* The directs. Instead of relying on con, interviews, and shows Nintendo has taken to hosting half-hour long presentations to give their consumers ideas of whats being done and what games are coming and updates on existing games. It doesn't sound like much but, unlike their competitors, it allows them to control the hype and keep it from dieing. There is also the added benefits of allowing them to have Directs to be about one thing ie; just Smash, Bayonetta, Pokemon, Zelda and so on.
* As of 9-13-18 Nintendo and Square-Enix have seem to have burying the hatchet with every Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10 and 10-2 being ported to the Switch (with 8 being missing most likely due to the Source Code being gone.) 7 is notable as it was the game that Square turned away from Nintendo with and started to favor Sony with.

* While there are assorted moments of awesomeness from E3 2018 from the various games announced, there is one very unstated one that PC fans have taken notice of: the Switch runs ''VideoGame/ArkSurvivalEvolved''. One of the most brutally system-intensive games on the PC, one that the PS4 and XBOne only work at 30fps, '''[[SugarWiki/GeniusProgramming works on the Switch]]'''. That sound you heard in the background is the PC port floodgates '''shattering''' under the pressure of this revelation, as this essentially means that with proper optimization, just about any game can work on the Switch as well.

* The year is 2006. Nintendo has been lagging behind the competition since 1995, when Sony's UsefulNotes/PlayStation overtook the video game industry. The PSX beat UsefulNotes/Nintendo64 by a landslide, and the UsefulNotes/NintendoGameCube threw the company into last place behind both the [[UsefulNotes/PlayStation2 PS2]] and newcomer Microsoft's UsefulNotes/{{Xbox}}. People were wondering what Nintendo had up their sleeve to stay in the home console race. About a week before E3 2006, Nintendo finally announced their next console (codenamed "Revolution") would be called the UsefulNotes/{{Wii}}. [[MyGodYouAreSerious Yes, the Wii]]. It would only slightly more powerful than the [=GameCube=]. It will; utilize a freaking remote control instead of a traditional gamepad as its main controller. Many laughed it off as marketing suicide. Then E3 came and went, and once everyone had gotten the laughter out of their system, they were starting to admit that it could be pretty cool. Come the system's launch that autumn and the Wii quickly became one of the biggest mainstream success in the video game industry, putting Nintendo at the top of the heap for the first time in a decade. And even three years later, it was still the top seller, with everyone and their grandmother (''quite literally'') owning one. The Wii wasn't Nintendo committing suicide; it was their ultimate comeback story.
** So a group of MoralGuardians were bashing Nintendo for releasing VideoGame/MadWorld on the Wii console despite Nintendo saying that the Wii was meant for everyone. Their response: That the Wii is indeed for everyone... and gamers that play games like Mad World [[ExactWords are included with everyone.]]

After that, we got a slew of game trailers mixed with short developer interviews. ''VideoGame/YoshisWoollyWorld'' made its reappearance after being missing-in-action for eighteen months. The beloved "Captain Toad" levels got the SpinOff treatment in ''VideoGame/CaptainToadTreasureTracker''. We our first look at then-untitled ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'' and a new trailer for ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'', with news that ''[[VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}} Bayonetta 1]]'' would ship in a two-pack with the upcoming [[VideoGame/{{Bayonetta2}} sequel]] squeezed in-between. We had a return to stylus gameplay in the form of ''VideoGame/KirbyAndTheRainbowCurse'' alongside footage of ''VideoGame/XenobladeChroniclesX''. We witnessed the birth of future SleeperHit ''VideoGame/{{Splatoon}}'' and closed the main conference off with another ''Smash Bros.'' character reveal... as well as a stealth reveal of ''VideoGame/StarFoxZero'' via blurry cam. Combined with the excellent Treehouse coverage, while Nintendo didn't WinBackTheCrowd for the Wii U in the long term, the presentation was loved to the point where 4chan's /v/ board actually ''made a gigantic Thank You card'' and sent it to the company. Not a bad showing for Nintendo's worst-selling console.
** All of this is made even more impressive by Nintendo being the only company there that didn't do a traditional press conference, continuing instead with the pre-recorded format they began in 2013. In true Nintendo fashion, they took their own path, and boy did they succeed.

* In 2016, Nintendo raised a lot of eyebrows when they said the only game they'd be bringing to E3 was Breath of the Wild, then unnamed. Many were skeptical the idea was wise, especially when the group assumption thought that it meant that ''that was the only game they would be showing''. Then the game was revealed, and the lines that formed afterward showed that they weren't nearly as crazy as people thought they were.

** ''{{VideoGame/Metroid}}'' fans got thrown another bone at that E3, too. ''Prime 4'' was the only ''Metroid'' game announced for the Switch, but it was followed by ''VideoGame/MetroidSamusReturns'' on the 3DS to tithe fans over in the interim. The game got two {{Toys/Amiibo}} figures to go along with it, too.
** ''Super Mario Odyssey'' proved to be a showstopper too, being one of the most popular games among guests and viewers the world over. Within hours, the trailer became the second-most-watched E3 preview, after ''VideoGame/StarWarsBattlefrontII2017''. Some compared the trailer favorably to the one for ''Breath of the Wild'' the previous year, and speculate that the final game may even rival it's success!

* The Wii U, the console everyone claims is on its way out, manged to be one of the top selling items at Target Black Friday 2015. Its competitors were iPads. Not the other consoles, ''iPads''! Nintendo is never truly down it seems.
* In the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5uik5fgIaI announcement trailer]] for UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch, a guy is shown playing ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'', which so far showcases nothing special. Then his dog barks at him, telling him that he wants to go out. Does the man save the game and turn the console off? No, [[WhamShot he removes both sides of the Joy-Con controller, placed them to both sides of a tablet inside the console, took said tablet out of the console, and continued playing as he and his dog went out]]. This marked the moment when we all knew that this was not going to be your usual gaming platform.
** The fact that Nintendo has the balls to release a cartridge based console in the age where the video game world is dominated by either digital platforms or disc based physical releases. Even better, since chips aren't left behind when TechnologyMarchesOn, there's a good chance it could actually work!
