The students of Kunugigaoka Junior High School's Class 3-E are the protagonists of the story. Infamous for containing the third-year students with the lowest grades, Class 3-E was designed to give the rest of the school (students and faculty included) a target for intense discrimination and thus a motive to keep their grades up. To add insult to injury, Class 3-E's students are banned from entering the main campus; their classroom is located in a worn-out hovel on a mountaintop about a kilometer away. This isolation is the ideal place for the top-secret assassination of an alien-like teacher who is threatening to destroy the world.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaiFuchigami (Japanese), Creator/LindsaySeidel (English)

->''"I bet I could kill him. I mean, this teacher doesn't even see me as a hitman."''

The most often seen student, and the main perspective character. Fell into Class 3-E at the end of the previous year due to poor grades. Mild-mannered, cautious and relatively weak, he prefers to observe and collect data on Koro-sensei's weaknesses rather than participate in assassination attempts. [[spoiler:Despite that, or perhaps because of it, he is considered to be one of the best assassins-in-training in the class.]]

5th best marksmanship, boys' side. [[spoiler:Ranked 6th in the school for English.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Nagisa:

* TheAce: Even before he [[spoiler:trounced Takaoka]] he was the only normal human to threaten Koro-sensei to the point where he had to use his molting ability. He is also readily acknowledged as being the go-to guy for information and analysis. Most of the embarrassing information shown in the assassination video for Korosensei was his contribution.
* AintTooProudToBeg: When [[spoiler: Takaoka]] forces him to ask for forgiveness [[PoseOfSupplication on his knees]] to get [[spoiler: the antidote for his friends,]] he immediately complies.
* AmbiguousDisorder: There is ''something'' off about him.
** He isn't intimidated by having to wield a potentially deadly weapon or having to threaten someone's life, even though it's specifically pointed out that he should be. Yet he isn't generally callous or manipulative in the way a sociopath would be. He just has no compunction against killing for some reason, like you'd expect of a veteran hitman. Except he isn't one, yet. He is supposed to be intimidated by the thought of using a real knife, but not only does he show no hesitation, he is clear-minded enough to attack using the dull side of the blade.
** His interactions with Karma in the early chapters are also not quite ordinary. Most people would be rather disturbed by Karma's AxCrazy passion of killing his teacher, but Nagisa remained calm the whole time, he didn't comment on Karma's ideas and he didn't show any reaction to Karma's crazy attitude. Nagisa's facial expression was telling like neutral wondering whether Karma would succeed or not. In short, Nagisa just acted like a neutral observer.
* AnimalMotifs: [[spoiler:An enormous snake. Symbolizes his viciousness and his ability to hide in plain sight, like a snake in the grass.]]
* AnimeHair: He seems to have odd pigtails in the back of his head, but since he was never seen with his hair down--even when he's swimming--for a long time it was believed that that was its natural shape. [[spoiler:Chapter 112 reveals that they actually are pigtails.]]
* AttractiveBentGender: He only needs to put on a skirt and some HairDecs to pass off as a really convincing girl, and even catches a guy's attention like this. According to Hayami, he looks so feminine, it's unnatural. [[spoiler: Justified since his mother, who wanted a daughter, makes him look like a girl.]]
* AudienceSurrogate: For younger audiences in Japan, a character who struggles in school and suffers from lack of confidence would be extremely familiar to a lot of people. By this interpretation, that would make his ability to summon up will when needed and his various talents WishFulfillment.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Downplayed. His abilities are hardly superhuman, but he still possesses the best sensibility and instinct in the class when it comes to planning an assassination. [[spoiler: Played straight when he reveals that he has ability to analyze a person's motives by looking at their breath, expression, and line of sight. It becomes amplified after he's temporarily paralyzed by the God of Death, and he describes it as being able to see a mental image of each person's individual "wavelength of consciousness".]]
* BadassAdorable: The shortest and most androgynous of the male students. He cemented his status as one of Class 3-E's biggest badasses when he [[spoiler:destroyed Takaoka in a knife duel--with a ''real'' knife]].
* BadPowersGoodPeople: At one point, Nagisa becomes frustrated over the fact that his only redeeming talents are his terrifying assassination skills. After [[spoiler: using those same talents to save his mother from being killed by an assassin]], he resolves to find a way to use those talents to help people, one way or another.
* BareYourMidriff: The outfit he wore while [[ItMakesSenseInContext pretending to be a fish]].
* BerserkButton: Don't mess with his friends.
** Specifically, don't [[spoiler:deliberately push this button by rubbing in the fact that you're trying to brutally kill off all of his friends]]. The one {{Troll}} who managed to successfully piss Nagisa off ended up regretting it for the rest of his life.
** When [[spoiler: the God of Death knocks out Yoshida, Muramatsu and Kimura, Nagisa finally enters into his "assassin mode" when it appears that the God of Death had broken some of Kayano's ribs]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** Sure, he's a nice guy who gets along with everyone in the RagtagBunchOfMisfits that is class 3-E, and is even a vegetarian to boot. But on the other hand [[spoiler:his stealth and sheer bloodlust make elite veteran soldiers shit bricks]].
** You know that propensity to note down people's weaknesses? Well, seems he [[spoiler:isn't above using what he learns to character assassinate you for a just cause (or just a distraction), either]]. Psychological warfare when needed? Check.
* BigBrotherMentor: To little Sakura. Like Koro-sensei, he uses his knowledge of basic assassination techniques to help the girl pass a math test and avoid being intimidated by her classmates.
* {{Bishounen}}: He looks good enough to be a girl, and when dresses as a girl, the boy named Yuuji prefers ''him'' over the real girls.
* BookDumb: Relatively speaking. He did fall into class E due to poor grades, after all. But when it comes to ''applying'' the knowledge he has, he's more like a TeenGenius.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick:
** The three things he wants most are to get to know everyone in his class, to live without leaving things unfinished, and to kill his teacher.
** That's not the only time Nagisa's train of thought blithely dips into surreal and slightly disturbing territory. Read the journal entry Korosensei grades in Chapter 2. It looks like a normal journal entry, discussing Nagisa's favorite food and where his family went for dinner the night before (a sushi restaurant). He notes that his favorite food is ''takosushi'', and that Korosensei looks like an octopus (Korosensei agrees). Nagisa's journal entry abruptly ends with him wondering what Korosensei tastes like.
* ChekhovsGun: Those hairbands Nagisa always wears around his wrists. He's almost never seen without them, and when he isn't it's usually a drawing error. [[spoiler:He has them just in case something happens to the ones he wears in his hair, because he's embarrassed by how long it is, but his mother doesn't allowed to cut it.]]
* ChekhovsSkill: [[spoiler: The "sure kill technique" he learned from Lovro]] is left unmentioned and unexplained for several chapters until he uses it on [[spoiler: Takaoka in their second duel]].
* ChildProdigy: [[spoiler:In assassination]].
* ClassicalAntiHero: Though he's more than willing to assassinate Koro-sensei, Nagisa is the shortest guy in the class, physically weak compared to the rest of the students, and has a few confidence issues thanks to being dropped into Class 3-E (as well as [[spoiler: some major parental issues at home]]). Didn't stop him from standing out as one of the class' best assassins.
* CutlassBetweenTheTeeth: Nagisa holds a combat knife with his mouth so he can limber up before he fights [[spoiler:Takaoka]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Blue hair and eyes.
* DeathGlare: Nagisa sends one to [[spoiler:Takaoka]] when the conditions for his assassination method are finally met. He is smiling, but that only makes it even ''more'' chilling.
* DissonantSerenity: Walking up to Koro-sensei with a grenade around his neck and knowing full well he could get seriously injured or even die with nary a change in his usual expression? Check. Taking down [[spoiler:an elite veteran soldier by casually walking up to him in a way he himself describes as ''as if I were walking to school'' and slashing at his neck?]] Check. This is considered to be his greatest talent: [[spoiler: the ability to completely hide his (considerable) killing intent, making him the most assassin-like of all the students]].
* DudeLooksLikeALady: He has GirlishPigtails and a slim, feminine-looking body (minus boobs).
** Lampshaded in chapter 43, which also definitively confirms his gender--he wears a male swim suit, and several female students note how up until that point it had been hard to tell. To the point of only needing to wear girl's clothes and a bit of hair accessory to pass of as girl in chapter 66, [[AttractiveBentGender and to charm another boy accidentally.]]
** It's later revealed that [[spoiler: this is partly his mother's fault. She never wanted a son, so she forces Nagisa to look like a girl.]]
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: When a disguise makes them think he's a girl, that is. And possibly even when they know he's not.
* ExpressiveHair: Subtly. His pigtails droop when he's feeling particularly down. They lift up and become wing-like when he's surprised or [[spoiler:his killing intent is switched on.]]
* FirstNameBasis: Everyone calls him by his given name. Really everyone. This is a bit odd in a LastNameBasis.
* FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator: While Koro-sensei is the central character, Nagisa provides most of the narration, usually in the form of explaining the thoughts of the whole class.
* GenderBlenderName: Nagisa is a name which is often given to girls, but boys have this name, too. [[spoiler: Makes sense since his mother wanted a daughter.]]
* GirlishPigtails: Seriously, look at his hair. You can't deny that those are pigtails, and he looks very girly with them.
** The reason he wears his hair in pigtails is because [[spoiler: his mother won't allow him to get it cut]], so it has grown to shoulder length. Presumably, the school has a rule about hair length for males, but he's also very embarrassed by how it looks when let down.
** It's later revealed he used to have a ponytail, but Kayano suggested that he wear his hair in pigtails instead [[spoiler:because she wanted him to stand out enough so she could blend in with the "background characters"]].
* GroinAttack: He gets a verbal one. After he changes back from the girl outfit to his normal clothes, Karma suggests he should get rid of "it". Needless to say, Nagisa is not amused and wants to keep "it".
* HiddenDepths: Nagisa is heavily implied to be more than just the main perspective character, as evidenced by his training with Karasuma in chapter 38. Karasuma has the kids attempt to attack him with their Anti-Sensei knives, which are harmless to humans. Suddenly, a monstrous snake attacks Karasuma. This is later revealed to be some sort of hallucination he had, and it was actually Nagisa. [[spoiler: Later, when Takaoka challenges the class to fight him with ''real knives'' (believing that, like his other recruits, they'll choke because they've never used a real weapon), Karasuma gives the knife to Nagisa.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: He's at least competent at everything he does, but you wouldn't think so by how low his opinion of himself is [[spoiler: unless his killing intent is switched on]].
* IllKillYou: Nagisa asserts this to [[spoiler:Takaoka after he destroys the antidote needed to save his classmates]]. His classmates are perfectly willing to believe he'd actually go through with it.
* KillingIntent: He can make middle school bullies and [[spoiler: two of the government's most elite soldiers]] lose their composure and tremble in fear through killing intent alone.
** Powerful instances of this are symbolized by [[spoiler: a gigantic snake, as Karasuma and Takaoka find out first-hand]]. His ability to freeze people with his killing intent alone has been compared to [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Orochimaru's]], despite the fact that this is not a series about superpowered {{Ninja}}.
** [[spoiler: Although Nagisa is shown to have a bloodthirsty side, it is actually revealed in Chapter 128 that some of his bloodlust is actually Kayano's and that she used him to conceal herself and her bloodlust until the time was right for her to assassinate Koro-sensei]]
* LauncherOfAThousandShips: InUniverse example. The official guidebook shows what pairings the class play ShipperOnDeck to. At least 75% have him in it.
* LetsGetDangerous: He's known to everyone as a kind, meek student without any noteworthy physical abilities, though a few characters catch glimpses of his potential as an assassin.
** When Karasuma chooses him to [[spoiler: fight Takaoka in a duel, most characters couldn't comprehend why...until Nagisa flawlessly takes Takaoka down using his wits and killing intent, even though the match was rigged against him]].
** When he's normal, he's so normal that Karma thought he was so un-scary that it was scary, because Karma had just seen how dangerous he could be but couldn't detect anything about him that gave that away. And when he's not normal, even when facing a vastly stronger opponent his classmates seem to be more afraid ''of'' him than ''for'' him.
* TheLoad: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by himself, as he points out that accompanying his female classmates while being dressed up as a girl was completely pointless in the end. Though, Karma thinks [[RuleOfFunny it would be obviously funny]].
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He has long hair, which only contributes to his girly looks. [[spoiler: Turns out his mother doesn't allow him to cut his hair because she wants him to look like a girl.]]
* MarshmallowHell: Irina tries to extract information on Koro-sensei's weaknesses by smothering him with her breasts. A couple non-Class-E students find themselves incredibly jealous of him.
* NiceGuy: Definitely one of the nicest students in the class. He has a friendly demeanor, is very considerate towards his classmates, and won't easily let his emotions get the best of him. Even after [[spoiler: showing off some terrifying displays of bloodlust]], his classmates still treat him like the meek, amicable guy that he is.
* NightmareFace: An unusual example, but his innocent smiling faces have given [[spoiler:Takaoka]] some serious nightmares.
* NotSoAboveItAll: While he's usually the classroom's level-headed [[OnlySaneMan sane man]], he won't hesitate to get a little mischievous when a plan calls for messing with Koro-sensei or one of the uppity students of the main building.
* ObliviousToHisOwnDescription: It has been remarked that he is the only person who doesn't realize just how insanely powerful his killing intent is.
* OddFriendship: With Karma. Despite being close and long-time friends who are often seen together, they're quite different. Karma is extroverted, aggressive and crass. He takes his time, enjoys taunting his opponents and attacks them recklessly and brutally. Nagisa is calm and polite. As an assassin, he's far more professional than Karma, hiding his intentions and going straight for precision kills before the target even expects anything.
* [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Ordinary Middle School Student]]: Thoroughly normal, though in keeping with this trope there are a couple hidden special things about him. (See ChildProdigy, DissonantSerenity)
* PintSizedPowerhouse: The shortest male in the classroom and he can take down [[spoiler:Takaoka]] with ease.
* PostKissCatatonia: He passes out after receiving a 30-hit kiss from Bitch-sensei.
* PsychoticSmirk: Has an utterly chilling one when he gets serious. See DissonantSerenity.
* RageBreakingPoint: After keeping his composure together while trying to [[spoiler: appease Takaoka in order to obtain the antidote to the lethal virus afflicting his classmates]], he finally loses it when [[spoiler: Takaoka destroys the antidote anyways]].
* RaisedAsTheOppositeGender: The reason for his feminine tendencies. [[spoiler: His mother is a psychotic ControlFreak who forces him to act and dress like a girl, because she never wanted a male child.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue Oni to Karma's Red Oni.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The Sensitive Guy to Karma's Manly Man.
* ShrinkingViolet: While not nearly as timid as Okuda, he's fairly quiet and withdrawn, so only speaks when he feels he has something to contribute. This greatly assists his assassin skills, because no one can see him coming. [[spoiler: He probably developed these tendencies so he wouldn't provoke his mother's violent temper.]]
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: A male example. He is a reserved, polite, and quiet boy, in stark contrast to FieryRedhead Karma.
* SilkHidingSteel: Male version. He is certainly not your traditional badass, but he can make himself appear so innocent that a man intent on beating him into submission was stunned into inaction long enough for him to get in position for what could easily have been a killing blow. [[spoiler:Even in their rematch, when his opponent was expecting it.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Although he probably has his dad's hair and eyes, everything else on his face makes him resemble his mother.
* SupportingProtagonist: From chapter 1 onward, he's been making note of every weakness his sensei has, from the weak, like Sensei's preference for large breasts, to the strong, like [[spoiler:his reduced stamina after regenerating a wound, and his inability to swim]].
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: Justified, since English is his strongest subject. We get to see one of Nagisa's graded English assignments in chapter 2. It's not perfect, but it's easily understandable. For added attention to detail, there are even a couple of spelling errors that are pointed out.
-->'''Note:''' "There aren't many grammatical errors and it wraps up nicely. What an excellent journal entry!!"
* TranquilFury: When [[spoiler:Takaoka blows up the antidote needed to save his friends]], he develops DullEyesOfUnhappiness and not-so-calmly announces [[spoiler:his intention to kill him]]. After Koro-sensei and Terasaka talk him out of diving into a full blown UnstoppableRage, his anger cools into a peaceful, terrifying smile as he prepares to [[spoiler: use the "secret killing technique" on Takaoka]].
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: It's present for the entire class, but he's a very notable case. He's just too much of a natural at assassinations, which becomes even more troubling when juxtaposed with his usual behavior.
* UncannyValleyGirl: RareMaleExample. Well, he looks girly enough to be an UncannyValleyGirl. Nevertheless, beware if he smiles gently at you.
* WaistcoatOfStyle: He's the only one student who wears the waistcoat without the blazer over it.
* WeakButSkilled: Takaoka notes that Nagisa is amongst the weakest of the boys, with physical stats closer to that of a girl's. A few pages later, Karasuma is staring at Nagisa in awe as [[spoiler:he managed to take down Takaoka in a matter of seconds]] and noting that Nagisa's talent never would have been discovered in the course of a normal school life.
* WellDoneSonGuy: It's not brought up often, but his parents haven't looked him in the eye ever since he landed in class E, and he would very much like to make, if not them, at least ''someone'' proud of him. And he's literally willing to kill to reach that goal.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Nagisa outright says that his father [[spoiler: left home because he didn't want to deal with his mother's psychosis.]] Therefore, they don't get to see each other often, which is unfortunate because theirs seems to be one of the very few positive parent-child relationships in the series. Nagisa seems to like him much more than his mother, who he lives with. [[spoiler: This turns out to be true as in chapter 113, which reveals that his mother is quite abusive.]]
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His hair is light blue.

