* DidNotSeeThatComing: In a good way. He figured Hajime's Synergist class was useless in a fight, until he saw Hajime use "Transmute" to hold a monster captive before finishing it off. This impresses him beyond measure.
* HeroicBuild: He fits the stereotypical image of a Knight.
* HoldTheLine: Subverted. In the manga, he is illustrated trying to hold the Behemoth at bay so the students can escape, but Kouki trying to come to his aid, and Hajime actually restraining Behemoth with "Transmute" allows everyone else to escape.
* IgnoredExpert: He was tasked by both Ishtar and the king to mentor and train the students in Aiko's class to be effective soldiers in the war with the demons, but his experience and wisdom is ignored in favor of political expediency in the matter of the "accidental" fireball that caused Hajime to be driven down to the depths of the Abyss. He knew that if left unattended, it would only get worse, not better, over time. If it was actually an accident, without proper counseling, the guilt would build until those that felt responsible cracked under the pressure and turned on humanity, feeling themselves completely beyond redemption [[spoiler:which actually happens as early as Volume 2 when one of the too-traumatized students listens to a demon promising to make him a "hero" if he killed Aiko-sensei]]. If it was deliberate, as it clearly was, then the one responsible needs to be found, and quickly, to be brought to justice and to prevent further sabotage. Because Kouki kicked up a fuss, Meld was forced to stop the investigation, and leave the students to their own devices.

* EntitledToHaveYou: To Shizuku. He insists she's "his," no matter how much she rebuffs him, and has the gall to get jealous if she shows affection to anyone else.
* HaremSeeker: He already has a wife, several concubines, and he's still looking for others, especially Shizuku. She is clearly ''not'' pleased with the attention.

A company of soldiers encountered by Hajime and the remnants of the Haulia tribe after emerging from Reisen Gorge.

Seeing Hajime unfazed only served to make their "offers" more and more despicable and depraved, rather than make them realize that maybe, just maybe, there's something seriously, dangerously wrong about the situation they're in.
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: They see Hajime, unscathed, ''walking out'' of Reisen Gorge, a place so dangerous it's commonly used as an execution ground, and which they are too scared to enter, yet they go out of their way to provoke him. There are thousands of reasons why this is suicidal in tactical and strategic terms.
* AHeroToHisHometown: They were given a hero's funeral in Hoeschle empire, despite their actions being anything but heroic.
* MuggingTheMonster: Sure, they're an army company, and Hajime's burdened with the then defenseless Haulia tribe, and Yue looks like a child, but before provoking Hajime, they should have considered that maybe there's a damn good reason he emerged from Reisen Gorge, unscathed.
* NoNameGiven: None of them is ever named.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: The moment they saw Hajime emerge from Reisen Gorge, the Haulia in tow, they immediately proclaimed their intent to rape all the female Haulia, and while "negotiating" with Hajime, their commander openly proclaimed his desire to rape Yue as well, while forcing Hajime to watch "as a free lesson to a brat who doesn't know how the world works." To the last man, they did not live long enough to regret their actions.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: They see Hajime walk out of Reisen Gorge, and immediately presume they've already won the fight with Hajime. They never paused to consider why he's emerging unscathed and is completely unfazed by their threats.
* TooDumbToLive: Really, provoking a guy who confidently walks ''out'' of an execution ground, unscathed?
* VillainsWantMercy: After the utter elimination of the rest of the company, the last man, who had dropped his weapon in a panic, begged, pleaded, and offered his complete surrender to Hajime if he'd be spared. Hajime only spared him long enough to get critical information regarding the rest of the tribe, who are all either killed or long gone into Imperial Slavery by that point, before killing him too.
* WouldHurtAChild: They see Yue cling to Hajime's arm, and immediately threaten to rape her, after cutting off Hajime's arms and legs so he's ForcedToWatch.
* WrongAssumption: They see Hajime with the Haulia and presume he's a simple slave-trader that they can bully around. They completely neglect the fact that they've seen him come out of Reisen Gorge, unharmed.

