At one point he ended up in Lian Yu and ran afoul of Reiter, where Oliver Queen saved his life. John repaid that favor by restoring the soul of Oliver's friend Sara Lance. Two years later, John found himself working with Sara as he was pulled into the crazy world of the Legends as they called up his expertise to help them fight the time demon Mallus. However, when the Legends literally smashed through the temporal prison holding back Mallus in a HotBlooded attempt to put an end to the demon, [[IdiotBall they also ended up unleashing pretty much every other supernatural horror that was imprisoned alongside him]]. Despite his loner nature, Neron ''very much'' wanted John dead, and the Legends were in need of a mystical expert to lock the supernatural fugitives back up. Self preservation triumphed so he ''very'' reluctantly joined the team of misfits.

* BiTheWay: Confirmed by WordOfGod. Also in line with ''ComicBook/{{Hellblazer}}'', where John was one of the very first openly bisexual characters to head a comic. In the third episode, when faced with [[EvilCounterpart Papa Midnite]] having him [[DistressedDude tied up in zip-ties]], he helpfully tells the WitchDoctor that he [[FoeRomanceSubtext doesn't do zip-ties]] without [[CasualKink a safe word]]. In Season 3 of ''Legends'', he rather blatantly and immediately starts hitting on (the very taken) Leo Snart. Actually ends up having a quick shag with Sara in the same episode. Between seasons 3 and 4 he had a brief fling with Gary at the Time Bureau. In "[[Recap/LegendsOfTomorrowS4E7HellNoDolly Hell No, Dolly]]" we discover that he was in a serious relationship with a man. [[spoiler:Later on he [[BreakHisHeartToSaveHim tells him he never loved him to save him from being dragged to Hell]] with some disastrous consequences for the timeline.]]

** In "Hey World", upon learning that Ray's deal to let Neron posses him is conditional on the fact that Neron not kill Nate, Constantine immediately suggests to the Legends that they trick Neron into killing Nate, something with Sara flat-out balks at. [[spoiler: However after the Legends' original plan to defeat Neron fails, Nate has Constantine put a {{Glamour}} on him to disguise him as John so Neron will kill him thereby nullifying the deal and allowing John to permanently kill the demon once and for all.]]

* BreakoutCharacter: Constantine was a largely unknown DC character before this version of him appeared on screens, but his popularity immediately pole-vaulted to fan favorite status. With the cancellation of his show, both fans and the cast looked for a new home and found one by integrating him into the Arrowverse. Ever since this depiction of him, Constantine has been heavily featured in other media including ''Film/JusticeLeagueDark'' (with Creator/MattRyan reprising his role) as well as a part of the main cast of ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueAction''.

* DoomMagnet: Constantine's adventures often have huge body counts, despite his best efforts.

A loner to the bone, on very rare occasions he's willing to work with others for the greater good. [[DarkAndTroubledPast He has quite the checkered past to say the least]]: Shortly after forming his PunkRock band "Mucous Membrane", he got involved with a crew in Newcastle that ended with most of the crew dead while the soul of an innocent young girl, Astra Logue, was inadvertently damned to hell for all eternity.
