This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.
e.g.
Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?
Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?
Get the idea?

Is this for a specific forum games thread or a new rule that I'm not aware of?
I always knew there's that thread about making a Five-Man Band of someone's avatar gallery...what's happened to it?
The avatar shipping games come to mind.
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"From The Super Serious Forum Game Rules Thread
- No more than one additional embedded or hotlinked avatar per post.
- The avatar that is automatically attached to every post you make isn't counted.
- You may embed one additional avvie in each post.
- Hottipping [[note]]url[[/note]] does the same thing to the server load as embedding, and therefore counts as one per hottip.
- You can link as many as you want in each post using the [[urlhere tag here]] markup.
- Hottipped or enbedded doesn't matter — only one (not one of each).
- Making runs of consecutive posts, each with one embedded or hottipped avvie will be treated as trying to end-run the restriction, and may result in a ban.

What would be a good online job to have? What jobs that you could do over the internet? And can they be temp jobs?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."What non-trope term(s) would you use to describe the nature of the relationship between two characters, placeholder names Alexander and Bruce, if Bruce is a fragment of Alexander's soul that was split off after Alexander had gone into a coma, and was reborn as a separate individual (as in, literally reborn, as the biological child of a pair of living people), with Alexander eventually awakening from his coma by the time Bruce has reached his age?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Is the writer's block section only for original stories or does it also include fanfiction?

"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"Yes, all kind of works can go there.
In general, TV Tropes does not do much distinction between original works and fanworks except for category and trope purposes.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow do you backup your apps to your other microsd card? I have to update something but my tablet always complains about the lack of space. I tried clearing some cahce but it still doesn't work.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."What's a transitive verb in English meaning "to swing/wave [a floppy object] around forcefully" (such as one might do to get dirt off of a shirt)?
What exactly do the Freemasons stand for? No Conspiracy Theorist answers, please.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonThey're basically just a secret clubhouse thing but for old dudes.
Oh really when? The Freemasons were founded in the age of enlightenment on the importance of "learning" and free thought. In order to advance through the levels, you have to learn... stuff. I don't know what.
Also that.

Fresh-eyed movie blogThanks guys. It was a small homework project. I bet you my teacher was expecting something along the lines of "spooky scary super-secret society that rules the world".
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonThe Freemasons are being pretty open about a lot of basic stuff these days to try to improve their image. I saw a TV documentary a few years ago that they extensively cooperated with to the point of allowing outsiders to see their initiation ritual for the first time, and I watched another more recently that had some new inside information I didn't remember from the first one.
I think I have at least one relative who's a Freemason, but it's never come up. Nobody ever invited me to join because one of the requirements is that you come freely and ask for yourself, but I think I would have liked to.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat's actually pretty cool. One of my personal Berserk Buttons are conspiracy theories, so yeah.
'd to remove redlink.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonWhip? Flail or thrash?
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrThe reason Masonic rituals have been made more public is not entirely that they volunteered to do it. There was a fairly prominent case in the 1930s of a former member revealing the rituals of a Masonic lodge - the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
The author of the book containing the revelations was Israel Regardie, a former secretary and assistant to Aleister Crowley. The HOGD was not really a mainstream Masonic lodge but the fundamentals are there, and arguably the irreversible publication of the rites of the HOGD was what began the process of Masonic lodges opening up to the public.
As for conspiracy theories, the thing about them is that sometimes they're true. Granted, it's very, very rare and I certainly don't hold any sort of general suspicion of Freemasons; but just as a matter of fact there was at least one Masonic lodge that was actually used to plan a conspiracy to overthrow the government of Italy in the 1970s and 80s. They carried out murders and other crimes to that end, and some of the members were jailed for it. Look it up: Propaganda Due.
So you know, some conspiracies are true. Just be very skeptical and don't believe anything just because it sounds like "the sort of thing those slimy politicians would do". Look up actual sources. Even if it's reported in mainstream media you can't be sure that it's true. When people are getting tried and found guilty over them, though, you can be fairly sure - if the justice system is generally reliable. The evidence has to be public, as well. Don't believe a government that jails people for conspiracies on secret evidence.
EDIT: Originally this post contained a reference to the GLADIO stay-behind network in Italy (and other European countries) established by NATO. GLADIO (and its sister operations) have been linked to various crimes during the Cold War, but it appears at least part of the claim is based on a forged document; and reliable sources that would realistically have had access to the relevant information have only publicly confirmed that the operations did exist, but not that they carried out crimes in European countries. Official documents that could confirm or deny it are generally not available, as they have been classified.
So in line with my previous statement about skepticism I'm withdrawing the accusations against NATO and Gladio that I couldn't confirm to a reasonable degree.
The P2 stuff is true, though. And Gladio did definitely exist, although its exact function and extent remain as mysteries.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.P2 for those who don't know is Propaganda Due, an Italian lodge turned into a criminal organization/conspiracy with a member list that included major figures in Italy going from businesspeople over politicians to important people in intelligence agencies.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonEasiest way would probably be to go to your own troper page, and where it says Tropers/PrincessGwen in the url, change the link to read TroperWall/PrincessGwen instead, hit enter, and edit the blank page that comes up into your own troper wall.
