Ununnilium: Moved stuff over from Iron Man.

Ununnilium:
  • Broken Aesop: Weapon dealing is bad, but the American Military is good. In the movie, Tony seems to come to the conclusion that his company should stop selling anybody weapons; although dressing up in Powered Armor and flying to Afghanistan to kill terrorists is fine. Geez, Tony...wouldn't it just be simpler to just sell weapons to the U.S. military while not selling to terrorists? Granted, you were disoriented when you came back from being kidnapped; but you had plenty of time to clarify your position after that. (Of course, it also sets up Obadiah's hostile takeover.)
    • Some of the pretzelling is an attempt not to offend either liberals or conservatives; but it helps that Tony Stark is traditionally contradictory even in the comics. 'Weapons are bad — unless I'm the one firing them!'
      • This is well in line with his overall arrogance. He believes he is smarter than everyone else, and thus can only trust himself with his best and deadliest inventions.
    • Since the U.S. military has a history of selling weapons to people who later pull (from the government's point of view) a Faceā€“Heel Turn, it's really not that simple.
      • Since filming of this movie was Backed by the Pentagon, the US Air Force having donated equipment and technical advice, its not surprising that the script would lack anti-US-military messages.

I'm gonna disagree with all of this. Tony intentionally didn't mind selling weapons to the military. He doesn't mind the US blowing up who he sees as bad guys. The only problem in his mind was that they were getting into other people's hands.

Crazyrabbits: This-

  • Easter Egg: The Blackbird from the X-Men movies is briefly seen on Stark's HUD when he is testing the limits of his suit.
    • No it wasn't. It was a standard Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, which holds several records, including speed and altitude, such as the fasted New York-London trip at 1 hour 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds, and an absolute altitude record of 85,068.997 feet (25,929 m).

Disproven entry. I know you guys go crazy on the wiki when a superhero movie comes out, but check your facts first before you post.

Selasphorus: Removed the Magnificent Bastard trope as applied to Tony Stark.
Grimace: Likewise, removed a Dan Browned entry referring to Iron Man's suit being unrealistic. As no one ever claimed this movie was factual, Dan Browned doesn't apply.
