The Dating Sim and Visual Novel pages seem to take a pretty harsh view on people who don't understand the difference between a "Dating Sim" and a "Visual Novel." The line:

The Visual Novel is not, contrary to popular belief, a Dating Sim; claiming otherwise is essentially the same as claiming that the Dating Sim is a Role Playing Game.

Is kind of unnecessarily insulting. There is a similar line in the Visual Novel page that links to Fan Dumb. The problem is that the closest things we get here in the states are marketed as RP Gs and pretty much fall into the "JPRG" hole. This just isn't the market for Dating Sims which I know are considerably more popular in Japan. In fact I can only really think of a bare handful off the top of my head in this market that I would definitely consider "Dating Sims."

Maybe changing the lines to something like "Visual Novels and Dating Sims often get confused in non-Japanese markets, where there is relatively little demand for what would strictly be called a Dating Sim game. Games with similar gameplay are available, but are generally lumped into the 'JRPG' along with games that are more appropriately called RP Gs."

Ununnilium: IMHO, we need to move #1 to a different entry. I've never heard this kind of show called a "dating sim". I suggest Matchmaker Game.

Later: Anyone have any objections to the above? ``

Pavlov: I knew this entry looked screwed up but I just couldn't figure out how or how to fix it. Sounds fine to me.

Seth: That sounds reasonable.

Citizen: Does Tsukihime count as a dating sim? I don't think that was the 'point' of the game...

Ununnilium: Visual Novel really needs its own entry, especially as it's a more how-the-game-is-presented thing, as opposed to a genre.

I think Kana Little Sister belongs more under the Visual Novel section than under the Dating Sim section. Anything with just clicking and no stats should go under VN.

SpiriTsunami: Ah, finally, one of these games is actually getting a North American release. Hopefully this will serve to open the floodgates...Let's do this people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

missingno: Many of these contain no "sim" elements, and it's driving me crazy. Is it okay if I fix this?