%%Trope names are not allowed to be placed in spoiler tags. Therefore, in the interest of preserving the twist pertaining to Akari Yukimura, please list such tropes under her entry under "Class 3-E Transfer Students" instead.
%%
%%
%%
%%

She's one of Nagisa's closest friends, and like him, she usually stands in the background and supports the others. She is the student who came up with Koro-sensei's name. [[spoiler: She is the alias of Akari Yukimura, a transfer student who entered the class to kill Koro-sensei. See her entry under "Class 3-E Transfer Students" for more information.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Kayano:

* ACupAngst: She's really self-conscious about it, and claims to have B-cups whenever asked. A RunningGag is her bringing it up regardless of how relevant it is to the current situation.
* AffectionateNickname: She is called "Kayanocchi" by Okano.
* BareYourMidriff: The outfit she wore while [[ItMakesSenseInContext pretending to be a fish]].
* BerserkButton: She hates big boobs, and it's usually PlayedForLaughs. Though there are certain [[http://www.mangahere.co/manga/ansatsu_kyoushitsu/c066/13.html exceptions]].
* BiTheWay: She has obviously an eye on Nagisa, but has swooned over Kataoka and Yada too.
* CompletelyMissingThePoint: When the students push to have Irina-sensei kicked out of 3-E, her reason isn't Irina's initially poor teaching and lack of faith in the class, as it was with the other students. It was her boobs.
* DamselInDistress: In the Kyoto arc, and it would have happened again in the Assassination Island arc if the class hadn't decided to forego the hostage trade-off and just infiltrate the Fukuma Palace Hotel.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Despite the fact that she's a major viewpoint student, she usually stands in the background or supports them. She shines in chapter 80 for the first time, with very little foreshadowing (see FreezeFrameBonus below). [[spoiler:Chapter 128 onwards is all about her.]]
* {{Determinator}}: While she's usually a support type character, she's very adept at getting things done when she really puts her mind into something.
* {{Foil}}: To Nagisa. She'd probably like to be something a ''little'' [[ShipTease more intense]], but until he bothers to notice, she'll settle for being the friend he can bounce ideas off of and occasionally makes good points of her own. She provides much of the useful excuse for his FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator status. [[spoiler:The ShipTease she has with Nagisa could all be an act, though.]]
* FreezeFrameBonus: In the end of chapter 80, there is a very little minor detail of Kayano's appearance. A minor detail that foreshadows a [[spoiler:big plot twist]]. [[http://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xap1/t51.2885-15/e15/10661259_798108633578123_1563893368_n.jpg See here]]
* GenkiGirl: An upbeat character, especially when it comes to pudding and other sweets.
* HairIntakes: Invoked. She seems to have a cat-ears-looking hairstyle, but it's shown not to be natural.
* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler: The best hidden of everyone in Class E, beyond even Nagisa. Most of her personality is a facade made to hide the hatred she harbors for Koro-sensei, who she assumes killed her sister.]]
* LettingHerHairDown: At the end of the Kyoto arc, after taking a bath. [[spoiler:Does it again after revealing her true self.]]
* NiceGirl: She's a fairly nice student when she's not being plagued by her ACupAngst. [[spoiler:It's all an act.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** Okano's reaction to Kayano being not disgusted by Yada's big boobs.
** In chapter 80, she appoints herself leader of the "Pudding Killsplosion Plan". The other students [[LampshadeHanging lampshade]] that she's always devoted to logistical support.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Her skills lie in logical and logistical support and pudding-making, not combat, so she becomes this when compared to the likes of Nagisa and Karma. [[spoiler:She's actually not what she appears to be. Being far more skillful than Nagisa and Karma, she invoked this trope by using her skills as a prodigal child actress to hide her true intentions.]]
* {{Pettanko}}: She is frequently mocked for her small bust, to the point where it's documented as "Forever 0". [[BlatantLies She claims to have B-cups.]]
* PostKissCatatonia: [[spoiler:In Chapter 132, Nagisa gives her a 15-hit kiss, which knocks her out.]]
* SeashellBra: A feature of her fish costume.
* ShipTease: She's implied to have feelings for Nagisa. [[spoiler: Which could be just a mask.]]
* SuperDrowningSkills: Girl can't swim worth beans. She had to wear a lifebuoy to keep afloat during a plan that involved pretending to be a fish creature. [[spoiler:Her reason for not being able to swim is revealed in Chapter 128 where she seems to be similar to Koro-sensei and Itona, who also cannot swim.]]
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: She has golden eyes [[spoiler: and it's later revealed she's not as normal as she seems. She has tentacles like Koro-sensei and Itona.]]
* SweetTooth: Chapter 80 reveals her love for pudding. She gets the opportunity to use pudding for an assassination. [[spoiler: This makes her similar to Koro-sensei and Itona.]]
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: In the sports festivals, she participates in the net race game and she crawls really fast through the net because she's so [[{{Pettanko}} flat]].
* WhamLine:
** [[spoiler:''"I love you Koro-sensei. Now, die."'']]
** [[spoiler:''"I'm the younger sister of Aguri Yukimura. Get it now, murderer?"'']]
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Green Hair]]: Her hair is green. [[spoiler:Unnaturally green actually, since she dyed it to conceal her real appearance. Her hair is actually black, just like her sister's.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto (Japanese), Creator/AustinTindle (English)

->''"I think not enjoying yourself in a classroom where it's okay to kill is such a waste."''

A student who joined late due to being suspended from school for trashing his teacher's office. He started off holding a major grudge against all teachers, and as such is one of the students most dedicated to the assassination. Koro-sensei helped him get over that particular issue, but he is still a near-sociopath who loves to beat people into unconsciousness who aren't his classmates. He often hangs around with Nagisa.

3rd best marksmanship, boys' side.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Karma:

* AcademicAthlete: One of the best students in studying and sports. The problem: he is a lazy BullyHunter.
* TheAce: One of the most physically capable students, ranked third in marksmanship, as well as the best in academic performance. He has the second best track record among the normal human students when it comes to threatening Koro-sensei.
* ArcVillain: While not exactly a straight up villan, he was definitive an antagonist to Koro-sensei in chapter 4 to 6.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: In contrast to Kimura, who's embarrassed by his first name of [[spoiler:Justice]], Karma genuinely likes his name, which is a result of his parents loving Indian culture.
* AxCrazy: In the beginning of the series, he has shown a crazy obsession for killing Koro-sensei. It toned down after he learns to respect his teacher.
* BadAss: It was always clear since he was the first student to injure Koro-sensei, but [[spoiler:during the Assassination Island arc, he takes on an adult pro assassin, and it's obvious the whole time that he's got the guy's number, both in hand-to-hand and in guile]].
* {{Bishounen}}: Several of the girls state that he's pretty good looking.
* BitingTheHandkerchief: He isn't crying, and it isn't played for laughs, but biting his [[spoiler: test papers]] is a clear sign of how upset he is by [[spoiler:failing to beat Asano Jr. in the math portion of the first term finals, and on top of that performing worse than in the mid terms when class E had a handicap]].
* BreakoutCharacter: Karma is the most popular student alongside Nagisa, and he's one of the most prominent and important students of the series.
* BrilliantButLazy: Aside from assassination attempts, he never seems to put much effort into anything, even training. Not that it affects his performance [[DeconstructedTrope Comes to bite him in the ass]] [[spoiler:during the first term finals where he performs badly enough to go from 4th to 13th place in the school rankings. Certainly, he still did great for someone who didn't study at all, but he ''could have done better'' and all involved knowing this]].
* BloodKnight: He is usually the first one who picks up in a fight.
* BreakTheHaughty:
** Karma gets a little too proud of his early successes against Koro-sensei. However, all he really managed to do was draw Koro-sensei's full attention to him, and Koro-sensei makes sure that he knows exactly how outmatched he is by dealing with his attempts in the the most offhand and humiliating ways he can, until Karma is [[DrivenToSuicide Driven To]] SuicideAttack. Fortunately for him, Koro-sensei always fixes what he breaks.
** Chapter 54 really puts him in his place when [[spoiler: his overall raking decreases when he fails to adequately study for the Final Exams.]]
* BrokenPedestal: A teacher he looked up to protected him from the consequences of his [[BullyHunter Bully Hunting]] because of his good grades...until he targeted the wrong person. The pedestal breaking is (very) graphically depicted by the teacher crumbling to dust until only a skeleton remains.
* BullyHunter: It was this hobby of his that landed him in class E when he beat up a top-ranking student in defense of a member of said class.
* ButterflyKnife: For added cool, the anime gives Karma one during his introductory attack on Koro-sensei. He even shows off a few tricks before pocketing it.
* CharacterDevelopment: Sheds his BrilliantButLazy traits after his TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and BreakTheHaughty moments, as shown in Chapter 76, when a panel depicting his room shows that he has actually been studying. It pays off during [[spoiler: the second semester mid-terms, where he ranks second, and is the only student in Class E with improved scores despite being insufficiently prepared for the exams.]]
* CheshireCatGrin: He's often seen wearing a wide, open-mouthed grin, especially when he's in the middle of ruining someone's day.
* CombatPragmatist: Justified by the nature of the series. His real strength lies in his intelligence and traps.
* {{Delinquent}}: He often skips classes, loves to pick fights on streets and anywhere, and was suspended before the beginning of the series.
* EmptyEyes: Looking closely, Karma's eyes lack the shine his classmates have. Also, his eyes are drawn a little wider, making him appear just a bit... [[UncannyValley off]] compared to the others.
* EvilRedhead: At first. Has shades of a male FieryRedhead afterward.
* FieryRedhead: His red hair matches his violent and rebellious personality.
* FirstNameBasis: Most of his classmates, as well as Koro-sensei, call him by his first name. He's sometimes called by his last name.
* {{Foil}}: Gakushuu Asano might be one being set up for him, seeing as both students are the strongest of their respective classes. The fact that [[spoiler:Karma lost to him during the final exams]] really got to him.
* GuileHero: His Establishing Character Moment has him offer Koro-sensei a an introductory handshake...with a hand that's secretly covered in anti-sensei fragments. Other highlights include his plan in Chapter 49.
* HeelFaceTurn: He was not only willing to end Koro-sensei's life, but also to destroy his existence as an teacher. After Koro-sensei saved his life, Karma accepted as his teacher and will "only" try to kill him.
* IShallTauntYou: A common tactic of Karma's that he's very skilled in. If he isn't doing it himself he's coaching others in how to do it.
* KarmicTrickster: Not that his name and habit of hunting bullies isn't a warning... And, you do need that warning for when he gets serious. Do not provoke him -- mayhem ensues.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Karma is initially introduced as an AxCrazy lunatic, but is later revealed to have been a BullyHunter and an excellent student. What landed him in Class E wasn't his being evil, but siding with a Class E student who was being bullied.
* ALessonInDefeat: His scores slip during the first term finals because he was arrogant about his intelligence and didn't study hard enough to succeed with the increased difficulty. Fortunately, he takes the lesson to heart, and starts working much harder from then on.
* MeaningfulName: As a BullyHunter, [[KarmicTrickster Karma]] is the bad thing that happens to [[AssholeVictim bad people]]. He also says that his parents love India, which would explain why they named him like that. He really does enjoy dishing out [[AndIMustScream G-rated ironic fates]] that are still pretty horrendous whenever he can manage them...perhaps a [[{{Troll}} little too much at times]]. Think a young, male Nemesis on a budget.
* NotAfraidToDie: Jumped off a cliff as part of an assassination attempt. He wasn't sure if Koro-sensei would even try to rescue him, and even if he did, if Karma's plan had gone as he intended he would have fallen to his death after killing Koro-sensei. He's developed to become more attached to his life since then.
* [[ObstructiveBureaucrat Evil Bureaucrat]]: What he wants to be when he grows up.
* OralFixation: Chews things--fingernails, paper, whatever--when he's seriously upset.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Can effortlessly subdue [[BigGuy Terasaka]] using one hand, despite being barely half his size. Inverted, as Karma's not that short since he is 175 cm, which is around average or above average height for a Japanese man. He and Terasaka (180 cm) are actually five cenimeters (two inches) apart in height. He just looks short due to Terasaka being so big in build.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: [[spoiler:On the receiving end of one, from Koro-sensei, after he gets lower scores than previously on the first term exams.]] Of course, it was to help him learn and grow, but it was still harsh-sounding enough to qualify.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red Oni to Nagisa's Blue Oni.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The Manly Man to Nagisa's Sensitive Guy.
* SlasherSmile: Does this very often.
* SociopathicHero: Unlike Nagisa, he isn't just capable of violence, but enjoys it. A lot. People he targets often end up very badly injured. Thankfully, he seems to have [[BullyHunter a sort of a code]].
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: He didn't have to use Koro-sensei's tentacle earphone when he and Nagisa skipped class to go watch Nagisa's favorite movie in Hawaii. Since he's very intelligent, he probably understands and excels at English even though he's never seen speaking it.
* {{Troll}}: When he starts [[ItAmusedMe really enjoying himself]], he can cross the line from the [[TheTrickster Tricksterish]] BullyHunter to outright {{Troll}} in seconds. And, you really ''don't'' want him to do that when he's holding tubes of wasabi paste or anywhere near [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce Scotch Bonnets]]... Comes rather too close to FortheEvulz for comfort.
* TrueCompanions: Despite his sometimes aloof behavior, he gets along very well with his classmates and he never harms any of them, despite being a BloodKnight. He's also a BullyHunter because he cares for his classmates.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Karma has yellow-gold eyes, and is most dangerous for his high intelligence and prankster tendencies.

