(quick question: Is the new Everything Trying to Kill You example funny enough to stay? All the other examples do make the point IMHO)

  • Guess not. Too bad.

  • Can someone post a link here to the Kayin LP of this? I can't find it anywhere.

Tsunde Ray: GAME OVER - PRESS 'R' TO—*splat* GAME OVER - PRESS 'R' TO TRY AGAIN  *

JET 73 L: Removed this from the WMG page since I don't see that it matters whether Americans (including myself) assume that it refers to pulped tomatoes with certain herbs in rather than pureed tomatoes with different herbs and sugar in, and it just tastes awfully of American-Bashing. I would have simply removed it if I was sure there might not be a reason for making sure the distinction was clear.
(In case Americans are reading this, "tomato sauce" is what those of us who live in Australia call what you call "ketchup", but WMG markup doesn't work well with strikethrough)

  24. Aggrokrag, on Hard.
  25. Xander Kannon, on Hard. Yes, that's a pseudonym.
  26. Zero, on Medium and then Hard. Eventually. Damn it.
  27. Zeta, on all 4 difficulties, including the One-Life-No-Continues level of Impossible
    • Proof or it didn't happen.
      • You really want me to spend another 300+ attempts at a game that I agreed never to play again over half a year ago, triggering what might as well be a Xanatos Roulette in the process (Beating ZaKraid on Impossible is purely luck - you pretty much have to use a Good Bad Bug to kill him, which is why a good 50% of my deaths were to him - and unlike the first person to clear Impossible, every time I died after beating ZaKraid, I had to fight him AGAIN due to being sent back to the load game screen), to get to the one save point on impossible (and even then, hoping it doesn't kill me before I can activate it), JUST so you have tangible proof? F*** you, I'm not gonna risk overdosing on f***ing Tylenol AGAIN just for proof. (and for the record, it took about 3 months to finally do, with the run lasting around two hours mainly due to me catching my breath after each segment and praying to god. It'd be less (the time it took to finally get that run), but I'm not a big fan of Poop Socking)
      • Yes, we do.
      • At the very least, screencap the saved game file.
      • No saves on Impossible besides the glitch one, and there's no end-of-game accomplishment.
      • You're lying. The game has currently been completed on impossible at least twice, by different people, and both times there was an end-of-game accomplishment save.
      • This post has what may very well be the only legitimate pre-final-boss save file so far to come out of Impossible mode. Turns out that the one save point that does appear (which I skipped every time due to not wanting to deal with that blasted EVIL point) only appears for 1 frame, which is just long enough for it to be triggered. of course, 99.9999999% of the world's population won't be able to trigger it the very frame it appears.
    • Lies!
  28. Shay Guy, on Hard.
  29. kongurous, on Hard.
  30. Gravitee on Hard with distracting friends. It would have been funny if they hadn't decided to assist my inevitable mental break with such lines as. "Oh well, guess you'll have to do that ENTIRE SPIKEY SEQUENCE AGAIN FROM THE START!". Near the end they started being more sympathetic, though that might've been because they were scared I'd rip their heads off with my teeth.
  31. Gobolt, on Hard.
  32. Dr Lombriz, on Hard.
  33. Daethorian, on Hard.
  34. Hydro Globus, on Wuss Mode
  35. English Ivy, on Medium.
  36. Salivanth, on Medium. It took him 9 months, but it was bloody worth it.
  37. King Twelve Sixteen, on Hard at 2/26/09 (2:05 PM) with all the hidden items, 1009 deaths, 5:34:40 time on his first run through. He wonders why everybody thinks this game is so hard.
    • Because most of us aren't omniscient/platforming gods.
    • Actually, it kind of makes sense. Think about it, about 1% of the people playing this game will have immense good luck throughout and, so far, he's the only person to claim it was easy, making him roughly 1 in 50 (i.e., 2%). It's quite possible he just had immense good luck.
  38. Quietust, on Hard. 2:07:20 playtime and 442 deaths (plus a few dozen deaths and nearly an hour lost from the game crashing). This was actually the second run - the first one took several weeks and resorted to autofire for Mother Brain, Dragon Devil, and The Guy, only to later discover that it is considered the most extreme form of cheating (even more unspeakable than playing on Wuss mode), so I deleted the save and started over and finished the game again in 2 nights.
  39. Salem Sage, Hard Mode. Took about 1,500 deaths, and I had real trouble with Mother Brain and the final form of The Guy. Due to friends taunting me about not REALLY being The Guy (proof or it didn't happen example), I replayed the final boss, filmed it, and put it up on Youtube. It took me about a week to do, but I swear, the thing that drove me was that awesome Game Over music. If it wasn't present, I'd probably have given up. Seriously, what an epic guitar riff.
  40. Roland, Hard Mode, way too many deaths. Dear god was this torturous. I hate the Guy, in particular, with the frothing passion of a thousand supernovas.
  41. Raekuul, Hard Mode, 1399 Deaths. The eyebrows... the eyebrows...
  42. Hellcopter, beaten on Medium (279 deaths. 633 with all the hidden items) and up to The Guy on Hard (962 deaths). I am considering trying Very Hard, but I don't know if I'm that masochistic.
  43. Xylon Lionheart beat it a long time ago on Hard and Very Hard multiple times, but just joined the Troper community, so here he is on the list.
