Working Title: Lost Aesop: From YKTTW

Cassius335: So... how many Broken Aesops are actually Lost Aesops? (and, therefore, ought to be over here?)

Some Guy: Removed the Bowling for Columbine example since it didn't really fit at all. The big selling point of that movie was the fact that Moore didn't really have a solution- he was just observing that Americans seem to be a little more crazy about guns than is healthy. Broken Aesop and Lost Aesop are distinct, I would say in that Lost Aesop usually has some sort of acknowledgment from the author that they forgot what the heck they were doing. Broken Aesop are usually more innocent.

Danel: I agree, and have removed it again.

Shrikesnest: Removed the following:

  • Team America World Police starts out with the satire focused on "Look at those brainless macho thugs who just charge in and blow everything up! They're what's wrong with America! Down with military aggression!", moves on to "Look at those clueless pussies who think you can talk dictators into submission! They're what's wrong with America! Down with inaction!", finally settling on a vague "I guess violence is bad, but when applied in the exact right quantities in the exact right situations it's good?". Fortunately for the film...

The moral of the story is that people who disagree with each other have to work together, because without both peaceable and warlike people we're doomed as a culture. It's really, really obvious. Fully two characters give the speech laying it out in exacting detail, once at the midpoint of the film and again at the ending.

Somebody: Not to be a dick about this, but doesn't this whole Aesop just mean accepting that life isn't black and white? Interesting that it is portrayed as a flaw when an author has shades of grey.
