- Maybe I'm too familiar with fiction in general, but it seems I can predict what's going to happen in the books WAY before they do. Jim Butcher is telegraphing future events quite clearly. Chekhov's Armoury trope?
- Well, Alera is a pretty Troperiffic series, and one that uses a lot of traditional Heroic Fantasy themes and archetypes, so that's not too surprising. Personally, I think Butcher had the skill to pull it off well, though, IMHO.