* MoralMyopia: He leads a group of "soldiers" who are little more than mindless raping, murdering thugs, responsible for genocide upon the Haulia, but upon seeing Shea, alive, in Hoeshcle castle, as Hajime's escort, while his soldiers listed under Imperial Solders and "Boss" are dead, drives him to a near apoplectic rage.
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: He's very loyal to the Hoeschle empire, and Garhard himself, regardless of their many, many sins.
* StupidEvil: He gathered together an army to lead a genocide against the Haulia, just so he could capture and enslave Shea [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil for his own exclusive use]]. This come back to bite his ass hard when Shea repaid his cruelty by single-handedly slaughtering his troops while he was ForcedToWatch as he was pinned into a wall.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: He sees Shea, alone, throw his men around like ragdolls, and he ''still'' believes she's nothing more than "a weak rabbitman" who his troops can beat with ease.

* EvilGloating: Hajime's training is just a bit ''too'' effective at training the Haulia to become killing machines, and he starts to sadistically gloat over Rejin of the Bear clan, after utterly annhiliating Rejin's squad, before preparing to sadistically slaughter what remains of the bear clan, in direct retaliation for untold ''years'' of abuse at their hands. Shea and Hajime both put a stop to it, not because of any mercy towards the Bear clan, but because neither Hajime nor Shea wanted the Haulia to become as depraved as Imperial Slavers. The fact that Hajime had a bit of CruelMercy to deliver unto Rejin is also a factor.
* KillerRabbit: By the time Hajime finishes training them, the Haulia clan is a force to be reckoned with, and he is no exception, and the Haulia are all rabbit-people.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Because he and his clan had the unmitigated gall to ''raise Shea kindly'' instead of letting her be executed as a baby, due to the fact that she was born with the inherent "mana manipulation" skill, his entire clan was labeled as criminals, chased out of the Sea of Trees and hunted down by Imperial Slavers "because they gave sanctuary to a 'monster' like ''her.''"

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Kouki had won her over simply by giving her a can of Monster Energy, with the spent can becoming her NumberOneDime. It's quite a JustifiedTrope considering that she hadn't had anyone being as nice as he was in the last 5000 years.
* CompleteImmortality: She literally cannot die or even faint as long as the Heaven's Tree is intact. It also doubles as AndIMustScream in the battlefield, as she had gotten used to surviving through various traumatic injuries.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: At first she appears to be a dignified goddess who attempted to beckon Kouki to fight her cause. When her summoning call was rejected, she quickly breaks down to reveal the haggard, overworked goddess who was one foot away from death by exhaustion.

** To Yue. Both of them were effectively immortal and borderline MadwomanInTheAttic, and their meeting with their lovers had similar premise, but the girls was won over in contrasting manner.
** To Liliana. While Liliana is a voluntary workaholic who experience withdrawal symptoms when she isn't working, Aula was thrusted into her goddess role and worked like a corporate slave in a black company.
** To Ehit. Both of them were deities who had effectively [[GoMadFromTheIsolation gone mad from their isolation]]. While Ehit is a MadGod who plunges the inhabitants into a ForeverWar out of sheer boredom, Aula is a kind but workaholic goddess who worked endlessly in a CrapsackWorld to the point of being completely enslaved by her job.
** To Uralt. Both of them are rival goddesses who had pledged their UndyingLoyalty to Kouki. Uralt is a lost goddess whose soul resided in his Holy Sword and insisted in tagging along with him in After Story, while Aula is an immortal goddess who can transform into a black wooden sword of similar caliber. And both of them are trying to one up the other.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: To Kouki. It's also a case of EarnYourHappyEnding for Aula, since her life until then had been a lifetime of endless work in managing her world.

* WorldTree: Her world's tree was noted for its enormous size, named as Heaven's Tree for it is literally tall enough to pierce the heavens.

As someone puts it, she has been ''completely'' dyed with the color of a corporate slave, as her solution to everything is to throw even more workhours into her job and apologize profusely for her incompetence.

This is especially true for the Labyrinths made by the female Liberators, as they're very prone of throwing a number of absolutely trollish challenges.

(To a perverted rapist like Baius who loves to abuse women for sexual gratification, this is a horrifying situation) He claims he'll give the Prince the cure if he does what Hajime wants.

* PsychopathicWomanchild: Supposedly. All the dungeon's signage is written in an overly cutesy, energetic tone and linked to traps that would have been deadly if Yue and Hajime weren't already grossly overpowered thanks to their experiences in the Orcus dungeon.

* TookALevelInCheerfulness: When she was a child, Miledi was an EmotionlessGirl. As a teenager, her personality drastically changed to become quite similar to that of the cheerful and carefree Belta.

