Aguri heard this and told God of Death about it, wanting to look for a way to save him after having fallen in love with him. However, God of Death decided that since he was going to die anyway, he would use his new power to destroy the lab and escape. In his rampage, he failed to protect Aguri from the tentacle of an anti-matter container. He decided to teach Class 3-E because he wanted to fulfill a promise she asked for when she died.]]

* DownplayedTrope: Generally speaking, the students of class E tend to have more subtle characterization that most shounen leads, possessing a few unique traits that stand out strongly. This doesn't mean that their characters are simplistic. Like real people, they merely exhibit various tropes in a way that is weaker than normal in fiction.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: At the beginning of the series, we have 26 students and their homeroom teacher. Later on, two new teachers and two new transfer students join them. Because of this, it's really hard to focus on one of them for a period of time, and even some of the characters like Karma who gets more screentime than others don't appear frequently.

* MundaneUtility: Their assassination skills are very useful in the matsuri games.

* {{Ninja}}: Thanks to their training, they possess ninja-like stealth techniques like "Nanba" and can climb up sheer cliffs with ease.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The fate of the world rests in the hands of a classroom full of quirkly, academically inferior middle school students.

** Karma/Okuda: Okuda admits that she doesn't find Karma scary and Karma has openly stated that he is attracted to her, mostly because of her talents in making medicines, poisons and other chemical concoctions. AllThereInTheManual even claims that out of all the females in the class, Karma feels the most comfortable talking with Okuda and can let his guard down around her.

** Nagisa, Kayano and Karma are the students who get more panels/screentime and appear in promotional materials much more often than their classmates -- the three are occasionally accompanied by Sugino and Okuda. However, Nagisa and especially Kayano don't stand out that much when someone else gets the focus, and Karma disappears from time to time. The author gives every student ADayInTheLimelight, but at least one of the three will appear in a prominent way.

* ShipTease: She's implied to have feelings for Nagisa. [[spoiler: Which could be just a mask.]]

* BullyHunter: It was this hobby of his that landed him in class E when he beat up a top-ranking student in defense of a member of said class.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Karma is initially introduced as an AxCrazy lunatic, but is later revealed to have been a BullyHunter and an excellent student. What landed him in Class E wasn't his being evil, but siding with a Class E student who was being bullied.

* TrueCompanions: Despite his sometimes aloof behavior, he gets along very well with his classmates and he never harms any of them, despite being a BloodKnight. He's also a BullyHunter because he cares for his classmates.

In the volume 04 extras, her father chews her out (again) and demands she pursues a career in law, which he considers the right path for someone of her status. At that point, Kanzaki [[FlippingTheBird flips him off]], tells him that she wants to become a caretaker and that's final. All with a calm smile in her face.