  44. jebuz, on wuss mode with 1600 deaths. Again on hard mode with 400. Stuck at the spike corridor on Very Hard. Frack!
  45. King Twelve Sixteen 4/16/09 (10:36 AM) on Very Hard this time, with 150 deaths and 2:19:20. Interesting note; I was at 80 deaths and 1:00:19 with the six bosses defeated and nothing left but the guys castle.
  46. King Twelve Sixteen 4/17/09 (1:05 AM) on Medium. 1:2:0 with 75 deaths. This was a speed run, I was messing around on my computer and decided at 11:51 to beat through the entire game in medium before I went to bed. I just rushed through as fast as I could. I killed the Guy on my first try, which was nice, the stupid mecha-birdo was the hardest part, I died like 5 times after injuring her twice.
  47. Stormtroper on Hard with 1576 deaths, probably closer to 2500 since the game crashed a lot. Then again on Very Hard with 1068, probably closer to 1250.
  48. T-Jack on Wuss Mode with 1370 (recorded) deaths.
  49. Dark Hunter on Hard with 1630 deaths.
  50. Kayube on Hard, plus I have all the secret items.
  51. Deus, Wuss mode. Funny enough I timed my deaths so well that right now my save file has 1337 deaths.
  52. T-Jack again, this time on Hard with 506 deaths.
  53. Chris X. 1557 deaths (but probably could be about 2500). HARD. PROOF HERE
  54. Serenade on hard. It took 3 months and over 3000 deaths (by her count)
  55. Vert on Hard, 7:36:40, 2535 deaths and more than 6 months playing (well, I started somewhere between that and a year ago). I hate The (former) Guy and Mother Brain so much...
  56. Starmaster My Brother on Wuss, 1028021 deaths.
  57. Subtle Insanity, on Hard. Playing time of 7:48:00, 1337 deaths, all 6 secret items acquired, and only 2 weeks spent!
  58. T-Jack coming for the hattrick, with 439 deaths on Very Hard. I'm currently considering playing through Impossible, though I don't realy want to go insane...
  59. Tijitdamijit completed Impossible
  60. Lumine finished Normal, after getting the hang of it. Total deaths: 2356! =D
  61. Grognor, on Hard-As-Balls mode.
  62. Foxtrotpenguin, on WUSS and Hard. This troper has also made it to the Ghost n Goblin's area on impossible before giving up.
  63. Bastard on Medium and Hard.
  64. Zarian, Medium difficulty, exactly 1500 deaths. 4:55:30. Update: Beat it again, this time on Hard, only 157 deaths and 1:22:10 this time around. It's a lot easier when you know what to expect.
  65. TOKAM, about half a year ago, on Hard. Would do it on Very Hard, but the G'n'G zone crushes all attempts.
  66. Flairina on Medium (twice), 2400-something deaths the first time, and 790-something deaths the second time. Has also beaten some of the fangames. (I Wanna Be The Fangame: Up to final boss, I Wanna Be The Tribute: Beaten now needs to beat the new version, I Wanna Be The GB: Beaten, etc...)
  67. Carthrat, beaten on Hard. I'm gonna back away before I try it on Very Hard, or worse.
  68. Brad Soup, on Hard. EAT IT, THE GUY! 4:49:10, 1236 deaths.
  69. Eva, on Hard. I beat it in my Geography class and it took all the control I had not to cry tears of joy. (YES. 69.)
  70. The Guy. So you thought you killed me, fools?
  71. Dogtanian, on Hard Very Hard.
  72. Psystar, on hard, with 54 hours, 30 minutes, and 30 seconds of playtime, and 4837 deaths.
  73. Gunlocker Glock, on hard, with 21 hours, 2 min, and 11 secons of playtime, and 2350 deaths. Yeesh.
  74. Zarian again, this time on Very Hard. 150 minutes, 190 deaths. Had the most difficulty with the mine cart, of all places...oh, and acquired all 6 secret items, albeit on a Wuss Mode file.
  75. The Freak, on Wuss. 5 hours, just over 1500 deaths. Totally going back to do it on hard
  76. Crazed Ninja, on Medium. Just over two hours, 551 deaths. Completed over the course of a weekend, shooting hand still hasn't stopped shaking.
  77. Hilarity Ensues, on Hard.
  78. Shmasmasnash, on Hard.
  79. Poochy.EXE, on Medium. 3:25:20 and 894 deaths according to the save file, but there's probably at least a hundred more deaths and an hour of time not recorded due to game crashes.
  80. Poochy.EXE again, on Hard this time. 2:06:20 and 377 deaths recorded. And here's proof. Took a total of less than 4 hours in more or less one sitting, including breaks. Frankly, after having played Tetris: The Grand Master 2 and having tried to scorerun Touhou's Extra Stages, this doesn't feel all that unreasonable in terms of difficulty.
  81. Poochy.EXE on Very Hard for the hat trick. 2:52:20 and 381 deaths recorded. Proof. Done over the course of about 5 days. Stupid spike corridor took forever because of the three removed save points before it; that part took probably an hour alone, most of which went unrecorded because of game crashes.
  82. hr.morgaes on Medium and Hard, and I had gotten pretty far in Very Hard when I lost all my saves. Done over the course of over a year, due to on-and-off playing. And it being hilariously hard. Had all secret items as well.
  83. Major Tom has become the Guy! over 4000 deaths, 12 hours. Very Hard Mode.  *
  84. TITO, on Hard. 1:49:30 and 899 deaths.
  85. Kinksy on Hard, Thrice. Currently trying to beat the Very Hard Mode.
  86. Salamander BSC on Hard. I also made the save fixer for the game.
  87. Liquid, various times on Hard. Once you get a feel for the game, it's not hard, it's just often difficult to pull off. Hey IWBTF!
  88. Fishsicles, on Hard; took a bit over two hours and several thousand deaths. Originally intended to make a Let's Play... No. Just... No. NEVER AGAIN.
  89. Enlong, on Hard; I don't care that the game froze and crashed during the ending cutscene, I shot out The Guy's eyes all six times. The Kid held up the Big Gun to Zelda music. Whatever else the game says, I. Won.
  90. Ettin, on Hard; 3:37:30, 1352 deaths.