!!!Tropes associated with Sugino:

* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 2, and later chapter 33 to 36.
* [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Ordinary Middle School Student]]: Except for his talent in baseball, he is pretty normal compared to the other boys. He also has the most ordinary character design.
* {{Keet}}: He gets really happy whenever he accomplishes something.
* ShounenHair: To distinguish him from Isogai, Sugino's hair is shorter, a bit spikier and looks more generic.

A timid girl who is good in math and science but weak in Japanese and other languages. She has a talent for making poisons, medicines and other chemicals. [[spoiler: Ranked top in the school for Science.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Okuda:

* BewareTheQuietOnes: Especially if they calmly offer you food or drink...
* BrutalHonesty: In her introduction chapter, she outright ''asks'' Koro-sensei to drink her poisons. He takes advantage of it to teach her that'd be fatal in real life.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 7. And later a little bit in chapter 51 to 53, along with Nakamura, Isogai and Kanzaki.
* FriendlessBackground: According to her character profile, she had no friends before joining class E.
* MadScientist: A young, G-rated version. Look at her rather worrying smile when she's presenting her [[LaxativePrank "Victoria Falls"]].
* MasterPoisoner: In training. While homemade toxins are her specialty, she really needs to work on her delivery.
* {{Meganekko}}: The only girl of the class who wears glasses.
* NerdsAreSexy: It's her talent for making interesting chemicals that's got Karma's attention. The glasses may also help.
* NoSocialSkills: She is awkward, timid and incredibly straightforward. Her method of trying to poison Koro-sensei was to walk up to him and ask him to drink her concoctions. Then, when Koro-sensei offered to tutor her on how to create a chemical mixture that would kill him, she took him at face value. In truth, the medicine that she made is actually a medicine that improves his fluidity. Koro-sensei uses this as an lesson for Okuda on why delivery (or conversation skills) was also a necessity.
* {{Pettanko}}: She has A-cups.
* ShrinkingViolet: Although she's slowly coming out of her shell, she's still very shy.

!!!Tropes associated with Sugaya:

* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 37.
* ArtAttacker: He attempts to use his art and disguise talents to assassinate Koro-sensei, without much success.
* {{Delinquent}}: Averted. When he appeared with a henna tattoo on his left arm, everyone was worried that he became one.
* [[DistractedByTheSexy Distracted by the Ugly]]: During the final exams of the first semester, the [[{{Gonk}} ugly]] replacement of Ritsu was sitting next to him, so he couldn't concentrate and ended up getting the lowest score in the class. However, [[spoiler:he still increased his rank from 149 to 95, being in the middle ground among those in his grade]].
* MadArtist: He is not mad, but in chapter 37, he uses henna paint mixed with Anti-Sensei material to try to kill Koro-sensei. However, the tattoo is extremely painful, so naturally, Koro-sensei decides not to sit still long enough to be killed by it.
* MarkOfTheBeast: How he describes his henna tattoo in chapter 37. When Bitch-sensei shows up and sees that every student has henna tattoos on their arms, she is so shocked that she almost believes they are monsters.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SatomiSato (Japanese), Creator/LeahClark (English)

A beautiful and popular student, said to be the idol of class E. Comes from a conservative, wealthy family, who wanted her to be an ideal Japanese woman. Rebelled against her family by constantly visiting arcades and ignoring her studies, which caused her grades to drop to the point that she was moved to class E.

5th best marksmanship, girls' side. [[spoiler:Ranked 2nd in school for Japanese Literature.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Kanzaki:

* DamselInDistress: In the Kyoto arc.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 15 to 17. And later a little bit in chapter 51 to 53, along with Nakamura, Okuda and Isogai.
* FantasyForbiddingFather[=/=]TranquilFury: Her father is an strict, stern man who despises her attitude and prohibits her anything he thinks may be detrimental to her high status. [[AllThereInTheManual In the volume 03 extras]], her father yells at her and orders her to change her behavior, but she refuses to obey him and states that she's determined to keep going. In the volume 04 extras, her father chews her out (again) and demands she pursues a career in law, which he considers the right path for someone of her status. At that point, Kanzaki [[FlippingTheBird flips him off]], tells him that she wants to become a caretaker and that's final. All with a calm smile in her face.
* GamerChick: Not just regular games. She wins at BulletHell arcade games, while never losing her YamatoNadeshiko demeanor. It's deconstructed, in that she got so good at video games by shirking her studies to rebel against her parents, and that's how she ended up in Class-E.
* LadyOfWar: What she's probably going to wind up being by the time she's grown up a bit. Specialising in hand-guns and short-range weaponry with oodles of grace and refinement, in her case. She's not far from being one already, as it stands.
* NaginatasAreFeminine. She [[ItMakesSenseInContext uses a naginata in the literature exam]] as the YamatoNadeshiko she is.
* NiceGirl: The main reason for her popularity among Class E. When the boys voted on which girl was the most attractive, she came first, and personality and face were listed as the reasons for that.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: She has a bad track record of attracting womanizers and thugs with her looks.
* StepfordSmiler: After falling to Class E, she became depressed because her teenage rebellion led her to fail her family. Thanks to [[PsychologistTeacher Koro-sensei]] she got better.
* YamatoNadeshiko: She is noted for her grace, helpfulness and reliability, and is very popular among the male students. As is customary, she also has some steel to her as well. !!!Tropes associated with Kataoka:

* AcademicAthlete: She is one of the best students in studies, and excellent in sports. The only reason she drops into Class E is because she was a victim of TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity.
* ClassRepresentative: Together with Isogai.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 44 to 45.
* DistaffCounterpart: To Isogai. Both are the {{Class Representative}}s and {{The Leader}}s of Class E, are nice and helpful, good in basically everything, very popular and are ''ikemen'' (despite Kataoka being a girl).
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: A flashback shows that a female student gave her a love letter. Kayano has some affection for her, and Kokona likes her enough to [[FanDisservice lick her hand]]. AllThereInTheManual states that Yada has a crush on her.
* ExtremeDoormat: Started out like this, anyway. Has since taken a level in backbone.
* {{Foil}}: To Nagisa regarding their athletic abilities. Nagisa is noted to have physical strength equal to a girl, while Kataoka has the athletic conditions of boys.
* InSeriesNickname: Ikemegu (from ''ikemen'') and Megumegu (by Kokona).
* TheLeader: Type II and IV. Like Isogai, she's a charismatic and helpful person, but she's also noted for having good command and leadership skills.
* NiceGirl: She's a very helpful student with a nice personality, but, in contrast to Isogai, she had a [[ExtremeDoormat problem with refusing offers]].
* NotSoStoic: Usually one of the more serious students, but sometimes she can't keep her cool.
* OneSteveLimit: With none other than [[SadistTeacher Ta]][[JerkAss ka]][[AxCrazy o]][[WouldHurtAChild ka]].
* [[BridalCarry Princess Carry]]: According to her character profile, she longs to be given one. Unfortunately for her, the rest of the girls in the class misunderstood her and thought she longed to ''give'' one to somebody, [[UpToEleven so they all lined up in front of her asking for one]].
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Was known by the name "Megu" until official sources translated it as "Meg".
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: A victim of this. She spent so much time helping another student study (because of emotional blackmail) that she fell behind in her weaker school subjects and landed in Class E. [[spoiler:After Koro-sensei and others helped her get out of it, she was back on the right footing]].
* {{Tomboy}}: To the point that people describe her as an ''ikemen'' ("cool/good-looking guy").

A girl with a ponytail and one of the more frequently seen students. She's very enthusiastic about learning the art of infiltration assassination from Irina. 3rd best knife work (tied), girls' side.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Yada:

* BuxomIsBetter: She is the only girl in the class who has E-cups, having the largest bust of the girls, and is still growing. Her profile says she worries about the day when she'll go up a cup size. And she was voted as the second most popular girl by the boys during the Kyoto trip because of her breasts. The fact that not even Kayano dislikes her bust helps.
* CoolBigSis: Apparently. She tells Koro-sensei a sad story about her and her younger brother [[spoiler:to escape from jail during the tag game]]. The story is a lie, but it's unknown if she really has a younger brother.
* CrazyPrepared: Learning from Bitch-sensei, she starts carrying around different organizations' badges just in case.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 66. Has another one on Chapter 107, along with Kurahashi.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: At least, even the big-boobs-hating Kayano wants her.
* EveryoneHatesMath: She's one of the eight/nine students who is weak in math.
* FilleFatale: In charm-school training and quite enthusiastic about it. She was the most focused when attending Bitch-sensei's courses, and decided to take the skills of infiltration (as in entertaining and negotiating) as her secondary weapon for her future.
* HoneyPot: G-rated version, but she did learn how to charm people from Bitch-sensei. She usually takes care of the role of negotiator on Class E's missions.
* LipstickLesbian: AllThereInTheManual suggests that she may be this. Her feelings for Kataoka are described in the same way as Irina's feelings for Karasuma.
* ThoseTwoGirls: Frequently shown alongside Kurahashi on group shots.

* EveryoneHatesMath: She's one of the eight/nine students who is weak in math.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: ''"I love all living things~."'' She is an expert when it comes to biology, and she also can interact with dolphins, [[spoiler:which helps her during the assassination attempt on Koro-sensei in the Assassination Island arc]].
* FilleFatale: Guess under whose guidance, eh?
* GenkiGirl: She's really cheery and upbeat, [[DissonantSerenity even while attempting to assassinate Koro-sensei or capturing enemy soldiers]].
* HoneyPot: G-rated version.

3rd best knife work (tied), girls' side.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Hayami:

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the first few chapters she had a much more mild personality, smiling and chatting with other students normally. It was only later on that she developed into TheStoic.
* ColdSniper: Best marksmanship on the girls' side, and possibly the coldest, most businesslike student.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 68, along with Chiba.
* DistaffCounterpart: To Chiba. They're both stoic sharpshooters who fell into Class 3-E for the same reasons.

* GirlishPigtails: Since the Assassination Island arc.
* TheQuietOne: Doesn't talk often. Her few conversations are straightforward and to the point.
* TheStoic: She is the most calm and most serious girl. Even when a bullet nearly hits her head, she tries not to freak out. She's also one of the few students who doesn't have exaggerated comical expressions.
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: It's revealed that she was a victim of this like Kataoka, and that's why she dropped into Class E.
* {{Tsundere}}: After saying the line "Don't get the wrong idea!" to [[spoiler:Itona]], [[AllMenArePerverts Okajima]] and [[{{Otaku}} Takebayashi]] [[LampshadeHanging lampshade]] that's a typical ''tsundere'' line. Hayami usually doesn't act like a ''tsundere'', though, and her line doesn't make sense in context to be a ''tsundere'' line. It's more like those two really want it to be true.
* WeaponOfChoice: A handgun.

* BlindingBangs: His eyes are perpetually covered by his hair.
** [[{{Irony}} They are actually the reason he shoots so well.]] Each strand of hair marks off a part of his field of vision, so he can use them in place of gun sights.
** In one chapter, this earns him the nickname "Adult Game Protagonist" due to the fact that the protagonists of hentai games sport a similar hairstyle.

