I would think they'd stick with Ashe and guywhoisactuallykindacoolbuthejustisnotashe. If they throw two new protagonists into every game the cast would inflate pretty quickly! Unless the series got cancelled after two installments, but that would just be silly.

ZX would not be the only installment cancelled after only two (or, well, three in the other two cases) installments. :/

The problem with ZX is that it operates on the Schrödinger's Player Character principle in that only one pair of the stories is canon. There's evidence that the other protagonist exists at the same time (for example, Ashe's story features a ruined version of Grey's intro stage from when he fought the first boss [which might imply that Grey died in Ashe's story; the same most likely applies in reverse for Grey's story] and Aeolus' cipher features both Vent and Aile), but there's no way Vent and Aile could have received Models X and Z at the same time and same applies for Grey and Ashe in regards to Model A. If anything, they'd probably be better off sticking with the Aile/Grey line. IMO, Vent/Ashe had more to do with the characters' personal development than with the Myth Arc at large.

Still, Model Z goes missing at the end of ZXA (assuming the Enemy Mega Man didn't somehow destroy/incapacitate him). That's one Sequel Hook right there, and there's at least 3-4 from ZXA alone.

Come to think of it, the next game could even feature the Enemy Mega Men. Seeing as ZX runs on White-and-Grey Morality anyway, maybe they could show the story from their perspective. Let us see how they tick more easily. One's a Social Darwinist. One's a Blood Knight with shades of Social Darwinist and Well-Intentioned Extremist. One's a Well-Intentioned Extremist and Friendly Enemy to Grey/Ashe. And one is Siarnaq.

Who'd be the main protagonist of the next ZX game? Some kid who comes across Model Z?
I've had a ZX sequel idea which was basically this.

The use of Bakugan props had me laughing a bit

I... didn't know they were from that.

I don't think I used Cinnamon much anyway, so I'm not sure I noticed how grating her personality possibly is/was

I never used Cinnamon; I was talking more about how she's portrayed in cutscenes. Spider/Marino were kickass, though.

Concerning Command Mission, I was always extremely boring and took X, Zero and Axl with me.

Are... are you me? I never swapped that trio out. It just felt wrong, man. That and I thought (and still think) they were all awesome.

I guess it's thanks to those two bossbattles occuring back-to-back without any healing inbetween.

Hm... the only two I can think of are Dr. Psyche/Mad Nautilus and Scarface/Epsilon/Eject Epsilon . Both are brutal, and I only got past the first one the first time round due to getting insanely lucky with Spider's Action Trigger and getting RSF.

"Us scientists have a nasty bite!"

Alternatively: "You'll never beat my evolved form!"

ZXA fixed pretty much all the problems I had with ZX, sooo... more. More bosses, bigger levels, stronger weapons and a heap of Continuity Nods.

This, basically.

Who'd be the main protagonist of the next ZX game? Some kid who comes across Model Z?

Perhaps that, although I'd prefer a continuation of Vent/Aile and Ashe/Grey's storylines. I've got a feeling the Aile/Grey storyline's canon though, for much the same reasons as X2X.

Come to think of it, the next game could even feature the Enemy Mega Men.

Hilariously enough, there was a April Fools ZX game that starred seemingly older versions of them. Megaman ZX: Axess File was what it was called.

I will give Capcom my undying loyalty if a third ZX game ever comes out. I know it's unlikely to happen at this stage, but a man can dream...

Speaking of the Enemy Mega Men, my favourites were probably Aeolus and Atlas, although I found Siarnaq's Robo Speak/Creepy Monotone kind of endearing in a bizarre way. But hell, I liked all of them and kind of wished they got more screen time.

And then Siarnaq goes bonkers (in Japanese) if he defeats you in his boss battle.

I'm curious about how to find that C&D'd Roll game.

Though, I'm not sure if you can post it in the thread.

Crapcom does it again. Well, to be fair, I suppose it was in Development Hell for some time, and given their record for Mega Man...

Yeah I guess Mega Man is dead. Shame, I would have liked to see an 11. Well I guess this solidifies that I'll never buy a Capcom game again.

I shed tears, although I never expected it to leave Korea anyways.

'Tis a grim time to be a megafan.

Wasn't neowiz a part of the S 4 League setup though? I can't really hate a company that brought me that...

Guys, I think you're being a tad melodramatic. It is a shame that yet another Megaman thing has been cancelled, true, but (at least for me) I don't think Rockman Online was ever a major thing, if that makes sense.

@Model C/K(raft):

I'm not sure what to think about such an idea. On the one hand Kraft was a supreme badass (and his boss theme, Power Field, is still one of my all-time favourites due to the awesome riffs) but at the same time I got the impression that the only Biometals ever created were those of X, Zero, and Weil, along with the Four Guardians.

Still, he'd (kind of) have more reason than, say, Bass*

to be immortalised as a Biometal, though.

Also, I can't believe the Megaman fanbase right now. They're so interested in whining about every minute problem, they can't see the good in anything. ANYTHING.

Can you give us some examples of good? I'd honestly like to hear them. The only thing currently being released that I think is worth buying is the Archie comics. And I can't even get those where I live.

[up][up] Well, they're getting a new game. A new game in a stream of cancellations is certainly something. The game is also a crossover between all the Megamen of the past.

Instead, they see the platform and genre and initiate entitlement mode, just as they've done this entire year, despite the fact that Megaman has had several different genres in the past, including 2d RPG and Board Game! But no, they just want to whine to their black heart's content, so they completely forget that they're getting a game PERIOD!

[up][up] Not getting my hopes up on that one. Probably something that ties into Xover or some minor thing like a new figure or something. I encourage capcom to prove me wrong though. Another anniversary collection would be awesome, especially if it fixed the glaring problems with the later X games.

[up] I'd love to play a Mega Man RPG that crosses all the Mega Men together. However, from what has been released of the IOS game (A system I couldn't get it on even if I wanted to) we have two buttons, cruddy graphics and an emphasis on bugging your friends. Not the best first showing.
