Faux Action Girl: Ryoko
Ryoko is all hyped as being the combat wombat, but so far she's batting zero. The only critter she's ever even hit is Yuki and Yuki was intentionally distracting Ryoko to gain time for her reality check to clear the memory bank.
This can only be averted if Kyon himself has some huge power that he's not letting on about.

As said before, the fact that she is unsuccessfull has no link to the fact that she can kick some puny earthlings ass. And even then, she is never hyped as a combat wombat outside the fandom. She is no Action Girl.
"Kuyou was monstrous enough for having the reflexes to stop that lightspeed knife in midair, but Asakura was more terrifying still. Just how much kinetic energy had she placed behind that knife? I didn't want to think about it."
What's the trope for ignoring the narrator?

What's the trope for not reading the definition of a trope ? Her major characteristic isn't the can-fight-and-takes-names-thingy... No, In-Universe, the characters know Ryoko because she is a Knife Nut Girl with Psycho Weapon. She is never known as an Action Girl/Dark Action Girl before and after The Reveal. Maybe you mean that she is victim of the Worf Effect ?

Well, Kyon is no Action Girl/Action Hero. :p And Ryoko is maybe a Enemy Mine, but she doesn't fight/takes part of the action on a regular basis, she is a Single Target Killer.
