes training and uses pepper spray when she gets distracted. In his own words, all's fair in a nation's proxy war.t

* LoveAtFirstPunch: Becomes infatuated with Percia (disguised as Julio) after she beats him with ease.

* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: Leon successfully managed to turn nearly the entire school against Romio and Juliet during the election, having them question the two's ulterior motives after their relationship was revealed. Maru would have just been yet another student betrayed by the deception...but instead, he declared himself an ally and cast his vote for Romio in spite of everything: The one person who hates both Inuzuka and Percia more than anyone else has given them his full support, opening the way for others to declare the same.]]

* WeAreStrugglingTogether: Their internal hierarchy is pretty loose; there's a royal family, but everyone else has to compete and politick with each other for power. That said, they are ''not'' happy when Aby sabotages Percia by force. Violence is for their enemies, not fellow Cats.

* TheAce: It's mentioned that she excels at both studies and sports, and she has a charming and polite personality (when she actually feels like following basic etiquette) that makes her very well-liked by the staff of the school. On top of that, she is a good fighter like Percia and Inuzuka, once taking down an adult man who tried to attack her with a single kick.

* ChildhoodFriends: With Percia, who was asked to watch over her when they were children.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Spends her debut chapters trying to separate Percia and Inuzuka. While she does give up trying to make them break up, she never misses a chance to tell Inuzuka that she does not like seeing them together.

* ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou: The reason she loves Percia above all else is because she was the first person who didn't bow down to all of her whims, being willing to put her foot down and tell Char she was wrong when even the adults didn't dare to say that.

* NotSoDifferent: Inuzuka remarks despite them being rivals and at each other's throats, he can sympathize with Char's situation being unable to confess to the one they love. In fact, if there's anything both of them can ever agree on, it's making Percia happy.

* SchoolgirlLesbians: She is secretly in love with Percia.

* BodyguardCrush: Has a crush on Percia, whom he wants to protect. Unfortunately, the guy can [[ButtMonkey barely protect himself]].

* FormerTeenRebel: Although he is still a teenager. He used to be a delinquent, and one of the reasons he loves Percia as much as he does is that she accepted him anyway.

* HopelessSuitor: It's very obvious that he has romantic feelings for Percia, but it's even more obvious that he has no chance of winning her.

* LeaderWannabe: When the second years organize themselves into a single unit in order to rescue Juliet from her father, Scott immediately tries to put himself in charge solely because he knows where the Percias live. Obviously, just about everyone rallied behind Romio instead.

** During Romio's SickEpisode, he remembers how, last time he got sick as a kid, Chiwa sang a nursery rhyme to put him to sleep. Romio would later shortly learn from Juliet that it was actually a tune from the West. [[spoiler:This foreshadows Chiwa having a West influence in her life--Turkish Percia, specifically.]]

* InTheBlood: She is as unrepentantly emotional as Romio, something Percia notes when meeting her for the first time. Not even [[spoiler:public shaming]] made her 'fire' go out.

* CutenessProximity: Most of his interactions with Percia leave him in an incoherent mess that goes squee.

** Even though they're almost always at each other's necks, Char and Romio essentially become confidants to each other, helping each other out even if it hinders them.

* SecretSecretKeeper: Bidding farewell after the Culture Festival, Juliet herself wondered if Rackdoll figured out that Juliet was seeing Romio, a Black Dog, in secret. This is never brought up until much later (when it's not a secrer anymore), although a huge hint may be the fact that she's explicitly warning her daughter of what happened the last time a Cat and Dog fell in love...and

* PostKissCatatonia: Happens to him twice, and both with Juliet of course. In their first kiss (even if it was only on the cheek), noone in-universe actually saw the deed, just that Romio was knocked out on the ground and having a nosebleed. To them it only looked like he was assaulted by an unseen attacker. The second time it was during their wedding, just after exchanging their vows. Romio was such a NervousWreck throughout the whole ceremony that he passed out ''during'' the liplock!

* MisplacedRetribution: Thanks to a little misinformation, the Black Dogs try to get revenge on Juliet thinking she was the one who pushed Romio off a second-story window. The real culprit for that is actually Scott.

* NotSoDire: Romio and Char agonize over trying to figure out what seemed to be bothering Juliet, and they assumed it was because of yet another AccidentalPervert moment Romio had in the previous chapter (a tale that was spread like wildfire by Kohitsuji). It wasn't about that at all; in fact, Romio only dug himself deeper when he tried explaining the accident, since [[ClingyJealousGirl Juliet]] never even heard about the rumor. The real reason why Juliet was down? [[spoiler:A pimple on her forehead.]] Both Char and Romio were stunned by how trivial it was.
* OlderThanTheyLook: with her short stature, all Juliet needed is a change in uniform and a wig, and she can easily pass for a middle schooler, a.k.a. Julio.

* TranquilFury: even after all the training Juliet helped Romio with during the remedial camp, he still lost to Airu. When Airu speaks badly of Romio because of the defeat and Juliet learns [[spoiler:Romio only lost because he hid a shoulder injury]], she bravely challenged Airu to a duel without losing composure.

* MeaningfulName: Most likely named after the sabertooth tiger, or saber for short.

* HairDecorations: A shiny tiara that may be some sort of crown.

** Since her introduction, she has 1) nearly gouged out Scott's eye with her heels, 2) Organized multiple racial riots, 3) drugged most of the facility members and locked them in a room 4) nearly hit Seiber in the eye with the sharp point of a pen, and promises far worse to come.

