By everybody else than North Korea's account, including North Koreans who fled the country. And that's not how you spell 'bourgeoisie".
I'm not a troll, just someone who likes to think better than you, probably. Also, trying to support your arguments based on a typo shows a lot how valid they are.

This page shows a lot of information of DPRK and the hypocrisy of media in general. Also, this article: http://www.shoah.org.uk/2014/05/03/my-trip-to-north-korea-13-misconceptions-corrected/
There's a lot a misconceptions about North Korea and plenty of shitty people being paid to tell "horrible stories" of the country. It's common to be afraid of anything related to communism in America, unfortunately.
Edited by Dedars1... okay, you're just making your trolling more obvious.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOk, now it's just "I like to be ignorant for ignorance's sake". I still can't believe this is named "trolling" in a site like TV Tropes. What's next? "Hamas is a terrorist organisation"?
I can't. If "drop it" means "start to spread common sense and misinformation" I really can't, sorry.
I won't discuss anymore, waste of time. However, some links can be useful for those who are capable of discuss and not dishonestly accuse of being a troll. They're in portuguese, though.

Edited by Dedars1We don't speak Portuguese here. So these won't help us at all.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman^^ You're not even making grammatical sense anymore. But fine. I won't believe you're a troll. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you weren't believing the idiocy you're spewing. Because your sources are sheer bunk, your ideas defy all common sense, and there's absolutely no reason to consider your position.
Happy?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Well said. The idea that North Korea is anything other than a brutal regime that's starving its own people and is a terrible blight is complete and utter bullshit. Peddle said bullshit somewhere else, Dedars. Or, better yet, nowhere.
Edited by MrDeath"We don't speak Portuguese here. So these won't help us at all."
A good chance for learn another language.
"You're not even making grammatical sense anymore."
I'm not a native speaker. Is that wrong?
" your ideas defy all common sense"
Thank you very much!
"The idea that North Korea is anything other than a brutal regime that's starving its own people and is a terrible blight is complete and utter bullshit."
Yeah, yeah, so it's been said on USA and republican media on general. Oh well. That's why I hate common sense so much.
Well, we aren't going to learn Portuguese just for this. Please also take note that unless you can convince a sizable world consensus of your viewpoint, we are not going to include any of it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanJust one question: do you believe that HAMAS is a terrorist organisation too?
This is irrelevant and you know it. Don't try to turn this into a topic about Israel and Palestine to vindicate your theory that everyone who disagree with you is a victim of American imperialism propaganda (because that's what you're trying to do, right?). And while the Israel-Palestine conflict has controversial elements on both sides, there is overwhelming evidence of everything NK is accused of. And NK supporting Palestine doesn't change this.
Yes, Dedars1, none of these discussions belong on the wiki (we have a forum for these, although you won't receive any better reception than here if you keep arguing so poorly) and if you keep it up I'll remove your editing access.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCould be worth adding a note that North Korea isn't entirely without friends, supporters and advocates in the wider world, who genuinely do appear to believe it's a maligned workers' paradise: reckoning Dedars 1 might be associated with these interesting people? (Can be said in a neutral way, without passing jusgement on their relationship with reality) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Friendship_Association
Male, early sixties, Cranky old fart, at least two decades behind. So you have been warned. Functionally illiterate in several languages. That sounds acceptable.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)did we forget that the US carpet-bombed the northern half of the korean peninsula, basically scorching/salting the earth up there? one of the biggest reasons they've been so dependent on foreign aid since and been so prone to famine is because their soil was useless for a long time. the other is the sanctions forbidding them from simply importing food.
the kim family and regime is absolutely batshit, but china, russia and the US are all partially to blame for north korean famines.
Edited by oogenesisLet's not forget that North Korea isn't "stuck with Cold War mentality". It still IS in a war against the United States, the country that basically "rules" the world. It's easy call the country a "repressive totalitarian dictatorship" when it isn't your land and people that it's in danger of being attacked by the biggest military power on Earth.
On a sidenote, the article mentions that NK's economy isn't big.
First: Economic growth doesn't necessarily mean good living conditions (try to ask for a raise whenever the economy of the place you live grows)
Second: Even as a poor country, North Korea still has much better living conditions than most countries with the same GDP, especially in Asia. Healthcare, employment, education, etc. They do the best they can in their conditions.
Edited by HenryHFAThe Image link in "Badass Army" was broken when I was reading the article, but after copy-pasting the link directly it worked fine. Used the page history to reverse my edit and the image link worked fine after that. Anyone have any idea why?
Apparently we don't trope IRL subjects, so, as much as we love them, a lot of the tropes on this page will have to go. One potential replacement that had some weight in Ask the Tropers was to trope NK propaganda, since that's effectively fiction anyway.
On another note, a lot of the tropes on this page simply repeat nonsense yellow journalism (Kim Chol probably was not executed by mortar round, Ri Sol-ju didn't have KJU's ex-girlfriend executed) or are out of date (North Koreans are not starving, though it isn't exactly Mccy D's either). A comprehensive rewrite in the Sandbox might be nice.
Schild und Schwert der Partei Hide / Show RepliesTo be fair, there was famine in North Korea. And probably still is, in some areas. But yeah North Koreans, as a whole, do not starve.
Also, some of the stuff described on this page should go to North Koreans With No Dongs.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I'm well aware of the Arduous March. I'm currently working on a revision now.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiWhy has no-one decided to off the oppressive government? Seriously, I'm sick of it