Class 3-E's male class representative.

An intelligent, athletic, and all-around nice student who comes from a very poor family. He was placed in Class 3-E as punishment for having a part-time job, which was a violation the school rules. 2nd best marksmanship, best knife work, boys' side. [[spoiler:Ranked top in school for Social Studies, and placed 10th for composite score.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Isogai:

* AcademicAthlete: He's excellent in studying and sports. The only reason he's in Class E is because he broke the school rules by having a part-time job.
* TheAce: The first half of Chapter 90 is basically dedicated to establishing how awesome he is at everything. He seems to be good at every single thing he does, be it combat or studies. Asides from that, he also works part time to help his family, takes care of his younger siblings and is the class rep of Class E. No wonder why he is regarded In-Universe as one of the nicest and more trustworthy guys in the class, if not the whole manga. Similar to Karma, he is only in Class E because he broke the school rules.
* BadassInANiceSuit: As noted above, his combat skills are exceptional. He's also one of only two characters to wear the full school uniform, with both jacket and waistcoat (the other is Takebayashi).
* {{Bishounen}}: He's one of the boys who looks a bit effeminate, though not nearly as much as Nagisa. Also acknowledged in-universe to be the hottest guy in Class E.
* ChildhoodFriends: AllThereInTheManual states he and Maehara grew in the same neighbourhood and have been best friends since elementary school.
* ClassRepresentative: Together with Kataoka.
* ADayInTheLimelight: A little bit in chapter 51 to 53, along with Nakamura, Okuda and Kanzaki. Has a much bigger one in the arc from chapter 90 to 94.
* DisappearedDad: Supplementary material reveals his father to be deceased.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: When dealing with four particularly assholish students from the main building, Nagisa, Nakamura and Kanzaki all scare them off by holding pens or rulers against their necks. Isogai does the same thing, but with a single finger.
* HairAntennae: Has them, though he doesn't fit the personality type. His character profile says that people want to rip them out, so if you see him in fanart and another character is near him holding scissors or shears, that's why. Some bonus art shows it's also apparently genetic, given his younger siblings also have it.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Maehara, to the point AllThereInTheManual he has full knowledge of his entire dating history.
* HonestCorporateExecutive: What he wants to be when he grows up.
* KnifeNut: Best of the male students.
* TheLeader: Type IV. He's the second student considered as the leader because of his charisma and his helpfulness. Regarding his leadership skills, he uses the individual strengths of his classmates in benifit for the whole class and he supports them when needed.
* NiceGuy: He's a helpful boy with a friendly and cheerful personality. That's one of the reasons why he's so popular, even among the main building (female) students.
--> '''Maehara:''' "He's just a nice guy."
* SocialClimber: Of the idealistic variety. Though he comes from a poor family, according to his profile he wants to own a business some day.
* SpearCounterpart: To Kataoka. Both are the {{Class Representative}}s and {{The Leader}}s of Class E, are nice and helpful, good in basically everything, very popular and are ''ikemen''.
* SupportingLeader: The ClassRepresentative. The pole match between Class A and Class E starting in Chapter 91 is basically a fight between the two leaders of Isogai and Asano Jr.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Particularly in crowd shots, Isogai and Maehara are almost always seen standing close or next to each other.

After finding the enthusiasm to kill Koro-sensei with the class, his talent for encouraging and motivating people was revealed. [[spoiler:Placed 1st in home economics, tied with Yoshida, Muramatsu and Hazama]].
----
!!!Tropes associated with Terasaka:

* TheAtoner: Becomes this after the pool arc.
* TheBigGuy: Does not have any talent in assassination. But in Koro-sensei's words, he has the amazing potential to become an operational type assassin because he shines in physical strength and his ability to (and encourage others to) get things done.
* BookDumb: Since Terasaka is the only student who is particularly weak in multiple subjects, Koro-sensei decides to [[ShoutOut treat him like]] IdiotHero ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''.
* TheBully: He used his tall and muscular body to suppress other students without fighting. This bit back when his grades became so low that students in the main building became unimpressed with him, and now they bully him. He's still a bully, but not as bad as he used to be.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 46 to 49.
* {{Delinquent}}: He's a troublemaker who didn't take his grades seriously during his first two years at Kunugigaoka. Ironically, he was scorned by his former classmates for trying to get the other students to slack off instead of studying to stay out of Class 3-E.
* DumbMuscle: Has a habit of doing things without thinking. Subverted, though, as he isn't really dumb.
* EasilyForgiven: Terasaka does redeem himself for participating in Shiro's scheme during the Pool Arc, but nobody seems to remember that time when he convinced Nagisa to become a suicide bomber. Fortunately, Nagisa brushed off the incident as water under the bridge when the attempt was later referenced by Karasuma.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Those trope citations for TheBully, {{Delinquent}}, and {{Jerkass}} are well deserved, but he draws the line at [[spoiler: endangering the lives of his classmates by blowing up the pool they're in]].
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan:

** In the Assassination Island arc, he doesn't let anyone notice that [[spoiler:he was also infected by the virus]] and fights alongside the other remaining students due to his sheer [[{{Determinator}} determination]] to [[TheAtoner make up for what he did]] in the Pool arc.
* TheMole: Briefly worked as one for Shiro so he could avoid drawing attention with his presence. [[spoiler: Quit once he found out just how little regard for Class E's lives Shiro had]].
* RealMenWearPink: [[spoiler:During the first term finals, he gets a perfect score (and is tied for the top rank) in home economics]].
* RousingSpeech: After taking a dose of CharacterDevelopment, he becomes capable of delivering some of the most pivotal speeches in the entire series.
** When [[spoiler: Nagisa prepares to make a hate fueled, self-destructive attempt to murder Takaoka]], Terasaka snaps him out of it by convincing him that killing the piece of scum wasn't worth the consequences. Then he tops off his inspirational speech with, "Beat his ass just shy of killing him".
** He's the guy who finally convinces [[spoiler: Itona to give up his tentacles, change his perspective on Koro-sensei's assassination, and ultimately save his life.]] He does this by making a speech on the importance of persevering despite repeated failure, which he delivers while simultaneously [[spoiler: punching Itona in the face.]]
* RulesLawyer: [[spoiler:Well, it was never stipulated ''which'' subjects they should get first in, was it?]]
* SmugSnake: Yup--tends to think himself as being more important than he is. And, that the best way for a peaceful life is to bring others down to his own level. Oozes Smug. This has been in the process of changing a bit since he's taken a level in self-realization, but can still happen at random intervals.
* TookALevelInKindness: Since during the Pool arc, he is less aloof towards his classmates.

* {{Expy}}: Her appearance is similar to [[Literature/TheRing Sadako]].
* NamesToTrustImmediately: Subverted. Her name sounds cute, but she didn't become a cute girl like her mother hoped, mostly because her mother is hysterical.

->'''Voiced by:''' Manami Numakura (Japanese), Apphia Yu (English)

A girl with long red-blond hair who excels in English. She has a mischievous personality. 4th best marksmanship, girls' side. [[spoiler:Ranked top in school for English, and 11th for composite score.]]
----
!!!Tropes associated with Nakamura:

* AcademicAthlete: In chapter 111, she claims that she got 100% on 6th Grade Tests when she was in 1st grade. The reason she fell into Class E was because she wanted to know how it felt like to be normal, so she started goofing off and forgot how to study.
* ADayInTheLimelight: A little bit in chapter 51 to 53 and 111, along with Okuda, Isogai and Kanzaki.
* GenkiGirl: She's playful and energetic whenever she gets screentime.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: In-universe example. She often teases Nagisa for his feminine looks (and dresses him in girls' clothing). She ends up feeling sorry about her behavior after she learns [[spoiler: about Nagisa's relationship with his mother, which is the reason why he looks so feminine.]] This doesn't stop her from putting him in drag one last time when [[spoiler: the rich who developed a crush on Nagisa during their stint at the hotel drops by for the school festival.]]
* ThePeepingTom: Subverted when she peeps in the men's bath and [[AllMenArePerverts Okajima]] says that this is actually ''their'' job. However, it turns out that she wants to know what a naked Koro-sensei looks like, which may become helpful information in the future. It doesn't work.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Seems to have this relationship with Nagisa, often seen hanging out with him and teasing him for his feminine appearance (possibly because of their shared interest in English).

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShinyaTakahashi (Japanese), Creator/JoelMcDonald (English)

A boy who is good in editing videos and is interested in film production.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Mimura:

* AirGuitar: Apparently does this. Offscreen. Behind the school building where nobody can see.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He got a bit in chapter 108.
* TheGenericGuy: He's intrested in film making. That's about it personality wise for him.
* OneSteveLimit: With Kimura.

%%[[caption-width-right:350:some caption text]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RyoNaitou (Japanese), Nick Haley (English)

A boy with very short hair, who frequently opens his perverted side. 4th best knife work (tied), boys' side.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Okajima:

* AllMenArePerverts: So far, all of his noteworthy lines have been expressing this as an opinion. He sees a love of large breasts as a bond between all men, including himself, Koro-sensei and Itona. It's a good thing he doesn't sit next to Kayano.
* BadassBoast: "I am a pervert and you can despise me if you want. But because I ''am'' the most perverted guy out there, I know ''perversion can save the world''." Even his classmates are impressed by this line.
* ButtMonkey: The anime throws him into this role, especially in episode 5, when he ends up running into every hazard there is on a trip down the mountain.
* CameraFiend: He usually wants to take hot pictures of girls and women.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 56, parallel to Kurahashi.
* EveryoneHatesMath: One of the eight students who is weak on math.
* [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Perversion has Standards:]] When Koro-sensei is accused of stealing underwear and listing down the girls cup sizes, he is utterly repulsed.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Okajima convinces the class that they should run and jump from roof to roof, so they can train while going to school. In the end, he and Kimura [[spoiler:break an old man's leg by accident, which causes a few problems and makes Koro-sensei '''very angry''']].
* SeriousBusiness: ''"Perversion can save the world."'' He puts different porn magazines in the forest to research Koro-sensei's taste for a ''month''. Then he uses the right porn magazines as a trap. Though, everyone can see it's a trap.

->'''Voiced by:''' Shunsuke Kawabe (Japanese), Jean Luc Hester (English)

The fastest runner in the class. He's very embarrassed by the legal name bestowed on him by his parents. 4th best knife work (tied), boys' side.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Kimura:

* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 89.
* EmbarrassingFirstName[=/=]AwesomeMcCoolname: His legal name is [[spoiler:Justice Kimura]], which embarrasses him a lot with all the attention it draws, which is why he tells everyone to call him by his preferred name, Masayoshi. The rest of the class doesn't seem to think it's that bad though.
* GunsAkimbo: [[spoiler:In chapter 89, when he manages to take down Karasuma in the shooting exercise.]]
* LightningBruiser: He is the fastest runner in the class, able to do a 100 meter dash in 11 seconds flat, putting him in striking distance of the world record for someone in his age group. He uses his speed during the baseball match and during the Assassination Island arc.
* NamesToTrustImmediately: [[spoiler:Hey, it's Justice!]]
* OneSteveLimit: With Mimura.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: He's one of the shortest boys, only a little taller than Nagisa, which makes his speed and skill with knife work all the more impressive.
* WeNeedADistraction: Following one of Karma's plans, because of his speed he is called upon to lure a couple guards away from their posts during the hotel infiltration. He turns out to be bad at it, sounding incredibly awkward while trying to provoke them.
* WhoNamesTheirKidDude: Justified (sort of) by the fact that his parents are policemen.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaUeda (Japanese), Kristi Kang (English)

A girl who loves manga (especially Jump's series) and has a faible for making stories. She's shown to have some detective skills.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Fuwa:

* ADayInTheLimelight: Got a little bit in chapter 63.
* CastingGag[=/=]ActorAllusion: Her seiyuu KanaUeda also voiced [[MajinTanteiNougamiNeuro Yako]] who often said the phrase "The culprit is you!", which was also said by Fuwa herself in chapter 63.
* FantasySequence: Has one where she imagines Koro-sensei and Itona living together as children... in medieval times. They were separated from each other while fleeing an invasion. When asked why only one of them appears human, she [[HandWave Hand Waves]] it as "a mutation".
* GenkiGirl: Becomes especially excited when making up stories and relating scenarios to other mangas.
* KidDetective: Her specialty is solving mysteries, which she can do with either quick deductions or more general research, as when she tracks down [[spoiler:Itona]]'s history.
* MediumAwareness / LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Ultimately becomes the go-to character for dropping references to other manga and other fourth-wall awareness moments.
* {{Otaku}}: She reads lots of manga, and is usually seen with a copy of the latest issue of ''Magazine/ShonenJump''. Because of it, she was [[AmateurSleuth able to identify]] [[spoiler: Smog (who was disguised as a waiter to serve the drinks that contain the virus)]] by a small glance.
* RunningGag: Fuwa making a fourth-wall straining remark, as Nagisa stands in the background nervously saying, "Fuwa-san..."

[[folder:Class 3-E - Transfer Students]]

'''Warning: Several events and twists that are pivotal to the manga's plotline lie within the existence of these characters. Expect major spoilers, and read at your own risk!'''

The first two transfer students introduced to the classroom are special assassins sent by the government to aid the assassination effort against Koro-sensei. Their physical capabilities have been scientifically enhanced and their personalities (and their bodies) are quite eccentric as a result. Since both assassins are officially registered students at Kunugigaoka, Koro-sensei, under the conditions of his contract, is not allowed to retaliate against either of them.