* FantasticRacism: Racial tension is common in the series, but Leon brings it to a whole new level by announcing to the entire school that she wants to start a ''genocidal'' war that will erase the West. Needless to say, even other bigots think she's a special case. This actually costs her dearly, as [[spoiler:in Chapter 88, some of the other characters vote for Romio and Juliet (and thus against her) in the prefectoral elections simply out of sheer disgust for what she has done, and eventually leads to the student body doing the same]].
* FatalFlaw: Wrath. Leon's actions are driven by the fact no one [[spoiler:did anything to stop her mother from being taken away]]. However, by fixating on only her anger, she decides the only way to solve the problem is completely destroying the West and vehemently denies they could ever get along. Not to mention letting herself get blinded by rage over what happened [[spoiler:made her overlook the actual problems that caused the event, and even Romio notes that her methods would not make her happy in the end]].
* FeelingOppressedByTheirExistence: Leon wants the White Cats ''gone''. From the island, if not the whole world. Even other bigots consider her fanatical.

** She's also one to Romio. Both are aiming toward the head prefect position for reasons involving changing their world. However, Romio is hoping to create a world where Towa and West can coexist peacefully while Leon simply wants West destroyed entirely. Also, they are motivated by love (though different types) that influenced them. But Romio's love for Juliet motivated him to becoming a better person than he was at the start and the world he wants to build is not just for his and Juliet's sake, but for others impacted by the countries' conflict. Meanwhile, Leon's love for her [[spoiler:Western]] mother causes her rage against her being taken away to twist her in wanting West destroyed for her own selfish revenge, and ultimately uses others to reach that goal.

** Leon is the poster girl for this trope as a real life example. She is ''extremely'' racist and violent declaring a desire for genocide, war, and extinction; but all students write her off as "a little weird". She's essentially a young Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin; giving all the warning signs of her future horrifying actions but no one is taking notice of what this "nobody" is becoming.

* IfICantHaveYou: Leon wants Romio because she desires his abilities and leadership to further her goal. So she displays her TranquilFury when she discovers the SecretRelationship by [[spoiler: exposing Romio & Juliet so they can be torn apart from one another]] solely because, if Romio won't love her, she won't let him be with ''anyone''. Luckily, it didn't work as planned.

* MurderTheHypotenuse: Invoked, she hasn't tried murder ''yet'', but Leon exposed [[spoiler: Romio & Juliet's relationship]] not only to bump them out of the Prefect voting, but because she wants to get rid of Juliet and have Romio for herself.
* NervesOfSteel: Calmly declares in front of the Cat faction that she wants war with them.

* PsychopathicManchild: Leon is exposed as this when Maru stands up to her. She's basically a child who's never been told "No" and reacts predictably.

* {{Yandere}}: Part of her anger at Romio and Juliet comes from the fact that she feels Juliet stole him from her.
* YouAreWhatYouHate: She is half Western, and goes to great lengths to keep that a secret.

* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:Leon finds out that Bamy was encouraged to escape her situation and work to buy a trip back to Touwa after hearing about Leon confronting her grandmother in West. The same incident that sparked Leon's genocidal hatred of West and almost led the academy into such a direction had she not been stopped.]]

* BreakHisHeartToSaveHim: He attempts a temporary example during the end of the School Festival, when he sees Juliet being undecisive whether to spend the closing ceremonies with him at a parade, or with her mother Rackdoll. Romio puts up his usual JerkassFacade in front of them so Juliet would get angry at him and she would go to Rackdoll. In the end, Romio was feeling forlorn over what he did, especially since Juliet got rightfully angry at him for it, [[spoiler:although she winds up going to the parade with Romio anyway. After [[WhatTheHellHero giving him an earful]] for his actions, of course.]]

* NeverLiveItDown: In-universe, he is considered a "war criminal" for the Black Dogs because of a fluke he made in the sports festival of the past year, during the race that decided the winner. This year, however, he finally sheds that stigma, only for his reputation to sink lower because of an even ''worse'' accident during the Mock Cavalry battle.

* AnimalEaredHeadband: Her tiara is a cross between this and a CoolCrown; it has two distinctive points resemble cat ears.

The male lead, a young man who comes from an influential family from the nation of Towa. At the beginning of the story he starts out as the leader of the 1st-year high-school students of the "Black Dog" dormitory. He's been in love with Juliet ever since they were young. After confessing and getting together with her, he makes it his mission to establish a world where he can be together with Juliet.

The female lead, and only daughter of a nobleman from the Principality of the West. Like Romio, she starts out as the leader of the 1st-year high-school students of the White Cat dormitory. Due to her gender and traditions of Western succession, she feels a need to prove herself to be as capable as boys and especially towards Romio whom she considers her rival. Her relationship with him soon changes after he confesses and they start dating. Together with Romio, Juliet aims to establish a world where she can be together with him.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Romio always sets a bar that Maru repeatedly tries to surpass. In terms of being the physical beasts in their year, general athleticism, and Julio's attention.

** Averted, He still has a strong attraction to her after confirming that she was a girl, so he is probably straight after all.

* OneeSama: For the little girl s in grade school of the "White Cat House" dormitory.

* ChildhoodFriends: She has been Inuzuka's friend since they were small.

* WhiteSheep: To his race. He fits in quite well on the surface, but he's known since childhood that he disagrees very strongly with [[FantasticRacism certain ideals]] that every other Towan holds. This is also one reason he's reluctant to confess to Juliet; even if she ''does'' accept his feelings, he's just dragged her into a scandal that could ruin both their lives. Hazuki is the only person he thinks would accept him even if she knew the truth.
