I don't see how Mokuba Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh could fit this trope, anime or manga. He is not useless, and most of the times when he gets kidnapped, either he was in an area he considered "secure" such as he was at Kaiba Corp {where he had free reign and run as the vice president} or he was with his big brother, or he was distracted doing things such as helping Battle City run smoothly. He is/is "the final part" of Kaiba's heart, and as such is the most important thing to Seto, to the point that Seto cheated to be adopted by Kaiba Gozaburo and going through all that abuse to be Gozaburo's heir. He helps run Kaiba Corp and even tried stealing Yuugi's star chips in Duelist Kingdom arc to keep him from being defeated by Pegasus to save his brother's company. And don't get me started on how his manga self isn't the kidnap bait he is in the anime or how Seto would NOT say "See ya, kid." Why, yes, I DO happen to like Mokuba's character.

I don't see how Tegan from Doctor Who fits this trope as a "best example." There are episodes where she (like any Doctor Who companion) gets herself in trouble, but she's far more practical than a "Kimberly" and is often questioning the Doctor or telling him it's stupid to get involved because it's too dangerous (somewhat closer to a Rick? I'm not sure) (e.g., the Visitation). That some may consider her unlikeable I don't think makes her qualify (usually in her era, the character everyone wanted to die was Adric—in fact, HE was far more a Kimberly than Tegan was!). I'll check back and if I see no objections, I'm deleting that.

Lord Seth: Why is Claire from Heroes listed? I don't see how she fits into this trope at all.

Stm177: I added Claire, since she gets into Kim-like trouble alot. Her boyfriend tried to rape her, then killed her, for example. You may be right though, since she is smarter than Kim, so if you want, I don't care if the entry goes away.

Qit el-Remel: Okay. I'm in agreement with Lord Seth, so I'm removing Claire.

Citizen: THIS TITLE THIS TITLE THIS TITLE THIS TITLE THIS TITLE THIS TITLE THIS TITLE...

Sansa Stark? Just because she's not a murderous psychopath like her sister doesn't make her an idiot. I don't think she's stupid at all; she's just surrounded by people stronger and nastier than she is, has no allies whatsoever, and is thus forced to do whatever they want her to. Granted, she manages to (almost) LIKE Littlefinger, but then EVERYONE trusts Littlefinger- it's part of his character than he's incredibly charismatic and a superb liar.

Lord Tywin: I don't think Sansa belongs here either. The only truly stupid thing she ever did was tell Cersei about her father's plan to leave King's Landing.

Tanto: Cut because we don't need this kind of crap on every page. (Or any page.) It's a bad precedent to set.

Yuan: How about a quote for this page? I was thinking of one of the Wheel of Time mock summary ones. Toss up between these I think:
  • Liandrin: You will come with me. Now get into this sack.

Elayne, Egwene, Nynaeve: We will come with you. And get into the sack.

Min: A voluntary self-sack-putting-into?! No one's leaving ME out!

  • Lanfear: Girls, I am Else Grinwell, not Lanfear. The Black Ajah is in Tear. It's a trap. Go Light.

Elayne: A trap-walking-into! Yay!

Egwene: Do we put ourselves in a sack like last time?

Elayne: I think the sack is waiting for us in Tear.

Egwene: Oh, good.

  • Ship Captain: Need help?

Nynaeve: How dare you! We'll be fine!! Bandits: Put them into the sacks.

Egwene: Ahh. Trapped again by our own stupidity. Home, sweet home.

  • Mat: How am I supposed to help the girls if they insist on putting themselves in danger?

Thoughts?

  • cg12345: I vote for: Mat: "How am I supposed to help the girls if they insist on putting themselves in danger?"

Could someone explain what the difference is between The Kimberly, The Scrappy, and The Load? They seem to overlap a lot.

Prfnoff: A current YKTTW gave a better description, so I put that in. The former description is below; I also cut the page image for being too murky.

A character so idiotic that you really start to hope he or she dies, even though he or she is ostensibly a protagonist. If the character is female, they will be attractive and will show it.

This character is often created by making The Ditz into a Distressed Damsel, combining the worst qualities of both types.
