* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Subverted. Had Cooler known the actual circumstances of Frieza's (and his father's) death, then he wouldn't have directly targeted Goku and his family, but it probably would have taken him to Earth anyway, and he would have likely fought Goku as a result.

* VillainRespect: Cooler isn't quite as heavy on the racism as Frieza (although he does call Goku a monkey at one point) and actualy tells Goku that he can see why Frieza lost to him. Averted in the sequel, where Cooler ramps up both the FantasticRacism and the lack of respect for his foes.

He may very well be more powerful than Androids 19 and 20, the villains immediately after him, but he is a clear cut below the likes of 17 and 18. It's worth noting that 19 and 20 were considered very underwhelming by the protagonists as well.
