Misplaced, moving to the correct tab

* In WesternAnimation/BewareTheBatman, Anarky of all people takes up the role, thanks to the Joker not being present in this version.

* In the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse, Lex Luthor is still Superman's primary enemy, but and Brainiac surpass him whenever they show up.
** And yet Luthor has survived direct dealings with both of them while even as both suffered grievous defeat. He was and .
** Of all three though, Darkseid is easily Superman's most hated enemy. To put it in perspective, he is the only villain in the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse that Superman has no problem with killing, and actually WANTS to kill. Which is perfectly understandable as he's also the enemy who did by far the most damage to Superman, having murdered his friend Dan Turpin, brainwashed him into turning against Earth, causing him to become a pariah and lose Earth's trust for a while and getting Supergirl to be injured and nearly killed in the process.
*** The only one who was able to actually BREAK Superman was indeed Lex Luthor. That WAS the Justice Lord version, but he was still really, really close to it in the main DCAU also.
** Brainiac seems to consider Superman's father Jor-El to be his archfoe even though Jor-El is long dead. Brainiac never forgot that Jor-El opposed him to the very end and nearly destroyed him. For someone who supposedly lacks emotions, Brainiac took great pleasure in making "the son of Jor-El" kneel before him when he went back in time to kill teenage Clark. When Brainiac and Superman encounter each other on Apokolips, Brainiac claims that Superman has no hope of stopping him since his father couldn't.
*** It can be said that Luthor is this to Superman, Brainiac is this to "Kal-El", and Darkseid is this to "Clark Kent" (as he takes the threat of Darkseid more personally compared to the other two).
** The Joker and Batman in WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries , its sequels, and Justice League. Unlike the contemporary comics, where their battle is more or less destined to go on forever (or at least until the next ContinuityReboot), the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse actually gets to show their rivalry from its early beginnings all the way to the inevitable, brutal final battle. The notion of an archenemy is also deconstructed; whereas Joker early on seems to hold Batman in high regard as a genuine WorthyOpponent, by the time of their final battle he openly admits to have grown utterly tired of their "game". Bruce himself also has no delusions about what kind of person Joker really was, and tells his successor as much decades after Joker's death.
--->Terry: It's funny. I know about all your other major enemies, but, you never mention him. He was the biggest, wasn't he?
--->Bruce: It wasn't a popularity contest. He was a psychopath. A monster.
** Joe Chill can also be seen as this to "Bruce Wayne" since he was the one responsible for killing his parents.
** Blight to Terry McGinnis in WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond. Blight is the supervillain alter ego of Derek Powers, a CorruptCorporateExecutive who took over Wayne Enterprises and had Terry's father murdered, therefore motivating him to take up Bruce Wayne's mantle and become Powers' greatest enemy.

* For some reason or another, in WesternAnimation/SpiderManAndHisAmazingFriends from the 80s, his arch enemy was Doctor Doom. While the two have had s few historic encounters with one another in the comics, Doom is otherwise always depicted as an enemy of the ComicBook/FantasticFour above all else.
* In WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries all of the three traditional Spider-Man arch-enemies mentioned in the comic books section above are present, but the Green Goblin and Venom are both far less prominent, and Dr Octopus is downgraded to a B-list villain. Instead, the Kingpin serves as Spidey's main enemy.

* Ebon to Static in WesternAnimation/StaticShock. Not only are his CastingAShadow powers directly opposite to Statics bright ShockAndAwe abilities, their worldviews are directly opposed too: Virgil's father run's the youth center, and his family active tries to help the community, especially kids; Ebon was a gangbanger who tries to "collect" metahumans into his super powered street gang.
** Francis (Hotstreak) is one to Static as well, or more accurately, one to "Virgil Hawkins". Their feud can be seen as personal due to Hotstreak bullying Virgil prior to them obtaining their powers. Their LightningFireJuxtaposition also makes them this way.

