* Like with Superman, Wonder Woman is this for many for fans of the character. Some argue that her portrayal as an unapologetic LadyMacbeth figure is fine as it's set in an AlternateUniverse and liberties should be allowed. The other camp arguing that it being set in an AU only goes so far as unlike Superman or her other Regime allies, she is portrayed as far more villainous but has far less of a motivation for her actions and this version borders on InNameOnly territory. There are also those who see the whole Injustice franchise as yet another DC Universe where Wonder Woman gets reduced to a romantic prop/arm candy status for Superman or Batman. That she also gets told off by Harley Quinn for her actions despite Quin's direct and complicit involvement in the events that started the whole mess in the Injustice universe also angers some people.

Just For Pun cleanup, cutting misuse.

* Captain Cold gets some of this, mainly for being a replacement for Killer Frost, and the fact that he makes ice puns that reminds players of the Series/1966 and Film/BatmanAndRobin versions of Mr. Freeze. Though it's universally agreed that he does it better, mainly due to his deadpan delivery, and has a goddamned hilarious Arcade ending.

Tier-Induced Scrappy is no longer a trope

* Deadshot. A common theory for why he was put into Injustice 2 was because of Film/SuicideSquad2016, a movie that was not well-received. The fact that he serves as the effective replacement for Deathstroke has also gotten people to sour their view of him. Combine that with his TierInducedScrappy status, and there are quite a few fans who will bash Deadshot at every turn, even going as far as to say he has "no place" in the roster. Still, he has a large fanbase for being the BreakoutCharacter of the comics, and say he has a fun playstyle, and they enjoy his professional demeanor. Naturally, the topic of "Should Deadshot return in sequels" can be quite vicious.

* Doomsday and Raven. Both characters have received both praise and criticism for their appearance, moveset, and especially their voices (particularly Raven for the latter, whose demonically deepened voice doesn't sound as expected). Even after Tara herself revealed that she still is Raven, the camp of "We want Teen/Non-Demonized Raven voice back" is still not destroyed.
* Killer Frost. Some are fine with her inclusion, others are upset that she was chosen over Captain Cold, and others still decry her as just filling out the "ice character/Sub-Zero/Frost" archetype instead of giving it to a more deserving non-archetype character.

* The Joker has been divisive in two manners: While he has been met with approval by those that feel a game featuring Batman wouldn't feel complete without his archnemesis, he has been criticized for not only saturating the roster with more Batman-related characters, but also for being shoehorned and a waste of a slot on basis that his Injustice counterpart has been long dead and is better off staying dead for story purposes (and indeed, he only appears once in the storyline during a fear-hallucination sequence suffered by Harley and has no bearing to the larger plot whatsoever). His design is another contentious point with people derisively arguing he looks "emo" or reminds them of either Jared Leto's incarnation of the character which is a whole divisive issue on its own right or Film/LittleNicky; while the ones positively believe he resembles Heath Ledger's Joker, and can still be customized by the gear system.
* Raiden, who was confirmed as a DLC character in Fighter Pack 2. While many were fine with Sub-Zero as a token Mortal Kombat guest, many of those same people felt like having a second guest was going too far in a series meant to be focused on DC characters. He was already wildly contentious when he was teased, highly suggesting his inclusion (a clash exchange between Joker and Black Adam, and his very distinct teaser silhouette), and many players were hoping were just an EasterEgg and a fake-out, respectively. While some of the tension was swayed with the reveal he would come with a premier skin to play as Black Lightning instead, some fans still decry him for being a wasted pick nobody was really asking for.
* Superman, more so than in the first game because his heroic counterpart from the main universe is a no-show. Supporters claim that since Injustice is set in an AlternateUniverse, Netherrealm can take as many creative liberties with the character as possible, not to mention that some of his practices are justified to a certain extent given the state of the Injustice universe. Detractors claim that this version of Superman is too far removed and different from Superman's usual characterization to be enjoyable; not to mention that trailers implied he would develop sympathetic qualities, only for the actual game to see him sink deeper into villainy, which also relates to Netherrealm's perceived shilling of Batman.
* Deadshot. A common theory for why he was put into Injustice 2 was because of Film/SuicideSquad2016, a movie that was not well-received. The fact that he serves as the effective replacement for Deathstroke (see below) has also gotten people to sour their view of him.
* Surprisingly for her character, Harley Quinn has been especially divisive in this game, mostly from a story perspective. While some fans like her CharacterDevelopment into an actual hero, as well as her brief, but interesting relationship with the now-long-dead Joker, others find it more questionable. Given how she was at least partially responsible for causing the destruction of Metropolis, and in turn the terrible things that began the Injustice universe, whether she was too EasilyForgiven is a hot debate, especially since nobody seems to hate her anywhere near the levels of The Joker, or even Green Lantern and The Flash, and is in fact trusted wholeheartedly by people like Batman to the point of in her arcade mode ending. Similar to the Joker, her more Suicide Squad film-inspired appearance and attitude don't help to reduce the arguments.
* The Ninja Turtles became this the moment they were revealed. Some fans think they're a fantastic choice, others think the game should have fewer Guest Fighters (since four of the ten DLC characters aren't from DC), and still others are upset because they wanted different Guest Fighters (with ComicBook/Spawn, Rorschach and Beast Boy, winners of official Twitter popularity polls, being the most commonly cited).
* The Enchantress splits the fans for similar reasons as Deadshot in that she is perceived as being in the game due to Film/SuicideSquad2016, which notoriously features the character with a heavily criticized portrayal. Fans are split between being angry at her inclusion for this reason or excited due to the character's power set and being a more obscure character than most of the cast.
* Like Superman, Wonder Woman is this for many for fans of the character. Like with Superman, some argue that her portrayal as an unapologetic LadyMacbeth figure is fine as it's set in an AlternateUniverse and liberties should be allowed. The other camp arguing that it being set in an AU only goes so far as unlike Superman, she is portrayed as far more villainous but has far less of a motivation for her actions.
