I know Ho Yay is a YMMV trope, but... Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo? Really? Really?

This used to be at the top of the page:

Context: Because without it MLP is a show about 5 lesbian ponies, a pimp named Spike and a pink serial killer.
YouTube commenter on a certain scene in "Lesson Zero".

but was removed because one editor couldn't see what it had to do with the content of the page.

The quote is a bit of humor, and the point behind it is that Ho Yay moments in the show are almost always the result of characters' actions being taken out of context by fans; indeed, fans deliberately present images or clips from the show with the context stripped. There are also a lot of such moments, the show being a goldmine for fans of Ho Yay.

Since this page is largely a bit of light fun, I think the quote is appropriate to the tone. I'd like to bring it back.

ETA: Ah, sorry, I missed PacificGreen's post about this below.

ETA again: I've restored the quote for now.

  • Pinkie tries to liven up the Grand Galloping Gala in "The Best Night Ever" with a spinoff of the American circle dance "Hokey Pokey" known to elementary grade schoolers, "Pony Pokey". The song doesn't define how the hokey-pokey move goes but everyone improvises with a shake. It is a hypothesis that the proto-hokey-pokey in-out dances are intended to be skill pageants to show who is good at lovemaking wherefrom dancers can choose such partners. The arketýpe hokey-pokey represents foreplay and the derivative hanky-panky*, or horizontal hokey pokey, represents mating. If it weren't already open, "Pony Pokey" introduces dating. At the scene's denouement Pinkie shoves her hind under Frederick Horseshoepin's and humps it then grabs Octavia Melody's fiddle and fiddles with her by her crotch.
*deconvoluted history

I feel that while the examples are legit, the entry, poetically the lablenote, it hard to understand due to all the jargon and reliance on links. Any ways or need to fix it?

I'm sorry, but I have never heard of this theory, and I'd bet 99% of the American population hasn't either. It seems bogus; unless I missed something, even the Wikipedia link doesn't talk about any sexual meaning to the song. The entry looks like one troper's (frankly bizarre) pet theory. I'm willing to accept a linked credible source, but unless one is provided, I think this entire entry needs to go.

I personally think the quote fits the page. I think it should have stayed, to be honest.

Is it just me, or does the picture overlap the tabs? This isn't a problem anywhere else on this wiki. Is it fixable?

Without Context, so much Rarity Shiptease with Applejack, Twi, and Dashie.

Okay, almost all of the "Pinkie Pie has a crush on Twilight" section seems like a massive case of Shipping Goggles to me. Stuff like "Pinkie goes to Twilight for advice" and "Pinkie holds Twilight's opinion in high regard" don't really have anything to do with shipping. The only example in that entire section that really fits is the one where Pinkie nuzzles Twi. If nobody objects I'm going to cut the rest of those examples, because most of them seem to be real stretches.

I maintain that the Holmes/Watson roleplay, complete with role exchanging and pipe-sharing (even if Twi did wipe it off), is a valid argument. Also the massive SHOCK take at first sight is arguable to some folks, so leave that one be too.

If anything I think the fact that Twilight wiped it off goes the other way, but I guess that Sherlock and Watson are kinda known for the massive Ho Yay, so I'll leave that one alone unless somebody else complains about it. Everything else is going to go.

Hopefully this should stem some of the Edit Warring going on in the Radar Page -_-

Isn't most of this just fans having dirty minds?

Isn't the magic of subtext amazing? And yes, us fans are naughty, but that's about par for the course.

Also, the Les Yay implications are surprisingly strong in some of these canon scenes.