* Each of the WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003 had one:
** Slade to Robin. While Slade was largely the enemy of the Teen Titans as a whole (like in the comics), Robin became very obsessed with defeating Slade, and he in turn tormented him at every turn to force Robin to become his apprentice.
** Brother Blood to Cyborg. Blood was the head teacher of HIVE Academy, where the HIVE FIVE were from, but when Cyborg infiltrated the academy, Blood learned of Cyborg's cybernetics resisting his mind control powers., which inspired him to add his own cybernetics as a way to overcome this.
** Blackfire to Starfire. Blackfire being Starfire's evil sister made their few interactions in the series very personal.
** Trigon to Raven. Trigon being Raven's ArchnemesisDad and one of the most powerful evils ever, he often sought to sway Raven, even as she refused to join him.
** Terra to Beast Boy. They formerly dated, until Terra became Slade's new apprentice, and it made things complicated between them. They later made amends when Terra turned on Slade and redeemed herself at the cost of turning to stone.
** The Brotherhood of Evil became the greatest evil faced by everyone in the entire series, but on a personal level the Brotherhood (and specifically, the Brain) is Beast Boy's Arch Enemy. He was a member of the team that opposed them before he joined the Titans, and his past with them is what draws the other Titans into the conflict. Interestingly, this is a rare case of the hero taking it more seriously than the villain -- the Brain considers Mento, the Doom Patrol's leader, to be his Arch Enemy, and regards Beast Boy as little more than an irritant. Yet, thanks to Beast Boy (and by extension, the Titans), the Brain considers ALL kid heroes his archenemies.
* WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo: The H.I.V.E. Five are this to the Titans, being their most frequent appearing foes.

* WesternAnimation/Ben10 has several characters possessing their own arch-enemies:
** Ben Tennyson has many contenders to the title, but his greatest enemy of all is Vilgax, by virtue of being by far the oldest and most persistent (he already was an ArchEnemy to Ben's grandfather), as well as having a direct connection to Ben's OriginStory, and appears in all series as an antagonist, which extends to the reboot where he is treated as the most serious and dangerous threat to him of all. In fact, even when faced with the EldritchAbomination Dagon, Ben's main concern was Vilgax. Aside from Vilgax, however, Ben's greatest enemies include;
*** Zs'Skayr, the consciousness hidden within Ben's Ghostfreak transformation, served as one for the level of grudge he has with Ben as an EnemyWithout and the general intensity of their schemes and battles, to the point Ben formed an EnemyMine with Vilgax at one point to confront him.
*** Dr. Animo, Ben's most recurring human enemy, who ended up overshadowed by more dangerous foes, but would remain a thorn in Ben's side until at least his 40s. In fact, when getting the Negative 10 to start infighting, Ben shows an uncharacteristic WorthyOpponent feeling toward Animo by feeling he should be "next in charge" of the group.
*** Kevin 11 served as Ben's antithesis in their childhood, in the way he used his powers for his selfish desires and eventually mutated into a hybrid form of Ben's aliens, but made a HeelFaceTurn when they became teenagers, becoming best friends, with Ben even calling Kevin the brother he never had by "Ultimate Alien". He was replaced as Ben's antithesis by Albedo, Azmuth's former assistant trapped in the form of a color-inverted version of Ben, who is treated as more of a HarmlessVillain than Kevin was, though still attempting to prove his worth by the manner of being the creator of the Ultimatrix.
*** The rogue Galvanic Mechamorph Malware would serve as another personal adversary for Ben, with Ben even fearing him due to him destroying Feedback, essentially killing a part of Ben and being implied to be the reason he removed the Omnitrix in the TimeSkip between series.
*** The above competitors for the status as one of Ben's arch-enemies also vary greatly in how Ben treats them. Ben treats Animo more or less as a persistent but lower-tier villain by the events of Ultimate Alien, but he does not extend this to Kevin or Malware: When Kevin went insane again and became even more dangerous than before as Ultimate Kevin, Ben more or less spent the entire period in crisis mode and was a lot quicker to use extreme tactics to take Kevin down no matter the costs as, not just a great villain returning, but a personal failing he needed to correct. Meanwhile, despite debuting in the lighter Omniverse series, neither Ben nor the narrative ever treat Malware or the threat he poses as a joke.
** Gwen Tennyson has Hex and Charmcaster, both being directly linked to her connection to magic. While both of them did fight Ben, it's pretty clear their grudge toward Gwen is much more personal. Hex ends up undergoing a HeelFaceTurn in Omniverse, leaving Charmcaster as Gwen's sole main antagonist (Charmcaster herself has been going through the HeelFaceRevolvingDoor since Ultimate Alien, but has performed enough villainous acts to still qualify).
** While Ragnarok appeared for only one episode, his link to Kevin's origin is enough to qualify as Kevin's Arch-enemy. In Omniverse, Kevin gains a new recurring one in Proctor Servantis, another villain with major ties to Kevin's backstory .
** Rook Blonko has his former master Kundo, who hates Rook's use of technology and breaking of old Revonnahgander traditions by leaving Earth. Their conflict becomes truly personal when Rook finds out Kundo had injured his father while trying to stop his sister leaving Revonnah.
** AntiVillain King George from the Forever Knights had Dagon. The Forever Knights' ideology towards persecuting aliens is rooted in their conflict with Dagon (even chronicled in history as Literature/SaintGeorgeAndTheDragon), and their ultimate mission is to prevent Dagon's return.
** Professor Paradox has fellow time traveler Eon, a rogue alternate version of Ben who has sought many times to conquer or destroy time, even stealing Paradox's Chrono-Navigator at one point in an attempt to achieve this.

