I removed these Zero Context Example s. Before restoring them, please carefully read the current trope description, make certain these are valid examples, and write descriptions explaining how each work uses the trope.
- Adam Trask from East of Eden.
- Detective Albert Campion.
- Older Than Television with The Scarlet Pimpernel: Sir Percy Blakeney is the Ur-Example and originator of the trope.
- Zorro: Don Diego de la Vega.
- The Nightwatchman (really Maid Marian) in the 2006 BBC version of Robin Hood.
- Tessa Alvarado from Queen of Swords.
- Thunderbirds:
- The Tracys
- Lady Penelope
- In the "Super Chicken" segments on George of the Jungle, Henry Cabot Henhouse III.
- Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: The Blue Falcon was an art dealer named Radley Crown.
I removed these examples because they have no sources. Does anyone recognize them?
- Mercedes Lackey's Lord Peter Almsley is probably an Expy of Lord Peter Wimsey.
- Simon Templar, aka The Saint. He's an Uncle Penny Bags, Gentleman Adventurer, and something of a playboy. He is, however, no more an idiot than Lord Peter Wimsey is.
"Most common with Badass Normal heroes; it's not that superpowered heroes couldn't use the fortune and the free time, but Cosmic Balance seems to say that you can't have both. Narratively speaking, for these characters, having massive wads of cash to blow on designing and building things like a Grappling-Hook Pistol is their superpower."
Okay, so you can't have both actual superpowers and be filthy rich. In the Backyard Sports fanfic The Secret Life Of The Backyard Kids, Jorge (yes, him) has both. Is that okay? Or is he just a God-Mode Sue?
Edited by rosebud64 Tropes which apply to rosebud64: Expy: In the movie Im making, the Backyard kids are portrayed acting like famous rock musicians.I removed the line at the bottom of the description linking to The Ernest. I don't know which trope the person who added it was going for, but nobody can be The Ernest since it refers a person who doesn't actually exist.
Credits to Slightly Damned for the avatar.