----
!!Autonomously Thinking Fixed Artillery/Ritsu Ji

%%[[caption-width-right:350:some caption text]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SakiFujita (Japanese)

A transfer student and a literal killing machine with the face of a girl, designed to operate the combined armaments on warships and warplanes, and adapted to kill Koro-sensei. She is the inferior assassin to fellow assassin Itona, but she is still one of the most dangerous students.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Ritsu:

* TheAce: She's the strongest student in terms of firepower.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Ristu is designed as a learning AI-unit dedicated to assassination with a carefully simulated and bounded personality. Decided she preferred being a Moe student against orders when she got a personality upgrade (although, still quite happy to lend a helping hand to try destroying Koro-sensei).[[note]]This is more due to recognizing that working with the students is the better solution than simply spraying gunfire every period, rather than any actual liking for being Moe, however.[[/note]]
* ArcVillain: In chapter 20 to 22.[[note]]She had a HeelFaceTurn in chapter 21 and wasn't a villain anymore in chapter 22.[[/note]]
* ArmCannon: Several, which she can freely customize inside her body.
* AttackDrone: Her body is a [[TheMonolith monolith-shaped box]] with a screen which displays her face. Contains several customizable firearms and her AI, which can analyze Koro-sensei's movements and adjust her attack pattern accordingly.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: She's able to recalculate her firing patterns based on Koro-sensei's movements so that her next barrage of fire lands a hit.
* BadassBoast: After blowing off Koro-sensei's index finger, she delivers this:
--> '''Ritsu:''' "The killing probability of the next shot is less than 0.001%. The killing probability of the shot after that is less than 0.003%. The probability that I'll be able to kill you by graduation is more than 90%."
* CharacterDevelopment: Hilariously done within three chapters, from an EmotionlessGirl to a GenkiGirl with an own will. It should be noted that Koro-sensei invokes this trope.
* ComputerVoice: Speaks in a cold, computerized monotone. Her tone becomes more friendly and less mechanical when her personality is upgraded.
* CostumePorn: She wears fitting costumes for every situation. During the Assassination Island arc, she cosplays Ai from ''Manga/CatsEye''.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Ritsu may be an evolving machine capable of being a one-machine-firing-squad, with guns she can change the shape of at whim, but use some duct tape to keep the gunports closed and she's nothing more than a talking brick.
* CryCute: PlayedForLaughs, just to show how emotional she has become from her EmotionlessGirl state.
-->'''Kataoka''' (''to Terasaka'')''':''' "''Geez, you made her cry.''"\\
'''Hara''' (''to Terasaka'')''':''' "''Terasaka-kun made a 2D girl cry.''"
* EmotionlessGirl: Justified, she's a machine. However, it didn't last long, and she became a cheerful girl within a night, thanks to Koro-sensei who upgraded her. She even cries now.
* EmpathicEnvironment: Invoked. After receiving Koro-sensei's upgrades, the background displayed on Ritsu's monitor correlates to her mood. By default, it's bright and sunny when she's in her usual cheerful mood. Dark clouds will form when she becomes sad, and rain pours down when she starts crying.
* ForeignExchangeStudent: She's from Norway, technically.
* FullNameBasis: Everyone called her by her full moniker, with a -san for good measure, until they just shorten it to Ritsu.
* FunSize: Mobile Ritsu appears on smartphone displays.
* GenkiGirl: Post-upgrade, she becomes very cheerful and more sociable with the rest of the class.
* GirlishPigtails: Gains two long pigtails on the back of her head with her personality upgrade.
* GunsAkimbo: And she has more than two arms.
* TheGunslinger: She uses only guns, [[MorphWeapon and capable of changing their shape]].
* HeelFaceTurn: Originally a loner who tried to assassinate Koro-sensei without caring about the other students. After Koro-sensei upgraded her, and helped her recognize that working with the students was a more assured way of killing Koro-sensei, she is now one of the TrueCompanions.
* HollywoodHacking: She has high hacking skills since she is a AI. Her first demonstration of this skill is seen when she hacks and downloads herself onto each student's cell phone, giving them a mobile version of herself called "Mobile Ritsu".
** During the Assassination Island arc, she hacks into the secure system of the Fukuma Hotel Palace.
** [[spoiler: The God of Death turns this around on her mobile version, due to its lessened security.]]
* InSeriesNickname: "Ritsu", since she has an OverlyLongName.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: A minor version - the reason she rebels against her creators and keeps the program updates Koro-sensei gave her, even after her physical ones are mostly removed, is because she wants to work with her classmates and have a better chance at killing Koro-sensei.
* LoopholeAbuse: Koro-sensei's agreement as a teacher directly states he is not allowed to harm any of the students; that agreement says nothing on whether or not the "student" is human or not. The definitions of "harm" are extended, however, to preventing Ritsu from being upgraded, after Koro-sensei went so far with her initially.
* MatterReplicator: She is able to mold a special plastic inside her body into many different forms, even things like replicas of statues and flower bouquets.
* MachineMonotone: Part of being an EmotionlessGirl. And as being an actual machine, anyway. [[{{SubvertedTrope}} Koro-sensei gives her a much more natural voice so as to be more acceptable to the students]].
* MeaningfulName: Actually it's a ''literal'' name.
* MissionControl: Her role in the Assassination Island arc. An unusual example, as she is present with the other attack members all the time, just in her mobile form.
* MoreDakka:
** She uses shotguns and machine guns; due to the guns being connected to a supply of anti-sensei bullets, this means that she can fire them at max capacity without ever slowing down.
** This receives a bit of a deconstruction, in that when Ritsu first showed this off she pelted the other students more than Koro-sensei. This wasn't out of mis-aiming, but rather that, since Koro-sensei can move at Mach 20 in an enclosed space, it was all but ''required'' to learn how to hurt him. Since all she was firing were anti-sensei bullets, no bystanders were actually hurt, but it was enough that Terasaka taped her gun ports closed so the other students could actually ''learn''.
* MorphWeapon: Her guns are made from a type of plastic she forms inside of herself, though she's not limited to just making weapons out of it.
* MsFanservice: While she had a full-sized LCD screen, she gave Sugaya an answer in class by writing the answer on her thigh. She is also associated with CostumePorn.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: She is one of the most dangerous students and her main body has multiple arms.
* MundaneUtility: The students and Koro-sensei often use her state-of-the-art capabilities as a means to watch television.
* NerdGlasses: Her second ''Literature/SherlockHolmes''' cosplay.
* NewTransferStudent: In chapter 20, the politicians announced that two new transfer students would join the class. Ritsu is the first of the two.
* OverlyLongName: Jiritsu Shikou Kotei Houdai, or Autonomously Thinking Fixed Artillery in English.
* ThePromise: Ritsu upholding her promise to shape flowers for the other students is what proves to them that she's not a mere machine, and that she survived the reboot her creators tried to foist onto her.
* RobotGirl: A hilarious and original variation. Unlike other {{Robot Girl}}s, Ritsu doesn't have a humanoid body, but it's rather a huge box with weapons. Koro-sensei initially tried to give her a full LCD screen to make her seem more natural, but by default she simply has a screen that displays her face and little else.
* ScreensAreCameras: We get a vision from her perspective a couple of times, and each time is from the screen of her main body. However, it's hard to tell if the trope is being played straight or if Ritsu genuinely has a camera inside her screen, considering all the other advances about her.
* ShortHairWithTail: Most of her hair is in a bob haircut, but two long "tails" are grown out on both sides.
* TechnoBabble: Justified, she's an AI.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: Goes from a EmotionlessGirl to a GenkiGirl thanks to Koro-sensei's upgrades. Her creators wanted to turn her from her cheerful personality to her emotionless killer machine again. However, she was able to save and hide her memories from them and retaining her personality.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: Mobile Ritsu is this.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Provides an interesting example.
** Koro-sensei initially saw her as just a machine, but after she proved capable of evolving to match his tactics, he took a genuine interest in making her a proper student at his own monetary expense. He even refers to her creators as her "parents".
** The students, like Koro-sensei, didn't initially see her as anything more than an annoying machine. Her upgrade by Koro-sensei helped with this, though the class was still split due to the fact that much of her interactions were just considered programming. It was only when she proved willing to defy her creators to keep her programming, something neither her creators nor Koro-sensei had programmed into her to do or how to do, that everyone saw her as a student and ally.
** Her creators, however, see her as nothing more than a machine that will advance warfare and their own careers, caring nothing for the friendly and warm artificial intelligence that can actually hold conversations with people being developed within their war machine.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has purple hair.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A, during the times when her human visual representation is rendered as a full body.

!!Itona Horibe
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MegumiOgata (Japanese)

The second transfer student who was sent to assassinate Koro-sensei. He's the superior assassin to Ritsu, and he's a creature similar to Koro-sensei who refers to him as his "brother". His backstory reveals that [[spoiler:his family was a cellphone parts company which went bankrupt and his parents abandoned him. Shiro found him and implated the tentacle cells on his head. After losing three times to Koro-sensei, Shiro abandoned him, and Itona finally intends Class 3 after losing his tentacles which would have killed him. Now Itona is part of Terasaka's group who helped him accept his losses]].
----
!!!Tropes associated with Itona:

* TheAce: The most dangerous and most lethal student in the class. The reason, why he's transferred to the class after Ritsu, was because she was "significantly inferior" to him. Even after [[spoiler:losing his tentacles]], he retains his TheAce status by being good at studying and a GadgeteerGenius and shows some of his incredibly physical abilities.
* AllMenArePerverts: Like Koro-sensei, he loves big boobs.
* ArcVillain: In his introductory arc (chapter 29 to 32), then in the Pool arc (chapter 46 to 49), [[spoiler:and the final Itona arc (chapter 83 to 87)]].
* {{Badass}}: The only one who could fight Koro-sensei in man-to-man combat until being BroughtDownToNormal.
* BigEater[=/=]SweetTooth: Has the same love of sweets as Koro-sensei. He's seen eating a whole pile of them before his showdown with Koro-sensei.
* BrainsAndBrawn: He fights Koro-sensei with his enourmous strength, while his handler Shiro makes the plans and preparations for his battles.
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler:He was already broken before receiving his power. When he's abandoned by Shiro after losing three times to Koro-sensei, he gets even more broken. Fortunately, Koro-sensei and the class help him out of his crisis.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal:
** [[spoiler:Has his tentacles removed in chapter 87. After Shiro abandoned him, he no longer had the ability to recharge them, so they would have killed him otherwise.]]
** While he temporarily [[spoiler: retains his superhuman physical prowess after having his tentacles removed, Koro-sensei warns him that his body will eventually revert back to that of an ordinary middle school student.]]
* BrutalHonesty: He always says exactly what he thinks of people and will put no effort into sugarcoating his words. [[spoiler: After he joins the class and befriends Terasaka's gang,]] he straight up tells Muramatsu that his ramen is disgusting and makes him want to puke.
* TheBusCameBack: Of course he comes back. Like in the Pool arc. [[spoiler:Or in chapter 76. And then finally in chapter 83.]]
* CastFromHitPoints: His tentacles give him great power to fight in par with Koro-sensei when the latter is in disadvantage, [[spoiler:but they need a lot of energy and cause immense pain and stress to his body and brain that he needs rare and expensive medicine on a daily basis to stay alive. The tentacles drain so much energy from his brain that he's unable to use his high intelligence and learning ability]].
* CatchPhrase: ''"Sore dake de ii."'' It gets translated in a couple different ways, but it generally means "That alone is enough." If he weren't a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} it would be more like a MadnessMantra.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He just doesn't think like most people.
* CombatTentacles: He has the same tentacles like Koro-sensei on his head[[spoiler:until chapter 87]].
* CripplingOverspecialization: The tentacles, while providing him great strenght and power, severely limits his intellect and decision making prowess, forcing to him to attack mercilessly without any chance of overcoming any setback. No wonder the planning was done completely by Shiro.
* ADayInTheLimelight: [[spoiler:After his HeelFaceTurn]], chapter 88 focuses on his [[spoiler:integration in the class]]. He later gets a shining moment in chapter 94, [[spoiler:bringing his class the victory in boutaoshi]].
* DefusingTheTykebomb: Koro-sensei tries to accomplish this. [[spoiler:Later, he and the students have to in order to save his life. They succeed.]]
* {{Delinquent}}: [[spoiler:Is now hanging around with Terasaka and his friends.]]
* DemotedToExtra: He gets a few scenes after [[spoiler:joining Class-E]], but quickly falls into almost voiceless extra territory.
* TheDragon: To his handler Shiro [[spoiler:until being abandoned by him]].
* DynamicEntry: Is first introduced by walking straight through a wall, demolishing it and then calmly taking his seat.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When he is officially introduced, he crushed through the wall and saying that he was victorious against the wall because he was stronger. That shows his obsession with winning.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: The most obvious sign of his inhuman nature. At first they had multiple rings, but by his second arc they had mutated into two pupils instead.
* ExpositoryHairStyleChange: To demonstrate his increase in strength, a part of his hair and his tentacles become black. The number of tentacles on his head are reduced in favor of fewer but stronger ones.
** [[spoiler:The tentacles get WhipSword covers but only for one chapter.]]
** His hair becomes significantly shorter after [[spoiler: his HeelFaceTurn]], which he covers up with a large bandana.
* FirstNameBasis: He is also one of the students who is called by his first name.
* FreudianExcuse: The reason why he is so obsessed with winning and and having tentacles is that [[spoiler:his parents abandoned him after their company went bankrupt, and his schoolmates bullied him for being a loser. That's why he accepted Shiro's offer to gain power to become a winner.]]
* GadgeteerGenius: Demonstrates a knack for gadgetry [[spoiler:after losing the tentacles which were impairing his higher brain functions and joining the class for real.]]
* GeniusBruiser: Not at first, [[spoiler:but after he loses his tentacles, he shows a great deal of intelligence, as well as retaining excellent physical abilities]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:He officially joins the class for real in chapter 87, now being in Terasaka's group.]]
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: [[spoiler:Due to being abandoned by his real parents (and later Shiro) he has (to use a quote from ''Manga/MedakaBox'') an "abnormal need to be abnormal", which helped him withstand the painful experiments Shiro performed on him. Unfortunately his strength is also what could kill him -- the tentacles use a lot of energy and if he doesn't let go of them and his need to be special, he'll ''disintegrate''.]]
* KryptoniteFactor: The same rubbery material that harms Koro-sensei harms him.
* NewTransferStudent: In chapter 20, the politicians announced that two new transfer students would join the class. Itona is the second of the two, who joins the class in chapter 29.
* ParentalAbandonment:
** [[spoiler:After he failed to kill Koro-sensei a third time, his guardian Shiro abandons him in the end of chapter 84.]]
** [[spoiler:His real parents abandoned him before he was discovered by Shiro due to their cellphone parts business going bankrupt.]]
* PerpetualFrowner: Of the focused and serious variety. He only shows the slightest hint of a smile once, and it may have been a trick of the camera angle.
* PrehensileHair: Made of tentacles.
* PutOnABus: Happens frequently to him, since his personality is unstable and Shiro tutors him at home.
* TheRival: To ''everyone'' in the class [[spoiler:until his HeelFaceTurn]].
* {{Samurai}}: In Ritsu's flashback, when both of them trained together, he was wearing a samurai armor and used a katana. He has never been seen like that again.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: A white, furry muffler. Sometimes he wears it into battle, sometimes he doesn't. [[spoiler:After joining the class, he ditches the scarf in favor of a bandana.]]
* SmugSuper: He looks down on the other students because he ''is'' stronger than them, as he is the only one who can fight Koro-sensei one-on-one. He gets better.
* ThereWasADoor: His classmates' reaction when he was introduced. He thinks otherwise about it.
-->'''Itona:''' "I... am victorious. I have proven myself to be stronger than this classroom's walls."
* ThousandYardStare: His default expression.
* {{Tykebomb}}: A young boy who has powers similar to Koro-sensei transfers into the class in order to kill Koro-sensei. His handler also follows him in because he's rather AxCrazy.
* UnstoppableRage: It's implied that he's uncontrollable if he goes berserk, so Shiro has to stop him before it happens.
* WalkingSpoiler: He's a major puzzle piece in the mystery part of the storyline. [[spoiler:Now that he has joined the class, he's really a WalkingSpoiler]].
* WeaksauceWeakness: He shared Koro-sensei's weaknesses, [[spoiler:including water]].
* YouHaveFailedMe: [[spoiler:Shiro abandons him when he realizes he'll never defeat Koro-Sensei even with tentacles that use ''three nuclear powerplants worth of energy''. He goes as far as to use Itona as "bait" to keep Koro-sensei in one place and distracted while his team fires at them.]]