* DoomedByCanon: Their own attempt to defeat the gods was unsuccessful, leaving them with little choice but to build the Great Labyrinths to pass on their knowledge to anyone capable of overcoming each of the labyrinth's trials for potential future liberators.

* HeroWithBadPublicity: They're acting to free the people of Tortus from the JerkassGods, but said gods have a very effective [[VillainsWithGoodPublicity propaganda]] [[ChurchMilitant machine]] in place...
* PrequelInTheLostAge: They are the protagonists in Arifureta ZERO novels.

* BigBrotherInstinct: He is highly protective of his adopted siblings. In fact, he joined the Liberators because the local bishop kidnapped them in the first place.

* TakeUpMySword: The true intention of the dungeons. They were built to test the mettle of men so that hopefully someone would arrive who had the skill, the power, and the moral character to which they could bequeath their power. Unfortunately, Hajime would not arrive until millennia later.

* AllForNothing: Invoked. Even getting past all her traps is no guarantee that you've beaten the dungeon. To add injury to insult, and insult to injury, trying to map out the dungeon is useless as it randomly, and completely, morphs its basic design after a certain amount of time has passed, making any maps useless.
* AntiMagic: The dungeon, ''and the entire gorge the dungeon resides in'' seriously screws with the usage of magic. This makes Shea, who only uses body-strengthening and precognition magic, at most, ''the best choice'' to conquer the dungeon. Though she ended up getting trolled the most. ''Arifureta Zero'' revealed that this was her AchillesHeel, as she was quite powerless when she is unable to use her magic.

* SecretTestOfCharacter: Her Labyrinth was ''big'' on this, as no lines are too sacred for her ''absurdly'' difficult challenges to test the challenger's forged bonds.
** [[spoiler:First, some of the party members was replaced with slimes while the real ones were transformed into monsters which they could accidentally kill. Hajime managed to see through the fake and identify the real Yue in an instant, but had to use Demon Eyes to detect the other fakes and find the transformed members them the hard way, as even the Ancient Magic was unable to restore the transformation.]]
** [[spoiler:Secondly, everyone was put into a LotusEaterMachine and had to break out of their ideal worlds on their own. It is possible to break other members out, but while it allows the party to proceed, those who were still in the LotusEaterMachine would be disqualified from acquiring the Ancient Magic.]]
** [[spoiler:Thirdly, the challengers are subjected to a deluge of [[LivingAphrodisiac milky-white slimes]] that keep raining down until the party ends up KissingUnderTheInfluence. And he was perfectly willing to let them all be killed by a powerful enemy in the labyrinth, had [[MoralityPet Myu and his party]] not talked him into it. But even then, he still makes it clear to them that he will not hesitate to kill '''any''' of them if they get in his way of going back home.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: In comparison to the native inhabitants of Tortus, the Hero Party is very powerful as they managed to reach further than anyone else from Tortus in the Orcus Labyrinth, as their party is filled with people with rare and powerful jobs. However, they greatly fall short of Hajime and his party, which not only cleared the Orcus Labyrinth, but several others as well as managing to stop the demon invasion of the Heiligh Kingdom by themselves.

However, it is shown that despite his great power, he lacks the experience and battle skill of other skilled fighters such as Meld and Emperor Gahard.

** [[IRejectYourReality He has a tendency to frame everything to fit his own worldview]], making him oblivious to anything that ran counter to his worldview.
** {{Pride}}, which is also well connected to, or arguably what, his "sense of justice" truly is. Kouki is shown to have a lot of pride in being in the right, to the point he has no concern if he could ever be wrong. When he's no longer having his pride validated through his beliefs, it won't take long for Kouki to get incredibly frustrated and further delve into delusion to make sense of what he perceives as the world around him.

** He tends to use BlamingTheVictim whenever a conflict happens between two hypothetical parties, especially seen in Haijime's case, yet whenever Kouki's on the losing side of a personal conflict, he'll never factor himself to blame.
** One of the things he hates about Haijime is him being an {{Otaku}}, but Kouki's blind adherence to his idealistic principles and lack of social awareness ironically makes him more delusional than Haijime ever could be.

* TooDumbToLive: Kouki has shown repeatedly that he is a moron. Like attempting to spare Cattleya after she nearly killed his whole party, just cause she was a mindless monster.
