* Credit to Dreyfuss, he shows to be a competent and sensible leader before the situation degenerates. He is able to adapt pretty quickly to the news of intelligent apes, and gets his people to hold it together not through intimidation, but by reassuring them and reminding them of how far they have gone. [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure He even agrees to try a peaceful solution first]]. Overall, it's very easy to see why the people in the city chose to follow and trust him. Even after Koba's attack causes him to jump off the slippery slope, it must be given credit for how he managed to stay hidden and organize a sound conteroffensive.

** And then Caesar has his own during the fight, when despite being seriously wounded he takes Koba apart. Employing patience, guile and skill, he lets Koba exhaust himself with big, flashy attacks until he spots his opening, then taunts Koba into lowering his guard and [[CriticalHit and exploits it gloriously.]] Did Will let Caesar watch Muhammad Ali? Because that's how you rope-a-dope.

** Caesar's march to the human city to make a show of strength. It's impressive even ''before'' he shows that he can speak.

* At the dam, when Koba runs around angrily he pushes over Alexander is about to attack him, but Maurice stands in his way and stands all upright, showing off how big he is, and drives him away. Koba has killed '' an actual bear'' (albeit with a spear) but he's still not going to mess with Maurice.

** Just before that, when Maurice gets Blue Eyes' signal that it's time, he ''effortlessly'' breaks free of the chains that had been holding him. In case you forgot that, Gorillas aside, Maurice is physically the most capable of Apes.

* Koba trying to instigate a war to Caesar. The first time, Caesar only has to stand up before Koba begins asking for forgiveness. The second time, :Koba says [[CategoryTraitor that Caesar loves the humans more than his sons]], and Caesar ends up slamming him against the floor and strangling Koba until he gives up!