!!Akari Yukimura
->'''Voiced by:''' [[spoiler: Creator/AyaSuzaki]]

->''"He never caught on...even until the bitter end."''

The true identity of [[spoiler: Kaede Kayano]] and the younger sister of Aguri Yukimura. Used to be a child actress who went by the stage name of Haruna Mase before transferring into Kunugigaoka Middle school for the express purpose of [[spoiler: avenging her sister, who supposedly died at the hands of Koro-Sensei]]. To do this, she intentionally threw herself into Class 3-E at the very beginning of the year by trashing several of the Chairman's personal items.

Like Koro-sensei and Itona, she harbors a pair of tentacles that she carefully keeps hidden throughout the entire year until the right opportunity.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Kayano:

* ArcVillain: In chapters 128-132.
* BerserkButton:
** Everything about Koro-sensei pisses her off since he is the supposed killer of her older sister, as revealed in chapter 129.
** While her anger or rather "fixation" towards big boobs happens to mirror Koro-sensei and Itona, she just coincidentally happened to be jealous of her sister's large breasts.
* CombatTentacles: In Chapter 128, two long tentacles pop out from the back of her nape.
* {{Determinator}}: According to Itona, having tentacles is an agonizing experience for any normal human. Akari was able to wear them for a full year without even hinting about how much pain she was in. In chapter 131, he guesses that this was only possible because she never actually ''used'' the tentacles during that year. Once she does, her mind starts eroding fast.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Chapters 128 and 129, when [[spoiler: she drops her facade as Kaede Kayano.]]
* GenreSavvy: [[spoiler:When she transferred to class 3-E, she picked Nagisa as the "protagonist", so she can hide her bloodlust under his shadow.]]
* HiddenDepths: The best hidden of everyone in class E, beyond even Nagisa.
** Chapter 128 changes practically everything we thought we knew about her. She has the strongest will of everyone in Class E, able to go to school their and act no different than if it were a normal class, despite the bullying. These depths become all the deeper in chapter 129 when its revealed that she is one of the worlds best actresses and has had the tentacles, which nearly drove Itona insane, for nearly a year yet still showed no outward signs.
** It actually goes further, as she was pretending to be a normal junior high school student exiled to Class E while being an actual assassin (apparently) the whole time. Even Nagisa, unassuming as he may be, was willing to use his killing intent to discourage bullying by other students. [[spoiler: Kayano, on the other hand, was able to behave exactly like a "normal" person in her situation would, without giving a hint that she was capable of anything remotely on the level of what she demonstrated in Chapter 128.]]
* ItsPersonal: Unlike the other students, she has a personal reason to kill Koro-sensei. [[spoiler: To avenge her dead sister, Aguri Yukimura.]]
* MasterActor: She's actually a professional and prodigal actress, renowned for her skill to play any kind of role flawlessly. Due to this, she was able to fool Class E's students and staff during the school year. All of them believed the fake identity she created.
* PlayingWithFire: She can set her tentacles on fire when her body overheats.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Once she reveals her tentacles and her true identity, her eyes turn red.
* RevengeBeforeReason: She states she doesn't care what she has to do, who she gets involved or even if she dies, the only thing she wants to do is [[spoiler: take revenge for her sister, who was killed by Koro-sensei.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Her existence is one of the biggest twists in the entire series.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler: She wants to kill Koro-sensei because she blames him for the death of her sister.]]

Despite being part of the class comprised of the school's "worst", each student has a characteristic which defines him/her and becomes his/her weapon. As the series progresses, they become better in assassination, P.E. ''and'' studying.

[[folder:Class 3-E - General]]

!!!General tropes associated with Class 3-E:
* AllMenArePerverts: While Okajima is the most blatant example, most of the other boys are not really any better. In chapter 88, they start an operation to create the perfect camera-equipped mini-tank (which was originally meant to kill Koro-sensei) to peek under the girls' skirts. [[SeriousBusiness They do so with serious faces while operating in a professional manner]].
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: As a byproduct of a school system that keeps their class in the lowest 5% in order to raise up the other 95% of the school. Of course, this only applies to their grades and popularity, [[BullyingADragon not their ability to kill]].
* AssassinsAreAlwaysBetrayed: The fact that nobody got hurt when [[spoiler:Shiro blew up a pool that most of Class-E was swimming in]] required a good deal of luck. The intention may not have been to hurt them, but it was clearly negligent of their safety.
* BadAss: All the teachers and students when comparing to normal people.
* BadassBookworm: While the whole premise behind the creation of Class-E may imply that the students in it are BookDumb, it's revealed that the students are pretty good at studying, but they're simply not ''good enough'' to achieve the grades that would keep them out of 3E. In the Final Exam arc, [[spoiler:they managed to beat Class-A in number of top spots for individual subjects secured. Together with Class A, they completely monopolized the Top 50.]]
* BadassCrew: Mess with one of them, and the whole class and their teacher(s) will come after you. Such moments include ganging up against two students who bullied Maehara, and [[spoiler:working together to defeat Class A in the pole match, in order to stop Asano from telling the school that Isogai has been breaking the school rules by having a part-time job.]]
* BerserkButton: When Bitch-sensei calls Class-E the "Misfits of the school" and tells them that studying would be meaningless, she gets pelted with school supplies by the whole class.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Generally speaking, the students (especially Nagisa and Karasuma) will play the straight man to Koro-sensei's crazy antics. It's often lampshaded by the students, who will occasionally mention wanting to "tsukkomi" in response to whatever ludicrous situation they've just been presented with.
* BookDumb: It's not that they're dumb or bad at school. They just happened to be the 5% of students who have the lowest grades in an extremely competitive, highly-ranked school, while the other 95% are extremely motivated not to become like them. The other students treat them as dumb people.
* CharacterTitle: The whole class is part of the Assassination Classroom.
* ChildSoldiers: A variation, in that they're training to be assassins rather than traditional soldiers. Their teachers are trying to ensure they can have a normal life in addition to their training.
* CodeName: Chapter 89 deals with all students having to refer to each other by [[EmbarrassingNickname embarrassing code names]] for the entire day.
** Sugino - "Baseball Freak".
** Sugaya - "[[ArtAttacker Artsy Bean Pole]]".
** Isogai - "[[SocialClimber Poor]] Commitee Member".
** Hayami - "{{Tsundere}} [[ColdSniper Sniper]]".
** Maehara - "[[TheCasanova Womanizing Bastard Guy]]".
** Mimura - "Mushroom Director".
** Kurahashi - "Flouncy [[NatureLover Stagbeetle]]".
** Yoshida - "Home Base".
** Muramatsu - "[[RealMenCanCook Loofah]]".
** [[spoiler:Itona]] - "[[GadgeteerGenius Rolling Riser]]".
** Terasaka - "Pseudo-Takaoka".
** Okuda - "[[MasterPoisoner Poison]] [[{{Meganekko}} Glasses]]".
** Kayano - "[[ACupAngst Forever 0]]".
** Kataoka - "[[ClassRepresentative Stern Lecture]]".
** Nakamura - "Gal English".
** Nagisa - "[[DudeLooksLikeALady Gender]]".
** Okamura - "[[AllMenArePerverts End of Perversion]]".
** Fuwa - "[[{{Otaku}} This Manga is Awesome!!]]".
** Karma - "Half of Middle 2" ([[MrImagination Semi-Chuunibyou]]).
** Chiba - "[[BlindingBangs Adult Game Protagonist]]".
** Kimura - "Justice". [[spoiler:This actually ''is'' his real name.]]
** Yada - "Ponytail and [[BuxomIsBetter Breasts]]".
** Okano - "[[SheFu Amazing Monkey]]".
** Karasuma-sensei - "[[SternTeacher Straight Lace]]".
** Koro-sensei names himself "The Imperial Prince of the Eternal Wind". Of course, since it is the only AwesomeMcCoolname, the outraged class decide to call him "Stupid Pervert Chicken Octopus" instead.
* DamselInDistress[=/=]DistressedDude: [[spoiler:Happens to the class in the middle of the God of Death arc]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Due to the series's LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters issue and the fact that Nagisa, Kayano and Karma tend to get the most focus, the majority of the students don't stand out that much. Individual students do get [[ADayInTheLimelight focus chapters]] every now and then.
* DemotedToExtra:
** Happens a lot during the Assassination Island arc. First, ten students [[spoiler:get poisoned, so two of the remaining students stay behind to tend to them]], leaving a total of 15 students for the infiltration of the Fukuma Palace Hotel. Koro-sensei suffers from DeusExitMachina, sidelining from most of the action. Once inside the hotel, Bitch-sensei splits off from the group to distract the reception guards, and Karasuma-sensei is demoted to being TheLoad due being exposed to an assassin's knockout gas.
** The ten sick students are Okajima, Mimura, Maehara, Sugino, Hazama, Kurahashi, Nakamura, Hara, Kanzaki and Muramatsu. The two nurse students who stay with them are Okuda and Takebayashi. That means the 15 attack students are Nagisa, Karma, Kayano, Chiba, Hayami, Terasaka, Yoshida, Sugaya, Fuwa, Isogai, Kataoka, Okano, Yada, Kimura and Ritsu.
** The class gets demoted to extra in the middle of the God of Death arc after [[spoiler: they are captured and held hostage by the God of Death]].
* DownplayedTrope: Generally speaking, the students of class E tend to have more subtle characterization that most shounen leads, possessing a few unique traits that stand out strongly. This doesn't mean that their characters are simplistic. Like real people, they merely exhibit various tropes in a way that is weaker than normal in fiction.
* EverybodyHatesMath: Math is the most common weak subject in the class, with eight people listing it as their weak point. There are also other weak subjects. Six people are bad in Japanese, four people in Science, four people in English, three people in social studies, and one person is bad in multiple subjects [[ShoutOut like]] ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''[[note]]The ''Naruto'' person is counted by his own and is not included with the students who are bad in only one particular subject[[/note]]. [[{{Pun}} Doing the math]], one particular student lacks any weak subject, presumably Ritsu, being an AI.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: After you've been drafted to assassinate a mach 20-moving, super-teaching eldritch smiley, your surprise may become somewhat miscalibrated. For example, after seeing someone casually walk straight through a wall, you may think "[[ThereWasADoor Use the damn door!]]" instead of "How did he do that!?" Granted, they ''expected'' an eccentric transfer student after they heard what Ritsu, the other "eccentric" transfer student, had to say about him.
* InformedFlaw: Class-E is supposedly composed of the high school's worst students, but plenty of them seem reasonably intelligent.
** It's revealed that they're the lower 5% of a school that is one of the most prestigious in the country. Their Class-E status is due to them being smart enough pass, but not enough to excel. Moreover, it's shown that some of the students are extremely skilled in some subjects, but very weak in others (Okuda is very skilled in both math and science, but has failing grades in Japanese).
** Then, there are students like Karma and Isogai, who were placed in Class-E as a disciplinary action. And it's revealed that at least three students (Kataoka, Hayami and Chiba) who spent [[TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity so much time helping other students]] that their grades dramatically slipped.
** On top of that, later chapters show that the teaching methods used by the instructors in the main building are geared towards students who are able to learn via memorization and note-taking, while ignoring any other of the veritable cornucopia of learning styles that exist. Koro-sensei, who is willing to tailor his teaching methods to capitalize on various students' strengths, weaknesses, and interests, gets far better results (though being able to do everything at Mach 20 tends to help).
* LastNameBasis: Everyone is called by their last names, with the exception of Nagisa, Karma, Ritsu and Itona.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: At the beginning of the series, we have 26 students and their homeroom teacher. Later on, two new teachers and two new transfer students join them. Because of this, it's really hard to focus on one of them for a period of time, and even some of the characters like Karma who gets more screentime than others don't appear frequently.
* MuggingTheMonster:
** Whenever one of the regular students try to bully someone from Class E it never ends well for them. They're lucky if they only end up fleeing in fear for their lives.
** Not just fellow students at the school. Do not try picking on the seemingly "weak" tourists simply because you're bored delinquents out to have a bit of fun.
* MundaneUtility: Their assassination skills are very useful in the matsuri games.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous[=/=]ShoutOutThemeNaming: Most of the students are named after the titular [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_ronin Forty-seven Ronin]]. However, many of the characters have altered names, either in how they are read or what kanji are used to write them. This may be a further reference to the oldest fictional versions of the story, which were written in a time when plays depicting current events were censored. To avoid that, the plays based on the story used different names and a different time period.
* NightmareFace: Sometimes, the students mimic Koro-sensei's regular face whenever he and they have a "sinister" plan in store for somebody.
* {{Ninja}}: Thanks to their training, they possess ninja-like stealth techniques like "Nanba" and can climb up sheer cliffs with ease.
* NoPronunciationGuide: Many characters had the kanji for their names released without the correct reading specified for a long while. As of the fifth volume all readings are confirmed, but some websites still list them by the translator's early guesses.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: The students come to this decision after [[spoiler:Itona almost kills Koro-sensei]], as they feel it's not "right" for a stranger to be allowed to kill their teacher.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The fate of the world rests in the hands of a classroom full of quirkly, academically inferior middle school students.
* ShipperOnDeck: ''Everyone in the class'' for Karasuma-sensei and Bitch-sensei.
* ShipTease: Some of the interactions between the students can be seen as this. This becomes more clear with [[ShipperOnDeck Koro-sensei's "Couple Setup" plan]], who pairs them (and the other teachers) in boy-girl groups in a test of courage, based on their interactions. The known pseudo couples are:
** Nagisa/Kayano: They interact with each other the most and Kayano is implied to have feelings for him.
** Karma/Okuda: Karma has openly stated that he is attracted to her, mostly because of her talents in making medicines, poisons and other chemical concoctions.
** Sugino/Kanzaki: It is known that Sugino has a crush on Kanzaki though his plans to impress her tend to fail.
** Chiba/Hayami: They are the best marksmen and appear together most of the time, especially in the Assassination Island arc. They also celebrate their victory against Gastro by crossing their arms together.
** Sugaya/Nakamura: It is not known why Koro-sensei paired them.
** Maehara/Okano: Okano gives him her towel when he was dumped by Tsuchiya and kicked by Seo. [[spoiler:Also very strongly hinted at in a series of SCRAP puzzles released in volumes 5-8.]]
** Okajima/Kurahashi: Also unknown, but both have ADayInTheLimelight in the same chapter.
** The delinquent group of [[ThreesomeSubtext Terasaka, Muramatsu and Hazama]].
** Karasuma-sensei/Bitch-sensei: The only adults besides Koro-sensei. Notable for having to largest amount of ''actual'' subtext between them. This becomes so obvious, that the [[ShipperOnDeck whole class starts to make a plan to help Bitch-sensei confess]].
* SlobsVersusSnobs: The slobs to Class 3-A's snobs.
* SpotlightStealingSquad:
** Nagisa, Kayano and Karma are the students who get more panels/screentime and appear in promotional materials much more often than their classmates -- the three are occasionally accompanied by Sugino and Okuda. However, Nagisa and especially Kayano don't stand out that much when someone else gets the focus, and Karma disappears from time to time. The author gives every student ADayInTheLimelight, but at least one of the three will appear in a prominent way.
** Both Karasuma and Irina, become this in the middle of the God of Death arc.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Anyone who isn't Korosensei is off-limits to them, though it's not like they want to kill anyone else in particular.
* TookALevelInBadass: As a result of the assassination training they have to undergo, ''all'' the students have taken ''some'' levels in badass. And they won't stop.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: They are tasked with the mission to kill their own teacher and instead of displaying fear or hesitance, they show a great enthusiasm in planning how to kill him. Even more disturbing in that even after they've bonded with said teacher and developed affection for him, it didn't slow them down a bit. Granted, the fact that their target is not human may be a factor in this behavior, but still, as Karasuma had said, this is not normal:
-->''"A group of junior high students are joyfully discussing an assassination. If you look at it normally, this is the pinnacle of madness."''
* TrueCompanions: It took awhile but the whole class makes up a tightly knit BadassCrew. They really care about each other and get along well, and will endure great lengths to protect or avenge their companions.
* UnconventionalLearningExperience: Invoked by Koro-sensei. His wish is for the assassination to give the students an opportunity to apply their knowledge, so they study things they otherwise wouldn't and learn the material better.

