Unlike canon, he doesn't see her as a pawn and they have a VillainousFriendship, they have basically become OnlyFriend to each other after "True Colors", having genuine fondness for each other.

* BigBadWannabe: He sasha were this a t the beginning of the story Sasha. The plot to take over Newtopia actually went pretty smoothly, culminating in them snatching the Calamity Box and briefly usurping the throne . The main reason for their failure is them being unable to convince anyone of their discovery that King Andrias is the BigBad and Marcy as TheDragon who intend to become {{Multiversal Conqueror}}s, thanks to a combination of [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Sasha's constantly betraying their trust]] and Grime's own past villainous actions against the heroes making it impossible for them to get the heroes to listen to them. As such, the heroes help King Andrias take the city back ''and'' give him and Marcy access to the Box, unaware until far too late that Sasha and the toads were actually the LesserOfTwoEvils.

* AttentionWhore: The Core accuses Marcy of being this, with her clumsy nature that puts her in harm's way is her subconscious desire for people to notice and care about her wellbeing. Marcy initially denies but ultimately relents that [[VillainHasAPoint the Core is right about her.]]

* ClingyJealousGirl: Marcy does ''not'' take it well when Anne refers to Sprig as her best friend "in this or any other world". She drops Sprig to his intended death for it and later tries to kill the whole Planter family out of jealousy. Chapter 12 reveals that Marcy started a rumor about someone selling alcohol at her school and framed another friend of Anne's for the crime to keep her to herself.

* FalseFriend: Its revealed in her journal that she never considered the Plantars or the Wartwoodians her friends, and only put with them for Anne's sake.

** :In Marcy's journal, its revealed the girl greatly resented and despised the Plantars and the people of Wartwood for not only "stealing" Anne from her for their (initial) disrespect towards her for being an outsider respectively, believing they should be worshipping her for her heritage alone.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Part of how Andrias and The Core brainwashed Marcy into joining was appealing to this and her fear of having a boring, normal life.

** She has another case of this in Chapter 14. When Yunan tries to attack the Core, an angry Marcy goes to its defense SuddenlyShouting at her to get away from her master. Her appearance involves [[EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette discoloured skin]] and [[CreepyShadowedUndereyes sunken cheeks and eyes]], along with AngryAnimalisticGrowl and a DeathGlare. Backing off, Yunan calls it a sight more haunting than the Core, and it drives Olivia to [[BrokenPedestal tears]].

* PossessiveWristGrab: In chapter 5, Marcy grabs Anne in this fashion while desperately trying to convince her that they can [[WeCanRuleTogether use the Calamity Box to rule together.]]

* PsychoSupporter: Marcy has become this for The Core. Praising them like a deity and all but begging to merge with the MindHive.

* SecretlySelfish: While Marcy might believes that Earth should submit to the Newtopian empire because they can provide technology and resources beyond humanity's current capabilities, she also mentions in her MotiveRant that it appeals to her obsessive desire for a special life, to always have Anne and Sasha with her, and not have anyone tell her what to do. Anne at one point in their fight even calls her a selfish brat.
* SkilledButNaive: Marcy may be a TeenGenius but the Core notes she lacks wisdom and maturity.

* WeCanRuleTogether: King Andrias and The Core successfully get Marcy in on this. Marcy also tries this on Anne and Sasha. But of course, Anne and the others are not interested and are even more creeped out and aghast by Marcy's actions than in canon. So when the battle breaks out, Marcy is forced to fight against them when they try to stop her.

* MirthlessLaughter: Marcus laughs in disbelief after witnessing his wife having sunken to beating up Anne, a teenager.

* HiddenDisdainReveal: When strangling Sasha while in the midst of a VillainousBreakdown, Marcy admits to '''''enjoying''''' it, mentally reflecting on how she's always hated playing second fiddle to her for Anne's friendship. And with what she thought to be her LastWords after King Andrias accidentally stabs her, Marcy tells Anne she '''''hates''''' her.

