Henrikson: "Smart. How long have you had those [tattoos of magical possession protection]?" Sam: "Not long enough.

While demonic possession does happen a lot in Supernatural, I'm not sure this counts as lampshading. Sam has only been possessed once, and Dean not at all. If anything, these tattoos are just a reference to the one time Sam was possessed and they were issued with charms against possession, giving a reason why they have not been and will not be possessed again despite not wearing the charms. And indicating they've been thinking about things. And the scene this dialogue came from was about issuing the other people with charms to stop them being possessed by the demons who at that moment were possessing various other people. So I'm sure there are many tropes in this dialogue, but lampshading doesn't seem to be one of them.

  • The caption under the picture is pretty good, who did it? Whoever did earns my respect.

Earnest: That'd be me. The pic is someone else's though.

Shadow Queen: That's my doing. Thanks for the caption underneath it!

Twilight: and I just cut out the picture due to the MASSIVE! spoiler it gives. May I ask why you thought it was a good idea to put as a picture something the game it's from felt was important enough to black out when a character is learning it so that the player doesn't find out?

Shadow Queen: With all due respect Twilight, the game is 5 years old, I'm afraid that if I am correct, you don't need to worry about Spoiler Tags when a game is 5 years old unless it is given a remake. Last time I checked, Paper Mario: TTYD didn't get a remake.

Daikiwixep: I added a less controversial example in the meantime. Not as well-known as the first one, though it still works. Anyway, demons possessing people tend to be important plot points, so I will advocate the picture I put up as safe and useful. My example is only known to people part of the Puyo Puyo community outside Japan (small and essentially should already know) and given the No Export for You nature of the series (and for the game where my picture happens), I doubt many people will be spoiled. The picture also definitely indicates possession, which is a nice plus.

  • Wow, it seems like that picture is popping up in google.jp search results for Strange Klug...
