Good question. Maybe create a separate page for it? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15654830560A87455000 would be a good place to discuss it, I think.
Looks like that may end up being the case. For one thing, can't exactly sort gods by classes if classes are being removed.
Well, this may be just me but is it all right if we just mix the Slavic, Voodoo and Polynesian pages into ONE page: OTHER Pantheons? When they get crowded, then we can split it again.
I'm saying this because they struck again with the 99th and 100th 'Gods'... It's King Arthur and Merlin.
Edited by ChrisX Hide / Show RepliesThis is late, but I personally don't mind. TBH it kinda irks me. As you said, it can be split if more charas to those pantheons are added. Though I'm not sure how much weight my opinion carries since I'm really new.
Sky DiamondWhat do other people think of giving the lore-exclusive characters their own page like the creatures? The section's quite long and there's still charas to be added. I'm planning on adding more, but I'd rather do it after the transfer to make it easier. It could be divided by pantheon like the P Cs are (except on one page obviously). I also feel dividing the charas up will make it easier to track which of them come from which mythology. The list probably needs to be alphabetized and since it's not, I'm unsure of where to put new charas.
Sky DiamondWhy do it needs to delete SMITE's characters' lore ? It's not copy-pasted from their sites, it was written in author words and there were always in-universe conclusion about why the characters are joining the battle. This is not in their lore videos (some even don't have) nor their lore text from the sites. That's why I liked TV Tropes' SMITE page, even I joined for that, because there was always something new to the character's bio, it was different from their official lore posted in the wikis. Also the reason for deleting ( a discussion) is about another game. I propose to bring back the old lores. There is no sense to write new texts as it has already good ones.
Hide / Show RepliesA lot of them used to be copy-pasted from the Gamepedia. We'll still be working on filling in the blanks.
Edited by ChrisXAs SMITE has a giant number of non-playable characters that pass by names or species, also that are lore-accurate,if no one minds I'm going to make a category about these characters.Ex:Egyptian creatures > Apophis
Edited by Khnum3I am thinking to add The Ghost characters. Characters that are mentioned in lores and playing some sort of 'role', but not playable yet. I could include the likes of Hun-Apuh or Juno or Nut.
For now I'll be putting them into the general character list, but if the section gets too big, I will move them to the respective pages.
I'm not sure if the characterization of the comics are official things. There's a lot that clashes with the in-game personalities. It's not just Hades being The Starscream:
- Anubis suddenly speaks in Third-Person Person. He doesn't act like that in-game.
- Loki seems less thrilled in bringing about Ragnarok, admonishing Hel for it, when in-game, he's more than eager to bring about Ragnarok.
- And that brings in about Hel, it's like their personalities are in-tandem together instead of bickering at each other.
Does anyone mind if we differentiate between the actual game and the comic? With that much liberties, it doesn't look official.
Does anyone mind if I add up hidden notes about the Roman names of the Greek Gods here and the Greek names of the Roman Gods here? Just for reference, for those who aren't really initiated with the actual myth.
I'd do it, but if it's not OK, feel free to remove.
Hide / Show RepliesIt should be fine so long as their other names are used, for instance Mercury is referred to as Hermes in the comic book.
I'm doing another round through the character pages. Not only am I removing "-type" (since it's kinda poor English), but I'm also adding in intro descriptions like you'd see with the other major MOB As. Several gods already have something like this (Janus, Guan Yu, Kukulkan, etc.), but I'm trying to bring the rest of the gods in line.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. In particular, I have no idea what to say for Vamana, Vulcan, and Osiris.
So currently the "Character" tab next to each Pantheon link lists each god within it as they are listed in the page itself, which is alphabetical for each class. However, I think it'd read a bit better if it was just done alphabetically for the entire pantheon. Anyone object?
Hide / Show RepliesI'm torn on this "Unreleased Gods" section on the bottom of the page. On one hand, Smite is pretty unique among others in the genre in how easy it is to datamine what gods are coming out months before release. However, I'm not sure if it counts as spoiler territory, and right now the section seems to be nothing but speculative clutter. I'd personally remove it entirely, but I want to be sure the rest of you are cool with that before I do so. Last thing I want is a senseless edit war.
Edited by Watchtower Hide / Show RepliesIf this last April Fool's joke proves anything, it's that we can't take everything the dataminers say at face value. And we already know from Medusa that what pops up in datamining can differ greatly from the final product. So I'm going to remove this section now.
I'd say keep it, but put a note for it saying "everything in this section is subject to change" or something.
Not to be a dilweed but why are two separate Pantheons on one page? Shouldn't it be separated by Pantheon instead?
Edited by BlackSunNocturne Hide / Show RepliesMy thinking was that if it was just individual pantheons each individual page would be too small to justify having to go load up a different page for each one
At some point we may have to divide them by individual pantheons, but that's a few years and a lot of gods off.
Edited by NaraNumasAbout 2 gods every month, and the Celtic pantheon is starting soon.
I think that point may be sooner than you think
Edited by BlackSunNocturneI'd say it's all right if we just go ahead and separate based on the Pantheons themselves. I know the Hindu Pantheon is kind of lacking at the moment but I know Hi-Rez would fill it up one day.
I mean, look at the Character Pages at Tekken, really. A few pages only has one or two characters and we're OK with that.
On a pure "usability" perspective, the clusters feel arbitrarily designated and are thus needlessly confusing. The game already splits the gods up into separate pantheons. No reason why our character page can't do the same.
I mean, I made separate entries for the World of Tanks "character" pages, and there's very little tropes there yet.
So, yeah.
I'd rather have the pages be separated by specific Pantheon.
Having some issue editing the page
I'm trying to add this:
Hates Everyone Equally: Medusa doesn't make it any secret that she despises every god, regardless of who they are or what they've done, and if the war didn't give her the chance to strike at Athena, she wouldn't even be here. This is best exemplified with her voice pack, her "You Rock!" quote is a threat to kill the person before they're a threat.
But for some reason every time I hit save it just doesn't stick, it's really weird considering I can edit other segments fine
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, this page is too large. 647733 characters. I'll lock it to prevent further blow-ups. I'll post it in Overly Long Pages as well.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm not sure how Pungeon Master should go on Ra. Should it be a YYMV trope or a trope on his main sheet? And if the latter's the case, should I add it to anyone else?
This is the greatest signature ever. Gaze upon its glory. Hide / Show RepliesI believe Pungeon Master is a character trope, so it would go under Ra
Unlike League of Legends, a character here is defined by their Pantheon origin. So if no one minds, I'm going to categorize the Gods based on their Pantheons. Just in case we may need to split one day. Also will also separate further for classes.
With it being public knowledge that Smite 2 will come with changes to god kits, how should we handle any differences that come up?
