The E.U. has been fighting a losing battle against the Holy Britannian Empire for some time and has formed a special "W-0" unit made up of boys and girls from Area 11, who are thrown into a military operation with only a 5% chance of survival in order to rescue an allied unit left behind on the Eastern front. Akito Hyuga, the protagonist, is one of several Japanese volunteers sent to this battlefield. He pilots an unusual Knightmare Frame known as Alexander.

It\'s not Twenty Minutes into the Future, as it\'s more along the lines of an alternate 1960s

It just so happens that Edit Tip 8 (aka the \"No such thing as partial subversions\" rule) is up there while I\'m fixing the \"partially subverted\" trope description. Edit tip 8. Your trope is not a little pregnant.

* SuperPrototype: Partially subverted. Alexander is an European KMF with unusual features, but it was produced in limited numbers for use in the "W-0" unit instead of being a truly unique prototype. [[spoiler: It's too bad most of them were lost during suicide attacks though.]]
