This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.
e.g.
Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?
Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?

Are Awesome Music pages supposed to have images?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢well....yes, unless you have an album. but since music is an auditory medium, i'm not exactly sure.
question for some thread, and i asked this before. what is the usual time when someone posted critique on a hero or villain you made? i estimated mine's would be reviewed in a week or 2 since these threads have a reputation of people thinking i should post a character after critique, at the same time. (mines took me several hours to make but i guess because i can't critique on characters for the life of me)
p.s. sorry for the long question.

MIAIn golf a shot that veers left is called a hook. A shot that veers right is called a slice. Why are they called this? Where did the terms come from?
There's more to it than simply this, but it refers to the motion of the club, not the resulting direction of the ball.
It's a "hook", because the golfer's swing (assuming a right-hander) is "hooking" around front of the ball ever-so-slightly. A "slice" is the head of the club also ever-so-slightly sliding along the back of the ball, as though they were trying to slice a thin section off the back.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢If you're sending a letter from Australia to the UK, what do you write in the post code boxes? I have the address I want on hand but I don't see anything on there I recognise as a post code. Do UK post codes have letters in them or are they all numbers like here?

Everybody's all "Jerry's old and feeble" till they see him run down a skyscraper and hijack a helicopter mid-flight.UK postcodes have mixed letters and numbers. This tool should be helpful for finding the postcode you need.
Fresh-eyed movie blogAh, that's perfect! It even shows you how to lay it out on the envelope. Thanks!

Fresh-eyed movie blogSay, is "diametre" a valid alt spelling of "diameter".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWiktionary says it's an alternative spelling, but Dictionary.com, Merriam-Webster.com, and the free online version of the OED don't list 'diametre' at all. The OED even says 'diametre' is a common misspelling of 'diameter'.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Why do some words have an added "U" in the UK?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢It's actually the opposite: those words were originally spelled "-our", then the "u" was dropped in American English. According to Wikipedia, this change happened because of Latin influence (many of these words have Latin equivalents ending with "-or") and were adopted in the US because of Webster's 1828 dictionary, which only had the "-or" spellings.
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreDepending on which side of the Atlantic you're on, Webster is either a reformer or a vandal.
Fresh-eyed movie blogRelated, is "thru" actually an alternate spelling of "through", or is it just chatspeak?
Everybody's all "Jerry's old and feeble" till they see him run down a skyscraper and hijack a helicopter mid-flight.It is not considered correct English, but it predates online chat. It's like "snax".

'Puma' is a genus that contains the cougar and jaguarundi. Cheetahs are the only living members of their genus, Acinonyx. Lions, jaguars, tigers, and leopards are all in the genus Panthera.
So the answer is no. I just looked up those species on Wikipedia to see what genera they were a part of. If two species aren't part of the same genus, they're not going to have viable offspring. It's as simple as that.
