The indexes seem to completely break whenever one of the index links is over 64 characters long. I think this glitch deserves a mention, for when shows with recap pages have an episode with a Long Title.
Edited by PantaroPI created a new page on the index Future Card Buddyfight but each time I go to the actual page Future Card Buddyfight Ace it says the page is not indexed.
The episode pages listed in Steven Universe's recap page were marked as indexed under it but have since been claiming to all be unindexed since the recent overall of the web site's design.
I added the page Haunted Mansion And The Hatbox Ghost to the index of Multiple Media fanfics, but it doesn't work, even though I did make a blank edit and checked that the link worked, as advised by the pageโฆ Can someone do anything about it ?
Hide / Show RepliesThat page was not an index. I've remedied that issue.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDone.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman- I added something to an index/turned a page into an index, but it's not working: First, always make a blank edit on the problematic index page. If that doesn't work, check that the link(s) you added are working links and that you've set the page type of the index correctly.
This point doesn't really specify what a "blank edit" actually is. I assume it's when you make an edit but don't actually change anything, but that's not a very intuitive definition and the term's never really explained anywhere, so it's bound to confuse people.
I recently referred to the same thing as a "null edit", and even then I felt obligated to explain what it was.
I can't seem to find the Set a page type. I was triying to make Masters Of Sex as an index. Is it only me who can find that "Set a page type" button ?
Hide / Show RepliesDid it for you. It's moderator only for a while.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow do you de-index pages that shouldn't be an index? For example, Amnesiac is currently acting as an index for all the tropes on the album, even though it shouldn't be. I used to fix things like that through the "set page type" button, but I can't find that anymore.
Hide / Show RepliesBy asking a moderator for now. And done.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe button for changing page types (except for pages with no type) seems to be missing. Hmm. Well, I need to change Web Comics to be able to do indexing, but it's already been listed as a Just For Fun page, no indexing. Help?
Hide / Show RepliesChanged the type.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSorry if this is a dumb post, but I can't seem to find the button that lets me change the page type to allow me make an index. I've looked under the tools menu and I can't seem to find it. Am I just blind?
Hide / Show RepliesNo, it's ben hidden for a while. Which page are you trying to change?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI was looking at the page The Cosmere. I was editing it and noticed that it had an index in the page, but the works weren't actually being indexed. I removed the lines for the index because they didn't seem to be working, so they aren't there any longer. I was wondering if it was not set as an index page, and if that was why the index wasn't showing up.
Edited by BeskarKomrkI've turned your page there into an index.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDitto for Sliders, it is a list of episodes. Can you please turn it into an index?
Edited by SeptimusHeapAdded a link to your post. And done.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe process of indexing doesn't work for me. I just created a "Heartwarming" page for "Liv and Maddie," and the instructions on how to index them don't tell me anything.
Hide / Show RepliesYou need to find a suitable index page to add it to.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNoob alert.
I'm having problems indexing a WMG page, and even after re-reading the How to, I still don't seem to make it work
Hide / Show RepliesCheck out what I did on this page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFor some reason, none of the pages under Tout le Monde are indexed... The page type IS set to "index", and the "does indexing" checkbox checked, though... Same problem with its "subindexes" (such as Animation Occidentale). So what's wrong ?
Edited by 88.167.208.44 Hide / Show RepliesSeems like a tech bug. That may be discussion for the Wiki Tech Wish List.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI have been trying to index Thriller, but for some reason, it's not working. I don't get it. Horror is indexed, tragedy is indexed. I used the same process of indexing for thriller as used in the others, but for some reason, it's not being indexed. Why? What am I doing wrong?
Hide / Show RepliesYou forgot to check the "does indexing" page type box. Fixed.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. On the Babylon Five recap index, it has all the episodes there, but a lot of them don't have the index bar at the bottom. Is there something we need to do to make it appear?
I just noticed a bunch of pages have been indexed under burnspy's troper page, even without the index markup.
