Hmmm... Battle Royale, maybe? (The book.)
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeablePlayed the other Shifts yet? It just gets Mind Screw-ier as you go on...
oh, that's why I need this binary mind // ⌘^^^I have; it's even filed on my Troper page under "Stuff I Like."
^For any fan of Quentin Tarantino, there's Guy Ritchie's first two movies Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.
I've already seen both.
If you like BrassEye, try seeing if you can find episodes of Have I Got News For You, Dead Ringers and Mock The Week. They're our best satirical news related comedy shows.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerTry the Dirk Gently series.
(Sean - In The Mouth Of Madness as we speak! )
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIf you want to recommend Battle Royale (the book), I'd recommend to you The Long Walk, one of those novels Stephen King wrote under the pseudonym "Richard Bachman."
Personally, Battle Royale (the book) was something I liked when I was 16 years old and couldn't believe how the narration sounded by the time I was 20. Maybe something is lost in the English translation over time, but the attitude of a good Stephen King tale never shows age.

I was just trying to think of something similar to Lord Of The Flies, really...
In The Mouth Of Madness was amazing. Have you read much of Jorge Luis Borges? It reminded me a lot of his Tloen, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableGlad you enjoyed In The Mouth Of Madness. I'll have to check out this Jorge Luis Borges guy though.
Are you familiar with Philip K Dick though, by any chance? You look like someone who would want to read a book like Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep.
I think you would like The Eddie Dickens trilogy, by Phillip Ardagh, Sean Murray I.

Tell me, have you read much of Terry Pratchett...?
(Tre: I have indeed finished the Shift series. )
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableYou seem like the kind of guy/girl who might like We're Alive.
Even if you don't think it's that great, I'll just leave it here anyway 'cause it Needs More Love.
May I recommend Irresponsible Captain Tylor?

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold. You liked Next, but you don't show any love for Minority Report?
Eh... check out... Commando. So Bad, It's Good, right?
I recommend either the works of Chuck Palahniuk or Heathers.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Based on your list of anime and films, I believe you would appreciate Paranoia Agent.
I mentioned it by editing the post you replied to, much as I'm doing here. Also, have read and loved that particular trilogy. Need a new copy. Timothy Zahn FTW.

You didn't mention your thoughts on Terry Pratchett, so I'll skip over that for now... What about The Thrawn Trilogy?
@ Fuschlatz: Zombies don't really impress me much, I'm afraid. Or, well, not afraid, I should say.