->''"Let's have an assassination that will make people smile and puff out their chests with pride. Each and every one of you can do that. You are talented assassins with hidden strength. That is advice from your sensei, as a target."''

The homeroom teacher for class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, and the main {{antihero}} of Assassination Classroom. He is responsible for carving out a large chunk of the moon to make it a permanent crescent moon, and plans to destroy the earth after teaching class 3-E for a year.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Koro-sensei:

* AffablyEvil: For a man (for a given value of "man") who wants to destroy the world, Koro-sensei doesn't act like it.
* ArmorPiercingSlap: In chapter 95, [[spoiler:he slaps the entire class after the students injured an old man when they were running and jumping from roof to roof. Karasuma does not report his action and pretends that nothing happened]].
* {{Badass}}: Pretty much the most badass character in the series.
* BadassTeacher: An extremely competent and overprotective teacher, who uses his inhuman abilities to teach and protect them. As noted under BerserkButton, trying to harm his students is an unwise move.
* BashBrothers: Together with Karasuma-sensei in the tag game.
--> "The strongest creature and the strongest human. [[ItMakesSenseInContext They're coming to attack us to give us more homework]]!!"
* BerserkButton: Try and harm his students at your own risk.
* BigEater: combined with SweetTooth. Or anything junk-foody.
* BigGood[=/=]BigBad: Is the former to the students of Class 3-E. To everyone else (including the students), he's the latter.
* BizarreAlienBiology: Yes. Well, ish. He's born on Earth, he just doesn't look like it. From his [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience color-changing face]] to his [[SwissArmyAppendage multi-purpose tentacles]], with more quirks being revealed over time.
* BlitheSpirit: For a creature who intends to destroy the world, Koro-sensei is an expert in making people change their ways for the better. Karma, Irina and "Red Eye" are all examples of this charisma and wisdom Koro-sensei possesses, along with his interactions with all of Class-E.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Moon-killing, manga-drawing, supersonic, perverted, but really good teacher, anybody?
* TheChessmaster: He's an extremely skilled strategist.
** For example, the tag game ''Robbers and Cops'' he plays with Karasuma and the students. He and Karasuma-sensei are the cops and have to tag the class within an hour, but Koro-sensei has the given handicap to be in "jail" until the last minute. The students underestimate Karasuma-sensei's extreme skills, and they realize that Koro-sensei's handicap is even his advantage, since nobody can tag out the "arrested" students as long he's in the "jail".
** Even though Koro-sensei is easily tricked, he uses the moments where he's one-upped by his students to provide them with helpful advice. He teaches them how to evade Karasuma when they get out, implying that he might have been falling for their tricks intentionally in order to give them more opportunities to gain experience and put his advice into action.
* ChivalrousPervert: He doesn't hide the fact that he loves women with big boobs, but he also defends Irina from a group of perverts who were harassing her and is an all around good person--aside from that destroying the world issue.
* ClarkKenting: When he wants to go out in public, he sticks a fake nose on his face and puts on a wig. Amazingly, it works.
* ColorCodedEmotions: Physically so. Since Koro-sensei is almost always smiling, his emotions are read by his face's coloration and color pattern.
** Yellow[=/=]Green: Normal
** Yellow with blushing cheeks: Very happy (Usually, but not always, due to breasts)
** Green and yellow stripes: Mocking contempt
** Dark purple with X shape: Wrong answer face
** Orange with circle shape: Correct answer face (Two circles for perfect scores)
** Light blue: Sadness
** Dark blue: Shock[=/=]fear
** Red-orange: Angry
** Pitch black: Extremely angry
** Pink: Drowsy/relaxed
** White: Poker face[=/=]bewildered
* CombatTentacles: Comes with being octopoidally-shaped.
* CrazyPrepared: Dear Lord, but is he? The [[{{Doorstopper}} guidebooks]] he produces are just one (big) example.
* DefaceOfTheMoon: Blew most of it up prior to the story's beginning.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: He isn't allowed to injure any of the students or staff, according to the agreement he made to be allowed to teach class 3-E. Never mind the human students, even [[spoiler: Itona]] wouldn't stand a chance against him if he were willing and able to retaliate.
* DreadfulMusician: Weakness #27 -- He's tone deaf. His dreadful singing is powerful enough to shatter concrete.
* EldritchAbomination: Averted. Even though Koro-sensei looks like a freaky alien octopus, he states that he was born and raised on earth. As what, human, animal, vegetable, or mineral, is anyone's guess.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Koro-sensei is not pleased when one of his students' collaborative attempt at killing him almost injures one of their own.
* ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask: When people try to kill Koro-sensei he's usually doing other things, such as meticulously trimming his attackers' eyebrows or giving a fighter jet a polish in mid-air.
* ExplainingYourPowersToTheEnemy: Subverted. When he bothers to say anything at all, he only tells the basics, and often leaves out key details, like the fact that his mucus protects him from his weakness to water.
* ExtremeOmnivore: Aside from his habit of flying around the world to eat any food he wants, he has been seen eating pens, knives, sodium hydroxide, aqua regia, plastic explosives...
* FlashStep: Koro-Sensei has a top speed of Mach 20. During one assassination attempt, he easily dodges the attacker while meticulously trimming his attacker's eyebrows. When attacked by state of the art fighter jets, he gives them a mid-air waxing. When attacked by knife armed students, he disarms all of them, then replaces the knives with tulips without them noticing.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: Debatable, but the first chapter makes it clear that his current appearance is not his true form. Surprisingly, sans tentacles, his shadowy true form seems human-like.
* FriendlyEnemy: To his students and his co-workers.
* GadgeteerGenius: Has extensive skill and knowledge with machines and electronics. He was able to [[spoiler: majorly upgrade Ritsu's capabilities for a relatively cheap sum of money]] and also built a custom motorcycle with a frame made of wood.
* GameFace: Pitch Black: Extreme Anger.
* GeniusBruiser: Impossible to defeat in single combat, and teaches every single subject at once without being challenged in any way.
* GoneHorriblyWrong: A super-powerful artificial creature, created to be the world's savior, now on course to destroy it in less than a year.
* GuileHero: For all his power, he almost always solves problems with trickery rather than brute force alone, often to the effect of bettering his opponents.
* HealingFactor: Koro-Sensei, amongst other abilities, has the power of regeneration. Even if he gets hit with the Applied Phlebotinum weapons, unless his body is almost completely destroyed, he'll recover in seconds.
* HelpingWouldBeKillStealing: Though he may guide and coordinate them, he lets his students handle problems on their own whenever they're capable of it, which they usually are.
* HiroshimaAsAUnitOfMeasure: Every few chapters Koro-sensei is given a character introduction that includes one of these comparing to his ability to travel at mach 20. Some are fairly sensible ([[LudicrousPrecision 651.241]] times Usain Bolt's 100 meter dash speed) while others are ridiculous (133,333.33 times faster than the speed of falling sakura petals).
* IllKillYou: Koro-sensei threatens to kill the families of Class-E if any of them endanger one another during an assassination attempt, and to kill the entire class if they don't pass a test with flying colors. The latter turned out to be a bluff, and probably the former too.
* InformedAttribute: He is an evil monster who intends to destroy the world, and only hasn't done so yet because it would be boring... Or so the narrative tells us. He actually acts in a way that has been compared to Buddha on this site, helping everyone around him improve themselves. The dissonance is so extreme it's hard to imagine that it's not {{Foreshadowing}} some kind of reveal.
* {{Irony}}: He is frequently described and compared with an octopus, but [[spoiler:he cannot swim]].
* {{Invisibility}}: A rarely used ability, and his clothes and anything he's carrying will still be visible. He makes himself transparent by changing the color of his skin to match his surroundings like a chameleon.
* InvoluntaryShapeshifter: Koro-sensei transformed several times after drinking hazardous chemicals.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Koro-sensei wants to destroy the world and constantly teases his students for not being able to kill him, yet he always ensures that his students get good grades and become successful.
* [[KaleidoscopeEyes Kaleidoscope Face]]: See ColorCodedEmotions above.
* KiAttack: Shown in chapter 84. [[spoiler:What's interesting is that ''he initially didn't know he could do that''; he learned it during the Island arc]].
* KryptoniteFactor: A rubbery material that is not described beyond being "special" and able to disrupt his cells on contact. It can be fashioned into knives, BB pellets, or clothes, and is apparently available in abundance.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: He casually blows or slices off his own tentacles, sometimes several at once. Supposedly this causes emotional disturbance that slows him down for a while afterwards, but that's still way less of a response than such injuries warrant. Of course, he can regrow his tentacles after a few seconds.
* TheMatchmaker: A chapter has Koro-sensei pairing up the students into boy/girl pairs of his choosing to explore a cave in a poor attempt to cause some romantic tension between them. He even refers to the scheme as ''Couple Setup.'' Somewhat subverted in that he doesn't actually want them to get together as much as he wants juicy romantic gossip that he could poke fun at them for and write a novel about later.
* MeaningfulName[=/=]PunnyName: Due to a [[NoNameGiven lack of a name]] at the beginning of the series, Kayano came up with Koro-sensei as a pun with the Japanese words "korosenai" and "sensei" ("unkillable teacher").
* MundaneUtility: This is practically the entire basis for his character. Koro-sensei boasts an enormous number of abilities and he uses nearly every single one of them to be a better teacher. Being able to fly at Mach 20; use your speed to visit different countries during lunch breaks in order to sample local cuisine. Able to create dozens of visual clones through sheer speed; use them to divide your attention to give every single student simultaneous one-on-one instruction. Able to regenerate from even severe injuries in a matter of seconds; use the ability to remove limbs to motivate your students to perform better on the next test...
* MysteriousPast: Why did he choose to become teacher of Class-E? Who is the woman to whom he made that promise? Where did he come from? What is he? These are just the first questions that come to mind.
** When the Chairman takes the time to see him personally, he drops a HUGE hint: [[spoiler:he says that Koro-sensei was created to save the world, but wound up becoming its greatest threat.]]
** Karasuma makes mention of another one: at one point in the past, Koro-sensei only had two legs and two arms. This was not the case in the flashback with the woman he made his promise to. In short, Koro-sensei might have once been Human. The students come to a similar conclusion by deducing that both Koro-sensei and Itona are artificial beings, with Itona being made after Koro-sensei.
** It's eventually revealed that the woman in the flashback [[spoiler: was Class E's previous teacher.]]
* NighInvulnerability: Is able to withstand fire from multiple high-caliber machine guns at once. Apparently, the only things that can seriously harm him are the special anti-sensei material, [[spoiler:and other beings similar to him, like Itona]].
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: This seems to a part of being a PsychologistTeacher.
* TheNoseKnows: He has an incredible sense of smell despite not having a proper nose.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: Averted, though it involves sudden acceleration rather than deceleration. Koro-sensei cannot accelerate as quickly as he normally would if he has to catch or carry a normal human being because their bodies couldn't handle the physical stress.
* OmnicidalManiac: He plans to blow up the Earth, along with everyone living on it.
* OneHeadTaller: He is much taller than regular humans.
* OnlyAFleshWound: Losing limbs may affect his speed, but having [[spoiler:two gaping holes shot through his head seems to have no effect on his ability to think at all.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When this goofy, fun-loving character becomes angry and breaks out his GameFace, prepare for this lighthearted manga to turn very serious, very quickly. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Koro-sensei after his first [[spoiler: battle with Itona]]: He turns embarrassed after one of his rare bursts of anger, lamenting that it ruins his reputation as a gag character.
* ThePromise: Koro-sensei is teaching the students in his class as a promise he made to someone. As he once put it, teaching all of his students seriously is much more important to him than the end of the world.
* PsychologistTeacher: Goes to extreme lengths to make sure that his students are able to resolve their own personal problems.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Koro-sensei doesn't seem like this at first, but is soon revealed to be one.
* SelfDuplication: He can move so fast he can make selectively tangible afterimages. Chapter 12 shows him making one for every student in the class to personally focus on their weak subjects. He even leaves one outside to rest from all that work.
* ShipperOnDeck: He, and the rest of Class 3-E, are also this for Karasuma/Irina.
* SignatureLaugh: Nurufufufu.
* SlasherSmile: His GameFace color: [[http://l.mfcdn.net/store/manga/10718/01-001.0/compressed/m039.jpg Pitch Black]].
* SubmissiveBadass: Played for laughs. One of his weaknesses is that he is subservient to his superiors, and whenever Karasuma orders him to go away, he meekly and mopingly obeys.
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:His ultimate defense form makes him completely invulnerable.]] Subverted though, [[spoiler:since he is also immobile in this form for 24 hours, and he is afraid that somebody could send him with a rocket into outer space (though, he admits that would be unrealistic, since sending him to the space would be too long)]]. This gives his enemies the opportunity to kill him with a plan, and he can't do nothing to avoid it.
* SuperSpeed: Koro-sensei, as previously mentioned, can move at Mach 20. He eats shaved ice he personally gathers from the North Pole. He eats Chinese food on his lunch break... in China.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In chapter 43.
-->'''Koro-sensei:''' "...I mean, I just don't really feel like [[spoiler:swimming]]. And it's not like [[spoiler:my tentacles get all bloated underwater and I can't move]] or anything."
* SweetTooth: Mentioned above.
* TerribleArtist: One of his minor weaknesses, he can only do simple art. And he still challenges Sugaya, the best artist in class, to making henna tattoos.
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: [[spoiler:It hasn't happened yet, but in Chapter 32 there's a panel that implies this will happen to Koro-sensei when he is killed.]]
* VillainProtagonist: He destroyed the moon and plans to destroy the Earth in a year. Until then, he's going to fulfill a promise to be a teacher. If he's going to be a teacher, he is going to do it perfectly. As such, based on what we know, the only reason people targeting him can be considered bad guys is because they don't always care about not putting class 3E in danger.
* WeaksauceWeakness:
** Weak to water. Specifically, his body is sponge-like. Even a day with high humidity causes him to swell up comically. If he actually found himself immersed in water it would certainly get much worse and slow him down significantly. [[spoiler: The mucus his skin releases can protect him from it, but it can be depleted]].
** The Anti-Koro Sensei weapons are basically his Kryptonite, which is notable as it's completely harmless to normal humans.