* IfOnlyYouKnew: Marcy's father made sure she read about the history of Ancient China to ensure his daughter was aware and educated of her proud heritage. What Mr. Wu doesn't know is that their ancestors not only were running Eurasia over thousands of years, but invented the means to travel between worlds.

* Irony:
** When presented with her ideal fantasy, Marcy ''embraces'' the soulless puppets of Anne and Sasha here instead of thinking how wrong it is like in canon.
** When it is time to become Darcy, Marcy ''willingly'' joins The Core, even being in control rather than just a puppet for the MindHive.

* WeCanRuleTogether: King Andrias and The Core successfully get Marcy in on this. Marcy also tries this on Anne and Sasha. But of course, Anne and the others are not interested and are even more creeped out and aghast by Marcy's actions than in canon. So when the battle breaks out, Marcy is forced to fight against them.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Obviously, learning the true extent of Marcy's betrayal destroys her friendships with Anne and Sasha. She also terminates her bond with Olivia after the latter tries to "rescue" her from King Andrias. As of now, King Andrias is her OnlyFriend and vice versa.

* HellIsThatNoise: The Core's screech as it makes itself present to Andrias, Olivia, Yunan and Marcy in chapter 14. Only Marcy doesn't flinch from it.

* EvilAllAlong: In chapter 5, he explains that his ancestors and Marcy's were conquerors; he plans to reclaim his glory by using the recharged music box to conquer all other dimensions, including Earth, alongside Mar-Mar.

* AffablyEvil: Even though she's on the side of evil, Marcy can still be her old happy-go-lucky self.

* ContrivedCoincidence: Not only did Marcy happen to find the Calamity Box at a thrift store by chance and recognize it from a library book when she ran away from home after learning that her family was moving out-of-state, she just so happens to be [[VillainousLineage a direct descendant of the humans who created it and lived in Newtopia]]. King Andrias and Marcy believes this was fate, and it only fuels Marcy's [[BecauseDestinySaysSo obsessive belief that she's destined to use the Box for greatness]].

* CuteClumsyGirl: Just like in canon, but the Core makes it clear she needs to subvert this trope on herself to succeeed.

* DissonantSerenity: Marcy calmly reassures a panicked Olivia with a sincere smile that everything was going to be okay as she's about to willingly become the Core's host.

** When Lady Olivia grabs her arm and tries to get Marcy to pull a HeelFaceTurn, Marcy notes she could easily slap her hand away, but [[SubvertedTrope Subverts]] this by gently brushing her hand off out of remaining fondness for her Newt friend... Then it gets [[DoubleSubvertedTrope Double Subverted]] when she spitefully tells her and Yunan that the [[ThatManIsDead Marcy they knew]] '''[[ThatManIsDead is dead]]''', rendering her rescue attempt which put their lives on the line AllForNothing.

* PsychoSupporter: She's this to Core, who she worships as a living god.

* SanitySlippage: When the truth is revealed, Marcy doesn't slip into this trope [[VillainousBreakdown so much as swan dive into it]].

* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She may be a happy-go-lucky adventurer and strategic planner with BoyishShortHair and [[GamerChick a love for video games]], but her usual outfit in Newtopia consists of a makeshift skirt instead of pants.

* WhatTheHellHero: Both Anne and Sasha are infuriated and horrified at discovering that Marcy's the reason why they were trapped in Amphibia and is selling out their planet to King Andrias; even when she tries to explain her motivations to them, they have none of it. Unlike canon, Marcy doubles down and fights them.

* ManipulativeBastard: Much more successful at this than in the show, with Marcy, getting her to join them willingly.

* MechanicalAbomination: Its original form has the appearance of a multi-eyed spherical robot with robotic tentacles and glowing orange eyes with lighter shaded pupils, it dwarfs even King Andrias who is no dwarf himself.

* LegacyOfService: Lady Olivia's family has served as stewards to the Amphibian monarchy for centuries, possibly with the Wu Clan.