I think it might be worth editing the main example in the Two Decades Behind bit. The trope is more about media having the feel or the tropes of decades gone by. North Korea is no doubt rich pickings for this trope- and the best we can do is out-of-date military hardware?
Yes we all know how bad it is in NK.
But all these "evil" tropes don't apply to people in RL, they probably shouldn't apply to a country. I agree with then, but it makes the page look like it was written by a pro American, no matter how true it is.
The world isn't ready for giant T4 combustion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GbpGiYmBSs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKm9 Hide / Show RepliesPointing out the massively apparent flaws in one government doesn't automatically make you a supporter of another.
Unless someone has a very good excuse for it, I think the last sentence should be deleted from this paragraph:
"Whilst its portrayal as the Card-Carrying Villain of world politics is frequently played for laughs, it may do you good to recall that this country is indeed home to 25 million people. So, rule of cautious editing very much applies. EDIT: Never mind, TV Tropes is blocked in North Korea."
I think that proclaiming the North Koreans collectively guilty for having a shitty government is immoral and in poor taste. Mocking the leadership is OK, but mocking the North Korean people as a whole is not. It's equivalent to saying All Germans Are Nazis.
Hide / Show RepliesIt used to say something about how editors should remember to have some pity for the millions of people who live in wretched conditions in NK, and therefore not make too much light of their situation. I much preferred that version, I don't know why it was changed.
At the Olympics, the North Korean women's football team were mistakenly identified with the South Korean flag. They were understandably angry, and walked off the field delaying kick off for an hour. Surely there's a trope we can add that under?
Hide / Show RepliesI'm taking this off:
- Even Evil Has Standards | Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming: They, like most of the rest of the world, were horrified by the 9/11 attacks on America and offered condolences.
Only a completely naive person would believe that the North Korean government cared. It was a cheap political move, and what they do to their own citizens is far worse than any terrorist attack.
Hide / Show RepliesYou're probably right, and i don't disagree with taking it down, but it is possible for evil motherfuckers to have a degree of honor. Kim may have found the attack on civilians, if nothing else, not very pragmatic. Could. i doubt it though.
...not sure what to put here, really.Considering that North Korea would likely immediately attempt to attack civilian locations in the event of a war with South Korea and their own abuse and murder of their citizens to an almost obscene level, I don't think the government thinks much of civilian casualties.
Oh hai TV Tropes
Why North Korea is described as a "totalitarian nightmare"? What proof (and by proof I mean "not a cheap lying attack of burgeoise media) do you have that North Korea is this?