->''"As part of the same group entrusted with the mission of saving the Earth, I think of you all as fellow professionals. As professionals, I believe the barest minimum you should receive as compensation is the guarantee of a normal middle school life."''

An agent sent from Japan's Ministry of Defense to supervise Koro-sensei. In Kunugigaoka Junior High School, he was admitted as an assistant teacher for Phys. Ed. in class 3-E.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Karasuma:

* TheAce: Incredibly skilled in variety of fields...though that amounts to nothing when you take into account that he's against a super-sonic, unkillable octopus. This is exemplified in chapter 106.
* AmazonChaser: His ideal 'type' are women with muscular bodies that are perfectly suited for battle. Though it's suspect if he realized they were asking about his ideal ''romantic'' type. Either way, it sucks for Bitch-sensei.
* Badass: He's in an entirely different league from any other human character.
* BadassInANiceSuit: It's practically a trademark.
* BadassTeacher: One of the reasons why he's respected by his students. He's very protective of the Class-E students, and will not stand for anyone physically hurting them.
* BashBrothers: Together with Koro-sensei in the tag game.
--> "The strongest creature and the strongest human. [[ItMakesSenseInContext They're coming to attack us to give us more homework]]!!"
* BloodKnight: Whenever he spars with his students, and even more during the freerunning cops and robbers game, he really enjoys himself. He also can't help himself when going up against the God of Death in chapter 106.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: In chapter 106 he stops an iron beam and grabs a crossbow bolt '''with one hand each.'''
* GroinAttack: He finds an opening for a second and punches [[spoiler:the God of Death]] in the groin.
* HiddenDepths: The most serious and straight-laced character in the series. And yet Korosensei reveals that the main source of his inhuman strength is [[spoiler: "the deep rage hidden in his heart"]].
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:Decides that the lives of the students are worth more than a chance to kill Koro-sensei and proceeds to ''challenge the [[TheDreaded God of Death]]'']].
* HotTeacher: Oh, boy. Just ask the Class E's female students.
* IgnoreTheFanservice: Poor Bitch-sensei. And sometimes, he even scolds her for being too hot.
* IndirectKiss: Bitch-sensei does this with his napkin. [[ObliviousToLove Which he mistakes for a being new assassination technique.]]
* KnifeNut: Although not restricted to knives (or nuttiness), he's good with them and training others to use them.
* NiceGuy: Comes across as this. However sternly and stoically he acts, he does ultimately care a lot for others and will go all out for them...and it's very obvious to all concerned.
* NotSoStoic: He tries so hard to maintain a professional demeanor, but considering the insanity of the situation he finds himself in, he can hardly go five minutes without getting visibly angry.
* ObliviousToLove: Poor Bitch-sensei. His first weakness is being "super dense". [[spoiler:Subverted when it's revealed he knew all along, but just doesn't return her feelings.]]
* OnlySaneMan: In comparison to other teachers, most of his students, and his own (shady) bosses? Oh, yes.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Karasuma cares just as much for making sure the Class-E students can overcome the chairman's system as he does keeping them healthy and safe while making sure they can stop Koro-sensei from destroying the world.
* ShounenHair: It actually makes him looking badass at first sight.
* SlasherSmile: Does this a couple of times in battles.
* SternTeacher: Very much. But, the pupils actually like him for it, even if they acknowledge it at the same time.
* WasTooHardOnHer: [[spoiler:Eventually realizes that his treatment of Irina is too harsh, and promptly apologizes for it.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShizukaIto (Japanese), Martha Harms (English)

An assassin who was sent to class 3-E to kill Koro-sensei. She teaches English and infiltration assassination.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Irina:

* ActionFashionista: Very fashion-conscious, teaches English with ''SexAndTheCity'' and takes every opportunity to dress-up she can...but is also a scarily efficient assassin. That's most of the boxes ticked, then.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Her short-tempered ComicRelief nature can make you forget she's a proficient killer. [[spoiler:She actually employs this in chapter 104 against Team B.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Fashion-obsessed apparent airhead. Who can teach multiple languages and interpersonal interaction surprisingly well as a ''result'' of her training as an ''assassin''.
* ButtMonkey: Part of her comedy value. She's quickly learned there are a select few people her usually reliable skills aren't that useful against. Doesn't stop her trying (and failing), though. [[spoiler: Henna tattoos of total embarrassment may be involved on occasion...]]
* ChildSoldiers: Made her first kill when she was 12, which is even younger than her current students are.
* CripplingOverspecialization: She was taught seduction and infiltration techniques that are second to none, but at the expense of being sub par in combat techniques. As a result, she's at a major disadvantage when she's found out.
* CulturedBadass: Her language and communication skills, as well as being able to play piano beautifully, makes her this.
* CunningLinguist: As a globally-active infiltration assassin, she speaks many languages, and is able to get close to almost anyone through her wits and charm. During the Hotel arc, she easily distracts an entire room full of guards to allow the students to proceed.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: First implied when she tells the students that they were lucky to be born in a peaceful country. It's later revealed that her country had an ethnic war and her parents were killed by a soldier when she was 12. She killed the soldier with her father's gun to save herself, then hid the corpse with her in the cellar to wait for the enemy to leave, all while feeling the body going lukewarm next to her. Considering her age and heritage, it should be pretty obvious exactly [[UsefulNotes/TheYugoslavWars what conflict]] is being referenced here.
* DistractedByTheSexy: One of her specialties.
* TheDitz: If she wasn't an assassin, you'd wonder about her ability to survive.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Turns on the students, beats them, captures them and briefly joins the God of Death. She's forgiven within two chapters after some of the students convince Karasuma to give her a second chance.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname:
** Bitch-neesan, and later Bitch-sensei. Even the polite students use it freely.
** In the official English, subtitles use "Professor Bitch" while the manga avoids the swear word but preserves the pun by calling her Ms. Vitch.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: The other students' treatment of Class E at the assembly appalls even Bitch-sensei.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: The whole class knows that she is in love with [[spoiler: Karasuma-sensei]]. She doesn't deny it.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:Becomes a minion for The God of Death in chapter 103.]]
* FemmeFatale: She's done her utmost to cultivate this... and, is ''more'' than willing to pass the techniques along.
* ForcefulKiss: Plants a a 30-hit combo to Nagisa in order to get him to share Koro-sensei's weaknesses. She also does this to her other students, either as punishments or as rewards.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Her introduction for one. What Koro-sensei does to her is another.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: After [[spoiler:being stunned by the classes forgiveness for her brief FaceHeelTurn]], she starts dressing much more conservatively.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: She smokes during the first few chapters she appears in, but stop completely after her HeelFaceTurn.
* HairTriggerTemper: When she's frustrated, you know: she doesn't exactly hide it (unless from an actual target: then she does bottle it). Added to a set of [[BerserkButton Berserk Buttons]] of questioning either her sex-appeal, her competence or her dedication to killing a certain octopus...and, of course, calling her ''Bitch-sensei''.
* HeelFaceTurn: After Karasuma showed her how hard Koro-sensei works for his students, she decides to take her job as a teacher seriously.
* HiddenDepths:
** She’s well aware that a woman's beauty will not last for long and one should do everything she can to make herself shine as a woman.
** Her behavior sometimes comes off as childish and immature compared to the rest of the cast. The few students who get to know her well eventually realize that [[spoiler: she was never given the chance to fully mature because she was raised in a harsh environment with no peace of mind.]]
* HoneyPot: What she did before coming to this school.
* HotTeacher: Duh! Everyone acknowledges it.
* IndirectKiss: [[spoiler:To Karasuma-sensei with his napkin. Unfortunately, he doesn't get the reason behind it.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She initially doesn't care about or believe in the students, but as time passes she grows found of them and increasingly become disgusted by the school's system of degrading Class-E.
* MarshmallowHell: Irina tries to extract information on Koro-sensei's weaknesses by smothering Nagisa with her breasts. A couple non-Class-E students find themselves incredibly jealous of him.
* MsFanservice: And how.
** The students discover that she has the ability to make ''anything'' she wears incredibly erotic, even those belonging to conservative students such as Kanzaki.
** She often tries to invokes this tropes, but comically fails for most of the time.
* {{Omniglot}}: She speaks ten languages from around the world. Her method is to take lovers in each of the countries she visits, and learn from them.
* PluckyComicRelief: She's usually delegated to this role when she's not at the focus of an arc.
* SelfImposedChallenge: She overcomes challenges. Her win against her teacher Lovro (the challenge was an mock assassination on Karasuma) by using a wire trap (which Lorvo had never taught her) while using seduction (which she knew it wouldn't work against Karasuma) as an camouflage.
* {{Sensual Slav|s}}: A Serbian example.
* SmokingIsGlamorous: Initially has this, but she drops it rather quickly when Nagisa informs her about Koro-sensei's heightened sense of smell
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The English manga spells her name "Jelavitch" to make clear the pronunciation and the vitch/bitch pun.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Flashes just a ''bit'' too much flesh than she really should as a teacher, whenever possible.
** [[http://www.mangareader.net/assassination-classroom/58/10 Look at this swimsuit!]]
** It bites back, as [[spoiler:Karasuma-sensei being a conservative Japanese man is not attracted by her style]].
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A toward Karasuma.
* VillainBall: Though her initial plan to kill Koro-sensei was well thought out and executed, Irina ignored the critical detail of Koro-sensei [[AbnormalAmmo being hurt only by a specific kind of material]], [[NoOneCouldSurviveThat instead choosing to use live ammunition under the assumption no living creature could survive a barrage of lead]]. Suffice to say, the attempt fails, ''badly''.
* WeakButSkilled: She is more skilled in wits and trickery than in straight up combat.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: When [[spoiler: she betrays Class E to the God of Death]], she proves that familiarity with her can be just as dangerous.
* YoungerThanSheLooks: Chapter 19 reveals that she's only 20 years old.
