From YKTTW

This page has made me extremely curious as to the forgotten tropes that are easy to find 'if you know what to look for'. Anyone in the mood to drop in a pointer or two?

Ununnilium: Oh, let's see. For instance, The War Of The Worlds notes that the book is a example of the forgotten Invasion Story genre. Looking it up on Wikipedia gets you this, which cites many different examples. From there, you can Google, for instance, "England Invaded" and get even more.

This enry is begging for some examples. I think if we can get to 3 or 4 it will take off on it's own.

Space Ace: I feel I should point out that the Rags-to-Riches theme dates back to at least Roman times, although they probably handled it differently than people like Dickens.

Twin Bird: Are you sure Rags-to-Riches can even be called discredited, let alone forgotten? At the very least, you can see a lot of send-ups, and I'm pretty sure you could find a few instances using it straight.

Lale: It's still around, but these days, we like turning rags to riches through the sweat of your brow instead of being handed a better life by a fairy godmother.

Stm177: There's a market for bottled brow sweat? Who knew?

Billjac: I'd also say that the popularity of invading Great Britain in every third Dr. Who story is proof that the Invasion Story is still used straight and has no business on this page.

blackcat: I have attempted sorting this page.
Yongary: Removed

since Zombie Apocalypse is practically the oppositeof a Forgotten Trope

Now that we have Day of the Jackboot (and ignoring the massive trope decay in the current examples), does that mean Invasion Story has to be taken off this list? Should we call it a Back From The Dead Trope? —Document N