** Ben Tennyson's most well known nemesis is Vilgax, by virtue of being by far the oldest and most persistent (he already was an ArchEnemy to Ben's grandfather), as well as having a direct connection to Ben's OriginStory, and appears in all series as an antagonist, which extends to the reboot where he is treated as the most serious and dangerous threat to him of all. Just below Vilgax are five other villains who have similarly intense animosities with Ben at one point or another.
*** Kevin 11 and Dr Animo were considered candidates as well in the original show, but by the sequels, Kevin made a HeelFaceTurn, and Animo ended up overshadowed by new, more dangerous foes. They were replaced in competition with Vilgax for the title of being a Arch-enemy of Ben's with Albedo (who replaced Kevin as Ben's EvilCounterpart due to Kevin's redemption and also for having a connection to Ben's origin as Azmuth's former assistant) and Malware in Omniverse (who Ben has a personal grudge against as the one who destroyed Feedback). While not as frequently appearing as any of the above others, Ghostfreak/Zs'Skayr is also considered a candidate for the title for the level of grudge he has with Ben as an EnemyWithout and the general intensity of their schemes and battles.
*** The above competitors for the status as one of Ben's arch-enemies also vary greatly in how Ben treats them. Ben treats Animo more or less as a persistent but lower-tier villain by the events of 'Ultimate Alien' and he is willing to throw shade and jokes at Albedo even as he treats the latter as more dangerous than Animo, he does not extend this to an evil Kevin or Malware: during Ultimate Alien where Kevin went insane again and became even more dangerous than before as Ultimate Kevin, Ben more or less spent the entire period in crisis mode and was a lot quicker to use extreme tactics to take Kevin down no matter the costs as not just a great villain returned but a personal failing he needed to correct. Meanwhile, despite debuting in the lighter Omniverse series, neither Ben or the narrative ever treat Malware or the threat he poses as a joke.
*** The original Ben 10,000 had Dr. Animo regain the title of Arch Enemy by his time period due to his persistence and sheer relevancy: Vilgax was dead and Kevin was trapped in the Null Void and there was no sign of Zs'Skayr. Meanwhile Animo's created minions and persistent ability to escape even the Null Void made him the most persistent thorn in the older Ben's side.
** Gwen Tennyson has Hex and Charmcaster, both being directly linked to her connection to magic. While both of them did fight Ben, Max or Kevin, it's pretty clear their grudge toward Gwen is much more personal.

In fact, when getting the Negative 10 to start infighting, Ben shows an uncharacteristic WorthyOpponent feeling to Animo by feeling he should be "next in charge" of the group.
*** Kevin 11 served as Ben's EvilCounterpart in their childhood, but made a HeelFaceTurn when they became teenagers, becoming best friends, with Ben even calling Kevin the brother he never had by "Ultimate Alien". He was replaced as the EvilCounterpart by Albedo, Azmuth's former assistant, who is treated more as a HarmlessVillain than Keven was.

* Perry the Platypus and Dr Doofenschmirtz from WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb are aknowledged to be this, though Perry likely doesn't really respect Doofenschmirtz as a nemesis. Even so, the relationship is very important to both of them, and any time it's interrupted is treated like a romantic break-up.

** WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers has an interesting system wherein archrivalries are assigned, not chosen, by the OSI and Guild of Calamitous Intent (hence the coinage of a term: 'arching' to describe the act of being an archnemesis). In Season 3, it's revealed that a reason for Dr. Mrs. The Monarch's attraction to her husband is that The Monarch's archrivalry of Venture doesn't stem from this stodgy system, but actual, living, breathing, unfounded hatred.
