Describe Bara Discussion here.

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: Looks clear enough to me — unless the Japanese really doesn't match the English here.

Phernandes: Hard Gay is a type of character found mainly in Japan. Bara is a unique subgenre of Yaoi made by gay men and for gay men that commonly features this type of character, Hard Gay. It has its own characteristics and its own fandom and its own history. That's why i suggest cutting it.

Janitor: So... This link: Bara entry, is set up you can edit the entry, rather than cut.

Phernandes: Done!

Gilgameshkun: Actually, I've always had the impression that Yaoi and Bara are rather separate, mainly through the genders of their creators and of those they appeal to. Yaoi is mainly by women for women with its Mr. Fanservice. Bara is mainly by men for men with its Hard Gay Fan Yay. It might be said that the creators and fans of Bara are the Spear Counterpart to those of Yaoi. Of course there are exceptions — a handful of Bara creators and fans are female (IvyBeth and Dragmire come to mind, especially in some of IvyBeth's older art) — but the vast majority appear to be male, just as the vast majority of people involved in Yaoi are female.
