I might post a new installement or two tonight, but I really don't like the odds of it happening until late tomorrow.

I'd really like to take a break from romantic and ero teasing afterwards with some action-fighting oriented stuff, but the problem is that doesn't lend itself to short takes without a backstory to support and explain the battles, and that might take more time than I've got right now.

An idea I've had lately about a multipart series, however, is a What If playing with the idea of ALL of 2-A, and not only Asuna (although no one from outside the class) watching Negi using magic to save Nodoka at the start of the manga. Just imagine how would that change all the status quo.

The first thing that came to my mind was Kazumi, as soon as she sees that, turning around to run away with a 'I have to tell this to EVERYONE!' only to have Misora panicking (after all, if magic is revealed, HER OWN secret is at risk too), sprinting after her and tackling her down before she gets to anyone. And then Ayaka pretty much threatens to beat Kazumi to a pulp if she tells any soul, LOL.

I have played with a few ideas for the chapters after that... they all agree to keep on the secret, but it's both a hindrance and an edge for Negi. He has much more help available now, but the girls are, overall, also much more overbearing, and some even ask for cheating help with problems like the dodgeball game and the Library Island quest.

I wouldn't try to deviate that much from canon at the Eva and Kyoto arcs, but there might be a huge canon-twisting spin for the Festival Arc and beyond. If I ever get to start the whole thing in the first place.

Man, that would take some Contrived Coincidence Up To Eleven to get all of them within clear visual and hearing range of the incident without Negi noticing them until after he's done with the rescue.

I was actually thinking about that, yes. Maybe a conveniently common Japanese earthquake or something along those lines hitting just as the class is gathered at a single place? That way he just doesn't have enough time to worry about covering himself in front of others, with a life at risk.

negima?! uses the same tool, Negi tolled Ayaka they were looking for Yue and she gathered the whole class to help look and then they saw it.

Alright, I've got a dare to everyone but OM. (Don't want to pile up even more stuff on you; that would be against troper camaraderie.)

The Dare: Write a Negi-harem one-shot including every possible character. That includes Class 3-A (even Chao), Anya, Fate, Fate's "adorable minions" (not just Luna/Shiori), Tsukuyomi, his parents, Rakan, Theodora, Seras, Yue's Ariadne classmates... The whole works!

For a point of reference, see Nanoha's Problem, a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha one-shot with a similar premise.

... That's actually the big epilogue Omake for my current mini-series. I think I announced it when I was starting it. A Beyond the Impossible sort of thing. It should come after the Sakurako piece, which is the last 'normal' one for a good reason.

But if anyone also wants to take their own spin on it, I'd love to read it as well!

I'd try my hand at it, but I just do not have the time to make something that massive without making it a cop out. And does "everyone" include male characters, or are we talking every female character. Cause I'm not writing any yaoi.

@ Japanese Teeth: The advantage of using the short fic format for Crack Pairing is you don't have to explain everything. You can easily leave the 'How the hell did they get there?' as a Noodle Incident and lampshade it, leaving it to the reader's imagination and fueling someone else's inspirations if you're lucky. Feedback at its best, IMHO.

Writing long span romance is much more emotionally rewarding (I think so; I haven't finished a single multi part epic yet), but it also demands a lot more of proper explanations and logical thinking. A lot more effort has to be invested there.

And by all rights, when writing, never look at others' work for 'Inspiration and advice'. You'll always took narrative cues from some people, of course, but it shouldn't be something you should actively try to absorb IMHO. The important thing is trying to develop your own style.

I do have my own style; and it usually involves obsessing over plugging every plot hole I can find. The only exception is when I deliberately make plot holes for comedy value, and I don't think it would work for this type of scenario. I just don't have the time to make that story the way I would want it. I could condense everything, but it would fall short of my own standards.

I want to see Chisame's lotus eater machine. I can see it going two ways. One, it's a completely normal world with normal classmates etc. and she ends up completely dissatisfied. Two, she ends up in a world basically like what Negima is now and it enrages her to realize this is really what she wants.

@Arha, yeah that was pretty much what I thought. And yeah, it should be in spoiler tags.

EDIT: Yeah, one of the Fate pics is up there now. I think that that Chamo pic is a bit too stylized, especially as when it gets shrunk down it'll barely look like him. Getting a color pic isn't that important for him, as he's black and white anyway.

Remember the three-alternatives theory on why Zazie is doing this Lotus-Eater Machine? I'm betting on either #2 - that she wants them to overcome it - or #3 - testing them - because #1 would require that she make the illusion perfect. You can't make the illusion perfect if you throw in clearly obvious clues to the truth... Like the Parusama being reported on TV news. Who else thinks that that tidbit is a Chekhov's Gun that will eventually be the key to breaking the illusion?

Also, this whole thing reminds of an eerily similar Superman story: For The Man Who Has Everything. If Zazie values her well-being, then she'd better have a way for him to peacefully break the illusion, rather than call a heart-wrenching Dream Apocalypse upon his own parents.

Negi seems to retain some of his memories concerning reality, if not all of it. And yeah, this is a grade-A Tear Jerker. Looks like Negi has a way of meeting his parents, only they aren't really his parents. The real problem that this is probably going to cause is the revelation that this is the nature of Cosmo Enchilada  ^*

. If it really is a paradise, Negi's going to have a hell of a time justifying his opposition to Fate. If this is a test of some kind, it's Negi's resolve that's being tested. That's part of the reason that I think Zazie is in league with Chao; it's like a even tougher version of the moral dilemma from Mahorafest  ^*

EDIT: @Mega-dark: Possibly. However, from what we know now Fate's plan does have some pretty good points; namely that it allows everyone to be saved, and Cosmo Enchilada seems to be a viable alternative to allowing everyone in Mundus Magicus to stop existing. I have no doubt that Negi will find a flaw of some sort, but he's going to have to work pretty hard to justify his opposition.

It may be beyond her capabilities to make it not exist. It seems like her pactio is kind of like a portal to the lotus eater rather than inducing one directly. I doubt Zazie created CE, after all. Therefore, the ship was taken with them.

I also find Arika's reaction interesting. Am I the only one who thinks she's acting like she's never met Negi before?

Edit:They could just go with the standard justification that it's not real. CE (the group) is doing destructive stuff in the real world apart from saving people. Remember, Mahora is preparing for battle. Plus, they're not exactly asking if people want to go to paradise.

spoiler: It's probably not a perfect illusion, but it's about as close as you'd be able to get, considering that Negi has zero memories about his mother. Besides, his memories are messed up, so even if that is the case, he wouldn't be able to notice.

EDIT: We're far enough along to not need spoilers.

Anyway, plot stuff aside, this chapter is an enormous Call-Back to the first few volumes of the series, which I think it captures really well. It has the sneeze Panty Shot, the running late to school, Negi waking up in Asuna's bed; it's all stuff from the first chapter. Not only is the chapter about nostalgia, but it's also damn good at invoking it in the readers. I know I felt nostalgic while reading it.

@Arha: That's probably one of the points that Negi will draw on; my point is that this proves that the basis of Fate's plan  ^*

is actually pretty sound. It's Fate's methods of achieving that goal that are going to cause problems.

What I mean is more like she's acting like she's meeting him for the first time. A more natural 'of course I'm here, I've always been here for you' attitude would make more sense if she's an illusion and no more. I'm wondering if that's significant.

On a completely unrelated note; during an attack of boredom, I took the liberty of going through the Negima Fetish Fuel page and putting all the entries in chronological order, and replacing the soon-to-be-defunct Onemanga links with mangafox links  ^*