Does anyone know if the "levelpc.es" link is meant to be on the page? It looks like it was spammed there, but it could just as easily be a dead link to a noob like me. Thank you for reading.
I'm having trouble indexing my new Monsters Resurrected page. It was on the index page before I created it.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.Responding to clarification request.
Add the page title to an index page. That's really all there is to it.
The rest of the stuff is about creating an index page.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty Hide / Show RepliesSee, I think I did that. When I go through the Contributor's index I can find my page easily. I selected a page type as well but when I'm on my page it says I need to add it to an index so I'm really confused.
A bug in the punctuated title parsing code. Your contrib page is all indexed up, now.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyNoob alert.
I can't figure out how to index my troper page, and it doesn't show up on the contributors list. I'm new here, and I'm not good with computers, so I'm a teeny bit lost. Sorry to bother you.
I love books, and I'm addicted to the Internet. How could I not be on TV Tropes?Hey, I'm having trouble indexing Sumomo Mo Momo Mo in Manga. I figure it's either a problem with alternate titles or the fact that this cold has brought my IQ down to that of a carrot. Can someone help a bro out of the crisper?
Hide / Show RepliesCan it be assumed that the Contributors Index is not meant to be editable by anyone? Or am I missing something? That is, is the method of indexing a troper page different somehow?
Edited by Turtle (ยด・ω・`) Hide / Show RepliesI think it autoindexes now, based on the pages in the Tropers namespace. If you just made your page you may have to wait until tomorrow for it to show up.
Edited by lebrel Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. So, if I made a page today, it could just automatically be put into the index?
As long as you made it in Tropers/PoptartTan.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyHello. I'm trying to make an index out of the Power Rangers page, so as to link together all of its seasons under it. But I seem to be having some trouble with it - I tried following the Super Sentai model, but somehow it didn't work. Also, I couldn't wrap my brain around the way the Sentai index is structured, because of the [[index]] potholes in the middle of the list. Example:
Know what I mean? I'd like to know how to make this work to my advantage in the PR page. Thanks in advance.
Edited by AndyLA One Nation Under WiFi Hide / Show RepliesYou had most of it. Just needed to set the page type to 'index'. The tool to do that is on the Tools menu on the left of the wiki pages.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyPosting here because I'm not sure I'm allowed to edit the main page: a request for clarification in the main page's text. The link to the indexed page must be directly to the indexed page, not to a redirect.
I had a lot of trouble getting Let's Mock The Monsters to register with the Webcomic Tropes index this morning, and it turned out that the problem was that instead of linking to ptitlet43mu4du (which is the page's "real" URL thanks to the apostrophe in "Let's"), the index was linking to LetsMockTheMonsters, which is a redirect page. So the index was listing the page, but the page was claiming that it needed to be indexed.
Edited by EtherjammerSo what is happening when you have a page that says it needs to be indexed, but you go to the index page, and it's already there? Case in point: Aeon Entelechy Evangelion
Is this particular one because the individual folders on the Character Sheets page need to be indexed?
Edited by Willbyr Hide / Show RepliesI think the thing is if you add a page to an index and then create the page, based on my experience creating the Sime Gen page just now, you have to put the page on the index AFTER you have created the page, or add it before and then resave the index page.
Otherwise the created page doesn't know it is on the index.
I'm not sure enough of my facts here to change the main page, but this could be clearer.
Edited by CptButtonI have to ask that there should be a new way to index pages. I am not a fan of having to say pages are an index even if they are meant for other purposes. For a recent example, check out Statler And Waldorf. That's a Just for Fun page, and yet it also was an index previously. I just put it back to an index page, even though it should be both.
What can be done?
Hide / Show RepliesHmm. I guess it is true that "index" is different thing from the other pages types and that most of the page types could also be an index. We'll see about making the "setter" able to handle both at once.

How do I index a Korean Online game called Pop Stage? Especially in Awesome Music section? I still don't understand how to index it...
