From YKTTW Working Title: Acceptable Professional Targets

Noimporta: Many of these were taken directly from Acceptable Lifestyle Targets, if you feel the information is wrong bring it to the Discussion page rather than adding Justifying Edits.

Medinoc: How is being a drug dealer a "profession" ? Not to mention it's illegal.

Praetyre: Drug dealers primary occupation for substinence and funds is the commercial sale of illicit drugs. That makes it a profession in my eyes. An assassin is also a profession, and it's illegal. That, and being a drug dealer isn't illegal in some countries (and I'd guess they're still Acceptable Professional Targets there).

  • I'm sorry, but I'm calling bullshit on this entry. There were some fair objections to the inclusion of "drug dealers" while it was still on the old trope - I notice they have been deleted. It's perfectly fair to "peg" drug dealers as bad guys, because they are. They cause thousands of deaths, destroy lives and make a lot of profit which goes to the mob and to criminal gangs. Obviously, a guy selling hashish to his pals isn't Satan (not that he is doing something particularly cool or admirable, though), but "drug dealer" is a much broader term and includes people who are scum and deserve all the contempt they get. Next thing, you'll be complaining that perverts get portrayed in a unflattering light.

    • Does qualification for an "acceptable target" entry have anything to do with whether you approve of the targeting, or of the thing being targeted? In either case, all these pages are bullshit and should be trashed as flamebait. The only way "Acceptable Targets" pages could have any place on this site, I should think, is if things are counted as examples on the basis of their being observably targeted in some cultural milieu or other without much controversy . Your fucking opinions shouldn't matter, nobody reads the articles here to find out what some random Firefly fan thinks about their country's drug laws.

Chocolatepot: Edited Women in the Sex Industry for misogyny. Seriously, guys, ranting about the supposed hypocrisy of feminists IRL doesn't need to go there.

Jordan: I wish it was acceptable to add particular examples, in that Discworld both has Mimes as a target and checks off a lot of items on this list which fall under the general Obstructive Bureaucrat heading.
