Do work pages for released works even get Darth Wiki subpages? Especially when the main purpose of this page seems to just be spoiling the Surprise Creepy twist with a massively-spoilered plot synopsis. If it's the same game, then it shouldn't have its content split into two pages. It's deceptive. We don't do this to Doki Doki Literature Club!.

Oh, yeah, this is an artifact of the ancient days when any game with Surprise Creepy would rip off the gimmick of the Eversion article while completely missing the reason that it works (which is that Eversion itself works that way)

Ai to Yuuki to Kashiwa Mochi (same creator, huh) used to do it too, and has since been removed. And in all honesty, we wouldn't be against merging Eversion too, but it at least has a reason for the gimmick.

I joined in early 2008 and I only recall seeing that Eversion's pages did that. I think it's safe to call it Early-Installment Weirdness.

Disregarding the fact that Irisu Syndrome! doesn't work the way Eversion does in terms of gameplay, I think it's worth pointing out that it has a Darth Wiki companion page without having one on Sugar Wiki, when the Eversion pages' gimmick was based on the fact that it was on both at the same time instead of just one or the other. (Edit from April 7: Fixed a bizarre typo here.)

Not too long ago (a year or two ago, I think), I recall a Darth page for a webcomic replacing what was the main work page, since the Darth page was fleshed-out and described the comic in a straightforward way while the main page was a barebones attempt at a Self-Demonstrating Article.

Edit: This page was what I was referring to in the third paragraph.

If you think these are bad, just check out Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby. I don't think anything there came from the actual work; it all looks like something between Fanon and Memetic Mutation.

Maybe a short-term cleanup is in order.

I thought I saw something on the forums recently suggesting that the main page for that game is also pretty much just fanon and Memetic Mutation already? (And TBF I doubt anyone would have bothered making a page for it were it not for how memetically difficult it is for a game based on Winnie the Pooh.)

I can't imagine why that Darth Wiki page even needs to exist.

I'd rather have the Darth Wiki page on that Winnie the Pooh game and cut the others. It'll work as a repository to put all the dark meme stuff and it's funny to see how people turn a kiddy game into an edgy Lovecraft thing. (FYI, I played it and got far enough to beat Rabbit and I saw some of the memes, so I have prior knowledge).

That isn't the point of Darth Wiki, though. If we really need to, we can put it on the YMMV page under Memetic Mutation

I don't think it has a defined point, it's mostly seen as a Darker and Edgier side of the wiki, though most of the pages are either joke edgy stuff or complaining that wouldn't be put on a YMMV page. Besides, we can always change it if needed.

Darth Wiki namespace can be used for Just For Fun in certain cases, right? So this can go there. However, to get back on the main topic, these split work pages shouldn't exist. They should be one unified page. If they have to have a split, it should be sugar/darth, not darth/main or sugar/main. The main page should represent the work as accurately as possible.

I know that the main page should represent the work as accurately as possible, I'm not denying that. that is the reason why I believe Darth Wiki pages for those works should be cut and for Pooh should be kept, as in the case of them, all of them make it impossible to cover the work accurately, while with Pooh, the Darth Wiki stuff is mostly invented and not keeping it on the main page won't result in it being troped less accurately, and in actuality, likely more so. In that one case, the "either all three pages or only one" mentality should not be necessary.

^ No, I agree with you there. Pooh is a different case than the OP issue because the stuff troped on Darth Wiki is memes and fanon, which of course doesn't belong in the main page. In the video games' case, it's canonical game content, which should go on the main page.

So what should we do regarding Irisu? Is this something we start a cleanup thread for?

I believe a cleanup thread made to merge both pages together sounds like a good idea.

Wiki Talk might be a better place for discussing Darth Wiki and Sugar Wiki offshoots of works pages, in addition to how to decide standards for Just for Fun in general.

As for whether Darth can be used for Just for Fun, that's already done for DarthWiki.Tropes That Will Never Happen and DarthWiki.Crappy Trope Definitions.

(On top of Darth Wiki Just for Fun pages, SugarWiki.Better Than It Sounds is a Just for Fun page on Sugar Wiki, and it has a Darth counterpart in the form of DarthWiki.Worse Than It Sounds.)

So should we make a Wiki Talk/cleanup thread?

(Sorry if I sound impatient or obtuse or anything by the way, this is my first time handling something like a cleanup effort...)
