Shun Kazami lives in the province, and is a Ventus attribute player. He is also an aspiring ninja, receiving training from his grandfather. He is a loner, yet is willing to help his friends at all costs. Together with Dan Kuso, his best friend and childhood friend, he invented the gameplay for Bakugan. He had been the first ranked battler until Masquerade and his minions dominated the rankings, and because his grandfather didn't let him play, ending up in 6th place. After defeating Komba, he ends up fifth. Shun is currently in 3rd place.

* DubPersonalityChange: Out of all of the Battle Brawlers, Shun's the only one to have a somewhat major deviation from his original backstory thanks to changes to both his mother, who simply slipped into a coma in the dub rather than passing away, and his grandfather who wanted to force Shun to focus on his ninja training thus causing Shun to greatly resent him. As a result, instead of having just given up on Bakugan out of grief, his grandfather basically forced him to stop seeing his friends and Bakugan.

* IllBoy: The side effect of [[spoiler:Mag Mel MindRape and PsychicLink give him very ugly headache which causing him scream in agony and sometime almost faints out of tiring. Fortunately, he goes better after he faces Mag Mel in mental world and Sellon stole his ''switch code'' key made his link with Mag Mel permanently cut off for good.]]

* AbusiveParents: His grandfather is adamant that he will become a ninja just seconds after his mother's death, he brutally isolates Shun from his friends, and is incredibly hostile to anyone not named Shun. You can hardly blame Shun for having such a hard time trying to come back into Bakugan.

* CallingTheOldManOut: He doesn't do it verbally, but his debut episode makes it clear that he is livid with his grandfather for trying to rip him away from his friends and trying to dictate who he is.

The only main female girl in the series that never shows romantic interest in him is Paige.

For an eleven year old, Marucho is wise beyond his years. Studious, he studies the strategy of Bakugan as well as being a bit of a walking encyclopedia. Marucho is the only son of a millionaire. In the Bakugan battles, Marucho devises strategy based on in-depth data analysis but sometimes misjudges his spur-of -the-moment decisions based only on data.

He is a wealthy, generous boy who specializes in Aquos. He is the brain of the Brawlers, a real walking encyclopedia. He loves to play Bakugan and work on strategies. He use to be extremely obedient to his parents out of fear, but that changed when he joined the Brawlers, however he is still very obedient. He now has no regrets for the past, realizing that he only wanted to make his parents happy. Marucho has a butler named Kato.

As a sidekick to Dan, Marucho helps work out which Bakugan would be best to pit against one’s opponent. He worries about all of the Brawlers, but especially Dan. Marucho is a master of combination play, and uses water attributes in battle.

* BadassNormal: As far as we know, Dan is a normal human being. Yup, a normal human that when motivated enough can ''run so fast that he blitzes over water''. Not only that, he can run up a moving '''dragon''' and aim well enough to throw a spear directly into its chest. At least with Shun it's justified since he's a ninja in training, but with Dan he's supposed to be a normal kid and yet look at his feats!

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: During Season 4, [[spoiler:Mag Mel and Razenoid end up controlling Dan's mind through Drago and is a major part of the reason why Dan loses control of himself during a brawl in that Season. It gets to bad that Dan begins to endanger the safety of kids watching the battles and he leaves the Brawlers because of it, hoping to find a way to control that power.]]

* WorldsStrongestMan: Considered the best Brawler on Earth and is always Ranked # 1 on the boards. There isn't a Brawler around (other than Shun) that can match him, especially considering the frequent evolution his partner Bakugan go through. Even though he lost his title to Anubius during his match, it was mainly because Drago was busy trying to contain his power and not endanger the safety of the fans watching. If it had been a fair fight, Drago would have easily won the match.

* {{Adorkable}}: His light-hearted, naive, and innocent nature is quite adorable.

* MrSeahorse: His "evolution" basically involves him giving birth to a Bakugan who includes both Angelo and Diablo into one.

Daniel "Dan" Kuso is the main protagonist of the anime series and the boisterous and fearless leader of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers.
